GTA 6 to take place in modern times and might have flashbacks In a series of posts on Reddit discussing his GTA 6 report, Jason Schreier was asked about the game and what time period it would be set in. \u201cAs far as I know, the main game is set in modern times,\u201d he wrote, but didn\u2019t rule out the possibility that players could be jumping around a bit. \u201cI can\u2019t rule out any flashbacks or excursions.\u201d Of course, GTA 5 began quite a few years before the start of the main story, so it\u2019s possible that Rockstar does something similar with GTA 6 at some point.
