PewDiePie\u2019s title of Most Subbed to Channel is being famously threatened by Indian music label T-Series, but a new YouTube filter might be the final nail in the coffin for the drawn out contest. YouTube announced on December 13 that it\u2019s going to start using proprietary technology to identify and purge spam subscribers from channels across the board in an effort to keep sub counts as honest as possible. YouTube took to its TeamYouTube Twitter account to let creators know about the imminent change to happen. \u201cOn Dec 13-14 you may see a noticeable decrease in your sub count as we remove spam subscriptions,\u201d YouTube said. \u201cIf spam is removed, you\u2019ll see a YouTube Studio alert. This should help give you confidence that the subs you do have are real fans!\u201d YouTube\u2019s announcement made no connection to the ongoing race-to-the-finish between the Swede and the Indian music service. Yet the comment sections for both the tweet and the expanded announcement on Google Groups are littered with people\u2019s interpretation of what the change would mean for the sub-battle. The majority of criticism were aimed at T-Series, as many suspect this will crucially impact the subscriber count for the channel.
