Despite the event’s open availability that gives undiscovered amateur players a chance, the biggest names in Fortnite are also involved. The event is a series of matches in a special playlist that rewards points based on eliminations, Victory Royales and average placings – the top 200 players from each region will advance to the finals. To catch up on the format in detail, you can check out Dexerto’s Winter Skirmish guide hub. Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins was dealing with an illness that prevented him from streaming, however he posted a screenshot of his qualifying scores from the event. The face of Fortnite posted an impressive score of 29, good enough to be in a qualifying position after one day. To sick to stream but my first attempt I got 29! First sesh. As fun as this was, it was also pretty tilting. Not sure if i’m ready for round 2 lmfao pic.twitter.com/GhWLLEJJ7T — Vivid (@VividFN) November 24, 2018 FaZe Clan’s Nate Hill, who recently called out Fortnite amateurs for complaining about a lack of opportunity, did not place in the top 200 after the first day. He tweeted his frustrations during the event. 100 Thieves player Kenith was the opposite of Hill and tweeted about how proud he was for not tilting at all. It helped that he put up one of the best scores in the region, 32 points for 28th place. I’m actually most proud of the fact that I didn’t tilt at all today. Even with all the 2nd places. In fact, I feel my performance can be completely attributed to that. — 100T Kenith (@kenith) November 25, 2018 Finally, it was a rough event for the current champions of Fortnite, FaZe duo Turner ‘Tfue’ Tenney and Dennis ‘Cloak’ Lepore. Tfue only managed 24 points, four points shy of a qualifying position, and was controversially eliminated by a cheater. Cloak did not participate in the event at all due to a scheduling conflict. TSM’s Ali ‘Myth’ Kabbani, who wanted to enjoy Thanksgiving leftovers on Saturday instead of qualifying, also placed outside of the top 200. Welp, dinner with my family so I have to stop trying to qualify for a 1 million dollar tournament. Ohh I wonder the thought it would be the brightest idea to plan this shit on one of the biggest American holidays.
