Taking the event’s name slightly more literally than everyone expected, Epic have deleted Fortnite from pretty much everywhere on October 13. The game is no longer mentioned on the official website, which now takes visitors to a live stream of the black hole instead. The publisher also removed all channels on their official Discord server. Furthermore, all of the tweets on their official twitter page have also been deleted except for one – the livestream for The End event. Of course, this isn’t the end of Fortnite – rather, quite the opposite. As was leaked on the iOS app store a day early, Fortnite ‘Chapter 2’ is expected to launch, although at the time of writing, details are still unknown. What we can expect is a new map, and possibly a major overhaul to the game’s core mechanics and gameplay systems. For now though, everything has gone dark – literally. The game itself was sent to a black hole after the Season 10 event ended, and players were left scratching their heads as to what was next. Our first glimpse of Chapter 2 comes from the leaked image on the Italian iOS store, which appears to show a sliver of the new map. Even livestreaming platform Twitch itself – which suffered a major (unintentional) blackout of its own due to the overwhelming surge in viewers for the event – joked about the situation. Fans were quick to meme about the disappearance of their beloved game, joking that they had now spent all that money on a game that deleted itself. I mean to be honest after all the non stop complaining and trash talking every day on fortnite… what did we expect to happen? :disappointed::thinking_face: — Ninja (@Ninja) October 13, 2019 Other users found that they couldn’t even login to their Epic Games account – although it’s unclear if this was part of the event, or a bug due to the overflow of players.
