Battlestate Games\u2019 Escape from Tarkov originally released in the summer of 2016, as a realistic tactical first-person shooter, in the vein of Ubisoft\u2019s Rainbow Six Siege. While the latter has experienced mainstream acclaim, the former has found a new lease of life on streaming platforms. A number of popular streamers, including Michael \u2018shroud\u2019 Grzesiek, have praised the game and shared it to their audiences. On December 31, the Doc became the latest to heap praise on Escape from Tarkov. The Doc is known for playing a variety of games, regularly losing his cool and engaging in passionate rants about how games can improve. However, fans were surprised when, on New Year\u2019s Eve, he fired nothing but compliments the way of Battlestate Games. \u201cThis game\u2019s kinda sick,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m not gonna lie \u2013 this game\u2019s kinda sick. This game is pretty sweet \u2013 I get it. It\u2019s not the fastest game, we\u2019re not jumping out of vehicles, ponytail flapping in the wind.\u201d \u201c[We\u2019re not] getting struck by lightning,\u201d he continued. \u201cWhile we\u2019re AKing somebody \u2013 two tapping them \u2013 using proximity chat. I know it\u2019s not that type of violence, speed and momentum, but there is a certain level of intensity and build up.\u201d The Doc suggests he\u2019s enjoying the game as a result of its change of pace \u2013 a much slower game than those he is accustomed too. This is a typical feature of tactical FPS games \u2013 where players may spend minutes holding one angle just to achieve one kill. \u201cI still have a lot to learn, obviously,\u201d the Doc finished. While he\u2019s fairly new to Tarkov, it seems the game is striking all the right chords with Twitch\u2019s most passionate gamer.
