Asmongold thinks Dr Disrespect is making a \u201chuge mistake\u201d with \u201cscam\u201d NFTs in his game Asmongold, Dr DisrespectTwitch star Asmongold explained why he believes YouTube star Dr Disrespect having NFT integration in his upcoming game is a \u201chuge mistake\u201d by claiming the choice could \u201churt people\u2019s perception\u201d of him. Asmongold has not held back when pointing out how much he dislikes NFTs, or Non-fungible tokens. In the past, he\u2019s called them \u201cridiculous\u201d and \u201cworse than astrology,\u201d and has been skeptical of cryptocurrency in general. Naturally, after Dr Disrespect\u2019s game studio Midnight Society revealed they\u2019d have NFT integration, Asmongold shared his thoughts about the announcement on stream. Asmongold warns Dr Disrespect about NFTs The 30-year-old Twitch streamer was live on March 16 when he dug into the news of the day, highlighted by Dr Disrespect\u2019s new game. Asmongold reiterated his belief that NFTs are a \u201cscam\u201d and said they are \u201cBeanie Babies for the 2020s.\u201d While he isn\u2019t a fan of the new technology, he didn\u2019t pin Midnight Society\u2019s NFT integration all on The Doc. \u201cI think there\u2019s a good chance that Doc might not be the biggest fan of NFTs either. Just his marketing, or production, or development thinks this is a really good idea. And so, he\u2019s the face of the product, he has to kind of defend it. It sucks to be in that position, and that\u2019s just what happens when you\u2019re in a big organization.\u201d Asmon went on to say he believes the move could hurt Dr Disrespect\u2019s public image, as he\u2019s grown to build trust with his audience over the years. \u201cWhat are the virtues that Doc has that make people excited about his content? He is a big content creator, and to a certain degree authentic about who he is, even though who he is is a joke. If you remove and change that authenticity into doing something like NFTs or whatever, that really hurts people\u2019s perception. Because it is fundamental to the image that he\u2019s created.\u201d Asmongold finished calling the implementation of NFTs into Midnight Society\u2019s game a \u201chuge mistake.\u201d Dr Disrespect has defended the game\u2019s use of NFTs by saying \u201cyou don\u2019t have to have NFTs to play the game.\u201d Despite how Midnight Society has decided to incorporate NFTs, Asmongold doesn\u2019t think it\u2019s worth it as the public\u2019s perception of the technology has already soured.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
