Initially announced in 2012, confirmed in 2018, and fully revealed in 2019, Cyberpunk 2077 is arguably the game that most people are looking forward to playing in 2020. Although the recent announcement that pushed back its release date a few months definitely disappointed eager fans, there’s no doubt that the anticipation will only continue to grow as more information about it surfaces between now and September. The latest news came courtesy of CD Projekt Red’s John Mamais, who went into details about the game in a recent interview with OnMSFT. Read More: Cyberpunk 2077 content plan leaked – According to Mamais, in addition to boasting what most already know will be an incredible main campaign, Cyberpunk 2077 will also feature a massive amount of side content for players to enjoy and use to level up their character. Cyberpunk 2077 – street stories and side quests Mamais revealed that the game will have a “couple of layers,” – a passive layer and street stories, as well as additional “minor activities.” All this side content will give players plenty to do when they’re not pursuing the main storyline, so it’s safe to say this won’t be a game that most will finish quickly. “There’s like 15 people doing these open-world quests,” he said. “There’s a couple of layers. There’s a passive layer, which is the vendors, then there’s the STSs, which are the street stories. I think there’s around 75 street stories. Then there’s minor activities, as well.” Read More: Cyberpunk 2077 producer hints at Switch port – But what are street stories? According to the developer, they’re “like little quests. There’s story but there’s not, like, advanced cinematic storytelling sequences so much. They’re a way to explore the world and level up your character.” Global Illumination lighting Mamais also touched upon Cyberpunk 2077’s lighting system, called Global Illumination, which uses a group of algorithms in 3D computer graphics to make the lighting in 3D scenes look more realistic. “There is some stuff that hasn’t been talked about such as the way that it’s been lit,” he revealed. “Our director keeps talking about the real-time global illumination system which we haven’t really seen in its full beauty yet. No one in the public has seen how it’s finally going to look. It’s going to look more breathtaking than we’ve seen so far.” Everyone already thinks the game looks great before even seeing it with this lighting system in place, so in all likelihood, it’ll end up looking even more incredible on release. Cyberpunk 2077 is scheduled for release on September 17 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia. It was originally slated to launch on April 16, but was delayed after CD Projekt Red revealed that they wanted more to polish the game and finish playtesting.

Cyberpunk 2077 dev reveals insane amount of content & side missions CD Projekt RedCyberpunk 2077 is one of the 2020’s most highly-anticipated games, and a developer from CD Projekt Red has added to the hype after revealing more details about the dystopian open-world RPG.
