However, the platform is looking to wipe its existence on January 6, off the back of controversial statements made by \u201cthe face of the emote.\u201d Ryan \u2018Gootecks\u2019 Gutierrez wrote a tweet about protests in America which the platform deemed was \u201cencouraging further violence.\u201d \u201cWe\u2019ve made the decision to remove the PogChamp emote following statements from the face of the emote encouraging further violence after what took place in the Capitol today,\u201d the platform wrote in their January 6 statement. \u201cWe want the sentiment and use of Pog to live on \u2013 its meaning is much bigger than the person depicted or image itself\u2013 and it has a big place in Twitch culture. However, we can\u2019t in good conscience continue to enable use of the image.\u201d Twitch is looking to work with the community on a replacement emote that encapsulates \u201cthe most hype moments.\u201d However, they are yet to share the exact process in how they\u2019ll do so. BTTV has announced they will not be removing their emotes \u2014 which include POGGERS \u2014 as they have \u201cnever removed emotes due to controversies.\u201d FrankerFaceZ, however, will be removing all variations of the image from their extension. \u201cFollowing Twitch, we\u2019ll be removing depictions of the person from FFZ, but it may take some time,\u201d they said on Twitter.
