Ever since its debut on the Game Boy, Pokemon has been a big part of many adults childhoods’ that grew up in the 90s. The RPG franchise even kicked off a pop culture phenomena in the form of the Trading Card Game. During his recent upload, YouTube star PewDiePie opened up to viewers about an incident he faced when he was younger, when a fellow kid tried to battle him for his Vulpix – but mistook the game’s rules for elements from Yu-Gi-Oh. PewDiePie recalls hilarious Yu-Gi-Oh Pokemon memory The YouTuber’s latest video was a love letter to the 2000’s anime Yu-Gi-Oh, where he professed his adoration for the classic. However while reacting to the series’ first episode, he was reminded of a childhood memory involving Pokemon. “When I was a kid… Hey, I don’t remember your name,” he said before pointing towards the camera. “This little f**ker didn’t know how to play Pokemon. You know who you are. I bet you’re watching!” he joked. He then recalled that the kid tried to “duel” him for his cards. “He was like, I know the rules of Pokemon. I’m like alright let’s play it. And he’s like alright, so you just pick the first card of your deck and you place it down and whoever has the strongest card wins the other person’s card.” Only problem is, that is clearly not how the Pokemon Trading Card Game is played. The entertainer continued, “I’m like, that sounds stupid. And he’s like, alright, place your card.” Unfortunately for the YouTuber, he pulled a common Vulpix while the other kid had a holographic Charizard. “And he just pulls out a Charizard right away. And he’s like “Your card is mine now!” and I’m like F**K NO!” he exclaimed. It appeared that the kid was confusing the rules between the two series, although the Swede admitted a lot of kids didn’t understand them. “Because no-one knew how to play the games. Even though they are so simple,” he said. (Timestamp 02:15 for mobile users.) While it seems to be just a case of children not understanding the rules of popular trading card games, the 30-year-old almost had his Vulpix ‘stolen’ as that is not how Pokemon battles actually work. This isn’t the first time PewDiePie has hilariously opened up about his childhood, as he often tells viewers about stories from his youth that are totally relatable.

PewDiePie reveals how kid tried to ‘steal’ his childhood Pokemon cards YouTube: PewDiePie / PixabayDuring his April 9 upload, YouTube king Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg hilariously recalled an incident from his childhood where a kid tried to take his Pokemon cards after being confused by Yu-Gi-Oh.
