Anthem is BioWare\u2019s big upcoming release and a step away from what the studio does with Mass Effect but the game has already been roundly criticized from all corners before its release. The recent \u2018VIP demo\u2019 weekend suffered a number of problems, streamers like Michael \u2018poured cold water over its chances at success and the game has already had its in-game microtransactions menu leaked, showing skins in the game won\u2019t exactly be cheap. Microtransactions are, as ever, a touchy subject but one everyone has an opinion on them \u2013 including Summit1g. Responding to a comment in his chat about the \u2018leaked\u2019 microtransactions for Anthem, Summit said: \u201cI mean, I don\u2019t know why we expect anything different. You think EA is just one day going to fucking grow a god damn heart or brain? They\u2019re just going to keep doing what they do and make that money, feel me? \u201cThey don\u2019t care about their reputation man. Or, at least, whoever is leading the way over there doesn\u2019t care about reputation.\u201d The screenshot leak of the microtransactions was posted to the game\u2019s subreddit on January 25 \u2013 showing in-game \u2018shards\u2019 costing $1 per hundred and skins for the in-game Javelins at around $20. The backlash from the apparent pricing in the photo prompted a response from BioWare. Senior Systems Designer Chris Schmidt commented on Reddit about the leak: \u201cHey there! One thing to keep in mind is these don\u2019t represent final, stamped for all of eternity pricing. We are iterating on our economy design and balance almost daily, so you\u2019re seeing a snapshot of one iteration.
