Martin is often mocked for an ‘apology’ video he released in July 2016, after it was revealed that he was the owner of CS:GO Lotto and hadn’t disclosed his interests in the business, despite promoting it on his channel. However, after noticing that Pokimane had parodied the opening of his video – including a short clip of it and then mocking it by using her cat in place of TmarTn’s dog – the gaming YouTube questioned her on Twitter. TmarTn didn’t leave it at that, either. As other users backed up Pokimane, he explained why her use of the clip had angered him. “I had nothing to do with this” he tweeted, after being asked how Pokimane was using this to deflect away from allegations against her. “I’ve never met nor spoken to the girl before. Yet, she’s using a mistake I made years ago to lighten the mood/make a joke/deflect when she should be making an apology.” Because I had NOTHING to do with this I’ve never met nor spoken to the girl before Yet she’s using a mistake I made YEARS ago to lighten the mood/make a joke/deflect when she should be making an apology. — TmarTn (@TmarTn) January 13, 2019 While TmarTn started by questioning the parody section of video, the debate surrounding his initial apology video, and the controversy which caused it, was soon reignited on his Twitter feed. In a series of tweets, TmarTn goes into great detail about the events which now occurred over 2 years ago. I live for the memes, I just think it’s a little inappropriate on her own “apology” Like she’s using me to scapegoat and deflect her issues — TmarTn (@TmarTn) January 13, 2019 In further tweets, he explains that nothing he did at the time was ‘illegal’, and had it been, there would have been punishment. He also claims that the “sentiment” that he defrauded children is also false, as only over 18’s could use the site. We didn’t properly disclose our relationship with the company. There were not guidelines from the FTC for influencers at that point. There are now, we helped form them. Nothing we did was illegal. — TmarTn (@TmarTn) January 13, 2019 It had nothing to do with ‘kids’ either. No clue why this sentiment has become so prevalent. My audience is primarily 18-25. It was an M rated game. Skins were purchased with credit cards, which are 18+. There were protections on the site as well. — TmarTn (@TmarTn) January 13, 2019 Then, while Martin admitted that there were things that he should have definitely done differently, he argues that there were a lot of allegations made against him presented as fact, and that FTC had cleared both him and Syndicate. The court & FTC had all facts/evidence & made a decision. That’s not luck. That’s how the legal system works. Yes, there are things that we could have (& should have) done differently. Gotta live & learn. Was the hardest and most trying part of my life, but I’m a better person. — TmarTn (@TmarTn) January 13, 2019 He also suggests that H3H3’s video, which was largely responsible for exposing TmarTn and Syndicate’s wrongdoing, was ‘one-sided’ and that Ethan Klein of H3H3 was not in possession of all the facts. He made a lot of misallegations and made statements as facts when they were untrue. Had he reached out, I could have provided him that proof and the story could have been a little less one-sided. People could have known the truth, not just assumed the worst. — TmarTn (@TmarTn) January 13, 2019 Pokimane has recently been accused of wrongly ‘copystriking’ other YouTubers for including her name or content in their videos and an ongoing feud between her and PewDiePie began when fellow YouTuber Alinity suggested that she would do the same to PewDiePie because he used the term ‘thot’. PewDiePie reacted by posting a video to his YouTube channel, which has over 80 million subscribers at the time of writing, called: ‘STOP DOING THIS’. He mentioned Pokimane and the allegations against her, but did sympathize with her situation.

TmarTn upset after Pokimane mocks his apology video in PewDiePie response TmarTn / PokimanePokimane poked some fun at Trevor ‘TmarTn’ Martin with her reaction video to ‘copystrike’ allegations from PewDiePie, but TmarTn didn’t let it go unnoticed.
