Fortnite Season 10 has been quite different from the seasons that have paved the way for it, with fans regularly voicing their opinion on what they don’t approve of. Many players were vocal in their dislike of the BRUTE Mech suits – even though Epic moved to back their introduction for the majority of the season. Yet, one other major change that not everyone has approved of has been skill-based matchmaking, which pools players from all platforms into lobbies depending on a determined skill rank from Epic. Despite the developers giving their thoughts on the major update, not everyone has been happy with the response. On October 10, FaZe Clan’s Thiefs let his anger out and vented right at the direction of Epic Games’ Twitter account. Skill based matchmaking is not fun and not good or healthy for the game. People just wanna play pubs and it’s not fun to even just play casually anymore.. — FaZe Thiefs (@Thiefs) October 10, 2019 The usual ‘solution’ to this problem that Fortnite fans suggest is hitting up the Arena playlist, but there have been complaints about long loading times in the higher divisions. Thiefs’ fellow FaZe member Replays added that he’d opt to play Arena instead, but it’s “too bad” that it “takes like 30 minutes” to get into a match when he’s in the Champions division. I wish I could play arena and have mats per kill and health, that’d definitely feel a lil more casual. Too bad it takes like 30 minutes to get into a game when you’re in champions☹️ — FaZe Replays (@Replays) October 10, 2019 Not everyone agreed with Thiefs’ stance, though, as members of the FortniteCompetitive subreddit noted that the changes had stopped content creators from dominating lobbies against weaker players. While calls for changes will continue as Fortnite fans gear up for Season 11, it remains to be seen if Epic Games will respond to the cries with a revert – just like they have in the past. It’s worth noting, though, that other high profile Fortnite players may not agree that skill-based matchmaking is an issue for the game. In fact, popular streamer Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins has argued that it’s actually the only thing keeping Fortnite interesting for casual players. Reverting back to the ways thing were would certainly be a sweeping change, especially after the developers defended their new system, but whether that happens or not is a guessing game for now.

FaZe Thiefs explains why skill-based matchmaking is “ruining” Fortnite Thiefs/Epic GamesFaZe Clan’s Fortnite streamer Nicholas ‘Thiefs’ Smorto has slammed Epic Games for “ruining” their own game with skill-based matchmaking.
