Ahead of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth\u2019s release early next year, Square Enix has at last provided the official pronunciation of \u201cCait Sith,\u201d finally solving the debate once and for all. Cait Sith is pronounced the way it\u2019s spelled in English In a tweet, Square Enix shared a graphic that makes clear \u201cCait Sith\u201d is pronounced \u201cKate Sihth.\u201d This is pretty much the way most English speakers would read it, though there has been debate over the name since 1997. Given Cait Sith\u2019s Celtic mythology roots \u2013 the character is inspired by the fairy creature Cat-s\u00ecth \u2013 some believed his name was pronounced like \u201cCaught Shee\u201d or \u201cKet Shee.\u201d To make things more difficult, Cait Sith\u2019s name has yet to be said out loud in a Final Fantasy VII game with voice acting or in the animated film Advent Children. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is set to bring Cait Sith back as a party member, so players will be able to get to know him \u2013 and likely hear his name said out loud \u2013 when the game launches on February 29, 2024.
