Now that Cyberpunk 2077 has achieved its redemption arc with the Phantom Liberty expansion and has proven itself to be one of the most immersive RPGs available, fans are excited for a sequel. Unfortunately, we don’t have a whole lot to go on when it comes to the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel other than a cryptic code name and a promise from devs that it will greatly exceed its predecessor. Eagle-eyed fans on the game’s Subreddit have recently latched onto a small detail that they believe holds some pertinent information on what CD Projekt RED calls Project Orion. Reddit user u/QueenCobra91 has pointed to a series of in-game posters and billboards that they have theorized reveal the city and year that the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel will take place. The posters and Billboards in question reference a new highspeed mode of transportation that will take people from Night City to Chicago in under three hours. u/QueenCobra91 reported seeing an unusually high amount of these adverts in recent playthroughs and suggested it could be a hint for the sequel taking place in Chicago during 2080. While some players in the comments have taken the idea and ran with it, others are a little bit more realistic with their speculation. “I doubt they will leave Night City for Chicago. But I could see 2080 being the next setting for Orion,” one player said. Other fans of the game agreed that Night City was “the main character” of the series and we likely won’t see a Cyberpunk game set outside of it. “No Cyberpunk game will ever take place outside of Night City,” another user agreed. To put a dampener on the speculation, one player pointed out that this particular advertisement has been in the game since its launch. However, many fans agreed that this specific billboard seemed more prevalent following the release of Phantom Liberty. It’s hard to imagine a Cyberpunk game set outside of the confines of Night City given that its source material is entirely localized there. However, whether that means potential sequels could become stale is another matter. The Saints Row series managed to iterate on Stilwater and multiple Grand Theft Auto titles have used the same cities in differing time periods. With enough disruption, Night City could remain fresh over multiple entries.

Cyberpunk 2077 fans think they’ve found a location & setting for the sequel CD PROJEKT REDA poster in Cyberpunk 2077 has fans speculating that it reveals the location and year in which the sequel will take place.
