The Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) remake was announced back at a PlayStation Showcase in 2021, the much-loved RPG making a return once again. However, its development has hit a few snags. On November 18, Giant Bomb\u2019s Jeff Brubb claimed the KOTOR remake was no longer being worked on, saying at the time, \u201cThis game is not being worked on right now. Full stop. This game is not being worked on in any way at any studio.\u201d This claim arrived shortly after Sony scrubbed all trailers of the KOTOR remake from its social media accounts on September 29, with trailers on YouTube made private and tweets about the game deleted. Most recently, reports have suggested the game is dead in the water. However, despite the bad news, the game may still be in active development despite the studio behind it staying quiet. According to veteran games journalist Jason Schreier, he confirmed that Saber is still working on the game as of November 21. Though it may just be a skeleton crew. \u201c\u2018Is it alive?\u2019 and \u2018Will it ever actually come out?\u2019 are two very different questions. A third is \u2018if it does come out, what will it actually look like?\u2019\u201d Schreier said in response to a comment on Resetera. He continued, \u201cThat said, I\u2019ve talked to two people at Saber who both say they\u2019re still currently working on it, so I don\u2019t believe that the comment that it isn\u2019t being worked on \u2018in any way\u2019 right now is true.\u201d Schreier added on Twitter, \u201cCan\u2019t say whether the KOTOR remake will ever actually *come out*, but yes, two people from Saber Interactive tell me they\u2019re still on it, despite recent rumors that nobody is working on the game. (Saber took the project from Aspyr last year, as Bloomberg reported then).\u201d Saber Interactive, who is in charge of the development of the KOTOR remake has yet to comment on the reports.
