The Moroccan-Canadian criticized the 33-year-old during her live broadcast. According to Anys, the YouTuber didn\u2019t seem genuine in his apology. Pokimane calls Shane Dawson\u2019s apology \u201cdisingenuous\u201d During her Twitch stream, Pokimane reacted to Shane Dawson\u2019s first upload since 2020. While watching his return video, the 25-year-old explained to viewers why she wasn\u2019t buying into Dawson\u2019s apology for his past mistakes. \u201cThe way he is jumping between topics, I hate to say it, it just sends disingenuous vibes,\u201d she said. \u201cLike, if you really care about something, like, \u2018hey I want to come back. I want to seriously apologize and I want people to know how aware I am of the sh**ty things that I did\u2019\u2026 When someone\u2019s serious they look like they feel bad, they say at lengths what they did wrong. That\u2019s how you really do it.\u201d The star told viewers that most wouldn\u2019t accept an apology if someone acted that way. \u201cWhereas if someone is like, \u201cSorry you feel that way. If you hate me you\u2019re gonna hate me, and omg my cat\u2019s so cute!\u201d If someone apologized like that, you would be like, \u2018What?!\u2019\u2026 It just wouldn\u2019t feel right,\u201d she said. Pokimane then called out the YouTuber on how he was glossing over his past controversies. \u201cThe way he summarized it, I felt kind of sucked, where he was like \u201cAll these clips came out, and that was bad. And if I talk about how I really feel about it, then people will say I just want sympathy.\u201d \u2026 But then it\u2019s like, maybe you haven\u2019t thought about what you did long enough.\u201d The streamer also wasn\u2019t buying Shane Dawson\u2019s explanation for taking a hiatus from YouTube. \u201cAll the things he listed, none of them were like, \u201cI felt bad about what I\u2019ve done. And like I wanted to give people time and space.\u201d People need time to get over, and you need to showcase you\u2019ve changed,\u201d she said. Poki followed that up and explained, \u201cIf you\u2019re going to go off the internet for like two years, specifically because of you being canceled. When you come back and it\u2019s your first video back, I think you need to acknowledge what you did. And in acknowledging what you\u2019ve done wrong, you need to say that you\u2019re sorry, to showcase that you\u2019re genuinely sorry.\u201d Pokimane summed up her whole take on his return by saying that the controversial YouTuber seemed \u201cunsure\u201d of whether he should care about people being angry at him or not. The streamer reiterated that Dawson\u2019s lack of a straightforward apology made him come off not genuine. \u201cYou need to go about things the way you genuinely feel. If you feel you are sorry, say you\u2019re sorry. But you also have to accept that if you choose not to apologize and some people think that makes you disingenuous then so be it.
