PewDiePie\u2019s original video was in response to a controversy where he used a racial slur during a livestream in September 2017, prompting an immediate wave of criticism. Felix began the review of his apology video by taking issue with his posture and his expression, claiming that he seemed angry, and that his posture was in a \u2018defensive position.\u2019 He likewise responded to his claim that the slur was said \u201cin the heat of the moment,\u201d which has since become a meme used in reference to the toxic side of gaming culture. \u201cI didn\u2019t mean for this to sound like an excuse, but it 100% comes across as an excuse,\u201d he said of the statement. \u201cI never should have said that.\u201d Following these words, he played another selection from his apology video where he stated that he wasn\u2019t making any excuses, and laughed. \u201c\u2026except you basically just made a bunch of excuses for it, you idiot,\u201d he chuckled.
