The incredibly popular awards hit their fourth year and were bigger than ever as they dominated Twitter with their hilarious posts that were all in aid of helping children with cancer. Once again, a selection of social media posts that were almost certainly tall tales, were pitted against each other in a fan vote – with the eventual winner being dubbed as the best ‘didn’t happen’ of the year. Just over 6 hours until it all kicks off with Group A. A quick, simple recap of the year in #DHOTYA2019 pic.twitter.com/frys9WaQaB — Didn’t Happen of the Year Awards (@_DHOTYA) December 27, 2019 This year’s contest featured some incredibly tough competition, with amazing stories like the ‘£4.40 toastie by George Benson’, ‘Clapping by Ciara’, and even Chelsea Football Club making an appearance. However, there could only be one winner. Soccer pro Wayne Hennessey went up against a mother and her one-year-old in the grand final. The Crystal Palace goalkeeper claimed that his alleged nazi salute was a misunderstanding, while the latter insisted her son said he would go to work for her while donning her uniform. It came down to the death, but “he’s only one” was triumphant – taking home the Didn’t Happen Of The Year by just 0.4% of the vote, as they claimed 50.4% of the 68,322 votes cast. CONGRATULATIONS! The winner of #DHOTYA2019 is “He’s Only 1”. 2019 was a tough year with so many great entries, but with a tiniest of margins (50.4%) of the 68,322 votes in the final, you’ve chosen “He’s Only 1” as the biggest “Didn’t Happen” of the year! pic.twitter.com/XcUuIWKUkv — Didn’t Happen of the Year Awards (@_DHOTYA) December 29, 2019 There were eight groups of four teams at the start, so both entries had to defeat quite a few opponents on their way to the finals. Many will be disappointed by Hennessey’s loss as he was the favorite going into the event. However, everyone involved no doubt had a great time seeing some of the ridiculous and hilarious things that people were posting on social media throughout 2019.

DHOTYA 2019 winner revealed after insanely close final The 2019 edition of the Didn’t Happen Of The Year Awards (DHOTYA), an award celebrating the biggest liars on social media, has come to an end following an unbelievably close final showdown.
