Last Epoch has had a rocky official launch, with players review bombing the title on Steam after server issues resulted in downtime. But, despite the hiccups, there’s been a lot of positivity for the new ARPG. Even long-time Blizzard fanboy Asmongold chimed in with his two cents, commending “the fluidity of the gameplay”. In fact, according to some players, there’s one aspect to the gameplay that Eleventh Hour Games have “nailed” — Necromancers. “No ARPG since Diablo 2, bar Grim Dawn, has truly captured the gameplay and essence of Necromancy,” the OP of the thread wrote, and they weren’t the only player who felt that way. “Always played a nerco class first. Finally someone got it right!” another agreed before the conversation turned to the elephant in the room — the current state of Necromancers and Druids in Diablo 4. “The D4 developers have zero clue why people enjoy minion builds,” lamented one user. Echoing a sentiment many fans of the classes have been sharing since the launch of Season of the Construct. “Necro? Do you mean bone sorc?” another player joked, making light of the fact Necromancers are more powerful in Diablo 4’s endgame without their skeletal minions in tow. Minion builds have been a big point of contention for Diablo 4 this season. There are complaints about the viability of classes like necromancer and druid, and the decision to dilute the core theme of the classes — by giving everyone their own companion, the Seneschal, in Season 3. Last Epoch offers a lot of flexibility for fans of minions. There are multiple caster-summoner builds for players to experiment with, including Squirrel Beastmaster and Unlimited Wraiths Necromancer to name a few. How exactly Last Epoch’s minion-based classes will hold up in the patches to come is anyone’s guess. But for now, it seems like it’s a breath of fresh air for those who’ve been feeling stifled by Blizzard’s lack of commitment to caster summoners in D4.

Last Epoch players praise devs for ‘nailing the essence’ of Diablo 2’s necromancer Eleventh Hour GamesLast Epoch fans are praising the devs for the game’s necromancer class, claiming “No ARPG since Diablo 2” has “truly captured the gameplay and essence” of Necromancers.
