In a video that\u2019s since been deleted, a mother took to TikTok, sharing an outrageous incident that involved her nine-year-old daughter. With over 3 million views, Dayna Motycka, discusses the incident, which started with the purchase of a fake Stanley cup priced at under $10 that she thought was cute. However, after returning after the holiday break, her daughter was upset after she was teased by all 10 classmates, who received a \u2018real,\u2019 branded Stanley cup for Christmas. \u201cThey made sure to let her know that this is not a real Stanley, that this is fake and it\u2019s not as cool\u2026 She asks if she can have a real Stanley,\u201d she reveals. \u201cDo I think that a 9-year-old needs a Stanley?\u201d she asks. \u201cNo. Do I have one? Yes, I have one. I don\u2019t have 50 Stanleys in all different colors. I\u2019m not going to Target and fighting other women or moms to try and get the new Valentine\u2019s Day one. I have one,\u201d Dayna continues. The situation led her to purchase an authentic Stanley cup for her daughter to take to school. She concludes: \u201cWe have got to teach our kids to not make other kids feel inferior for not having the thing that they have. That\u2019s it. That\u2019s where it starts and it starts with us as parents.\u201d Following on from the video, she posted an update, reflecting that she was just as culpable as her daughter when it came to yearning over trendy items. Many praised Dayna for the way she handled the situation, writing: \u201cYou should be proud of your self-awareness here! Sounds like you\u2019re def trying your best.\u201d \u201cBeing a mom is hard, being a decent human being is hard to find. You\u2019re doing great, we can\u2019t get it right all the time,\u201d another stated reassuringly. Some, however, had different feelings on the matter: \u201cAgree with you completely\u2026 BUT also as a parent\/adult, we can buy those things because we work and make money. Kids should understand that too.\u201d \u201cI hear you, completely, and I applaud your honesty, but we pay the bills\u2026when they pay the bills\u2026they can buy it,\u201d another concurred. One stated that this debate was nothing new, writing: \u201cThere has always been a brand that everyone has to have.
