The Fortnite devs introduced the Storm Flip in the v9.20 update, and while it added a new dimension to how players maneuver in the zone, it looks the tournament organizers are keeping it away from official competitive matches. The Epic Rarity throwable item lets players create a sphere-shaped zone upon impact that either provides for a safe haven in the storm or a storm in the safe zone. In a Reddit post, Producer at Epic Games Matt \u2018Loomin\u2019 Layman didn\u2019t give much of a reason for the item being disabled, but notified the fan base of where they can expect to see the Storm Flipped disabled. \u201cWe will be temporarily be disabling the Storm Flip for this weekend\u2019s tournament,\u201d Loomin said. \u201cAll regions will play the Week 9 Fortnite World Cup Online Open with the Storm Flip disabled.\u201d Furthermore, the Storm Flip is going to be disabled in Arena playlists for the time being, at least \u201cuntil the weekend tournament concludes.\u201d We&#8217;ve disabled the Storm Flip in Arena and the Week 9 Online Open this weekend.
