Throughout October, and 2022 as a whole, there has been an increase in the number of videos uploaded to the site referencing \u2018almond moms.\u2019 This follows Gigi Hadid\u2019s mother, Yolanda, appearing to respond to accusations of \u201cstarving\u201d her daughter, after a clip resurfaced in which Gigi says, \u201cI\u2019m feeling really weak, I had like half an almond,\u201d and Yolanda responds: \u201cHave a couple of almonds, and chew them really well.\u201d In her video, Yolanda posed in various locations with a large bowl of almonds, captioning the video: \u201c#worstmomever.\u201d The controversy seems to have led to an increase in usage of the term \u201calmond mom,\u201d but what does it mean? The child\u2019s weight is completely irrelevant.\u201d TikTok users have been sharing their experiences with having an \u2018almond mom\u2019 as a parent, talking about how it has affected them, and discussing their experiences with others on the app who have gone through a similar thing.
