Riot Games sued by female employees over alleged unequal pay and sexual harassment A lawsuit was filed Tuesday, November 6 at the Los Angeles County Superior Court on behalf of current and former female employees accusing the makers of \u201cLeague of Legends\u201d for \u201cgender-based discrimination, retaliation and harassment. Just some of the actions the lawsuit claims to have occurred include \u201ccrotch-grabbing, phantom humping, and sending unsolicited and unwelcome pictures of male genitalia,\u201d according to a story in the L.A. Times. The Times said the suit also claims \u201cRiot Games retaliated against outspoken female employees with \u201cdenied promotions, refusals to provide increased compensation or equal pay, demotions, reassignment with significantly different responsibilities,\u201d and other actions. Riot has already come under fire for sexual harassment after Kotaku wrote a story about the \u201cCulture of Sexism\u201d at the company, and Riot responded to those claims shortly after. Stories on the lawsuit are currently being removed from the League of Legends subreddit, which isn\u2019t unusual according to esports personalities like Christopher \u2018MonteCristo\u2018 Mykles and Richard Lewis. This isn\u2019t the first time the subreddit has been accused of removing posts, as ESPN\u2019s Jacob Wolf previously discussed the matter on Twitter. 600Riot Games spokesman Joe Hixson said in the Time\u2019s story they couldn\u2019t comment on the lawsuit, but \u201cwe can say that we take every allegation of this nature seriously and investigate them thoroughly.\u201d The suit is still in its initial stages at this point, so whether the court decides to move forward remains to be seen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
