The Serbian is widely regarded as one of the best and must thorough analysts in the business and is often remembered for his “weatherman” segments at DreamHack Masters Malmö 2016. That event took place in April of 2016 and YNk took advantage of the ability to use a map and various replays to emphasize his points about the matches during the desk segments. However, that was two years ago and there has been little to no advancement in the tools and visual aids that CS:GO analysts and pundits can use while covering matches at events. In fact, most events don’t even provide anything close to what Malmö had and some premiere tournaments still don’t even show replays of the key moments that the analysts are discussing. This lack of progression seems to have left YNk, who is currently working at the $300,000 StarSeries i-League Finals, frustrated. Taking to Twitter on May 31st, he lamented the fact that he and Chad ‘SPUNJ’ Burchill only had highlights and stats to help them break down the intense SK Gaming vs. Team Liquid match. We try our best, but the difference between just talking about some of the rounds and actually having the ability to show some of that stuff on an example is night and day. This is not a jab at Starladder, they’ve added some other things (AR), more about the scene in general — Janko Paunovic (@YNk) May 31, 2018 The retired player went on to make it clear that he was not taking a shot at the event organizers, as they have added some other interesting features, and that his statement was about the CS:GO scene in general. YNk believes that the DreamHack Masters Malmö 2016 weatherman segment is still the best tool that CS:GO analysts have had and is concerned about the lack of innovation. So much more can be done to make things more appealing to the viewers, add value to some of those pre/post game segments and draw more people to this beautiful game but the focus right now seems to be elsewhere (predominantly on players, then HUDs, arena experience, etc.) — Janko Paunovic (@YNk) May 31, 2018 The passionate analyst concluded by saying that “so much more can be done” to appeal to viewers and add value to the desk segments between maps and in pre and post-match analysis. He believes that Counter-Strike is the easiest esport to understand and get into for casual fans and that better production value can improve this even more and help viewers to understand the beauty and nuance of high level CS:GO. CS is by FAR the easiest esport for people to get into, you may argue about the whole gun/terrorist theme and it keeping some sponsors away but in reality if the viewership is there sponsors will inevitably come. Higher production value can act as a multiplier in that sense imo — Janko Paunovic (@YNk) May 31, 2018 I just want more ways to show people how awesome CounterStrike is, can I have that? Pretty please? 🙁 — Janko Paunovic (@YNk) May 31, 2018

YNk Airs His Frustrations With the Lack of Analysis Tools and Slow Progression in Production Value at CS:GO Events DreamHack / Adela SznajderCounter-Strike: Global Offensive analyst Janko ‘YNk’ Paunović has aired his frustrations with the lack of tools available for him and his colleagues at tournaments.
