Aim assist has become a hot topic among the Fortnite community over the past few weeks, with many coming out and claiming that it’s power gives those who choose to use controllers over keyboard and mouse an unfair advantage, something which those who wield gamepads vehemently deny. While most Fortnite pros use the computer peripherals to play, NICKMERCS is one of the few that use controller, and while he has always been a staunch supporter of the use of gamepads, the streamer once again came to the defence of those who use them as the criticism continues to flow. While playing alongside fellow FaZe Clan member Kyle ‘Mongraal’ Jackson, the pair got into a discussion about the system which helps those on controllers aim by dragging their crosshairs towards enemies when they target close to an opponent. While Mongraal was staunchly against it, claiming it needed to receive a major nerf, his American teammate was less keen on the idea, claiming that good players are dangerous no matter what peripheral they’re using. “I really do agree that it’s easier to aim in some aspects on controller with aim assist,” the 29-year-old explained. “It’s also easier to aim in some aspects with the mouse, it just depends on how you look at it. Listen man, I’m never going to agree that they should take it out of the game and change it. They’ve given multiple different looks at it. I’ve seen [pro controller] highlights, I’ve seen Unknown, he’s a f**king beast.” The streamer continued: “But you can’t sit there and tell me that he doesn’t work endlessly on his box fights and all the editing, and the game knowledge. He’s been doing that sh*t for a minute. Have you seen some of the PC guys? It’s the same sh*t. Triple66 with the burst [rifle]. If you’re good, like you are, then you know what you can f**king do.” Some players remain convinced that controller players have an advantage, with World Cup Winner Kyle ‘Bigha’ Giersdorf stunned when he tried it out, while Ali ‘Myth’ Kabbani claimed he was going to join the “controller army” when he gave it a shot back in December. NICKMERCS certainly has no intention of ditching his gamepad, but it seems he feels that the controversy surrounding aim assist on controllers is out of control, and good players will take down bad ones no matter what peripheral they’re using.

NICKMERCS explains why Fortnite shouldn’t change controller aim assist Fortnite professional player and FaZe Clan streamer Nick ‘NICKMERCS’ Kolcheff has explained why the game’s aim assist for those who use controllers isn’t too powerful, as plays continue to criticize the feature and claim it’s too much.
