Final Fantasy VII remake delayed by over a month Square Enix have announced that the highly anticipated Final Fantasy 7 remake will be delayed by over a month, with a new release date of April 10, 2020. Initially scheduled for release on March 3, the remake of the classic 1997 FFVII is easily one of the most anticipated new releases coming out this year. It was the third most pre-ordered game at Gamestop after E3 2019. But, those fans eager for their nostalgia hit, and new fans buying into the hype, will need to extend their hype for a month longer, as developers Square Enix have pushed back the launch date. The developers have said in a statement on January 14 that this delay will give them time to apply the final \u201cpolish\u201d to the game. \u201cIn order to ensure we deliver a game that is in-line with our vision, and the quality that our fans who have been waiting for deserve,\u201d the statement begins, \u201cwe have decided to move the release date to April 10, 2020.\u201d The statement also includes an apology, for making fans wait \u201cfor the game just a little bit longer.\u201d The FFVII remake will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 4, and aims to be a true homage to the original. Developers who worked on the first game have returned for the remake, including the lead character designer, director and producer. Their full statement can be read below: \u201cWe know that so many of you are looking forward to the release of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE and have been waiting patiently to experience what we have been working on. In order to ensure we deliver a game that is in-line with our vision, and the quality that our fans who have been waiting for deserve, we have decided to move the release date to April 10, 2020. We are making this tough decision in order to give ourselves a few extra weeks to apply final polish to the game and to deliver you with the best possible experience.
