When it comes to getting a top-level for a brand new piece of hardware – be it a PC, a mobile phone, monitor, or even a camera – many fans heed the advice of Linus Tech Tips. The popular YouTube channel has amassed over 10 million subscribers since starting back in 2008 and regularly uploads new reviews, tips, and tricks. One of the newest reviews came as the host, Linus, broke down the new Opera GX gaming web browser that isn’t just about performance on Facebook or Flash games, but using it to browse the internet while playing something on your PC. While it may sound interesting and new, the Opera GX browser works off Google Chromium, so it could look and feel a bit similar to Chrome. Though there are some unique features like limiting how much RAM and CPU it can use – however, Linus found that this didn’t always work. It also comes equipped with a built-in VPN, ad-blocker, and screenshot tool, as well as messenger apps and a cryptocurrency wallet. However, it was the VPN that the YouTuber described as “sucky” because of how it works in its current state and why users might not want to just give their data to Opera given their recent problems with security. “We started out with this video thinking that this was just going to be a rant about how stupid it is, but it ended up not being that stupid – which doesn’t necessarily mean that you should use it,” Linus stated before revealing that a recent report alleged that four of Opera software’s other apps were in violation of the Google Play store policy. These apps were supposedly targeting users in India, Kenya, and Nigeria with predatory loans, with the report suggesting that it was done this way because of falling user figures on the apps. The YouTuber also stated that the current Opera CEO is allegedly involved in another Chinese lending business that has been accused of fraud and illegal lending practices. “Opera GX the product, actually shockingly not terrible but it still doesn’t seem like the best time to support this company, even if it might make it easier for you to your watch anime music videos while you wreck filthy casuals in CoD,” Linus concluded. Whether or not fans will actually take his advice on board remains to be seen, but it appears the YouTuber is pretty passionate about not using the browser on a daily basis just yet.

Linus Tech Tips explains why you should avoid new “gaming web browser” YouTube: LinusTechTipsPopular YouTuber Linus Tech Tips has explained why the ‘new’ Opera GX gaming web browser isn’t all that bad but also why it’s probably not worth using just yet.
