Fortnite players worldwide are trying to install the Chapter 5 Season 2 update as fast as possible to play the new season ready for when the scheduled downtime ends. The Season 2 Myths and Mortals downtime period was only supposed to last a few hours when it was first scheduled, as players had hoped to get stuck in with playing the Greek god-themed season. However, they have now announced that the downtime period for maintenance regarding Season 2\u2019s update has had to be further extended by at least 8 hours. Fortnite players shocked over Chapter 5 Season 2 downtime delay Epic Games posted to their Fortnite Status account on Twitter\/X to confirm that the downtime extension: \u201cHey everyone, we encountered an unexpected issue during our maintenance and we need to extend downtime at least 8 additional hours. \u201cWe apologize for making everyone wait longer than usual to drop into Chapter 5 Season 2 of Battle Royale. The team is working through this as quickly as possible, and we\u2019ll provide another update when we have more info.\u201d Players who have been patiently waiting to drop into the game to play the new Myths and Mortals season have flooded the comments to express their disbelief. One player stated: \u201c8 hours is absurd,\u201d and another added: \u201cAt least 8 hours!
