While the WHO considers \u2018gaming disorder\u2019 to be a mental illness, others argue that gaming can provide escapism for a player. As two of YouTube and Twitch\u2019s most popular streamers, Valkyrae and Hasan have enjoyed many hours chatting to their fans and friends over a game title. So, understandably, the pair disagreed with a \u201clifetime gamer\u201d who argued that playing video games relentlessly is a \u201cform of depression.\u201d Valkyrae argues that gaming can be an \u201cescape\u201d Valkyrae joined Hasan\u2019s Twitch livestream as the duo spent a good deal of time catching up and watching YouTube videos together. However, they then came across a tweet as the mood turned more serious. The Twitter user claimed: \u201cAs an adult, playing video games for long periods of time is a form of depression [\u2026] Think about the 100 greatest moments of your life. Do any of those moments include video games? Probably not.\u201d However, Valkyrae disagreed saying \u201cpeople definitely use video games as an escape.\u201d Hasan similarly responded by listing some of the \u201cgreatest moments\u201d he\u2019s experience which involve a gaming title. Although, the \u201clifetime gamer\u201d stressed that they weren\u2019t targeting those who\u2019d \u201cturned gaming into a career\u201d such as streamers. Rather, it was more directed for those who \u201cconsistently devote\u201d a good deal of time to playing games. \u201cI\u2019ve had a lot of happy moments with video games,\u201d Valkyrae added. \u201cLike, playing Super Nintendo. Playing Lion King and my sister\u2019s just watching me with the little cheat book.
