Before Fortnite was a household name, Epic were known for the creation of the Unreal Engine, as well as the Gears of War franchise, which has since been handed over to Microsoft. In 2020, hopping onto the Epic Games train is highly lucrative, and it seems that Sussman is down for the ride. This hire comes on the heels of Epic\u2019s previous president, Paul Meegan, stepping down back in June 2019. Meegan had been with the company since 2012 until his departure. He broke the news of his departure on his LinkedIn profile. \u201cAfter 5.5 great years at Nike, I have decided to move on to my next opportunity as President of Epic Games,\u201d Sussman wrote on LinkedIn. \u201cNike is an amazing brand, I got a chance to work with many great people and I am so proud of what we accomplished together. While it\u2019s bittersweet, I am so excited to join Epic and honored to be part of the remarkable team that has built one of the biggest games in the world.\u201d Before taking this position, Sussman was with Zynga, EA, Take-Two, and The Walt Disney Company. His time at both Zynga and EA revolved around mobile gaming, which makes his jump to Epic even more interesting. Fortnite is available to play on mobile devices, and while this iteration hasn\u2019t been around as long as its stint on other platforms, it continues to boast a large playerbase. As Epic continues to grow the game worldwide, its mobile version could be a big part of the game\u2019s expansion, moving forward.
