Future Fortnite tournaments might ditch the battle royale format entirely Epic Games are considering the idea of hosting Fortnite tournaments without battle royale modes, according to Team Liquid\u2019s Jake \u2018POACH\u2019 Brumleve. Fortnite by nature is a battle royale title, with 100 players jumping out of the Battle Bus, landing on the map and searching for weapons and items as they attempt to eliminate enemies and be the last person or team standing. But with the the introduction of Fortnite\u2019s Creative mode, players can now take part in custom modes that are seperate from the main battle royale mode, and Epic Games could use those special custom modes in future tournaments. During his Thursday, February 21 livestream, Fortnite pro player Jake \u2018POACH\u2019 Brumleve stated that the developers were discussing the possibility of future tournaments being played away from the battle royale format. \u201cFortnite has a lot of possibilities outside of battle royales,\u201d POACH told his viewers. \u201cI\u2019ve talked to the developers about it, and it\u2019s something they are considering. With Creative being added, more tournaments could be based around stuff that isn\u2019t battle royale.\u201d While it\u2019s possible that Epic Games hosts tournaments with different modes in the future, the developers are about to hold a battle royale tournament at the ESL Katowice Royale, although some of Fortnite\u2019s biggest names such as Turner \u2018Tfue\u2019 Tenney and Dennis \u2018Cloak\u2019 Lepore look set to pull out of the event.
