His lawyers claim that the 26-year-old\u2019s song caused \u201cimmense damage,\u201d as Astley is \u201cextremely protective\u201d over his image and likeness. Gravy has openly said that his intention was to make the interpolation in \u2018Betty (Get Money)\u2019 sound as close to the original as possible. In a 2022 interview with Billboard, he said that he and Seeley \u201cbasically remade the whole song.\u201d In that interview, Gravy also claimed that Astley \u201cdigs the song.\u201d However, in Astley\u2019s lawsuit, he says \u201cthose statements were all false.\u201d The legal action was filed in Los Angeles on 26 January and first reported by Deadline.
