From cooking to gardening memes, the community is a little bit lost without their king. In December 2019, the popular YouTuber announced he would be taking a short break from creating content in 2020, stating he was “tired.” While the Swedish personality is recouping, his forum over on Reddit has found interesting ways to pass the time. PewDiePie’s signature show Last Week I Asked You had him reacting to memes posted on his subreddit. But now r/PewdiepieSubmissions has been overtaken by bizarre-themed memes as they use humor to soften the blow of their favorite creator’s absence. PewDiePie’s subreddit goes awry Feeling the withdrawal of the absence of Pewds’ YouTube content, his subreddit has found hilarious ways to pass the time. While the forum has usually been a place for his fans to post the top memes for him to react to, now it’s become a tug of war between varied themes. The Reddit community first began posting about cooking – because why not? A flood of submissions began revolving around the culinary arts, which user ‘Potatochu_OwO’ captured with a Danny Devito meme. The Swede’s fans responded to the post, and exclaimed that his break has felt much longer than it’s actually been. User ‘VirtualNK’ stated in shock, “It’s only been 14 days? Felt like 2 months,” to which ‘Gnostic28’ replied, “How much longer must we wait?” Other users posted actual pictures of food they had created such as ‘Peto6421’s stellar brofist cake. The mods seem on board with the movement, even declaring on January 31, “With 2.5 MILLION subscribers, r/Pewdiepiesubmissions is the LARGEST cooking subreddit! Congratulations! (next week we’re turning into a gardening subreddit, stay tuned).” Like the tides of the ocean, soon the forum washed away their love for cooking, and have set their sights on their next obsession – gardening. Sticking to the newly ordained theme, ‘ChisTurtle’ posted a hilarious photoshop of Felix riding a John Deer tractor. One of the posts was even directed at the YouTuber, and admitted that he must be confused when reading their garden style posts. “Felix is probably checking the subreddit [right now] and he is confused,” it read. The Swedish YouTube star amassed over 103 million followers on the platform, making him the largest individual content creator. Only time will tell when PewDiePie will be making his glorious return. However, his short absence is clearly missed if fan reaction on his subreddit is any indication.

PewDiePie subreddit descends into chaos during his YouTube break YouTube: PewDiePie / RedditIn the midst of Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg taking his 2020 break from YouTube, the Swede’s subreddit has hilariously descended into chaos.
