Woman divides viewers after buying $30 bag of ice from Erewhon TIKTOK: lizziedushaj \/ WIKIMEDIA COMMONSAn Erewhon customer has gone viral on TikTok after buying a $30 bag of ice balls from the high-end grocery store. TikToker Lizzie Dushaj (lizziedushaj) picked up a $30 bag of eight sphered cocktail ice balls from Erewhon, the California-based grocery store currently going viral for its pricey products. \u201cIt\u2019s meant to be used for whiskey. I don\u2019t even drink alcohol. I\u2019m just an idiot,\u201d she said in her video, which has amassed over 9 million views. \u201cIt\u2019s supposed to be made out of really special minerals that won\u2019t water down your alcohol or something.\u201d Although the store doesn\u2019t mention any \u201cspecial minerals,\u201d it does claim that the ice balls melt slower than traditional ice cubes, and can be used for alcoholic beverages and iced coffees. In her video, Lizzie grabbed an ice ball from the bag to try it. With disappointment in her voice, she said it \u201ctastes like water.\u201d She then dropped it into a glass of water to see whether it\u2019d turn crystal clear as promised. After a brief wait, she retrieved it and was amazed that it looked like a \u201ccrystal ball.\u201d Lizzie then left the ice ball on her sink for 20 minutes. While it ended up looking slightly smaller, it hadn\u2019t melted that much. \u201cI would test out how long it lasts until it melts, but I\u2019m really lazy,\u201d she said. TikTok users in the comments couldn\u2019t believe they just watched someone perform a taste test on ice. \u201cDid I just watch you taste test ice,\u201d one person wrote. \u201cThe taste test took me out,\u201d another said. But most expressed their shock over the ice bag\u2019s price. \u201cI\u2019m convinced we\u2019re in Black Mirror. This is the last straw,\u201d one user shared. \u201cThis is the equivalent of getting premium air in your tires,\u201d another quipped. \u201cMy fridge does this who is paying $30 for that,\u201d a third added. Lizzie later revealed that she didn\u2019t pay for the ice balls. \u201cThe cashier never charged me for it,\u201d she wrote in the comments. \u201cI made a video about it but TikTok took it down for criminal activity.\u201d The prices at Erewhon are by design though, with co-owner Tony Antoci telling The Hollywood Reporter: \u201cWe are catering to the affluent.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
