Paul published an open letter to Generation Iron in a Tweet on May 21, where he explained that he would not be attending the Battle on the Volga due to \u201can unforeseen and unfortunate event\u201d that took place during a recent practice session. While Paul claimed that he didn\u2019t want to take part in a competition that could \u201cresult in serious injury to virtually anyone competing,\u201d he didn\u2019t elaborate on the exact incident \u2013 that is, until Paul uploaded a video of him slapping the daylights out of an opponent the very next day. Paul claimed that his slap resulted in the slappee, professional slapper \u2018slapforcash,\u2019 losing memory of his name and all recollection of being slapped, altogether \u2013 a fact that Paul found to be \u201cvery scary.\u201d \u201cI have never seen a human crumple like that,\u201d Paul said of the matter. \u201cIt made me feel uncomfortable. I realized I don\u2019t like hitting defenseless humans\u2026 what if that happens to me? What if I become the vegetable?\u201d Paul went on to compare the incident to his debilitating scandal from early 2018, where he filmed the body of a suicide victim in Japan\u2019s Aokigahara \u2018Suicide Forest\u2019 for a controversial vlog.
