Although the game was previously scheduled to be released in May 2023, it was eventually delayed until 2024 by Rocksteady following massive fan backlash to the initial reveal trailer. I am Batman!\u201d It ends with a line of text on the screen, which reads \u201cThank you, Kevin.\u201d State of Play Gameplay Trailer During Sony\u2019s February 2023 PlayStation State of Play, Rocksteady unveiled an all-new gameplay trailer focused on co-op. The six-minute video offered a closer look at the mechanics of each playable Task Force X member, including Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, King Shark, and Harley Quinn. The State of Play broadcast also proved the recent battle pass leaks held some merit. Developers confirmed that support for the game will continue after launch in the form of new playable characters, missions, and weapons. Meanwhile, the battle pass will exclusively target cosmetic items, though the specifics remain under wraps. Insider trailers Following the initial delay, the Suicide Squad development team began releasing new trailers showing of their updated vision for the game, including how they decided to overhaul gameplay and storytelling. The second trailer focuses on a returning villain, but be warned: spoilers are present in this trailer. Aside from the spoilers, a new gameplay addition has been revealed \u2014 afflictions. Similar to games like Destiny or Borderlands, afflictions are elemental debuffs to foes. You\u2019ll be able to add these to melee weapons and grenades to mix and match your approach. There are four afflictions based on popular DC characters, with \u201cDiablo Blaze\u201d and \u201cDeep Freeze\u201d shown off. The third Insider Episode follows what Rocksteady Studios is looking to do post-launch. The main draw is The Joker, as the studio confirmed the menace will be the first post-launch character to join Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League via Elseworlds. Each subsequent season will introduce a new character via Elseworlds, Brainiac\u2019s plan for creating new worlds in alternate realities. The game is described as an open-world action-adventure shooter that can be played by up to four players (solo players can switch between characters at will). Playable characters There are four playable characters, and they\u2019ll all be familiar to longtime comic fans \u2013 or anyone who\u2019s enjoyed the Suicide Squad movies. Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang are included, presumably each with their own gameplay abilities. Sadly, though, it appears the roster won\u2019t be growing anytime soon. As reported by PCGamesN, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League will eschew the live-service aspirations of something like Marvel\u2019s Avengers. So while we\u2019d have loved an appearance by Killer Croc, you won\u2019t get one in this outing.
