LCS content creator Travis Gafford claimed on April 3 that Los Angeles-based organization CLG will lay off most of its staff members, with parent company Madison Square Garden Entertainment looking to either sell the brand or shut it down. Gafford said that \u201call staff members\u201d, including Head of CLG Greg Kim, will be let go as part of this massive round of layoffs. The only exception is CLG\u2019s League of Legends division, though it is likely that the LCS franchise slot will be sold to another organization, potentially NRG. The Esports Advocate confirmed that layoffs are happening at CLG, though it wasn\u2019t able to verify \u201cthe scale and scope of the situation\u201d at the organization. CLG Head of Marketing Danielle Fox was one of the first CLG employees to react to the reports, asking the community to \u201cgive us some space right now.\u201d \u201cWe\u2019ll talk about it on Thursday,\u201d she added. \u2018PunsAndBuns\u2019, who works in marketing and social for CLG, posted the famous clip of former Manchester United manager Jos\u00e9 Mourinho saying, \u201cIf I speak, I am in big trouble.\u201d She then added: \u201cI\u2019ve seen esports exist with no money, I\u2019ve seen esports exist with tons of money. As long as there are people who love playing games and people who love running tournaments, esports will never die.\u201d Nemo Zhou, a content creator for CLG, said: \u201cWell, this sucks.\u201d CLG\u2019s esports players react In addition to their League of Legends division, CLG operates teams in CS:GO, Valorant, Fortnite, Apex Legends and Super Smash Bros. CS:GO player Marissa \u2018madss\u2019 Dasta wrote on Twitter: \u201cIt\u2019s been a really hard f***ing day. Just hearbroken.\u201d Her teammate Vivienne \u2018BiBiAhn\u2019 Quach said: \u201cI\u2019m broken. It hurts.\u201d Super Smash Bros. player James \u2018VoiD\u2019 Makekau-Tyson also posted on Twitter, saying: \u201c[I\u2019ve] been on a flight for the last six hours, but there\u2019s just no way, man\u2026\u201d Two of CLG\u2019s LCS players also reacted to the news on Twitter.
