Referring to itself as \u201cthe home of circular fashion\u201d, Depop is a popular choice for those looking to purchase vintage, preloved, or custom items. From clothes to art, Depop has it all. However, some have noticed a recent trend of people looking for all the best and most affordable buys at thrift stores in hopes of reselling them on Depop for profit \u2014 and one TikToker is not happy. Liz, who goes by \u2018biggglizzie\u2019 on TikTok, took to the social media platform to call out the \u201cDepop girls\u201d taking away affordable clothes from \u201cpeople with low income\u201d. \u201cIt feels ridiculous that I even have to say this, but don\u2019t buy clothes in bulk from a thrift store to resell them on Depop,\u201d Liz began her video. Claiming she understood thrifting was a \u201ccute little quirky thing\u201d for many \u201cgirls in high school\u201d to take up for extra money, Liz asked the \u2018Depop girls\u2019 to remember that \u201cpeople rely on the thrift store for their clothing.\u201d \u201cQuit f****** wiping out thrift stores,\u201d Liz said. \u201cThey\u2019re not some quirky little wholesale retailer\u2026 it\u2019s literally a clothing store for people with low income.\u201d Concluding her TikTok by telling those reselling to \u201cget a grip\u201d, not everyone was on board with her take on the issue. \u201cThe thing is a lot of resellers are in poverty themselves, so the morality of it is blurry,\u201d one person pointed out.
