Below you can use our Guilty Gear Strive character tier list to figure out who the best fighters are — and which ones should be avoided during the current meta. Guilty Gear Strive is considered royalty when it comes to anime 2D fighting games, but it takes skill and patience to master and overcome powerful opponents. This is why it pays to keep an eye on the Guilty Gear Strive tier lists to see which characters in the game are considered the most overpowered and useful. Guilty Gear Strive tier lists change often as characters get updated and altered by the developers. The game’s active community also frequently discusses and ranks the characters on a monthly basis. While the characters sometimes rise and fall in the rankings, there are some constants too. With Elphelt newly released, check out our current Guilty Gear Strive tier list below to see who’s on top at the end of 2023. While the following list isn’t exhaustive, they should provide a good starting point for experimenting in the current meta. Contents Guilty Gear Strive character tier list explained (December 2023) Below is a brief explanation of what each Guilty Gear Strive tier represents: S tier: Characters in this tier are undoubtedly the best ones to use in the game’s current form – if not overpowered. – A tier: Although not the absolute strongest characters, they can still be devastating and are a cut above the rest. – B tier: These characters are still worth using but lag behind those in the A tier. – D tier: These characters are currently considered the least powerful and should only be used for fun or by those who have mastered their moveset. However, the player will be at a disadvantage when compared to characters in higher tiers. – Guilty Gear Strive S tier Characters currently considered S tier include: Ramelthal and Chipp have both been dominating the rankings in recent months, with Ramelthal in particular with a high number of favorable match ups. However, multiple pro players including Zando and Leffen have ranked Chipp in the highest tier since October, which means he’s probably worth checking out, although with 8 unfavorable match ups for him at the moment, including Faust, he’s only worth picking if you’re confident of his kit. Guilty Gear Strive A tier Characters currently considered A tier include: Since Season 3 dropped in August there has been a bit of movement in the A tier ranks. As pointed out by long time ArcSys pro player, Lord Knight, Happy Chaos is still a winner, however his resource management style can make for difficulties in some match ups, we’ve dropped him down to A for now, but he may move up again in the new year. Guilty Gear Strive B tier Characters currently considered B tier include: Elphelt Valentine arrived in Strive early December, and a meta is beginning to form around her. Her gameplay focuses around mixup and rushdowns, and she seems well-rounded. She’s also a favorable match up against both Chipp and May right now, but her win rate in other match ups isn’t quite as strong, which is why she’s been placed in B tier for now. But, we’ll be keeping an eye on her movements as Season 3 progresses. Guilty Gear Strive C tier Characters currently considered C tier include: Testament has dropped heavily in rankings from earlier in the year, and without some buffs, Season 3 looks like it is shaping up to be tough for her. While, Johnny was released back in August alongside the start of Season 3, right now he’s become overplayed, making him a poor pick until the meta changes. Character rankings change in Guilty Gear Strive, and it’s always good to experiment, so don’t be afraid to play with one of the C-tier characters and learn their moves to see if they work for you.
