In response to the media\u2019s coverage of the scandal, hackers took matters into their own hands, publishing a fake apology letter on the Wall Street Journal\u2019s website in response to their 2017 article on the YouTuber. While the WSJ\u2019s previous piece covered a scandal from early 2017, where PewDiePie garnered massive backlash for making an anti-Semitic joke in an attempt to test the limits of freelance site \u2018Fiverr,\u2019 his latest debacle has unleashed further criticism, prompting hackers to infiltrate the news site to hit back at the media. PewDiePie addressed the hackers\u2019 efforts in an episode of \u2018Pew News\u2019 on December 20, where he made a few scalding comments toward the WSJ and their staff. Upon reading the faux apology aloud (which claimed that a few of the WSJ reporters had been fired), PewDiePie put their writers on blast, calling them \u201chypocrites\u201d due to a few of their Tweets he\u2019d found online and deemed questionable. \u201cThat\u2019s nice,\u201d Pewds commented. \u201cThey finally realized that their own reporters are complete hypocrites, and they\u2019ve said things that are irrefutably anti-Semitic.\u201d Pewds went on to congratulate the hackers for their massive stunt and called out the WSJ for promoting sponsored articles through their advertising group \u2018the WSJ Custom Solutions Team,\u2019 where the fake apology had reportedly been posted.
