Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg is somewhat of a meme connoisseur, and his incredibly popular ‘Meme Review’ show has been seen as the arbiter of the internet’s sense of humor. His fans joke that he can ‘kill’ memes simply by giving them a negative review. So, as the decade comes to a close, it’s only right that the chief umpire of meme culture debate the greatest memes of the last ten years, and he’s already struck out two contenders. While perusing the incredibly popular ‘dank memes’ subreddit in his December 27 video, PewDiePie came across two possible candidates for meme of the decade, but he wasn’t impressed by either. First, he batted down the suggestion that the “surprise motherf**ker” line delivered by Eric King’s character in Dexter could be the top meme of the last ten years. “No, it’s not meme of the decade,” Pewds concluded, “don’t even try it. Surprise yourself back to dead land, because you don’t belong.” The second possible contender is a late entry, as some have suggested that the new ‘Baby Yoda’ from The Mandalorian series could already have taken the top spot. Even Elon Musk, who once appeared to host an episode of Meme Review, has shown himself to be a fan of Baby Yoda memes, but it’s safe to say that PewDiePie is not. “I like Baby Yoda, and I like the Mandalorian,” Kjellberg explains, “but, I realized, I don’t mind Baby Yoda, I just don’t like the memes. They’re bad, they’re so bad.” Topic starts at 5:08 As for being meme of the decade, PewDiePie says Baby Yoda has no chance: “How do people unironically think [Baby Yoda is meme of the decade]? How did they come to that conclusion? I am so confused.” It remains to be seen if PewDiePie will put his thoughts together in a full video to decide the ultimate meme of the decade before the year is out. But, with so many countless memes to choose from, just narrowing it down to a single list could be impossible. With the next decade looming, it’s impossible to even imagine how memes will evolve, but PewDiePie will surely be there to guide us all through it.

PewDiePie debates the best meme of the decade With the decade coming to a close, there’s a lot to look back on from across culture, but the golden age of memes has stolen the show, and YouTuber PewDiePie is starting to debate the ‘memes of the decade’.
