James Charles turns off comments on viral TikTok after lockdown backlash James CharlesJames Charles turned off comments on a viral TikTok video of him dancing with his friends in front of a house in Christmas outfits after fans claimed it was inappropriate given the current lockdown in Los Angeles. James Charles is no stranger to controversy and criticism. He’s been caught up in everything from dishing out nasty rants on social media to allegedly ripping off Ethan Klein’s H3H3 merchandise. However, he’s copped a lot of hate, too, even in circumstances where it wasn’t warranted at all. Still, it hasn’t stopped him from snowballing his success even further and becoming one of the most popular influencers. Unfortunately, James Charles has found himself in hot water once again. It revolves around his latest viral video, which shows him dancing outside a house with Larray and Charli D’Amelio while wearing Christmas outfits. He released a similar one with Dixie D’Amelio too. Some fans think the videos are inappropriate given the current lockdown situation in Los Angeles. Others argue there’s nothing wrong with it since it’s happening on their property and claim it was filmed several weeks ago. Either way, James Charles ultimately decided to disable the comments on the video. He hasn’t made an official statement, but it’s fair to assume he probably wanted to stop the bickering between fans from spreading. The controversy has seen the videos generate more than 70 million views and around 20 million likes. So, the discussion between impassioned fans on either side of the issue was growing like a wildfire. View this post on Instagram In the end, though, there are valid points on both sides. But while it’s important to discuss them, it’s also important to keep things civil. James Charles and other influencers will inevitably be subject to criticism, and that’s okay. Just don’t forget that they’re people too.

  • James Charles under fire for allegedly using racial slur on Instagram – Dexerto

James Charles under fire for allegedly using racial slur on Instagram James Charles is in the spotlight after allegedly using a racial slur in an Instagram story. He was singing along to a hip-hop track on January 1 when he was accused of using racist language, but some are questioning whether he did actually repeat the lyric. The make-up star was out partying alongside some close friends to celebrate the New Year. He shared some moments from the night on Instagram, which included him singing along to Saweetie’s ‘My Type.’ The 12-second clip has landed the YouTuber in trouble though, with some fans alleging that he said the n-word twice while smashing out the rapper’s hit. “Why is nobody talking about James Charles saying the n-word two times in an Instagram story,” said ‘JoacoSevitz’ on Twitter. https://twitter.com/JoacoSevitz/status/1212414869619785730 While the track does include the slur as a lyric, others have questioned whether he used the exact words, or just had his mouth open at the wrong time. “I listened to it and I didn’t hear him say it,” said keribear101 on Twitter. “I hate James as much as anyone else but I think people got this one wrong.” https://twitter.com/keribear101/status/1212484451072184330 James Charles himself has denied the claims, saying that he would have to be “stupid” to leave a video of him using the slur up overnight. “Turn up the volume and listen, I skip over it,” he said. “How stupid would I have to be to confidently record a video of me singing the n-word and still have it up the next morning.” no? turn up the volume & listen, I skip over it. how stupid would I have to be to confidently record a video of me singing the n word and still have it up the next morning — James Charles (@jamescharles) January 1, 2020 The hashtag #jamescharlesisoverparty was trending across the world on Twitter after the incident, with many people calling to “cancel” Charles – although they are sceptical about whether it will affect his career. “I feel like this is the 100th time this sh*t has trended,” said ‘fredsfitzell’. “Y’all ended his a** so many times but keep coming back the moment he makes a video shedding his fake tears.” Posting on Twitter, parkyourjimins said: “We already knew how James [Charles] is, but y’all cancel him every other month and then still [f**k with] him a month later and buy his sh*t.” https://twitter.com/fredsfitzell/status/1212490720021495812 https://twitter.com/parkyourjimins/status/1212482371628552193 It’s not the first time Charles has had to deal with controversy. Most notably, in May 2019, he was accused by fellow YouTuber Tati Westbrook of using his fame to manipulate straight men “to have them behave sexually in [his] favor.” The accusations sparked a frenzy on social media, but Charles later cleared them up, debunking most of Tati’s claims, and despite the initial backlash, quickly regained subscribers and public favor.

  • James Charles seemingly throws shade at Tati during Kylie Jenner party – Dexerto

James Charles seemingly throws shade at Tati during Kylie Jenner party James Charles, Instagram / Tati Westbrook, YouTubeBeauty YouTuber James Charles has made the comeback of a lifetime, following damaging allegations from Tati Westbrook – but he seems to have one more message in response to the drama. While Charles stated that he is taking a YouTube hiatus after addressing Tati’s claims in full, he continues to post via his other social media accounts, documenting his experience at the launch party of Kylie Jenner’s new skincare line on his Instagram story. Between his photos with major celebrities and other influencers, Charles uploaded a video with social media stars Nikita Dragun and Gabriel Zamora – another YouTuber who Tati took issue with in her account against James. 600In the video, James, Nikita, and Gabriel walk down a hallway holding hands to the tune of rapper Iggy Azalia’s latest song, ‘Started,’ after which they turn to look at the camera in unison. Read More: Corinna Kopf hits back at allegations of being involved in Tfue’s FaZe Clan contract drama – This video seems to be a pointed response to Tati’s claims, considering that the lyrics rapped in the video are as follows: “You started to say sorry, but fuck that shit/ You started out hating, but you love my drip.” While Charles has yet to address the clip, taken from Nikita Dragun’s own Instagram story, the YouTuber has claimed that he is recovering from the drama by doing things that make him happy, such as “playing with makeup and being social.” I said I wouldn’t be filming for a bit and would pop in on my other socials, point being to focus on living rather than forcing content. Healing for me consists of doing things that make me happy, such as playing with makeup & being social, instead of laying in bed all day. — James Charles (@jamescharles) May 22, 2019 Charles isn’t the only one taking a breather from the internet, either; Tati herself went on a “digital break” following the release of Charles’ “No More Lies” video, claiming that she will not be making “any further public comments” on her issues with James. Makeup mogul Jeffree Star likewise took a step back from the debacle, after deleting several Tweets – one of which claimed to have “receipts” that would expose James for “manipulating” his audience. “I don’t want to play the games anymore,” Star said in response to the issue. “…I am not going to fuel this fire bigger so everyone can get more entertainment. Because, behind the scenes, this isn’t funny. These are our real lives.” Charles has since seen a massive upswing in subscribers, even jumping back to his previous 15 million subscriber milestone just days after uploading his final response to Tati’s allegations.

  • James Charles transforms into Dua Lipa after fans claim they look alike – Dexerto

James Charles transforms into Dua Lipa after fans claim they look alike Dua Lipa, Instagram / James Charles, YouTubeYouTube star and beauty guru James Charles has finally addressed the overwhelming sentiment that he and music artist Dua Lipa look alike with a shocking makeup transformation. Although James Charles boasts his own iconic style, fans across the web have been claiming that he sports a similar look to massively popular celebrity and singer Dua Lipa. In fact, Charles even mistook himself for the artist in late 2019, after doing a double take at a picture of Lipa on the red carpet at the American Music Awards. Needless to say, his hilarious comparison sparked a slew of other posts analyzing their appearance — so much so that it has since become a popular bandwagon meme across the net. Thus, Charles decided to acknowledge the speculation once and for all with a humorous makeup tutorial that “transformed” himself into Dua Lipa. “Now, I will say, the public has never seen myself and Dua Lipa in the same place at the same time,” he joked. “So you can form your own opinions.” The makeup artist went on to copy Lipa’s iconic look, taking special care to contour his nose to mimic her own nose shape and adding her signature bright eyeshadow to pull the ensemble together. Considering Charles’ skill with makeup, it comes as little surprise that the beauty guru was able to pull off his first-ever celebrity transformation with flying colors (although his natural resemblance to the singer may have helped). Even he was shocked after donning a wig in the similar style of Lipa’s hair from one of her Instagram posts, giving a shocked, “Oh my god! That’s Dua Lipa!” upon looking in the mirror, which was then echoed by other bystanders in the room. “Oh my god, you guys, this is absolutely crazy!” he exclaimed. “Holy crap! I’ve gotten the references, I’ve seen the similarities, but oh my god. …now, I am literally Dua Lipa.” While the singer has yet to respond to Charles’ insane lookalike makeup transformation, it’s safe to say that the two have never looked more similar. Perhaps he could pull off an impersonation to get VIP access at an event, much like an Ed Sheeran impersonator who scored special treatment at the KSI vs Logan Paul fight in 2018.

  • James Charles’ Tati apology already one of the most disliked YouTube videos ever – Dexerto

James Charles’ Tati apology already one of the most disliked YouTube videos ever James Charles‘ subscriber count has been in a free fall since being called out by Tati Westbrook and now his apology video is in the top 10 most disliked videos on all of YouTube. It has been a rough week for James Charles as he has lost his top spot as YouTube’s biggest beauty channel after being called out and exposed in a video by Tati Westbrook, detailing his behavior around her and other people. He released an apology video addressing Tati and everyone he hurt, but his fans didn’t seem to buy it as that video has now crossed over 2.7 million dislikes. James Charles is breaking records daily Before Tati released her video, James Charles was over 16 million subscribers on YouTube, but since she released it, he has dropped down to 13.5 million and the number is shrinking by the minute. He tried to stave off the hordes of people abandoning ship by addressing everything in a video but that obviously didn’t work. His video, simply titled “tati” now has 41 million views but also 2.7 million dislikes and counting. This number is so large that it is now breaking into territory no YouTuber wants to be. If the video keeps up its current pace, which it seems like it is going to, it will be mentioned in the same breath as videos like the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare reveal trailer, YouTube Rewind 2018 and the viral hit song Despacito. Jame Charles still has a while before he catches those videos, but it’s definitely not out of the realm of possibilities. What are the most disliked videos? YouTube’s top 10 most disliked videos are split between music videos and normal videos, showing that viewers don’t discriminate between what they dislike. Here’s what the current top 10 most disliked videos are. YouTube Rewind 2018 – Justin Bieber ft. Ludacris – Baby – Jake Paul ft. Team 10 – It’s Everyday Bro – Can this video get 1 million dislikes? – Luis Fonsi ft. Daddy Yankee – Despacito – Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Reveal Trailer – Rebecca Black – Friday – How It Is (Wap Bap …) – tati – Cortando o Botão do YouTube – It’ll be interesting to see where “tati” ends up when it’s all said and done.

  • James Charles teases huge Among Us game with Corpse, Dream, Pokimane & more – Dexerto

James Charles teases huge Among Us game with Corpse, Dream, Pokimane & more Instagram: Pokimane / YouTube: James Charles, Corpse Husband / InnerSlothYouTube star and beauty guru James Charles may have just teased one of the biggest games of Among Us we’ve seen yet, tagging massively popular personalities like Corpse Husband, Dream, and many more. InnerSloth’s whodunnit-style game took over the entire internet last year — two years after its initial release — due to its group-based gameplay and hilarious moments that can arise at any time as players attempt to determine the impostor in their midst. In that timeframe, quite a few content creators also rose to prominence in part because of their hilarious Among Us playthroughs, with the likes of Corpse Husband and more gaining millions of subscribers. Since then, internet personalities from the “mainstream” have even jumped in on the trend, as seen when TikTok star Addison Rae tried her hand at the game with Dream and Quackity. Now, makeup mogul James Charles is getting in on the hype, and he’s bringing some of the game’s most popular players along with him for a huge lobby that will undoubtedly score an impressive amount of viewers. On February 25, James Charles sent out a surprising tweet that tagged some of Among Us’s biggest names: Dream, Corpse Husband, GeorgeNotFound, Valkyrae, Pokimane, Disguised Toast, Sykkuno, TommyInnit, Quackity, and Karl Jacobs, to be exact. “Y’all ready for tomorrow?” he asked — and while it’s not 100% certain that an Among Us lobby is exactly what he’s got in mind for February 26, it certainly seems to be that way, considering the sheer number of players he tagged who have quite a history with the game. heyyyyy @Dream @GeorgeNotFound @Corpse_Husband @Valkyrae @pokimanelol @DisguisedToast @Sykkuno @tommyinnit @Quackity @KarlJacobs_ y’all excited for tomorrow? — James Charles (@jamescharles) February 25, 2021 At the time of writing, Charles’ tweet has certainly amped up the hype, garnering over 32k likes and counting as more and more of the tagged players chime in. Charles himself has a fairly decent Among Us track record of sorts, having played an “IRL” version of the game with fellow YouTube stars before. That being said, these players could be grouping up for something similar, although considering the current health crisis, a virtual Among Us lobby seems more probable. There’s no set time for their broadcast just yet, but it’s certainly worth keeping an eye on for those interested in seeing what sort of antics this star-studded squad will get into in just 24 hours’ time.

  • James Charles stunned by 100T Froste’s bizarre reply to Chick-fil-A tweet – Dexerto

James Charles stunned by 100T Froste’s bizarre reply to Chick-fil-A tweet Instagram: @jamescharles / Twitter: @Froste / 100 ThievesYouTube star James Charles was left stunned after he posted an innocent tweet about wanting food from Chick-fil-A and 100 Thieves member Froste responded with the most unexpected of replies. In the USA, Chick-fil-A is often regarded as having one of the best chicken fast food menus, largely thanks to its sandwiches. Unfortunately for fans of the chain, it is closed on Sundays everywhere. Makeup mogul James Charles is no exception to the buzz surrounding the restaurant, and took to Twitter to profess his sadness over it being shut that day – something which then caused Froste to respond in a rather strange way. Froste’s bizarre Twitter reply On January 19, the 20-year-old tweeted “Why do I always crave chick fil a on sundays” alongside a straight face emoji to signal that he was frustrated at himself for wanting it on the day the restaurant is closed. Of all the people to reply to his post, one in particular caught the American’s eye: a response from The Mob’s Froste. “My a** is juicier than a chick fil a sandwich if u hungry…” he said in a rather bizarre and unexpected tweet. Upon seeing this, the beauty YouTuber shared a hilarious reaction. “Suddenly I’m full,” he replied, clearly as shocked as everyone else at the questionable comment. Fellow The Mob member Mako found the situation absolutely hysterical and responded to James with “Froste tappin out for the rest of the week.” He also included the infamous a meme of American sports TV personality Stephen A Smith shouting “I am having a very bad day” after basketball team the Knicks received the number three overall pick at the 2019 NBA Draft Lottery. James Charles might be a makeup genius, but he’s also dabbled in video games too, and competed in Daniel ‘KEEMSTAR’ Keem’s Minecraft Monday tournament in 2019. He also started his own Twitch channel, but was forced to quit his first ever stream due to being trolled.

  • James Charles sued by former employee over “wrongful termination” and mistreatment – Dexerto

James Charles sued by former employee over “wrongful termination” and mistreatment Instagram: James CharlesJames Charles is being sued by a former employee for “wrongful termination” among several other accusations related to mistreatment and underpayment. Beauty influencer James Charles has found himself in hot water in recent weeks after he was accused several times of inappropriately texting underage fans, which even led to the demonetization of his YouTube channel and dismissal as host of YouTube’s “instant influencer.” James’ troubles do not end there, with it recently coming to light that he is being sued by his former employee Kelly Rocklein who worked as his video editor and producer and has accused him of several instances of terrible treatment. Kelly recently posted a couple of cryptic tweets which lead many to dig into what was going on. She wrote: “Watching the same people who screwed me over massively end up in deep scandals isn’t news to me, it’s karmic debt,” which many people believed to be referring to accusations recently directed towards the beauty influencer. Watching the same people who screwed me over massively end up in deep scandals isn’t news to me, it’s karmic debt. — Kelly Rocklein (@kellyrocklein) April 26, 2021 She also tweeted “Won 1, going 2 for 2 because I’m all about Law and Order.” Kelly is also a former employee of Erika Costell, social media star and ex-girlfriend of Jake Paul, and it appears that Kelly and Erika were involved in another lawsuit regarding employee mistreatment earlier this year. Won 1, going 2 for 2 because im all about law and order. — Kelly Rocklein (@kellyrocklein) April 26, 2021 Screenshots shared by various commentary channels have begun revealing the details of the lawsuit, in which “Wrongful termination” is cited as the primary case type. Evidence collected by these channels also reveals that among the issues addressed include failure to pay all wages, disability discrimination, and failure to provide reasonable accommodation. Several other elements of the case address issues regarding overtime payment and overall poor treatment of Kelly as an employee without reasonable compensation. Kelly alleged that she ended up working in two different job roles for James, which left her working 12 hours a day, almost 7 days a week, without any overtime pay and despite being promised a raise that never came to fruition. James’ former producer also claimed that she obtained a head injury, causing symptoms that she needed to go to a hospital for, meaning she was unable to work. She claimed that James told her she wasn’t dedicated enough to her job and fired her after she returned from medical leave. According to the documents online, James appears to have denied all allegations and the case is not yet settled.

  • James Charles sparks heated beef with rapper Asian Doll over makeup artist fees – Dexerto

James Charles sparks heated beef with rapper Asian Doll over makeup artist fees Instagram: @asiandabrat, @jamescharlesYouTube star and makeup mogul James Charles has started some unexpected beef with rapper Asian Doll after she made a divisive tweet over the price some makeup artists charge for their work. James Charles is known for getting into the occasional Twitter spat with high-profile celebrities; in August 2020, the YouTuber called out music artist Alicia Keys for her then-unreleased skincare line, which he mistakenly interpreted as another celebrity cash-grab in the makeup biz. (This was not the case.) Now, it seems that Charles has struck up a feud with none other than Dallas-based rapper Asian Doll — the first female rapper to be signed to Gucci Mane’s very own record label, 1017 Eskimo Records. It all started over a post Asian Doll made on January 15, where she took issue with makeup artists charging hefty fees for their services. View this post on Instagram “If you charge over $150 to do a face of makeup, you can go to hell, respectfully,” she wrote. Charles was quick to clap back: “What a stupid tweet. One foundation can cost $50, artists have to buy EVERY SHADE for their kit, & thats just the first step…Either pay an artist’s rate for their time & skill, do it yourself, OR get it done at a counter and risk looking busted.” What a stupid tweet 😐 1 foundation can cost $50, artists have to buy EVERY SHADE for their kit, & thats just the first step 🤯 Its expensive to work as a MUA. Either pay an artists rate for their time & skill, do it yourself OR get it done at a counter and risk looking busted 🤷🏻♀️ https://t.co/Qz7DK406h8 — James Charles (@jamescharles) January 15, 2021 It seems that Charles’ reply has sparked an avalanche of backlash against him from Asian Doll’s fans, with many accusing him of overstepping his bounds. Charles has apparently messed with the wrong rapper, as Asian Doll was also quick to fire shots at the beauty guru in a series of additional tweets. “What a dumb a** to be in my business replying to something that has absolutely nothing to do with you. I’m having a debate about HOOD PRICES baby, stay over there in HOLLYWOOD where they having you looking GHOST,” she wrote — most likely referring to the infamous photo of James Charles wearing foundation several shades lighter than his natural skin tone. What a dumb ass to be in my business replying to something that has absolutely nothing to do with you… im having a debate about HOOD PRICES Baby stay over there in HOLLYWOOD where they having you looking GHOST 👻 https://t.co/sXcvM637Ui — ASIAN DA BRAT (@AsianDaBrattt) January 15, 2021 “Literally stop robbing the poor,” the rapper added in a now-deleted reply. “All I’m saying is people shouldn’t have to pay over $150 for a face, DATS IT!” View this post on Instagram It seems that Asian Doll’s post has stirred up quite the debate regarding the value and pricing of makeup artists’ time and work in her comments section — but James’ involvement in the conversation has sparked another kind of dispute, altogether.

  • James Charles speaks out after Tati Westbrook exposes Shane Dawson – Dexerto

James Charles speaks out after Tati Westbrook exposes Shane Dawson James Charles, YouTube[jwplayer mgzBNoPb]Makeup mogul James Charles has finally addressed Tati Westbrook’s viral “Breaking my Silence” video, which accused YouTubers Shane Dawson and Jeffree Star of orchestrating the scandal that attempted to cancel him in 2019. James Charles made headlines in May of last year, after Westbrook published a video titled “Bye Sister,” claiming that Charles had used his fame to manipulate the sexuality of straight male fans, among other accusations. While Charles later debunked her claims in a video of his own (and subsequently gained back the hundreds of thousands of subscribers he’d lost), the drama was far from over, with Westbrook alleging she’d been “gaslit” into making her video nearly a year later. In a June 2020 upload, Tati claimed that she’d been fed rumors regarding Charles’ character, and was encouraged to make her viral exposé against her protégée to unseat him in preparation for Dawson and Star’s “Conspiracy” palette launch in the fall. Alongside accusations of potential sexual misconduct against Charles (as told by Tati in her video), fans are more anxious than ever to hear his side of the story — but they might be disappointed in what he has (or doesn’t) have to say. Paparazzi caught up with Charles two weeks after Tati’s “Breaking my silence” video released, making sure to ask the YouTuber about his stance on the topic. Unfortunately, Charles made a point of refusing to speak on the matter, declining the cameraman’s questions on two occasions. “I don’t want to talk about anything in relation to [Shane Dawson],” Charles answered. However, he did give his two cents on so-called “cancel culture” surrounding Dawson, saying: “I think it should always be looked at on a case-by-case basis, and make sure that people are changing actively. That’s kind of what I’ve always believed in.” “I don’t really want to address anything regarding the drama,” he continued. (Topic begins at 1:34) While Charles could be attempting to rise above the entire situation, he may very well be choosing to stay silent due to legal matters, with Westbrook admitting to fans that her legal team is involved in her allegations against Jeffree Star and Shane Dawson. With Charles and Westbrook both following each other back on social media, it’s safe to say that these influencers are back on good terms — but Charles’ real thoughts regarding the scandal are still up in the air.

  • James Charles sparks backlash with YouTube return after grooming accusations – Dexerto

James Charles sparks backlash with YouTube return after grooming accusations YouTube: James CharlesYouTuber and makeup artist James Charles has returned to social media after taking months away from posting amid accusations of grooming young fans — and the internet isn’t happy with his comeback. James Charles has been immersed in a swath of controversies throughout his time as a YouTube star. Following the drama with Tati Westbrook in 2019, Charles was hit with multiple accusations of inappropriately messaging underage fans in 2020. This prompted a slew of backlash against Charles, causing him to get demonetized on YouTube and even dropped by Morphe amid his response to the allegations in a now-deleted video titled ‘Holding Myself Accountable.’ Several months later, Charles returned to YouTube with another explanatory video titled ‘An Open Conversation’ on July 2, 2021, where he addressed the situation surrounding him and claimed that many of the conversations posted to social media had been completely faked. “I’m still a human being that deserves privacy and respect like everybody else,” Charles said. “It’s one thing to have a super innocent and casual conversation with somebody on Instagram DMs or a dating app, and then to scroll on your For You Page an hour later and see every single message that was sent.” Charles also stated that he was at fault for “putting myself into these types of situations,” and detailed several ways he has switched up his dating life as a result. “I’ve stopped allowing myself to be a science experiment,” he continued. “I’ve been on dates before where guys have tried to take pictures of me on the DL. It’s now gotten to a point where a lot of times if a person comes over, I’ll ask them to leave their phone at the front door.” “I recognize that these types of things can happen when you have a platform. It’s up to me to protect myself and make sure that I am not allowing myself to be so easily accessible to let those people in in the first place.” Despite Charles’ ‘Open Conversation’ with viewers, much of the internet is decidedly against his coming back at all, with plenty of commenters speaking out against him in pointed tweets. James Charles sparks controversy with Instagram post of Minecraft streamer Purpled Instagram: jamescharles/realpurpledYouTube sensation James Charles is back in hot water after posting 17 year-old Twitch streamer Purpled on his Instagram story. Viewers have been vigilant ever since James confirmed rumors that he’d been messaging minors. The star addressed the allegations in an apology video back in March 2021. He admitted he was “desperate” and promised to take more care moving forward. After returning to social media on July 2, James was met with mixed responses from viewers. Some welcomed him back with open arms, with one fan stating “I like this new James. He’s quiet and not as crazy.” Other viewers found his apology difficult to digest. A comment on his video ‘An Open Conversation’ even branded him the “male Gabbie Hanna.” On July 16, fellow YouTube star Ethan Klein slammed the beauty guru in a Tweet. • James Charles slays Kylie Jenner’s Halloween makeup with fierce look – Dexerto

James Charles slays Kylie Jenner’s Halloween makeup with fierce look YouTube: James CharlesSocial media mogul and reality tv star Kylie Jenner is known as much for her lipstick line as she is for her over-the-top Halloween costumes, and one of her 2020 looks absolutely “killed” the competition — in part due to the talents of James Charles. [jwplayer ZXB9LNVP] As soon as Halloween rolls around — even during the current health crisis — fans look toward to the crazy costumes that celebrities will pull off, which is almost always a visual treat due to their top-tier budgets and friendships with special effects artists. Kylie Jenner is one such celeb, who has turned heads across the net for her rendition of a Barbie doll and Ariel from the Little Mermaid — not to mention the time she dressed up as a woodland fairy. However, her latest costume has taken a more “wild” turn, as inspired by her brand-new Cheetah-themed makeup collection. Partnering up with YouTuber-slash-makeup artist James Charles, Kylie decided to go full-on big cat, with Charles lending his own talents to deliver some stunning special effects. Using tissue and liquid latex, James created three fake slash marks on her left cheek, as though Kylie had been scratched by the very Cheetah from her makeup collection. After applying the rest of her makeup — also using the Cheetah collection — Charles completed the look by using black and red eyeshadows, as well as fake blood, to create a surprisingly realistic facial injury. It’s clear that no cat scratch is going to get Kylie down, though, as evidenced by how amazingly fierce the entire ensemble came together, which the two showed off in a no-nonsense Instagram photo. As for Kylie’s actual Halloween costume on the official holiday, she isn’t giving out any hints, preferring to keep it a surprise on the actual day (even though James tried his best to get her to spill the beans). Considering the incredible creativity behind some of her most beloved costumes in the past, fans can safely bet that it’s probably worth the wait — especially if this one is anything to go by.

  • James Charles slams TikTok stars for homophobic content – Dexerto

James Charles slams TikTok stars for homophobic content James Charles/TikTokYouTube star and beauty guru James Charles has hit out at TikTok creators for making jokes at the expense of the LGBTQ community in their April Fool’s Day prank videos. James Charles has built a massive following of over 17 million subscribers on his beauty channel and has quickly become a role model for many in the LGBTQ community. During April Fool’s day many creators often look for new ways to surprise fans with entertaining prank videos, however, James Charles was not happy with certain TikTok stars who made jokes at the expense of the LGBTQ community. The YouTuber posted a short video revealing that he had discovered videos on his “For You” page where TikTok creators made videos pretending to come out as gay, and was not happy with what he saw. “I just looked at my For You page and apparently several straight TikTok boys thought it would be hilarious and groundbreakingly funny to make April Fool’s day prank videos coming out of the closet,” he explained, clearly disappointed with the creators. James explained that even in his own community, people still face challenges to openly admitting their sexuality and that the jokes were quite insensitive. “I’m here to tell you it’s not funny, you know why it’s not funny? Because people in my community die for coming out of the closet,” he said. “It is a very serious and hard thing that people in my community go through and it is not something to make a joke out of just so you can get likes and get on the ‘For You’ page on TikTok,” Charles added. James also explained that he was fine with people expressing themselves in other ways for April Fool’s and even applauded some of the memes made about him, however, he had seen enough of the fake “coming out” videos. “I’m even here for the James Charles memes because sometimes they are funny” he admitted, “but what I’m not here for is queerbaiting, it is ridiculous, harmful and you can get likes in other ways.” The beauty YouTuber claimed that some of the videos were “especially ridiculous” before revealing that many of the people making the prank videos had ‘slid into his DM’s’ and issued them a warning to cut it out. James Charles has previously hit out at TikTok creators for trolling him on the app when users baited him to get more views on their videos.

  • James Charles slams news outlet for using fake “ugly” photos of him – Dexerto

James Charles slams news outlet for using fake “ugly” photos of him James Charles, YouTubeYouTube star and beauty guru James Charles slammed LGBTQ+ media outlet Pink News for featuring heavily edited photos of him for a “completely false” narrative. As one of YouTube’s most popular makeup moguls, it comes as little surprise that Charles is front and center in many celebrity news circles — but the content creator is taking issue with one of these outlets in particular. LGBTQ+ centric site Pink News featured the internet star the subject of a now-deleted Snapchat story, which headlined with a garishly edited photo of Charles sporting a receding hairline, forehead wrinkles, and overly-plump lips. The disturbing picture quickly made the rounds on Twitter, with a fan tagging the YouTuber in a post that read, “Girl, what have they done to you?” The fan’s tag didn’t escape Charles’ notice, which prompted his scathing review of the site, which he slammed for using the photo as well as misleading headlines about him. “I’m so sick of this,” he wrote. “Pink News is a joke. They claim to be a LGBTQ+ news outlet, yet choose to clickbait ugly edited photos and completely false titles about me literally EVERY OTHER DAY, instead of reporting about actual things going on in our community.” I’m so sick of this. @PinkNews is a joke. They claim to be a LGBTQ+ news outlet yet choose to clickbait ugly edited photos & completely false titles about me literally EVERY OTHER DAY instead of reporting about actual things going on in our community 🥴 https://t.co/zBzqBb8fRH — James Charles (@jamescharles) January 16, 2020 Charles’ response didn’t go unacknowledged; Pink News has since replied to his comments in an open letter, where they revealed that the SnapChat story was deleted as it did not match with the site’s mission. “We made an oversight on a recent Snapchat story about you,” the outlet explained. “The story did not align with our core values and has been removed. PinkNews stands for the fundamental rights of the entire LGBT+ community and its allies. We exist to inform, inspire change and empower others to be themselves.” While the YouTuber has yet to respond to Pink News’ apology, it doesn’t look like Charles is letting any negativity bring him down, as revealed in his emotional 2019 recap video where he claimed that he has finally recovered from his viral drama with mentor Tati Westbrook. It looks like one of YouTube’s biggest stars is ready to take on the new year — no matter what shade is thrown his way.

  • James Charles slams ‘straight’ TikTok trolls baiting his DMs for views – Dexerto

James Charles slams ‘straight’ TikTok trolls baiting his DMs for views James Charles, YouTubeYouTuber and makeup mogul James Charles is hitting out at trolls who are posting their direct messages with him as a way to capitalize on past drama surrounding the social media star. In summer 2019, Charles was publicly slammed by mentor and fellow YouTuber Tati Westbrook, who claimed that the young beauty guru was using his fame as a way to manipulate the sexuality of straight men. Although he debunked Tati’s claims in a subsequent video and regained his 16 million subscribers, Charles continues to suffer from similar claims, which have now spread to popular short-form video platform TikTok. The YouTube star replied to a Tweet of a TikTok that followed the story of a self-labeled 17-year-old straight boy, who had entered Charles’ “TikTok Bachelor” contest as a “joke.” The boy went on to show that the YouTuber had messaged him as part of the contest, and that he had even played along with the “joke” — but appeared to be disgusted and confused by his advances, captioning the video, “what do I do now…” so you.. “entered” the bachelor of james as a “joke” .. and got actually upset when he sent you a cute DM? The level of stupidity here is beyond me pic.twitter.com/7vAvtfrSLs — Sebastian Williams (@sebas_williams) March 6, 2020 Needless to say, Charles wasn’t happy with the video, which he dubbed “queerbaiting and pathetic.” “This happens weekly at this point,” he wrote. “Some guy slides in my DMs or matches with me claiming they’re interested, we talk for a few days, and once they have enough recorded content for a TikTok or a Tweet, they post it and claim they’re straight. It’s queerbaiting and it’s pathetic.” This happens weekly at this point. Some guy slides in my DMs or matches with me claiming they’re interested, we talk for a few days, & once they have enough recorded content for a tik tok or tweet, they post it & claim they’re straight. It’s queerbaiting and it’s pathetic. 🤡 https://t.co/6vknQsSJjO — James Charles (@jamescharles) March 6, 2020 That’s not all: the YouTuber went on to claim that this issue has been happening since before his drama with Westbrook last year, and makes his dating life incredibly “difficult and confusing.” Not to bring up old tea, but this shows that this stuff is VERY REAL. It was happening before my scandal and continues to happen even MORE now. Many boys are closeted, curious or clout hungry and will do anything for attention. It makes dating extremely difficult and confusing. — James Charles (@jamescharles) March 6, 2020 This certainly isn’t the first time Charles has addressed such drama, as the star came forward in December 2019 after users on Tinder faked screenshots of his purported direct messages with men on the platform. While dating can be difficult for any celebrity, considering their fame, Charles continues to battle this unique struggle in wake of the fallout from a scandal he has put far behind him.

  • James Charles slams critics after Sisters hoodie found in thrift store – Dexerto

James Charles slams critics after Sisters hoodie found in thrift store YouTube star and makeup mogul James Charles is hitting back at criticism after fans discovered one of his exclusive “Sisters” hoodies in a thrift store. Known far and wide for his popular “Sisters” slogan, Charles boasts a slew of merchandise touting the phrase, which also appears on one of the hoodies available in his online store. A TikTok surfaced on Twitter on December 31, which showed a fan who had discovered the hoodie in a Goodwill store — meaning that its previous owner had either donated or sold the clothing to the chain in hopes of rehoming it. However, its pricepoint had been significantly reduced, with Goodwill valuing the hoodie at $6.99 (a far cry from its original $45.00 price tag). The TikTok likewise featured audio that used the word “ghetto” — something that Charles took issue with in his response to the video, where he decried critics for making fun of thrift stores and thrift shopping in comparison to buying designer outerwear. people have been tagging me in this as if I’m supposed to be offended? 🤨 I already made my money so jokes on you, but more importantly why are you dragging goodwill? maybe it didn’t fit, or they just weren’t a fan anymore?? hopefully someone finds it and gets a great deal! ☺️ https://t.co/4wnxR7wk9c — James Charles (@jamescharles) December 31, 2019 “People have been tagging me in this as if I’m supposed to be offended?” he wrote. “I already made my money so jokes on you, but more importantly, why are you dragging Goodwill? • James Charles slams Instagram for “trash” new update – Dexerto

James Charles slams Instagram for “trash” new update Instagram: James CharlesPopular YouTuber and beauty guru James Charles has called out Instagram after they released an update where the location of certain features seems to prioritize “making money, and only making money.” The new era of entertainment culture has brought with it some significant drawbacks. When ordinary people become colossal celebrities overnight through apps such as TikTok or Instagram, their career is often at the mercy of the platform itself. Audience engagement frequently suffers as a result of abrupt changes to the app’s algorithm, and Instagram has been openly criticized in the past for it. In 2016 the company switched up their reverse chronological feed for an algorithm that supposedly aimed to prioritize the content the user would be most interested in, but the update was not met with open arms. James Charles is one such creator who found his fame via YouTube, but boasts an impressive Instagram follower account of over 23 million people, regularly sharing new makeup looks or collabs with his many fans. James Charles responds to new Instagram update However, James was thoroughly unimpressed after Instagram rolled out their new update this November, and called out the company via his Instagram story. “As usual it is absolute trash, and proves once again, as usual, that Instagram does not give a flying f**k about creators, or literally anybody who uses this app,” he began. “They moved literally everything around and it makes it very very clear where their priorities lie and that is making money, and only making money.” https://twitter.com/defnoodles/status/1327061129995067392 James describes that in the new update, the icons for adding new posts and viewing notifications have been moved out of reach to the top of the screen, replaced with Instagram’s TikTok clone ‘Reels’ and a shopping button. “Nobody f***ing asked for Reels, we have TikTok for a reason. At least they have a good algorithm that actually works, why can’t they just let TikTok be TikTok?” he vented. the new instagram update, as usual, is trash and proves, once again, that all they care about is making money 😐 — James Charles (@jamescharles) November 13, 2020 The star echoed frustrations from the community that the update did not fix known issues like broken explore pages, low engagement, and being unable to see posts from friends and family despite following them. Instagram needs to take our advice and stop making unnecessary shitty ass updates, thanks❤️just fix the algorithm so everybody can grow… — Sahlt (@AlyciaTyre) November 13, 2020 What is this new update Instagram is trying to force on us? Where do you see your notifications? — Mummy C-Dollar (@ess_ther) November 13, 2020 James sympathized with the reality of the business side of the operation but stressed the need for a balance. “Do you know how easy it would be to just make a few changes to the algorithm here and there to at least make everybody kind of happy, but still add these features to make more money on the back end?” Whether the outpouring of criticism from influencers and regular users alike will have an effect on future updates remain to be seen, but it seems as though some members of the community are losing their trust in Instagram.

  • James Charles slams Cameo for email “profiting” from Coronavirus – Dexerto

James Charles slams Cameo for email “profiting” from Coronavirus James Charles, YouTubeYouTube star and makeup mogul James Charles has hit out at celebrity shoutout service Cameo, who purportedly sent him an email that he claims is trying to “profit” from hysteria surrounding the Novel Coronavirus. Cameo is a relatively new service taking over the online space, allowing fans to pay celebrities in exchange for a custom shout-out from their favorite stars. Advertising such celebs as actress Debra Messing, the NBA’s Aaron Gordon, and even YouTubers like Chris Turner, it seems that Cameo boasts a large arsenal of huge names — but they aren’t enlisting the services of one social media influencer, in particular. In a Tweet on March 14, Charles shared an alleged email from the celebrity service, who urged the star to sign up on their site as a means to take advantage of the current social isolation due to the Coronavirus pandemic. “I don’t know if your events have been affected by the pandemic, but we’ve seen a growing number of talent joining Cameo to stay connected with fans from the safety of their homes, while also having an additional revenue stream as things get postponed,” the purported email reads. Charles wasted no time calling out the platform, claiming that the company is trying to take advantage of a serious situation and even calling the message “pathetic.” “I interact with my fans for free every day because it’s my job and I love them!” he wrote. “Your website that charges for this is pathetic, and so is your email pitch to profit off of a deadly virus!” That’s not all: Charles followed up his now-deleted post with another Tweet, where he admitted that he originally wanted to avoid offending other personalities who use the service, but was sent “over the edge” by the company’s divisive email. The whole website concept is disgusting and I’ve avoided discussing it because I don’t want to shade any of the influencers that do choose to use it but this email sent me over the edge — James Charles (@jamescharles) March 14, 2020 While he isn’t alone in his thinking, his post has incited a slew of conversation regarding the ethics of stars charging for a shoutout from fans — especially during a time of mass panic as the Coronavirus continues to develop, prompting social isolation, travel bans, and shortages of basic items like hand sanitizer and toilet paper.

  • James Charles slams Charli D’Amelio’s haters in TikTok rant – Dexerto

James Charles slams Charli D’Amelio’s haters in TikTok rant TikTok: James Charles/ Instagram: Charli D’AmelioBeauty influencer James Charles has slammed Charli D’Amelio’s haters in an impassioned TikTok rant, explaining why he relates to Charli’s situation on a personal level. This week Charli D’Amelio suffered a mass unfollowing after comments about her follower count that many are calling “ungrateful.” At the time of writing, she has lost 900,000 followers since Wednesday, November 18. The 16-year-old is already miles ahead of other TikTok accounts, having surpassed Loren Gray in March to become the app’s most popular creator. In the space of a year, she has become a global social media star, securing brand deals and collaborations with some huge celebrities. While on the precipice of hitting 100 million followers, in a video with her family and James Charles, she expressed that she was hoping to hit that milestone within a year of hitting one million and that she felt she needed more time. The subsequent backlash was massive, prompting a wave of unfollows that took her further and further away from the record number. On November 19 she broke down crying during an Instagram Live, a result of the “bullying” she had received. While certain influencers have helped drive the witchhunt, James Charles, who was involved in the initial video, has made his feelings about the situation known on TikTok, taking aim at the other creators who have driven the hate. In his TikTok, he explained that he became friends with D’Amelios because he felt as though he related to Charli’s rapid rise to fame: “I don’t need Charli and Charli does not need me. I became friends with the D’Amelio family as a whole very early on because this was all very very new to them. I wanted to be a friend and a mentor anyway that I possibly could and Charli and I, despite not being the same age, had one thing in common, which is coming to the spotlight at a very very young age.” Addressing the more infamous haters directly, he added, “You are in no position to be talking about me and my career so I highly recommend that you stop starting fights with people that are half your age, pack it up, and work on holding yourself and your best friends around you because they think you are the problem.” He also made comments on Twitter, comparing the situation to his own setbacks in 2019 during ‘Dramageddon’ when Tati Westbrook’s accusations sent his follower count falling by the millions, saying that the situation “does not sit right with him.” this charli situation is NOT sitting right with me… 100M followers in one year & y’all expect her to know how to be a perfect role model? death threats because she’s a picky eater & made a joke about a milestone? 30+ year olds dragging someone half their age? feels familiar 😐 — James Charles (@jamescharles) November 19, 2020 “100M followers in one year & y’all expect her to know how to be a perfect role model?” he asked. “Death threats because she’s a picky eater & made a joke about a milestone? 30+-year-olds dragging someone half their age? Feels familiar.” After her live stream, Charli has made no further comments as her follower count declines, but creators continue to be at each other’s throats over the debacle.

  • James Charles shows off $10,000 custom Balenciaga sneakers and bags – Dexerto

James Charles shows off $10,000 custom Balenciaga sneakers and bags Twitter: jamescharlesJames Charles has received several pairs of custom Balenciaga sneakers and bags worth $10,000 and has shown them off in a new video. The world of YouTube and major online personalities has collided with that of big, high-end fashion brands, and you’ll often see these people donning outfits worth tens of thousands of dollars. In a new video by artist ZHC, he gifts Charles $10,000 worth of Balenciaga items including multiple bags and pairs of sneakers, all with custom one-of-a-kind designs that are exclusive to the fashion and make-up guru himself. The sneakers include a Balenciaga Triple S, which ZHC has painted a rainbow dragon and flames along the sides of, as well as three pairs of the Balenciaga Speed (or “sock”) sneaker. One has green ‘scrunchie’ toy designs along the side, another pair he calls the “donut drips” because of the donut-icing styling along the edges, and another that has a unique floral-inspired theme. Finally, he works on three different custom bags: a backpack, a handbag and a fanny pack, that all featured similar space-themed designs with quirky colors and shapes throughout the ensure there was no way anyone would be able to miss Charles with his high-end gear. While on their way to visit the star, ZHC and his crew found time to work on a custom pair of Balenciaga sliders with “trippy” flames painted on them, as well as a wallet that follows the same space theme as the other bags being gifted. Charles looks in absolute awe throughout, trying on every piece and visibly overwhelmed by the incredible gifts and work he’s being given, and saying that the Triple S design is officially his favorite. Finally, James opens the backpack which he is “literally obsessed with” and clearly can’t believe his luck, saying that he’ll “use it every day.” Given the amount of time, effort and money that would have gone into making these designs and gifting them to Charles, it’s fortunate he responded the way he did. Finally, they worked on custom iPhone 11s to give away to their fans – which would definitely make you feel better about not receiving a unique $10,000 Balenciaga haul.

James Charles shuts down cosmetic surgery rumors after procedure joke James Charles, YouTubeYouTube star and makeup mogul James Charles has addressed rumors of receiving cosmetic surgery, after joking about getting a “a**-reduction” procedure before his actual medical appointment on May 27. Charles is known for cutting it up on social media, having poked fun at himself for his Coachella outfits, makeup looks and more — but this time, one of his jokes may have been a little too convincing. The YouTuber revealed in a Tweet on May 27 that he was going in for one of two surgeries, leaving fans confused and curious as to the procedure, since he didn’t exactly elaborate on the subject. However, he did have fun mocking the rampant speculation in his replies, joking that he was going under the knife for a cosmetic procedure related to his derriere. “By the way, my surgery is an a** reduction ‘cause it’s too fat,” he joked. btw my surgery is an ass reduction cause it’s too fat 💔😢 — James Charles (@jamescharles) May 27, 2020 While many fans found the Tweet humorous, it seems that some truly believed his meme, with the beauty star returning to Twitter the very next day to clear the air regarding rumors of his new toosh. “It has come to my attention that people actually believed that my surgery yesterday was an a** reduction,” he Tweeted. “Baby… I would never get rid of this thicker than a snicker juicy caboose!” it has come to my attention that people actually believed that my surgery yesterday was an ass reduction…. baby… i would never get rid of this thicker than a snicker juicy caboose — James Charles (@jamescharles) May 28, 2020 Although he’s kept the details of his surgeries under wraps, the YouTuber has hinted that he needs to get his tonsils removed, as told in a Tweet on May 14 after seeing his doctor for a supposed ear infection. I went to the doctor today to get my ear looked at since it’s been plugged for a week now… he had me open my mouth to look at my sinuses and the first thing he said was “holy shit why do you still have your tonsils? they’re huge” 🙃 tonsillectomy here we come — James Charles (@jamescharles) May 14, 2020 This wouldn’t be the first time fans have suspected the star of undergoing dramatic surgeries, either, with Charles addressing claims of having received gender reassignment surgery in a video in February. (Topic begins at 12:26) The social media star has likewise thoroughly clarified that he is not transgender in the past, and identifies as male, debunking speculation by popular internet memes — and while he has yet to spill the beans regarding his latest procedures, fans are sending their love and support regardless.

  • James Charles ruins his “bald” prank with accidental Instagram selfie – Dexerto

James Charles ruins his “bald” prank with accidental Instagram selfie James CharlesInfluencer James Charles turned out to be his own worst enemy when he tried – and failed – at pulling off a recent prank on Instagram. Charles is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars on the internet today, and he’s no stranger to pulling a fast one on his followers, but one of his most recent attempts definitely didn’t go according to plan. On February 16, the star posted a pic of himself doing his regular James Charles thing, but completely and utterly bald-headed — it would have been one of the biggest surprises of the year, had he not shown his hand too soon. View this post on Instagram For a couple of days at least, for all we knew, James had actually gone and cut all of his hair off, and was now walking around filming videos and making content completely bald. But a couple of days after posting the prank photo, Charles unwittingly uploaded a photo of himself sitting on a ski lift to his Instagram story, with his well-known hair poking out between his hat and goggles, instantly ruining the ongoing joke. According to Charles, the posting schedule for his videos has been thrown out of whack, and he didn’t even realize what he’d done until he reached the bottom of the mountain (presumably). “I posted a selfie on my story earlier today, and looking back at it, I realize I showed my full head of hair. I’m not bald anymore surprise!” Charles said in another video also his story just after posting the picture. “I completely ruined my own prank, like, I exposed myself, of course. This is so stupid, I am so mad, I thought my hat was down and you couldn’t see it, but alas, I have a full head of hair.” James also added that the video that was supposed to go along with this bald prank was supposed to come out today, but his video editors weren’t able to meet the deadline due to ongoing winter weather in Texas. Instead, the video of Charles going bald for a day will come out on Friday, February 19 – and even though the illusion has been shattered and the prank ruined, he’s promised us it and people’s reactions to him completely hairless will still definitely be worth watching.

  • James Charles shocked by post from Jason Derulo’s hacked Twitter account – Dexerto

James Charles shocked by post from Jason Derulo’s hacked Twitter account Instagram: Jason Derulo, James Charles / TwitterYouTube star and beauty guru James Charles was left speechless after hackers, who had taken over singer-songwriter Jason Derulo’s Twitter account, called him out in an unexpected and hateful tweet. On January 12, one of the biggest stars using Twitter was hacked in yet another apparent conquest from the masterminds behind 2019’s mass celebrity hacking on the platform. Jason Derulo, famed American singer-songwriter and dancer, was compromised by the group, who have infamously dubbed themselves the “Chuckling Squad.” The squad published a slew of offensive tweets from Derulo’s account — but one of the most shocking posts called out makeup mogul James Charles, whose own account was also compromised in 2019. View this post on Instagram The post in question was incredibly offensive and called Charles a slur, although, thankfully, the tweet has since been taken down. Understandably, Charles appeared to be at a loss for words over the post, simply quote-retweeting it with the caption: “Omg.” We’re right there with you, James — and while it’s clear the tweet didn’t come from Derulo himself, it must have been jarring to see such profanity from his account. Charles wasn’t the only celeb the Chuckling Squad took aim at while piloting Derulo’s profile; they also insulted popular rapper Megan Thee Stallion and posted a slew of other offensive messages for around an hour before being kicked out of the account. However, the squad made sure to link the cyber attack back to themselves, writing in a post from Derulo’s account: “All celebs that were hacked were chuckling squad, labelled or not, it was us. No one else can do it, just how we smoked Addison Rae, Dixie, anyone you can think off [sic] our victims.” Rae’s social media accounts were targeted in August of last year, as well as those of her mother. According to the Chuckling Squad’s latest messages, it seems that no one is out of their reach — and while we can give some pretty good guesses, there’s no telling who they’ll target next. While unrelated to the Chuckling Squad, the site-wide bitcoin scam from 2020 (which similarly targeted a slew of high-profile users) was traced back to a 21-year old English hacker and three other young people, who had reportedly convinced Twitter employees to give out their administrative accreditations. While it’s unlikely this group is behind the latest attacks, the Chuckling Squad — worryingly — lives on.

  • James Charles reveals his new Bachelor show on TikTok to find a boyfriend – Dexerto

James Charles reveals his new Bachelor show on TikTok to find a boyfriend Popular content creator and beauty guru James Charles has surprised fans after announcing he would be hosting his own TikTok version of The Bachelor. James Charles had an incredible year in 2019, as the YouTuber continued to gain new fans, despite the controversial feud between him and Tati Westbrook, even causing a traffic gridlock in Birmingham during one of his meet and greets. The beauty star has even more planned for 2020, announcing that he would be kicking the year off hosting a TikTok version of the popular reality TV show, The Bachelor. Although he admitted he was hesitant to post the video to TikTok, Charles explained that he didn’t feel like there was much to lose, “I feel like this can’t hurt and I don’t think it will turn into a scandal.” The popular content creator then explained that many of the TikToks were made by couples, “I made one major observation after downloading TikTok and that is that this app is pretty much a dating app, let’s be real.” “Everyone on here is either in a very cute relationship or is painfully single,” he expressed reluctantly, “Unfortunately for me, I fall into that second group of people, surprise, surprise!” The YouTube star revealed he wanted to change that going forward and came up with a new idea for his followers to take part in, “In 2020 I’m trying to change that and put myself out there a little more and I want to get wifed up so I want to play TikTok Bachelor.” Similarly to the popular reality show, Charles then started to describe himself and his hobbies before making a call for those interested to get involved and introduce themselves by commenting or to use TikTok’s Duet feature in response. Despite his confident approach to the TikTok Bachelor announcement, at the end of the recording, he could not help but laugh at the whole idea of it, saying “oh my god what have I done.” Even though asking the general public to get involved in such things as this can usually result in being trolled and other risks, Charles otherwise seemed to be quite optimistic about his unusual selection process for a new boyfriend.

James Charles reveals what he really wanted to say in response to Tati Westbrook drama James Charles, GlamLifeGuru – YouTubeMakeup mogul James Charles made international headlines in early May, after fellow YouTuber Tati Westbrook “exposed” him for allegedly using his fame to manipulate men’s sexualities – and while he has since bounced back from the scandal, the drama still follows him to this day. Charles spoke out on the incident during a joint video with YouTuber Joey Graceffa on September 8, where admitted that he’d wanted to discuss suicide and depression in his response to the issue. However, the beauty guru refrained from doing so, explaining that he wanted to avoid appearing to ask for sympathy in light of Tati’s serious allegations by speaking on the toll that the widespread hate was taking on his own mental health. 600https://www.instagram.com/p/BzwTrEfpJ2C/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link“So many kids feel suicidal and deal with depression and feel anxiety,” Charles said of the issue. “And that’s something I wanted to talk about so badly, but I knew when I addressed everything and started to get back… I had to just say the facts… because if I brought any of that up, it would make it look like I was wanting sympathy.” (Timestamp: 18:30 for mobile viewers) The drama between Westbrook and Charles set YouTube’s beauty community on fire, with Charles losing millions of subscribers due to the debacle – an issue that even YouTube king Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg commented on, doubting that he would ever be able to “come back” from the scandal. Despite names like Jeffree Star labeling Charles a “danger to society,” the YouTuber has managed to regain his 16 million subscribers in wake of the blowup, after releasing his video response to Tati’s claims that debunked nearly all of her allegations. Since then, Charles has reclaim his status as one of YouTube’s most popular beauty gurus – but he knows the dangers of social media stardom firsthand, likewise commenting on the “bandwagon hate” that permeates online communities. James Charles reveals first DM Dream sent him before he was famous Instagram: dreamwastaken / jamescharlesYouTubers James Charles and Dream have revealed the first messages they sent each other on Discord back when Dream only had 200,000 subscribers, with fans loving the sweet message. The past year has seen different parts of the internet combine in unexpected ways with new stars rising to fame insanely fast, and new communities forming. Dream is one such YouTuber who has experienced a huge surge in popularity over the last year in particular, with his range of Minecraft content and participation in the wildly popular Dream SMP earning him over 19 million subscribers. In a new video, James asked some of his new gaming creator friends to help pick a makeup look for him, and it was down to Dream to pick the setting spray to seal the finished look in place. As James was screen-recording their Discord call, the pair quickly realized that they could see the first messages that Dream sent to the YouTuber via the platform, from August 2019. “I have no idea if you’re playing in Minecraft Monday anymore or if I’ll be playing next week, but I’d absolutely love to team with you if you are and you need a teammate haha,” the message read. “I doubt you know who I am, but my Minecraft name is ‘Dream.’ You miss all the shots you don’t take.” Topic starts at 20:05 After James read the message out loud, Dream said: “do you know how many subs I had back then? He looks to be fast catching up with James who currently has over 25 million subscribers. Dream’s message illuminates just how insane his growth on YouTube has been, and James is clearly proud to see how far his friend has come.

  • James Charles reveals he received death threats over JoJo Siwa collab – Dexerto

James Charles reveals he received death threats over JoJo Siwa collab YouTube: James CharlesStan Twitter was in uproar after James Charles hyped up his next YouTube collaboration with an unnamed celebrity that turned out to be former Dance Moms cast member Jojo Siwa, and has revealed he has even received death threats as a result of the Twitter storm. In recent years, beauty guru James Charles’ booming career has allowed him to collaborate with some significant celebrities including Kesha, Iggy Azalea, and even Kylie Jenner. So when he started to hype up his next collab, calling it “his favorite interview and transformation EVER,” fans began to speculate over who the next A-lister could possibly be, many hoping for it to be singer Ariana Grande. Instead, James had collaborated with former Dance Moms cast member-now YouTuber JoJo Siwa, known for her iconic big bows and bright fashion sense that has gotten her plenty of hate both online and offline. Stan Twitter, as it’s known, was immediately furious, and James was forced to address the amount of criticism the collab had already received. I liked a few tweets from fans saying they wanted me to collab with their favs because I also would love to collab with their favs 🙃 if I DID collab with their favs, today would’ve been full of “”stay away from her”” tweets anyway 🥺 leave me alone — James Charles (@jamescharles) August 21, 2020 “I said today’s collab was with someone I waited two years to work with & I was so excited for, and now I’m getting death threats because stan twitter assumed it would be their fav and it wasn’t,” he said in a tweet on August 21. He implores fans to be “patient” in waiting for a collab with their favorite celeb. In a separate tweet, he told people to “leave me alone” and explained that he liked tweets about other celebrities because he was also hopeful about working with them, not as a confirmation that he already had. you also said it was a CELEBRITY. do you need me to pull up reciepts? jojo isn’t a celeb — sister andrew (@speakingfactskk) August 21, 2020 things you did wrong said the person you were collabing with was a “celebrity” said this collab was “break the internet” worthy said you waited 2 years implying this is an a-list celeb liked tweets about ariana collab we have a reason to be dissapointed — zach (@arianaspick) August 21, 2020 This did little to calm frustrated stans, one saying “you also said it was a CELEBRITY. Do you need me to pull up receipts? JoJo isn’t a celeb,” another fan even giving James a list of things he did wrong including the fact that he “said you waited 2 years implying this is an A-list celebrity.” Despite the backlash, the view count on the makeover with entertainer and business mogul JoJo Siwa is over 6 million, and at the time of writing is trending at number one on YouTube.

  • James Charles reveals effect cancel culture had on him during Tati beef – Dexerto

James Charles reveals effect cancel culture had on him during Tati beef In a revealing interview conducted in November 2019, YouTuber James Charles has opened up about being labeled a “predator” amid his drama with fellow YouTuber Tati Westbrook. Drama between the two make-up and beauty YouTubers started to unfurl in April 2019, when Charles made an Instagram story promoting a rival product to Tati’s supplement brand. Tati expressed her disappointment and hurt, forcing Charles to write out an explanation and apology shortly after. Then it escalated, and in May 2019 Tati Westbrook released a 40-minute video – now private on Tati’s channel – explaining the entire ordeal and then accusing Charles of coercing straight men into doing sexual acts with him. Naturally, this led to a lot of speculation on the internet and accusations being made of Charles, being labeled a “predator” by his detractors – and how he’s opened up about it. In an interview with Paper Magazine, Charles said: “The reality is that the ‘hook-up’ that was being discussed was completely consensual. It was with a boy who told me that he was bisexual and later on told the world he was bisexual. Therefore there’s nothing wrong with that.” Speaking on cancel culture and the hate he faced following the drama, he said: “There’s no other word to describe it other than just toxic. It’s so toxic. It’s behavior that should not be tolerated. And it’s so easy to forget that when you’re tweeting these people, there’s a real person behind the other screen that’s looking at that. … It could truly push someone over the edge.” What is most concerning is Charles saying how this could “truly push someone over the edge.” Though it’s not quite clear what exactly he meant by this, he later said that he was “so grateful to be surrounded by close friends and family that were checking on me all day long, every single day, in the middle of the night, every 10 minutes to make sure I didn’t do something that I could never take back.” The implications of the effect the hate, drama and cancel culture had on James are concerning, and everyone involved is lucky he never did something he “could never take back.” It appears that, despite the immediate aftermath of the issues between James Charles and Tati Westbrook, Charles is starting to return to a better place but admits that he still doesn’t feel “back to normal.” Speaking of the future, Charles says he wants to move into bigger productions and explore singing and tour opportunities, believing his fans will follow him regardless of what he does next.

  • James Charles responds to Tati YouTube drama as he loses over 1 million subs – Dexerto

James Charles responds to Tati YouTube drama as he loses over 1 million subs YouTube/James CharlesPopular fashion and beauty YouTuber James Charles has responded to the beef with former friend Tati Westbrook, which caused his channel to lose over 1,000,000 subscribers in only 24 hours. The drama between James Charles and Tati Westbrook had been brewing for a few days after Charles promoted a rival vitamin brand to Westbrook’s on his Instagram story. While James apologized for the interaction, Tati effectively called time on their three-year-long friendship with one upload – “Bye Sister.” The 40-minute long video, which immediately went viral, saw Westbrook take her former friend to task – using the time to document everything that had taken place between and to explain why she didn’t want to be associated with him anymore. It also sparked the record-breaking loss of subscribers from Charles’ channel. 600Charles responded to the video with an upload of his own – “tati” – where he, again, apologized to Tati for what had happened and addressed some of the issues that had led to the drama. “To Tati and James Westbrook, I’m sorry for everything that is going on and everything I’ve put you through over the past few weeks,” said the fashion and beauty YouTuber. James also apologized to anyone who looks up to him as a “role model” because he has “disappointed” someone he views as a role model of his own – Tati. How many subs has James Charles lost? In the days prior to the video, Charles had lost a few thousand subscribers here and there, but nothing like the numbers lost following Tati’s upload. Since the “Bye Sister” upload, Charles’ subscriber number has dwindled from over 16.5 million to below 15.6 million – as of the time of writing. That shocking loss has almost doubled the projection made by YouTube stats tracking website SocialBlade, which believed Charles’ channel was on pace to lose 500,000 subs by May 11. However, that number was shattered on May 10 alone, with the beauty channel losing 538,883 subscribers before the day was out. Yet, it’s also possible that the channel loses even more subscribers on May 11 than it did on May 10. At the time of writing, 352,226 subscribers have departed the channel since the start of May 11. Will James Charles get his subscribers back? It remains to be seen if Charles’ channel will continuing hemorrhaging subscribers, or if the bleeding will stop at any point in the near future. For now, though, the record-breaking number – which isn’t really a record you want to hold as an active channel on YouTube – will only continue to grow as fans depart from the channel in their droves.

  • James Charles responds to “frustrating” Tinder allegations – Dexerto

James Charles responds to “frustrating” Tinder allegations Makeup mogul James Charles made headlines in May after mentor Tati Westbrook accused him of using his fame to manipulate straight men – and it doesn’t look like these accusations are dying down. While Charles made the comeback of a lifetime after exposing Tati’s “Lies” in a forty-minute long video. the speculation surrounding her allegations continues to follow the beauty guru into the winter months. In early December, critics accused the YouTuber of identifying as “female” on dating apps to lure in straight men – an allegation that has been noted across the net by Distractify. https://twitter.com/ExclusiveTalker/status/1194355519185735680?s=20 In fact, a fellow YouTuber by the name of “Dustin Dailey” appeared to reference the matter in a series of Tweets on December 4, where he aired his grievances concerning matching up with possible partners on Tinder. “If you identify as a gay man, do not set your Tinder settings to female for straight men to find you,” he wrote, repeating the line. “That’s all.” if you identify as a gay man do not set your tinder settings to female for straight men to find you if you identify as a gay man do not set your tinder settings to female for straight men to find you that’s all — Dustin Dailey (@ThreeDailey) December 4, 2019 While Dailey made no mention of Charles in his post, his comments seemed to put the beauty star on edge, who popped off in a long string of Tweets concerning the past controversy surrounding his fame and love life. “I’m so sick of people talking about this,” he wrote. “My identity on dating apps was listed as ‘androgynous’ – someone who expresses themselves in both feminine & masculine ways. NOT a female to ‘trick’ anyone.” 3. Having simple conversations with people that swipe right on you on dating apps is NOT predatory. 4. As a gay man, you know that “curious” men use feminine gays as an outlet to experiment. I stopped allowing myself to take part, but let’s not pretend like it doesn’t happen.— James Charles (@jamescharles) December 5, 2019 Charles went on to clarify that he has never attempted to “bait” straight men using dating apps, and even deleted such applications from his phone after receiving “harassment” from critics hoping to “make a spectacle” out of him in wake of Tati’s accusations. However, when a fan brought up the fact that Dailey did not mention him in his post, Charles was quick with a comeback, arguing that “I have a right to stand up for myself when I’m being labeled as a predator.” No Maggie, it’s been 7 months and people clearly have NOT let it go so I have a right to stand up for myself when I’m being labeled as a predator — James Charles (@jamescharles) December 5, 2019 Considering the mass backlash he received after Tati’s video went viral, it isn’t completely unsurprising that Charles is defensive about what could be attacks on his character – but Dailey posted a video clarifying that his Tweet was not in reference to the young star’s past drama, whatsoever. i didn’t tag james as i made a general statement. i did use a gif of james when referring to tinder but that’s it. i do not hate the guy and i did not link the article until after the fact because i thought he was implying i started this up again. regardless, let’s keep it moving pic.twitter.com/p3qREAX60J — Dustin Dailey (@ThreeDailey) December 5, 2019 Although he may have recovered from his beef with Tati, it seems that her accusations are continuing to follow the star, with no thanks to social media.

  • James Charles responds to outrage over ‘World War 3’ tweet – Dexerto

James Charles responds to outrage over ‘World War 3’ tweet James Charles, popular American YouTuber and beauty artist, has responded to fan outrage following a ‘World War 3’ tweet he posted on January 3. January 3 saw Twitter hit with a tidal wave of ‘World War 3’ tweets, as social media users around the world quipped about the possibility of a third global conflict. The viral trend followed the death of Qasem Soleimani, an Iranian military general who was killed in Iraq by a US air-strike. Many Twitter users marked the increase in Washington-Tehran tensions with expectedly dark humor, joking about the upcoming third world war and the ways in which they would avoid conscription. One of the many Twitter users to participate in the viral trend, James Charles shared a tweet on January 3, captioned: “Me when the government comes knocking on my door for the draft”. Attached were a number of photos of Charles dressed in women’s clothing, and wearing wigs. Despite the viral trend, many interpreted Charles’ tweet to be referencing the transgender military ban implemented by President Trump earlier in 2019. However, the American YouTuber quickly replied to clear up any accusations of transphobia. “Just to clarify,” Charles said. “This tweet has nothing to do with the trans military ban, which I obviously do not support.” just to clarify, this tweet has nothing to do with the trans military ban, which I obviously do not support. it’s a lighthearted joke regarding the fact that I had to register for the draft when I turned 18, just like every other boy, & i don’t wanna fight in a war. that’s all — James Charles (@jamescharles) January 4, 2020 He went on to explain that his tweet was nothing more than a “light-hearted joke,” referring to the fact that young men would be the most likely to be conscripted in a potential conflict. “It’s a light-hearted joke regarding the fact that I had to register for the draft when I turned 18,” he said. “Just like every other boy, and I don’t want to fight in a war. That’s all.” Social media had a mixed response to the tweet. Some users argued Charles’ tweet was harmless and simply fit with the trend of joking about the possibility of a third world war. Others, however, argued it was careless and could potentially offend some transgender individuals. Charles has made clear he did not mean to offend anyone and was merely trying to hop on the viral joke.

  • James Charles reacts to Google searches about his “death” – Dexerto

James Charles reacts to Google searches about his “death” Makeup mogul James Charles is one of YouTube’s most subscribed beauty gurus, who skyrocketed to fame after his spat with mentor Tati Westbrook in May — but some of the net’s most popular searches about him have nothing to do with that feud. Instead, some of Google’s most searched terms on the YouTube star ask about his “death” — a humorous (if concerning) trend, considering that he is very much alive and well. Taking inspiration from Wired’s notable “celebrities react to the web’s most searched questions” videos, Charles responded to some of Google’s most popular search queries about him, and was shocked to find that many of them asked if he had died. At first, the YouTuber was down to joke about the search, finding the humor in such an odd question. “That’s dark,” James laughed. “On the inside, yes. On the outside, however, I am still here.” That wasn’t the last time he encountered the term, however, later peeling off one label to reveal a question that read, “Was James Charles shot?” “Oh my god,” he said, obviously shocked. “Uh, no, I was not, and I hope not. That is concerning that that is a search. Let’s move on to the next one.” In fact, he encountered the question a third time, after unveiling another term that read, “Did James Charles die?” “Oh my god, no!” he said, exasperated. “Once again, I did not die, and I hate that people are Googling this!” While there’s no telling why James’ “death” is such a popular search term, both he and his career are anything but, with the beauty guru skyrocketing back to fame following his drama with Tati Westbrook in May. After losing hundreds of thousands of subscribers in wake of their feud, Charles managed to regain his 15 million subs, now sitting at over 16.4 million subscribers as of December 20. Even ranking as the third most Googled celebrity in 2019, it looks like James Charles is here to stay — even if many of his searches involve questions like, “Why is James Charles so popular?”

  • James Charles reacts to YouTube accidentally deleting his channel – Dexerto

James Charles reacts to YouTube accidentally deleting his channel James Charles is one of YouTube’s top beauty gurus, boasting over 16 million subscribers and a makeup product empire – but his video-making days were suddenly cut short on November 5 in a confusing accident. While James Charles’ YouTube channel has seen its ups and downs in recent months (paging Tati Westbrook), it was deleted altogether in the middle of the day on November 5. Fans flipped out across the net, sharing screenshots of an error message that read, “This video is no longer available because the YouTube account associated with this video has been terminated.” @jamescharles please explain what happened to your channel!! pic.twitter.com/PtqaGPFGR2 — toulousegrande (@godistoulouse_) November 5, 2019 YALL! (@rossthomaskane) November 5, 2019 He wasn’t the only YouTuber affected by the deletion, either: members of FaZe Clan also saw their channels suspended for seemingly no reason, with names like FaZe Rug and FaZe Kay posting their concerns to social media. “What the hell?” Rug Tweeted. “My YouTube channel got terminated. WTF.” “MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL GOT DELETED,” FaZe Kay exclaimed in all caps. However, Charles had a humorously measured response to the drama in comparison, using his classic catchphrase to make a good-natured joke. “My YouTube channel really said ‘bye sister,’” Charles wrote of the issue. my youtube channel really said :victory::skin-tone-3::victory::skin-tone-3: bye sister — James Charles (@jamescharles) November 5, 2019 Not all hope is lost for these YouTubers, though: according to esports analyst Rod “@Slasher” Breslau, these sudden deletions were merely a “bug” on YouTube’s end, and the site will reportedly restore the affected accounts. YouTube will be restoring all of the channels suspended including FaZe’s members and James Charles etc, just a bug on their end — Rod Breslau (@Slasher) November 5, 2019 Charles’ response to the drama follows a major drop in subscribers earlier this year, when drama with fellow YouTuber Tati Westbrook saw the internet turn on him for the worse. Losing over three million subscribers due to the debacle, it seemed like Charles’ career had taken a major hit – but the YouTube star quickly bounced back after sharing his version of events, and even managed to surpass his 16 million subscriber milestone shortly thereafter. Charles’ Twitter account was also hacked in late August, with a group of hackers threatening to leak the celeb’s nudes – but his now-infamous response to the threats (including his more recent reaction to the YouTube debacle) shows that he isn’t afraid of what life throws his way.

  • James Charles opens up about mental health in wake of 2019 Tati drama – Dexerto

James Charles opens up about mental health in wake of 2019 Tati drama YouTube star and makeup mogul James Charles uploaded a video reflecting on the events of his tumultuous 2019 — and it looks like the beauty guru has successfully put his past drama behind him. In 2019, James Charles saw both unprecedented growth (opening a Morphe store in Manchester, UK and causing a gridlock for traffic) and drama, after mentor Tati Westbrook attempted to “expose” him for allegedly manipulating the sexuality of straight men using his fame. After losing hundreds of thousands of subscribers due to her now-deleted “Bye Sister” video, Charles managed to climb back on top after releasing his own “No More Lies” statement which explained the situation in full and lead many fans to take his side in the fallout. Now, 2020 has officially arrived, ringing in both a new decade and a new period of peace for the young beauty guru, who claimed that he was able to stay afloat during some of his darkest times thanks to his new pup, Finnigan. “I tried my best to put on a smile for the camera, because I would be completely lying if I said that I was happy during that month [September], because I was not at all,” Charles tearfully admitted. “I was still really trying hard to just get everything back together, working with my mental health.” (Topic begins at 16:16 for mobile readers) However, Charles is now confident that he’s back to his old self, revealing that the holidays have been some of his happiest days since recovering from his viral feud with Tati. “The past few weeks have been some of the happiest I’ve had in so long,” Charles said, breaking into tears. “It just feels really, really, really f**king good to be able to sit on camera and say that with confidence and to not be lying and smiling just to keep the show going.” What was once a potentially career-ending debacle for the makeup sensation has now become a testament to his mental strength, with the YouTuber hoping for even greater heights as 2020 begins.

  • James Charles reacts to backlash after posting “offensive” TikTok – Dexerto

James Charles reacts to backlash after posting “offensive” TikTok YouTube: James Charles[jwplayer ksH6zuKH]YouTube star James Charles is facing backlash after taking part in a TikTok trend that many critics have found offensive and racist for seeming to making fun of Indian culture. James Charles is one of YouTube’s biggest beauty gurus, boasting over 20 million subscribers due to his insane talents with a makeup brush and his top-tier collabs with other social media stars. In spite of his popularity, Charles has been at the brunt of critics’ ire as of late, after hopping on a popular TikTok trend that uses a classical Indian song and a wavy filter. The filter kicks in as the singer’s voice trills, creating a humorous and unique effect in time with the music — but in spite of its apparent comedic intentions, many critics are taking issue with the filter’s use across TikTok, as well as Charles’ involvement with the trend. https://www.instagram.com/p/CDofmfhH8x-/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link “Disrespecting Indian classical music is never f***iing okay,” one user wrote of the scandal. “Not James Charles, Capital FM, Dua Lipa and many more are doing this TikTok s**t. The singing is impressive as hell, but I deleted the video because I obviously didn’t mean to offend.” While Charles has since deleted the TikTok in question, some critics are clearly unhappy with his response; but this isn’t the first time the makeup mogul has been dragged into drama (2019, hello?), and it seems that he’s learned how to roll with the punches.

  • James Charles & Manny MUA appear to shade Alicia Keys over makeup line – Dexerto

James Charles & Manny MUA appear to shade Alicia Keys over makeup line Instagram: James Charles / Alicia KeysBeauty influencers James Charles and Manny MUA have thrown some serious Twitter shade targeting celebs ‘who don’t wear makeup’ but launch their own beauty brands. People are convinced it was a dig at Alicia Keys, who has just launched a line with E.L.F. James Charles and Manny MUA are no strangers to social media drama. Both of them became wrapped up in Tati Westbrook’s hair gummy drama of 2019, and saw an enormous loss in subscribers as a result. Despite an apparent effort to stay out of the drama, fans were sent into a frenzy when the stars sent vague tweets complaining about ‘people who don’t wear makeup’ diving into the beauty industry. “Does anyone else get slightly irritated when celebs come out with entire makeup lines? Especially when those celebs don’t even wear makeup” Manny wrote. https://www.instagram.com/p/CDhlKDHnlvO/ James follows in a similar vein, in now-deleted tweets: “People who do not wear makeup should not be coming out with makeup brands but that’s just my opinion.” https://www.instagram.com/p/CDhncZqn2mr/ Recent years have seen many influencers and celebrities hopping into the hugely profitable beauty industry, including TikTok sibling sensations Charli and Dixie D’Amelio. Fans were quick to speculate. Many considered James and Manny’s tweets to be in direct reference to the D’Amelio’s recent collab with Morphe. James shut this down very quickly. He announced that he’d “reworded the original tweet” because “people assumed I was shading my own friends.” This seemed to be to protect his recently blossoming friendship with the sisters. How is Alicia Keys involved? Speculation then moved to singer Alicia Keys, who has previously been open about her active decision to go makeup-free. She announced a “lifestyle beauty brand” with makeup company E.L.F shortly before James and Manny’s tweets. Manny followed up by suggesting that “if you’re known for makeup” it’s acceptable to venture into the beauty business. However, he also notes that being the face of something is different to having your own brand. While it doesn’t appear that either of the two influencers have mentioned Alicia by name, for some fans it seems far too coincidental that the launch announcement and twitter shade happened on the same day.

  • James Charles Googled more in 2019 than Billie Eilish, Kevin Hart & more – Dexerto

James Charles Googled more in 2019 than Billie Eilish, Kevin Hart & more Google have released their annual Year in Search report for 2019, and among some of the most searched terms and celebrities, make-up and beauty YouTuber James Charles makes a strong appearance. James Charles has had a whirlwind 2019, experiencing some of the highest highs and lowest lows the content creation world has to offer. While being one of the biggest names in make-up and beauty, Charles also suffered from a horrendous blow to his character in 2019 when he was accused of being predatory amid beef with Tati Westbrook and having much of the community attempt to ‘cancel’ him – something he spoke out about recently. Clocking in in third place for most searched people on a global scale, Charles is beaten only by former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown, who has had a wildly turbulent year in his own right, and soccer’s most expensive player, Neymar. On the other hand, he beats out major Hollywood celebrities such as actor/comedian Kevin Hart, singer Billie Eilish and Oscar hopeful Joaquin Phoenix, who played the lead role in Joker. As evidenced by the graph below, much of these searches will have come during the Tati Westbrook drama, similar to Hart’s Oscar homophobia controversy in August. This is genuinely impressive considering the year many YouTubers have had – arguably bigger or more successful than Charles’ – but also because of the caliber of names that don’t feature in this list. The full top 10 is as follows: Antonio Brown – Neymar – James Charles – Jussie Smollett – Kevin Hart – Billie Eilish – Greta Thunberg – R Kelly – Joaquin Phoenix – Jordyn Woods – To see a YouTuber amongst these names would have seemed unbelievable just a few short years ago, but this is further proof that not only Charles but YouTube as a platform is catching up to even the most elite Hollywood and global names. With the way things are going, we may see even more YouTubers or streamers crack the top 10 in Google’s Year in Search next year.

James Charles loses Twitter verification following widespread hack James Charles, Instagram / FreepikTop YouTubers across Twitter have had their accounts compromised, after a hacker posted multiple offensive messages across the profiles of such stars as James Charles, Shane Dawson, and more. The hack began around noon on August 24, with fans shocked after James Charles’ account spewed seemingly random, offensive, and sexually explicit Tweets with a Discord link attached. That’s not all: the hacker even appeared to praise infamous serial killer Ted Bundy, posting a picture of the mass murderer with the caption, “Ted Bundy aka our hero.” Logan Paul mocked after trying to help Amazon Rainforest Top YouTuber Shane Dawson was likewise hit by the hacker the day prior, who posted similar messages to the star’s Twitter account, retweeting anti-Semetic messages that sympathized with Nazi Germany among other shocking statements. 500 As if that wasn’t low enough, the hacker also took control of late YouTuber Daniel Desmond “Etika” Amofah’s Twitter account, outraging fans with such messages as, “Shoutout to the people who tried saving me… it meant a lot.” All of the hacker’s Tweets share a common theme, with the malicious user repeating the word “chuckling” and posting a Discord link at the top of each profile. James Charles & Manny MUA apologize for “childish” Alicia Keys drama Instagram: Manny Gutierrez / James CharlesBeauty gurus James Charles and Manny MUA have issued an apology to Alicia Keys, after speculation that they were ‘shading’ her in a series of tweets criticizing celeb makeup lines. Manny and James caused a stir on social media on August 5, when they each jumped on Twitter to voice their thoughts about “people who don’t wear makeup” creating beauty brands. https://www.instagram.com/p/CDhlKDHnlvO/ James was even forced to clarify to fans that he wasn’t talking about his new friends Charli and Dixie D’Amelio. These TikTok stars have recently launched their own makeup line with Morphe. https://www.instagram.com/p/CDhncZqn2mr/ These tweets coincided with the announcement of Alicia Keys’ new “lifestyle beauty brand.” Alicia has been open about her decision not to wear makeup, so eagle-eyed followers soon figured out that she must be the subject of the YouTubers’ tweets. The apology Those suspicions were confirmed on August 6, when both James and Manny posted apologies on Twitter. In these apologies, they directly named Alicia as the celebrity they were talking about. James said “it wasn’t my place to gatekeep this industry” and expressed he’s glad he deleted his “childish” tweets. Manny similarly regretted thinking the range was a “cash grab” and apologized “for being so quick to make a judgment.” in regards to my tweet yesterday ❤️ pic.twitter.com/gO1CFNL2id — Manny MUA (@MannyMua733) August 6, 2020 To add insult to injury, E.L.F revealed that the beauty line was a skincare range, not makeup as originally suspected. In his apology, James made reference to this mistake, saying “who BETTER to talk about keeping your skin clear without makeup” than bare-faced Alicia. At the time of writing, Alicia has not responded to either the original comments made, or the apology. It seems the two controversial stars may have learned their lesson this time around. But the next controversy is never far away when it comes to the beauty community.

  • James Charles loses hundreds of thousands of YouTube subs over Tati video drama – Dexerto

James Charles loses hundreds of thousands of YouTube subs over Tati video drama James Charles – Instagram / Tati – YouTubePopular YouTuber James Charles has suffered a major setback in terms of his subscriber count after fellow beauty mogul Tati Westbook slammed him in her latest video “Bye Sister.” What has not been the greatest of weeks for James Charles was capped off by him losing hundreds of thousands of subscribers on May 10, and possibly even many more. YouTube stats tracking website SocialBlade revealed that Charles was on pace to lose at least 500,000 subs by the next day, which would be the biggest loss in a single 24 hour period in the platform’s history, according to DramaAlert host KEEMSTAR. This, of course, came in the midst of a massive feud that had brewed between Charles and Tati Westbrook, two of the biggest beauty influencers in the world, and who were once very close friends. The major subscriber loss on Charles’ channel started around the same time that Tati uploaded a video in which she effectively cut ties with him after three years of friendship. How the Tati-Charles feud began Things began to unravel when Charles posted an Instagram story promoting a product that was produced by a rival company of Tati’s, something which hurt her deeply. Following that taking place, she posted her own video on Instagram, in which she emotionally confessed to feeling used, betrayed, and “alone in the community.” Although she didn’t actually name Charles in the video, it became pretty clear that the tearful message was very much about him and his decision to promote the product. Charles apologizes, sort of Following Tati’s tearful Instagram video, which went viral almost instantly, Charles issued a public apology to her, claiming that he failed to consider her company when endorsing a rival’s product. “I did not think of the competition, which was a major oversight,” he continued. “I’ve supported Tati both online and off like she has done for me and am devastated that I hurt someone that I truly love and have endless respect for.” 600Tati drops bombshell video titled “Bye Sister” The millions of people who were left wondering whether Tati would forgive Charles after his apology got their answer in an eye-opening video on May 10. Called “Bye Sister,” the 40-minute video featured Tati spilling the beans on everything that had taken place between her and Charles, and essentially made it clear that she did not want to be associated with him anymore. I don’t think there is any getting through to you and I don’t want to be friends with you. I don’t want to be associated with you and I need to say that very publicly so that this chapter can just be closed.” From the first minute to the last, Tati did not hold back when talking about Charles, such as when she accused James of spreading around rumors to make her look bad, and even brought up the sexual allegations that were recently made against him by his Coachella date. “You tried to trick a straight man into thinking he was gay, yet again,” she said. “And somehow, you’re the victim. You know, it’s really disgusting to manipulate someone’s sexuality, especially when they are emerging into adulthood.” “You are using your fame, your power, your money to play with people’s emotions,” she added. “You’re threatening to ruin them. You’re threatening to embarass them. And you’re doing that to have them behave sexually in your favor, even if you’re straight. And you know what, that’s not ok.” Charles apologizes… again Hours after Tati’s video went live, and began going viral, James Charles posted a video of his own, titled ‘tati,’ in which he apologized to her again, and expressed deep regret for betraying her trust. “To Tati and James Westbrook [Tati’s husband], I’m sorry for everything that is going on, everything I have put you through for the past few weeks,” he said at the start of the video. At this current time, Charles has lost nearly 410,000 subscribers on May 10 alone, and is down to 16,144,482. We will continue updating this article with more information as it becomes available. • James Charles left stunned after fan “faked cancer” to get noticed – Dexerto

James Charles left stunned after fan “faked cancer” to get noticed James Charles, YouTube[jwplayer mgzBNoPb]YouTube star and makeup mogul James Charles was shocked after discovering one of his fans had faked having terminal cancer as a ploy to get his attention on social media. Internet personalities know better than most the crazy lengths viewers can go to for an interaction with their favorite entertainers, with some even committing serious breaches of personal privacy for a potential photo op. However, some enthusiasts take their fandom too far, as seen in the case of beauty guru James Charles, who was tagged multiple times on Twitter by a fan who claimed to have end-stage cancer. Among the fan’s many Tweets was one particular post that claimed their final birthday was on the horizon and that they’d tried to get Charles’ attention before their death. “Today is unfortunately my last birthday I’ll ever have, which sucks,” the fan wrote. “I’ve tried my hardest to try and get a notice from James Charles or Joe Woahy.” “James Charles, I don’t have much longer to live,” they wrote in another Tweet. “Cancer is kicking my a** and I can’t fight it any more. Please remember that you gave me the best thing I could ask for, and I love you so, so much.” A later post from the fan’s alleged sibling seemed to confirm their death; a heartbreaking proposition that was later found out to be a total hoax, as evidenced by his response to the matter shortly thereafter. Although Charles had reportedly interacted with the fan sympathetically beforehand, the YouTuber seemed stunned by the matter after becoming aware of the fan’s lies, noting that his own mother is a breast cancer survivor. “I just found out that one of my fan accounts faked cancer and their death?” he wrote in a now-deleted Tweet. “I understand people wanting to get noticed by their idol, but my mom’s a cancer survivor and lying about something so serious just does not sit right in my heart.” Charles’ fanbase was quick to echo his sentiments and condemned the viewer for going to such extreme lengths just to get noticed by him — a situation that marks yet another hugely unacceptable breach of privacy for influencers in an already huge mountain of such instances.

James Charles is one of the biggest beauty channels on YouTube, with over 24 million subscribers to his name. He’s been posting videos online since 2015, and over the years has collaborated with some huge names from Charli D’Amelio to Kim Kardashian. In 2018, Charles uploaded a video in which he had former ‘Dance Moms’ stars Maddie and Kenzie Ziegler do his makeup. One person wrote: “She was so excited to do a video with him, and that is how he acted. I feel really bad for Kenzie,” another saying, “that is clearly bullying, and he did it on purpose.” However, in a YouTube video uploaded on October 8, Charles hit back at the accusations. “This person basically edited this together to make it look like I was bullying Kenzie the entire video, which did not happen,” he said. “I’m gonna tell you guys, I have been getting literal death threats and hate comments from this video going re-viral for several months now, to the point where we literally had to take down the original YouTube video from 2018 because people were being so, so beyond negative, and we just couldn’t deal with it anymore.” Topic starts at 9:24 He explained that the moment in the viral video where he says “you’re never going to win,” was taken out of context, as in the original video he actually said “you’re never going to win with that attitude.” James even went on to show a DM he received from Kenzie after he reached out to her before filming the video in which she says: “You seriously don’t have to apologize, that is not how I saw it! First of all, I was literally so much younger than you guys and I wasn’t as close to you so seriously don’t worry about that.” Although he’s taken the original YouTube video down from his channel, the edit of him and Kenzie continues to do the rounds on social media, with one of the uploads to TikTok at over 7 million likes.

James Charles hits out at critics after donating to fans on Twitter James Charles, YouTubeYouTube star and makeup mogul James Charles has hit back at haters in a series of now-deleted Tweets, after donating to fans he interacted with on the platform. As one of YouTube’s biggest rising stars, Charles boasts a sizeable audience on multiple social media platforms — Twitter being one of them, where he interacted with his viewers in a unique way. In light of the current global and economic crisis, James decided to donate to his fans affected by the ongoing situation, taking care of their bills and even sending them free palettes as a thank-you for their viewership. However, not everyone was pleased by Charles’ efforts to give back to his audience, echoing the actions of other top stars in the space like Jeffree Star and Mr Beast. Charles revealed he’d been receiving some negative comments in two now-deleted posts, claiming that haters were quote tweeting him saying mean things for clout points. “It’s so funny opening up my Twitter notifications and watching people quote my tweets saying rude things, desperately trying to get a viral Tweet lmao,” he wrote. That’s not all; he also noted how quick critics were to switch up once he started his charitable donation campaign, revealing how often he receives online hate and how the tone of his replies seemed to swiftly change once he was being generous. “It’s also sad that I get hate comments all day long, and then as soon as I retweet someone and offer to help out an amazing supporter, suddenly everyone only has nice things to say.” This is far from the first time James has clapped back at online trolls; the star has dealt with a slew of hatred throughout his career, with the latest instances stemming from trolls claiming that the star slid into their dating app DMs, despite being straight. Charles has denied such claims multiple times in wake of his 2019 drama with former mentor Tati Westbrook — but he has successfully put the past behind him, seeing massive success after collaborating with TikTok stars like Charli D’Amelio and even the creator behind ‘Rosa,’ Adam Martinez.

James Charles explains why he needed to take a break from the internet Instagram: jamescharlesBeauty influencer James Charles has revealed why he’s now uploading less on YouTube, saying he had to take a step back from the internet to focus on himself. James Charles is without a doubt one of the biggest beauty creators in the YouTube community. He started making videos in December 2015, and since then he has gone on to collab with plenty of famous faces and has racked up over 24 million subscribers. However, although the influencer has a large following, he has also faced a number of controversies over the years. Most recently he took a break from the internet as a whole after he was accused of “grooming” multiple underage boys, leading to an avalanche of backlash. He returned to posting on YouTube in July, but with a reduced upload schedule. In a new video with Hollywood Fix, Charles has explained why he needed to take a step back from the internet, and why he’s decreased his number of weekly uploads over the years. “I’m okay,” he said. “I took a break for a while but it was definitely much needed. We came back a couple of months ago and I’ve just been taking it really really slow.” He went on to add: “It’s been really nice. I used to post three videos a week a couple of years ago, then I went down to two, now I only do one. But it’s been really nice to just have a lot more time to just focus on myself and my makeup brand and all the products that I’m working on. “Like I was literally at the point of overworking myself so much to the point of exhaustion. Which was fun, like I really had the mentality that that was the recipe for happiness and success. So I’m really glad that I’ve been focusing on more things that bring me happiness, and not so worried about all the work aspect and stuff.” Topic starts at 0:26 When asked whether he thinks people were trying to “cancel” him, James replied that “that happens all the time on the internet,” and that he just needed to take a “step away.” James has been back for several months now, with videos exploring not just beauty trends and challenges but also responding to some of his most viral moments.

  • James Charles hits back at outrage over resurfaced Tony Lopez kissing video – Dexerto

James Charles hits back at outrage over resurfaced Tony Lopez kissing video YouTube: James Charles / Instagram: @lopez__tonyYouTube star and makeup mogul James Charles has hit back at critics after a year-old video resurfaced, which showed him nearly kissing controversial TikToker Tony Lopez in what appears to be a joke between them. The TikTok-sphere is constantly aflame with news and criticism regarding platform star Tony Lopez, who is currently undergoing accusations of grooming minors. In August 2020, Tony sparked outrage online after a video claimed he had explicitly messaged an underage girl. While he quickly issued a formal apology, that wasn’t the end of the allegations, by far. In January 2021, Lopez was sued by two minors for “sexual battery and emotional distress,” with one of the accusations claiming that he had met with the minor — knowing she was underage — and “engaged in unlawful sexual acts.” This, unsurprisingly, has made Lopez the number one most-wanted personality on TikTok — and influencers who once collaborated with him are coming under fire for failing to publicly disavow him and take down any content featuring him. The outrage surrounding Lopez has come to a fever pitch after a video of he and James Charles made the rounds on social media. In the short clip, a playful James Charles appears to jokingly approach Lopez for a kiss, who turns away at the last moment to give the camera a shocked look. https://twitter.com/defnoodles/status/1355952892797014017?s=20 Charles was called out by popular drama YouTuber Def Noodles, who uploaded the clip to Twitter. • James Charles hits back at haters with ridiculous makeup tutorial – Dexerto

James Charles hits back at haters with ridiculous makeup tutorial James Charles, YouTubeYouTube star and beauty guru James Charles is no stranger to receiving hate online — and he decided to hit back at the trolls with a hilarious makeup tutorial using their negative comments. Charles is one of YouTube’s most popular makeup moguls, boasting over 18 million subscribers on the platform — but fame isn’t all sunshine and roses, with the star having undergone intense scrutiny in the past. His drama with former mentor Tati Westbrook saw him lose thousands of subscribers in May 2019, coming under fire after she accused him of using his fame to manipulate the sexuality of straight men, which he ultimately debunked in a response video shortly thereafter. While the YouTuber has since recovered from the scandal, he continues to receive a large swath of hateful comments across social media, which he decided to put to good use for an April 17 video in 2020. As a way to hit back at the trolls, Charles decided to use their mean comments to guide his makeup look, an idea he also used in 2018 — a year before his drama with Westbrook. This time, the makeup mogul used green color corrector, as per a hater’s suggestion, which he laughingly admitted made him look a bit like Shrek. That’s not all; the haters’ suggestions also drove him to use a strikingly white foundation, as though hearkening back to his viral selfie from 2017 that quickly became a meme across the net. One comment even claimed that “skid marks” looked better than his current contour routine, leading him to mimic tire marks on his cheekbones, while another’s claim that his eyeshadow was “cliche” prompted him to paint the word in rainbow lettering on his eyelids. Of course, not all of these comments were just about his makeup skills: Charles also received a slew of homophobic insults, drawing attention to the vile vitriol that internet anonymity brings out against vulnerable groups online. In the end, Charles looked about as ridiculous as can be — proving that haters’ opinions aren’t always worth taking into consideration, no matter how self-important they feel they are. The beauty guru ended his satirical look by asking commenters to leave positive and uplifting messages to other viewers, ending his humorous clapback on a cheerful and lighthearted note in wake of the seriously demeaning comments from internet bullies.

  • James Charles finally regains YouTube subscribers he lost from Tati Westbrook feud – Dexerto

James Charles finally regains YouTube subscribers he lost from Tati Westbrook feud James Charles, Glamlifeguru – InstagramOn May 10, beauty guru Tati Westbrook uploaded her viral “Bye Sister” video, where she exposed makeup mogul James Charles for allegedly using his fame to sexually manipulate men – but this wasn’t the end of his career, by far. Despite effectively exposing Tati’s “lies” in a 41-minute long video a week later, Charles lost over three million subscribers due to the drama – a massive amount, considering the YouTube star had reached a major milestone of 16 million subs just beforehand. While times seemed dark for the beauty Tuber, he has finally bounced back, surpassing 16 million subscribers on August 17 once more – nearly three months after his feud with Westbrook shocked the net. Charles announced the news in a Tweet that same day, noting the irony of hitting the milestone again in wake of the massive blow to his previous subscriber count. “AHHH WE HIT 16 MILLION SISTERS!!! … again,” Charles wrote. “I’m so grateful for every single one of you and am beyond blessed to be alive and do this job. Thank you for supporting me.” AHHH WE HIT 16 MILLION SISTERS!!! … again. :skull::joyful:I’m so grateful for every single one of you and am beyond blessed to be alive and do this job. Thank you for supporting me. :revolving_hearts: — James Charles (@jamescharles) August 17, 2019 This latest milestone follows Charles’ impressive comeback following Tati’s “Bye Sister” video, which saw a massive upswing in subscribers for the young YouTube star in spite of the outrage that broke out due to Westbrook’s claims. While Charles regained his 15 million subs later than month, he is continuing to grow in popularity, thanks to his dedicated fanbase. However, not everyone was certain that Charles would come back from the scandal: YouTube king Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg notably spoke out on the drama in a video on May 17, claiming that the debacle “could be the end” for the makeup mogul. Although Charles’ initial apology video incited backlash across YouTube, Charles’ second video “exposing” Westbrook saw a major shift in public opinion, and now, he has once again reached his 16 million subscriber mark. It doesn’t look like the growth is stopping anytime soon, either, with metrics from Social Blade showing that he has gained over 229,000 subscribers in the past 30 days. With this latest milestone in hand, Charles is looking to continue to be one of the beauty community’s biggest stars.

Since being accused of grooming minors, James has not been active on social media, but he returned on May 10 with a Twitter video in which he warned fans about the allegations listed in the lawsuit. James said that while the situation has been going on for two years, he hasn’t mentioned it “out of respect for her and the fact that it’s literally an ongoing litigation.” He said that Kelly’s claims of being “wrongfully terminated, overworked, and underpaid” are all “wildly untrue.” James also added that he wants to pursue the case “to the fullest extent of the law.” Following James’ video and the release of an Insider article exploring the lawsuit, Kelly has revealed that she is now receiving death threats from his fans. In a May 12 tweet, she wrote: “So many people sending me death threats, asking me to kill myself and making fun of my appearance. It’s almost like someone incited this violent mob of stans on me to in a desperate move to vilify me and remove any of the blame from themselves.” So many people sending me death threats, asking me to kill myself and making fun of my appearance. • James Charles facing more accusations for “disgusting” behavior towards 17-year-old & others – Dexerto

James Charles facing more accusations for “disgusting” behavior towards 17-year-old & others YouTube: James CharlesTwo more people have come forward on Twitter accusing James Charles of overstepping boundaries following recent allegations of “grooming” by a 16-year-old fan. One of the accusers is 17. In now-deleted Tweets, one of the accusers, who goes by the Twitter name ‘a0nnnj,’ claims that he introduced himself as 17 immediately in a video sent to Charles. He says that in response to the video, despite him making clear that he was a minor, James “continued” to flirt with him, calling him “cute.” While the Twitter user makes it clear that “nothing s*xual happened” between him and James Charles, he remarked that to him, it “was still weird how he [Charles] continued to talk to me and flirt after I told him I was 17.” “Hearing many other guys speak out about it, I wanted to share,” he added. https://twitter.com/defnoodles/status/1365626465883025411 The second accuser, whose tweets at the time of writing remain live on his account ‘Lifeofuzzy’, claimed that he too had a “disgusting experience” with James. He claims that the experience happened shortly after the situation with Tati Westbrook and Sam Cooke – where Charles was accused of trying to manipulate straight men into sexual relationships with him. The accuser shared screenshots and screen recordings which allegedly show interactions between himself and James. He claims that while the YouTuber was initially “very nice” to him, the conversation soon turned flirty, with Charles calling him “daddy” and “babe” despite previously telling the Twitter user that he wasn’t looking for anything. https://twitter.com/Lifeofuzzy/status/1365537410675855361 He also says that on the third day of talking to James “things spiraled out of control,” with the influencer “spamming” him and “begging [him] to do disgusting things on video call.” The fan said that they felt that Charles had “used [him] for their sexual pleasure”, and claimed that the internet personality screenshot explicit photos he sent him without his consent. “I’ve decided to come out with my story now because I didn’t feel comfortable speaking about it in the past,” he said. “However, seeing all this stuff on Twitter really changed my mind.” https://twitter.com/Lifeofuzzy/status/1365570509023436802 He went on to discuss the claims in a series of TikTok videos in which he explained the context behind the screen recordings. https://www.tiktok.com/@lifeofuzzy/video/6934471013774232837?is_copy_url=0&is_from_webapp=v1&sender_device=pc&sender_web_id=6891581267042141701 This comes after a 16-year-old fan alleged in a TikTok video that the YouTuber sent nude pictures of himself before “pressuring” the fan to do the same. Showing screenshots of the alleged exchange in the video, the fan said that “he [Charles] started making the conversation very sexual, and it made me really uncomfortable.” James later responded with an online statement, calling the accusations “completely false.” He claimed that the fan had initially said they were 18, and said that when he found out the fan was underage, he told the fan he was “really uncomfortable” with the situation and unfriended him.

  • James Charles finally addresses grooming accusations: “I’m desperate” – Dexerto

James Charles finally addresses grooming accusations: “I’m desperate” YouTube: James CharlesOn April 1, beauty YouTuber James Charles finally addressed the multiple allegations that have surfaced online in recent weeks accusing him of inappropriate behavior and “grooming” 16-year-olds. In his 14-minute upload titled “holding myself accountable,” the 21-year-old spoke out about two accusations in particular which accused the YouTube star of messaging 16-year-olds on Snapchat, despite knowing their age. He started off by apologizing to his family, friends, and fans, calling the situation “really, really embarrassing,” before saying that he “fully understands” his actions and how they were “wrong.” “Within the past couple of weeks, two different people – both under the age of 18 – have recently come forwards and said that they had inappropriate messages from me on social media,” the YouTube star began. “In both of these cases, I added these people on Snapchat, asked how old they were right away, was told that they were 18, believed them and engaged in flirty conversation, and later on found out that they were actually 16.” Charles then claimed he blocked both of the people involved upon finding out their actual age. “When I saw them both making videos about it and going viral, my immediate reaction, completely honestly, was to be really upset… The screenshots and the receipts really don’t matter because I f**ked up.” “These conversations should have never happened,” he continued. “There is no excuse for it, I take full responsibility for that… In doing the research myself, both of these people’s social media profiles would have revealed their true ages and these conversations would have never happened in the first place… To the guys involved in the situation, I want to say I’m sorry. I’m sorry that I added you, I’m sorry that I flirted with you, and I’m REALLY sorry if I ever made you uncomfortable. It’s completely unacceptable. I was being reckless.” James went on to explain that he’d reflected on why this happened in the first place, and said, “It sucks and it is ridiculously embarrassing to admit this, but I have to… I’m desperate. I do understand that with these videos coming to light, it’s really looking like I’m actively searching for younger people to be in a relationship with… That is absolutely not the case.” “The idea of actually being in a relationship became so important to me that I was willing to trust too quickly, miss out on red flags, and most importantly not take the precautionary measures that really anybody, but especially somebody with a public platform, should be taking before talking to anybody.” The YouTuber then addressed the 2019 scandal with fellow influencer Tati Westbrook in which she released a video accusing him of predatory behavior against straight men. He revealed that after he uploaded his “No More Lies” apology video, he hadn’t kept his promise to “be more careful moving forward” when it came to his dating life. “As time progressed, my desire for a relationship never really went away, and I slowly started ignoring red flags again, and also ignoring my friends and the important people around me that warned me that I was going to get hurt,” he said. “To them, I also feel like I owe an apology because I should have listened and I feel like if I did, we probably wouldn’t be here today.” Charles revealed that he has been talking to professionals about his behavior so that he could “hold myself accountable” for the situation, and admitted that he didn’t realize that there was a “power imbalance” when it came to fans reaching out to him. James ended his video by apologizing to those involved and promising to change his behavior, and said he was embarrassed and ashamed by everything that went on. “I will be way more careful moving forward with every single person that I speak to… I didn’t understand how a situation like this could affect the people involved but now I do. To the victims, I am so sorry, and I promise that something like this will never happen again.”

  • James Charles exposes Tati’s “lies” as YouTube feud rages on – Dexerto

James Charles exposes Tati’s “lies” as YouTube feud rages on James Charles, Tati – YouTubeThe feud between popular beauty YouTubers James Charles and Tati Westbrook has resulted in a major shift in subscribers for both parties – but the drama isn’t over, just yet. Charles uploaded a 41-minute-long video discussing the claims Tati laid out in her viral “Bye Sister” video on May 10, where she accused Charles of using his fame to “manipulate someone’s sexuality” and selling out to promote a product from her direct competitor, SugarBearHear. Charles debunked many of Tati’s allegations in his own “No More Lies” video, showing screenshots as proof that SugarBearHear did, indeed, provide him with a last-minute contract in exchange for security and Artist passes at Coachella, after the guru found himself overwhelmed by fans in VIP during the festival’s second weekend. The YouTuber went on to show multiple screenshots trying to get in contact with Tati after warning her about the promoted post before it went live, finally deciding to give her some space after being unable to reach her. Charles then broke down the events that took place at Tati’s birthday party on February 14, where he had allegedly tried to flirt with a waiter named Sam and used the excuse “I’m a celebrity” when Tati warned him that Sam was straight. 500 Charles noted that using the term “I’m famous” or “that’s famous” was a common inside joke between he and his friends, which he used jokingly during their dinner – something that he claimed Tati was privy to, as evidenced by screenshots shown of the guru saying that Charles was “supposed to hook up with the waiter, not marry them.” 500 While Charles went on to address several more of Tati’s claims, both she and YouTuber Jeffree Star have since seen a massive drop in subscribers due to his video, while Charles’ subscriber count has risen. Star had even posted an older video to Twitter in response to the drama just after Charles’ video went live, which Charles used in his own video to describe his sexuality. Needless to say, Star promptly deleted the Tweet in question. 500 Star responded to Charles’ video with another Tweet of his own, claiming that “there are always two sides to every story.” Before you believe anything that was said today, remember there are always two sides to every story. — Jeffree Star (@JeffreeStar) May 18, 2019 Tati has since Tweeted that she has left town to go on a “digital break” from the drama, claiming that she is “disappointed” that Charles’ second video contains “so many lies and half-truths.” I’m working on not reacting out of anger & working through patience for what this right thing to do is.:skin-tone-2::heart:️ I remind you all… as I remind myself to do what you can to lead with kindness. — Tati Westbrook (@GlamLifeGuru) May 18, 2019 Charles himself claimed that he uploaded his video not to cause drama, but to take responsibility for his actions and “clear his name,” and urged his fans to send a loving message to someone they cared for – without being too “forward.” I’m literally begging all of you. The internet has seen enough negativity in the last few weeks. Text your friends and tell them you love them. Give someone a compliment (but don’t be too forward)! Appreciate what you have and those around you.️ love you all — James Charles (@jamescharles) May 18, 2019 As this story continues to develop, fans are left with more questions than answers, leading to a major rift in subscribers between the two YouTubers that continues to shift in favor of Charles following the publication of his latest video.

Beauty YouTuber and social media star James Charles has faced a number of accusations in recent weeks. In February, a 16-year-old fan alleged in a TikTok video that the YouTuber sent nude pictures of himself before “pressuring” the fan to do the same. Showing screenshots of the alleged exchange in the video, the fan said that “he [Charles] started making the conversation very sexual, and it made me really uncomfortable.” The 21-year-old responded afterward with an online statement, calling the accusations “completely false.” He claimed that the fan had initially said they were 18, and said that when he found out the fan was underage, he told the fan he was “really uncomfortable” with the situation and unfriended him. Shortly after, two other accusations came to light from other fans who had been conversing with James on Snapchat. One 17-year-old claimed that he’d been upfront with age towards James, but the YouTuber had continued to flirt with him. Another person claimed that James had messaged him using words such as “daddy” and “babe” despite previously telling the claiming that he wasn’t looking for anything other than friendship. In a TikTok by user @jakecherryy, a video compiling screenshots from Snapchat shows him conversing with James Charles and sending pictures back and forth. • James Charles explains why the Sister Squad won’t be coming back – Dexerto

James Charles explains why the Sister Squad won’t be coming back YouTube: James CharlesThe disbanding of the Sister Squad is a scandal that has mystified YouTube viewers for over a year now — but according to star James Charles, the group won’t be making a comeback in spite of their fans’ hopes. Content houses and internet groups have become a common occurrence among the social media elite, with collectives like the Hype House and Team 10 rising to fame and falling from grace shortly thereafter. The Sister Squad is no exception to this rule; comprised of the Dolan Twins, Emma Chamberlain and James Charles, the four YouTubers took over the platform until 2019, when things suddenly went quiet among them. While many fans speculated that some drama had gone down in the form of a possible romance between Chamberlain and one of the twins, the group’s breakup has remained under wraps for quite some time. However, James Charles spoke on the matter during a YouTube video on December 11, 2020, where he gave a possible explanation for the Sister Squad’s sudden split. Read More: How much do you know about Logan Paul? – Although their breakup occurred just after the internet-breaking controversy surrounding Charles in May 2019, it doesn’t seem like his own issues were the heart of their dispersal. “Unfortunately, all good things have to come to an end at some point,” he began. “The Sister Squad was one of them. Basically, we were all just at very different points in our careers and lives, and we needed to go in different directions. I promise that that was the best decision for everybody involved, including you guys.” That’s not all; unfortunately for fans, James also announced that the Squad will likely never make an official comeback ever again, but did not elaborate further as to the reasons why. “As for the Sister Squad as a whole, it will definitely not be coming back anytime soon,” he continued. “But that’s probably for the better, and I’m going to leave the conversation at that.” (Topic begins at 16:00) While he and Chamberlain reunited for a surprise collaboration in September, a full reunion with the group doesn’t look likely, although the two are willing to link up for another video together, should fans demand it.

It comes as no surprise that Charles bemoans his fame, at times; in fact, the YouTuber’s internet stardom is so great that one of his UK meet and greet events incited an hours-long gridlock outside of the Bullring shopping center in Birmingham in late January.

  • James Charles’ drunk makeup tutorial ends in hilarious disaster – Dexerto

James Charles’ drunk makeup tutorial ends in hilarious disaster James Charles, YouTubeYouTube star and beauty guru James Charles has finally turned 21, and to celebrate the occasion, he challenged himself with a boozy take on his normal makeup routine. Charles is one of YouTube’s youngest celebrities, boasting over 19 million subscribers thanks to his entertaining videos and superb skills with a makeup brush — all before his 21st birthday. To commemorate his coming-of-age on May 23, the social media celeb took it upon himself to put a unique spin on his usual makeup tutorials with a hilarious drinking game. https://www.instagram.com/p/CAiw65TpAlN/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link After every step of his full-face look, Charles claimed he would take a shot of Tequila brand Don Julio’s 1942 — a promise he certainly made good on throughout the length of his nearly 17-minute-long video. While he began his humorous challenge fairly within his wits, taking a shot after his color corrector, concealer, and foundation, he soon found himself truly under the influence, making for more than a few gut-busting moments along the way. “It is Shape Tape time,” Charles said, referring to the popular brand of concealer as he held up the product for the camera. “I’m going to grab a little bit of…” he trailed off, looking at the bottle in confusion. “Shape Tape! Oh, Jesus!” Things quickly devolved into madness after this, with Charles blanking out and staring at the mirror and even passing out at his makeup station. However, the most hilarious moment by far occurred when the YouTuber took an impromptu nap beneath his desk, needing help to reseat himself before finishing up his video. Despite his drunk state, the star managed to sound off his promotion codes and hawk Sisters merch, even delivering a stunning cotton-candy themed look in the process, showing that despite being boozed up, he’s still able to land a sickening smoky eye. Charles made sure to preface his video with a warning to his underage fans and warned viewers to drink responsibly — and while he admitted to not being much of a drinker himself, his first experience certainly gave fans a few hilarious moments to look back on.

On February 26, a James Charles fan posted TikTok video claiming that on Feb. 17, he had started talking with the influencer on Snapchat. In the video, which is currently unavailable on the video platform, he posted supposed screenshots of his Snapchat history with Charles, and claimed that soon he started to feel “uncomfortable” based on the direction their conversation was headed. https://twitter.com/defnoodles/status/1365382812778393607?s=20 The 16-year-old went on to claim that after he refused Charles’ request to send more explicit pictures, the influencer kept asking anyway. “He started making the conversation very sexual, and it made me really uncomfortable,” he said before showing the screenshots. “I was getting really uncomfortable so I told him my age, I told him I’m 16. Meanwhile, he’s 21, he’s a grown man.” Just a few hours after the videos were posted, James released a statement on Twitter in which he denied “grooming” anyone and gave his side of the story. “The accusation that I have groomed this person is completely false. Last week, I came across someone on my Instagram explore page, saw he followed me, and added him on Snapchat,” Charles said. “I asked how old he was right away and he told me he was 18 so I started flirting back. In the excitement of meeting someone I thought could be potentially great, I didn’t ask for a copy of his ID or passport.” The 21-year-old added that he unfriended the fan making the accusations after he found out his actual age of 16, and that they hadn’t spoken since then. “I’m not victim-blaming him or victimizing myself either, simply sharing what happened, and what happened was not okay,” James wrote. “Because of situations like this, instead of taking someone’s word for it, I now will ask to see the ID or passport of every guy I have a conversation with.” It remains to be seen if anything more will happen in this situation, but we’ll keep you updated on any further developments.

The internet is often awash with strange challenges or memes that seem to come out of nowhere, but more often than not they seem relatively harmless and manage to go largely unnoticed – but not this one. The mugshot challenge sees people do their makeup so as to look a bit rough, or in a bad way, essentially how one might look in their mugshot, but many have called out the challenge as “insensitive” and called out those taking part. As with any major trend online, popular influencers will jump on to test it out, gain some interaction and stay ahead of the curve, but this one has hit a nerve for some due to what it depicts. Both James Charles and Corinna Kopf posted their own iterations of the challenge, complete with a bloody nose, bruised-looking eyes and bronzed cheeks, basically looking as though they have been beaten up or been involved in a fight. https://twitter.com/CorinnaKopf/status/1246938369839353856 Videos posted to TikTok of the challenge have already accrued over 110 million views, but as bigger influencers, the likes of Charles and Kopf are taking the heat and bulk of criticism for it. While a lot of people have said the use of makeup and artistry looks great, there are of course people who do not see it as such and have not made any effort to hide their distaste for the challenge. One Twitter user, openedSource, called it “tone-deaf and insensitive” due to the surging number of domestic violence cases, while ‘indi’ said that “none of these people will ever live in fear of a corrupt and prejudice justice system.” Cases of domestic violence are surging. I couldn’t imagine anything more tone deaf and insensitive right now. — @openedSource@bsky.social (@openedsource) April 6, 2020 none of these people will ever live in fear of a corrupt and prejudice justice system and theyre out here romanticising jail and violence whilst domestic violence is on the rise due to quarantine, wrap it up folks! — -`ˏ indy ˎ´- (@indipine) April 6, 2020 Charles did take the time to respond to one follower, Breanne, who said that her experience as a domestic violence victim made the trend very uncomfortable for her. He apologized for her experience and explained the origin of the mugshot challenge, before reassuring Breanne that he loves her. hi babe, I’m so sorry that you went through something so awful and traumatic. it’s a tik tok trend going around where people post their “mugshots” and has nothing to do with domestic violence whatsoever. love you — James Charles (@jamescharles) April 6, 2020 Neither content creator has yet to comment openly on the criticism, and it’s not yet clear whether they will, but as openedsource pointed out, this could potentially be an issue with sponsors and partners if they pick up too much heat. With so many people taking part in the challenge, it’s possible the detractors speaking out against Charles and Kopf move on before long, but how they respond – if at all – will need to be very carefully considered.

James Charles declares “war” on Logan Paul over altered Instagram pic James Charles, imPaulsive – YouTubeYouTube star and makeup mogul James Charles has just kicked off his reality competition show ‘Instant Influencer’ — but its advertisement billboard got in the way of fellow creator Mike Majlak’s own advert for his new book, ‘The Fifth Vital.’ James Charles has been seeing huge success in the YouTube space as of late, with his ‘Instant Influencer’ Original show becoming one of the platform’s most-watched Premiers in the history of the website. However, Charles isn’t the only social media star releasing new projects, as ‘imPaulsive’ co-host and Maverick member Mike Majlak has also just published his very own book, ‘The Fifth Vital.’ Both Majlak and internet sensation Logan Paul posed for a photo in front of a billboard advertising his book on Hollywood Boulevard — which was humorously placed adjacent to a billboard for Charles’ Instant Influencer series. “Best billboard placement ever,” he captioned his photo of the scenery, making sure to tag James for an extra laugh. While Majlak was happy to get a chuckle out of the situation, it seems that Logan Paul saw the opportunity to make a humorous jab toward the makeup star, as he erased Charles’ billboard in his own photo via Instagram. The beauty guru quickly took notice of this change and jokingly called out Logan via Twitter: “Excuse me Logan Paul, I don’t f**king think so! This means war.” Luckily, Paul was quick to remedy the issue with a slapdash photoshop job, who pasted the logo for Charles’ show onto the whited-out billboard, writing, “I fixed it.” “That’s what I thought, b**ch,” the YouTube star tweeted in a lighthearted reply. excuse me @LoganPaul I don’t fucking think so! this means war pic.twitter.com/Gmejgil9pZ — James Charles (@jamescharles) May 5, 2020 In spite of the ever-prevalent drama among social media celebs, it doesn’t look like the “beef” between these two is real, with Charles clarifying that he and Paul are on good terms in response to a fan urging him not to argue with the ‘Maverick.’ “We’re friends and soon to be neighbors,” he explained. “Haha I’m just kidding… kinda.” Considering all the collaborative content James has been putting out lately, it would certainly be interesting to see these two get together to film a video in the future — that is, if their “war” isn’t getting in the way of things.

Charles has been teasing his competitive beauty show for some time now, and finally released a first look at the project in a series of photos on April 1. The show, titled ‘Instant Influencer,’ pits a group of micro-influencers against one another for the title of top beauty personality, headed by Charles as they compete in various beauty-themed challenges. Despite the series promising premise in giving smaller YouTubers a spotlight, some critics are unhappy with the project, noting the apparent lack of diversity in the show’s cast of candidates. “Now, I’m not surprised by this in the least, but y’all really said f**k black beauty boys,” one critic Tweeted of the series. “There’s a dot of pepper in a sea of salt.” “I’m bummed because this isn’t diverse,” another commented. “It looks like a very specific type of person from one age range. While Charles has yet to speak out on the outrage over his upcoming show, this isn’t the last teaser for the project, by far: the YouTuber also announced an upcoming trailer for the project on April 3, giving another sneak peek into the competition before it airs. The show itself will stream free on YouTube starting April 24th as part of YouTube Originals — although the verdict is already rocky, despite having not even been released yet.

James Charles confuses fans after revealing completely bald head YouTube: KevinWongIs James Charles suddenly bald? Fans have been left confused after the YouTuber was filmed by paparazzi outside BOA on Thursday night with a shaved head. But has he really gotten rid of his luscious locks? James Charles, while known for his impeccable makeup, can never resist a fashion statement either, having caused a stir with his choices of appearance several times throughout his career. The beauty guru stirred up some strong opinions when he had some particularly daring outfit choices at Coachella in 2019, after which he explained in an interview that he wears certain outfits to destroy gender norms. As many of his fans know, James often experiments with different hairstyles by wearing all sorts of different wigs, but he has rarely touched the natural hair on his head. That’s why it was so surprised when he told Hollywood Fix that his bald head was real and that he’d actually shaved it. In his interview with Hollywood Fix he maintained that it was real, that he did it himself and added “I’m trying something new…I just did it today.” James also revealed his new look on his Instagram story, first teasing fans saying “Wait until you guys see what I did with my hair” before finally revealing the final look. It’s a bald cap you can easily tell… James has said many times that he never will do anything to his hair again after it falling out from bleaching it.” The only way fans will know for sure is to keep an eye on James’ social channels to see if his hair grows back unusually fast, or if he maintains the bald look for weeks to come.

  • James Charles returns to social media to slam ex-employee’s lawsuit: “It’s blackmail” – Dexerto

James Charles returns to social media to slam ex-employee’s lawsuit: “It’s blackmail” Twitter: James CharlesJames Charles has broken his social media silence to respond to an ongoing lawsuit from his former video editor and producer. The disgraced online star dubbed the move “blackmail” and said the entire thing is “untrue.” The internet celebrity has fallen far since taking responsibility for several grooming accusations. He’s lost sponsorships and partnerships, been demonetized on YouTube, and kept a low profile on social media. However, he finally broke his silence and posted a seven-minute-long video on Twitter on May 10, explaining he feels like he’s being “blackmailed” by Kelly Rocklein, a former employer who is suing him for wrongful termination, poor treatment, and other accusations during her employment. “For those who are not aware, for the last two years, I’ve been dealing with an ongoing lawsuit from one of my previous employees,” he said. “This is something I’ve never spoken about [and] never mentioned out of respect for her and the fact that it’s literally an ongoing litigation. But she’s now speaking about it.” “I was filming and editing three videos a week by myself, and I really wanted help, so I hired an editor. This person worked for me and was later promoted to my producer. She was like my right-hand person for a salary of $72,000 a year. She only worked for me for about six months and was let go.” “Now, I’m being sued. [She] alleges that she was wrongfully terminated, overworked, and underpaid. All of which are untrue.” He insisted his staff have always been “very well taken care of” and claimed she’s after “hundreds of thousands of dollars.” But although he could pay the “ungodly amount” of settlement money and make the claims “magically go away,” he said, “settling is no longer an option he wants to “pursue [the case] to the fullest extent of the law.” James wrapped things up by saying that he understands he’ll need to deal with “the court of public opinion” until the case is resolved. In the meantime, he’ll “wait patiently and come back when the time is right,” presumably once the case has been dealt with.

  • James Charles claims several NFL stars are “in his DMs” after TikTok drama – Dexerto

James Charles claims several NFL stars are “in his DMs” after TikTok drama YouTube: James Charles/WikiMedia Commons: All-Pro ReelsJames Charles hit back at Chase Claypool after the NFL star shunned his latest viral TikTok video, and claimed it’s no big deal since other players in his league are “already in his DMs waiting.” James Charles started the new year with a viral TikTok video of him shaking his butt to a song’s beat. It’s the first video he posted since copping backlash for his two Christmas dance videos. Fortunately, there wasn’t anything controversial about this one, at least, not right away. It’s fun and harmless and has already been played more than 20 million times and liked by almost 4 million people. However, NFL star Chase Claypool wasn’t one of them. The Pittsburgh Steeler’s Wide Receiver was less than impressed with the video. He shared the clip on his own TikTok account. But when the butt shake is about to begin, it pans to him, saying, “Nope. Mm-hmm. Nope. Not today,” instead. Read more: James Charles’ most viewed TikToks of 2020 – It appears that his reaction is more playful than anything since he bursts out laughing in the end. Plus, he went to the trouble of actually sharing it on his account, so most people assume nothing is malicious about it. Still, others have accused him of being homophobic. https://twitter.com/defnoodles/status/1345878724349050880?s=21 James left a comment shortly after. His tone didn’t seem too serious either, but he struck back with a vengeance and made an extraordinary claim. “That’s fine,” he said. “Other players in your league are already in my DMs waiting.” He didn’t mention who they were, and there’s no way to know whether his claims are valid. But since no players in the league have ever publicly outed themselves as LBGTQ+ while playing, it’s led to some speculation about who they might be. https://twitter.com/defnoodles/status/1345878730002993154?s=21 In the end, though, it doesn’t seem like either of them are taking the interaction too seriously. However, some fans think James was offended and made his comment to defend his ego. Either way, the discussion will probably continue for quite some time, and it will be interesting to see whether either of them will add more fuel to the fire.

James Charles carries PewDiePie in brilliant Minecraft Hunger Games collaboration PewDiePie YouTubeTwo of the biggest YouTubers Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg and makeup guru James Charles teamed up for another Minecraft Hunger Games duo which played out completely differently than past iterations. Fans will be long familiar with PewDiePie’s antics in various titles from horror games to battle royales, but it seems like he needs to bootcamp a bit to get on the level of his newfound Minecraft partner. Charles recently dove into the gaming grind as KEEMSTAR’s Minecraft Mondays was ramping up. Even though the two YouTubers’ first foray in the Minecraft servers had its bumps, Charles came back firing in their latest teamup. Charles is the internet’s new favorite try-hard In a July 17 video, PewDiePie and Charles were looking to get the better of the Minecraft Monday competition but in a surprise twist it was the makeup mogul who came to play and lay down the hurt in the servers. Throughout the entire ordeal PewDiePie kind of took a back seat during the various matches as Charles looked like a completely different gamer from his first time playing in Minecraft Monday. The 20-year-old YouTuber was shotcalling, being active on comms, distributing loot with PewDiePie, finding the best ways to go on the offensive, kiting opponents away from his low-health duo, and even trash talking the enemy — as well as his teammate, at times. Charles had avenged a recently killed PewDiePie when the sister added salt to the wound jokingly saying “you suck” to his dead teammate and later noting some of Pewd’s “noob mistakes.” “James Charles said I suck at mincecraft,” PewDiePie said in a defeated voice. “This is the worst day of my life.” But it was all in good fun as Charles was really getting in the groove of the games, later saying: “I think I’m the best Minecraft player there ever was.” Read more: Dr Disrespect’s hilarious ‘Twitch Sells Out’ review covers everything from Lamborghini sponsorships to water beds – In fact, it was even more impressive to see Charles fragging out while PewDiePie was dead and waiting for his dominating squad-mate to leave the game to queue up again. • James Charles claims Charli D’Amelio cries over hateful TikTok comments – Dexerto

James Charles claims Charli D’Amelio cries over hateful TikTok comments YouTube: Zane and Heath: UNFILTERED, Charli D’AmelioMakeup mogul James Charles is getting quite close with TikTok stars, particularly with Charli D’Amelio — but according to Charles, the brutal nature of TikTok comments is starting to get to its most-followed content creator. It’s no secret that the internet can be a ruthless place. In fact, James Charles found himself at the center of one of YouTube’s biggest scandals in May of last year, after being accused by former mentor Tati Westbrook of multiple alleged misdeeds. While Charles has since recovered from the drama, it seems that TikTok has become the net’s resident hive for bullying, with even the likes of rapper Taio Cruz quitting the platform after being harassed by mean users. However, it looks like things are even worse for some of the app’s top content creators, with names like Addison Rae getting near-constant hate and bodyshaming comments — and even TikTok Queen Charli D’Amelio isn’t exempt from the bullying. View this post on Instagram In an interview with YouTubers Zane and Heath, James Charles revealed that Charli often calls him when she receives hateful comments and backlash on TikTok, usually accompanied by tears and high emotions. “Charli and I talk almost every single day,” Charles revealed during the interview. “I’ve been really trying hard to be there for her, help her wherever I can, give her advice, just really be there.” “There’s been so many times where she’ll call me so upset, or crying over comments or things that have happened, like, ‘What do I do?’” he continued. “And I’ll be like, ‘Charli, suck it up.’” (Topic begins at 14:00) Considering the nature of TikTok’s comments section in general, it comes as little surprise that the app’s number one creator often has this reaction to receiving hate online. It’s not just Charli who’s seeing negativity, though; according to research, cyber bullying has risen 70% since the onset of the current global health crisis, with many teens and adults stuck at home and glued to their smartphone screens. While it’s easy to be negative and hateful from behind an online persona, it’s always good to remember that social media stars are people, too, and that spreading love and kindness is far more beneficial than tearing someone down.

  • James Charles calls out Uber after being “threatened” by driver – Dexerto

James Charles calls out Uber after being “threatened” by driver James Charles, Instagram / Freepik.com, UberYouTube star James Charles is one of the net’s most popular beauty gurus with a successful makeup empire — but the social media celebrity was met with unexpected backlash after calling an Uber. Charles is more than a social media influencer: the makeup mogul, who boasts a whopping 16 million YouTube subscribers, is also hugely popular in the real world, and even caused a traffic gridlock in Birmingham, UK due to a meet and greet event. However, even famous personalities aren’t exempt from the odd negative confrontation, as Charles unfortunately experienced in an unsafe encounter in late February. In a shocking Tweet, Charles claimed that he and his employees had been “threatened” with physical violence by an Uber driver in Orlando, Florida, who purportedly verbally abused the group with various expletive insults. “Hi!” the YouTuber wrote, tagging both Uber and Uber Support’s Twitter accounts. “One of your drivers in Orlando just called my employee and I dumb*sses, b**ches, and threatened to hit us. Please contact me as soon as possible.” @Uber @Uber_Support hi! one of your drivers in orlando just called my employee & I dumbasses, bitches, & threatened to hit us. please contact me as soon as possible. — James Charles (@jamescharles) February 28, 2020 The company replied promptly, asking for Charles’ contact information to rectify the issue. At the time of writing, Uber has reportedly taken steps to remedy the situation, as stated by a representative of the company via People Magazine. According to Uber’s spokesperson, the company is “looking into the matter” and reminded People that they boast a “clear non-discrimination policy,” although it’s unclear what exactly prompted the driver’s outburst. Charles has yet to speak further on the matter, as well — but a quick look at Uber’s guidelines shows that the driver broke several tenants of the business’s policies, including its stance on “aggressive, confrontational, and harassing behavior,” which they state is clearly “not allowed.” This isn’t the first time a YouTuber has been threatened with bodily harm by employees of newly emerging companies, either: in fact, MTV starlet Tana Mongeau claimed a gun was pulled on her by a Las Vegas Airbnb owner in January, although further information on the incident has yet to be revealed. Thankfully, Charles is safe and sound, despite a scary situation that put both himself and his team at risk.

Charles’ Morphe eyeshadow palette went live in November 2018 to rave reviews, with the collaboration marking yet another major YouTuber added to the company’s ranks of top influencers. However, the popular palette hasn’t gone without drama, as massive drugstore brand Wet ‘N Wild appeared to release a copycat palette in September 2019. • James Charles breaks silence on grooming allegations: “I wanted to kill myself” – Dexerto

James Charles breaks silence on grooming allegations: “I wanted to kill myself” Instagram: jamescharlesIn 2021, James Charles was accused of grooming and having inappropriate conversations with minors. Now, the makeup guru has spoken out on the controversy and is looking for a relaunch. James Charles has come a long way since rising to fame in 2016 and becoming the first male spokesperson for CoverGirl. In his time on the internet, the makeup artist has found himself with plenty of controversies under his belt. Most notable was when Charles was accused of grooming in 2021, with multiple minors coming forward to claim the influencer had engaged in inappropriate conversations with them. This resulted in massive backlash and Charles ultimately being canceled. More than two years later and Charles is looking to relaunch himself and his brand, speaking to Cosmopolitan about the scandal. 2021 saw the makeup mogel fall from grace with accusations alleging Charles messaged minors despite knowing their age. “[Charles] started making the conversation very sexual, and it made me really uncomfortable,” one of the minors said before showing screenshots of the interaction. “I was getting really uncomfortable so I told him my age, I told him I’m 16. Meanwhile, he’s 21, he’s a grown man.” But Charles has remained adamant that he was not aware he was speaking to minors, telling Cosmopolitan, “I’ve never been more disgusted in my life than when I found out that that kid was 16 years old. I was mortified, absolutely mortified.” Admitting that he “absolutely did fuck up” by not confirming the age of those he spoke to, Charles stated the allegations had a serious effect on his mental health. “I can’t even begin to explain to you how bad that week of my life was,” Charles said. “I was crying myself to sleep every single night. I was sitting there in bed staring at my phone. I wanted to kill myself. I wasn’t talking to anybody.” He also does not believe the interactions should be classified as grooming, claiming “that word is a very popular buzzword right now, especially in politics and stuff. But the actual meaning of it has been so misconstrued.” Charles lost multiple business ventures due to the allegations — with an estimated loss of income in the millions — and his younger brother cut ties over the controversy. Now he is looking to relaunch his career with a new makeup line, Painted, after taking the time to “do a lot of thinking”. “Like, Okay, babe, this is your fault,” Charles said he told himself. “No, you’re not a pedophile. No, you’re not a fucking groomer. No, you’re not a predator. But you made a big mistake.” Painted is set to launch in the summer of 2023, leaving it yet to be determined how the internet will respond to the makeup artist’s new line once it’s out in the public domain. • James Charles bounces back to YouTube milestone in wake of drama with Tati Westbrook – Dexerto

James Charles bounces back to YouTube milestone in wake of drama with Tati Westbrook James Charles, YouTube / FreepikPopular beauty YouTuber James Charles took a major hit in subscribers following the release of Tati Westbrook’s viral “Bye Sister” video in early May – but he isn’t down for the count, just yet. Tati’s original video included a slew of damaging claims against Charles, accusing him of using his fame to “manipulate” the sexuality of straight men and promoting her direct competitor, ‘SugarBearHair,’ without fair warning. Charles’ reputation wasn’t the only thing damaged by Tati’s video, either; he likewise saw a massive dip in subscribers shortly after reaching his 15 million milestone, dropping nearly three million subs in the aftermath of the drama. Despite the severity of Tati’s allegations, Charles debunked each and every claim in a response video titled “No More Lies,” showing screenshots of texts as proof to back up his arguments – as well as older videos promoting Tati’s ‘Halo Beauty’ vitamin brand, even though she’d claimed that he’d never really touted the product in spite of their friendship. Since then, Charles has seen an impressive upswing in subscribers, with many fans feeling that he had effectively “exposed” Tati for lying in her original video on the topic. Charles now sits at just over 15 million subscribers as of May 22, marking a major comeback from a debacle that nearly destroyed his career – which even saw the likes of YouTube king Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg being unsure of his chances of success, claiming that the scandal “could be the end” for Charles. In wake of the issue, both Tati and makeup mogul Jeffree Star have backed down from their initial stance on the subject, with Star removing several Tweets and issuing a video apologizing to both Charles and his younger brother for his claims. James Charles explains why he cut Ariana Grande apology from new YouTube video Instagram: jamescharles / arianagrandeYouTuber James Charles has explained why he cut an apology to Ariana Grande from his YouTube video about her makeup line, after saying she was the “rudest celebrity” he’s ever met in 2018. James Charles is one of the most famous faces from the YouTube beauty community, and makes videos about various products, trends, and challenges for his audience of over 24 million subscribers. In a YouTube video from 2018, Charles claimed that Ariana Grande was “the rudest celebrity” he’s ever interacted with, explaining that she followed and DMed him after one of her concerts, but she quickly unfollowed after receiving backlash from his fans who cited his past controversies. However, in September 2021, he actually went on to reveal that saying that about Grande was “one of the biggest regrets of [his] career, and added that he planned on talking about it in full in a review of the singer’s new makeup line, R.E.M. But when he uploaded the review on November 23, fans noticed that he didn’t go into detail about his interactions with Ariana. After a commenter wrote, “we all know it’s gonna be bitter because you weren’t on the PR list,” about the video, James went on to respond. “I filmed an intro talking about the drama from 4 years ago, apologized for being a dramatic teen who got upset over someone they loved unfollowing them & explained that we talked, are good, & moved on but I [cut] it because I knew no matter what I said this would be the response,” he wrote. In the video entitled ‘Destroying My Palette & Turning It Into Paint!’, James does not address any of the allegations, just making his content as usual. However, some were quick to remind Charles about the allegations. Quoting his Tweet promoting the video, one fan said “we haven’t forgotten”, while another said: “You have to be stupid to think that we’re going to forget what you’ve done this fast.” Several Twitter users also accused James of deleting their comments on his YouTube video. One accuser accused James into “manipulating” them into sending explicit photos of themselves. The 16-year-old who made the initial accusation has since revealed that he is going to the police about Charles’ conduct, with him posting on Snapchat: “On my way to the police station. Bye sister.” https://twitter.com/defnoodles/status/1366504434595999746 While Charles never publicly commented on the second wave of accusations, he did make a return to social media on 1 March, where he Tweeted out “good morning” to his fans. However, this Tweet did not go down well with fans, with one Twitter user accusing him of “sweeping [the accusations] under the rug”, while another noted that this is what James “always does.” A fresh allegation against James Charles has also surfaced Prior to James’ return to YouTube, another allegation has been made by TikTok user ‘sillygeorgie’. In a since-deleted TikTok originally uploaded in early March, the user pointed out that James appeared to be flirting with 16-year-old TikToker ‘dunkingsoy’, who displays his age in his TikTok bio. The TikTok was shared by YouTube Def Noodles, as the original upload has been removed from TikTok. https://twitter.com/defnoodles/status/1366495105293578241 “I’m not sure why nobody is talking about it,” ‘sillygeorgie’ said in the TikTok. “I don’t know if it’s off-putting to anyone else, maybe he just wants to be friends. But with a 16-year-old?” James is yet to publicly address this latest allegation.

  • James Charles addresses surgery rumors in new YouTube video – Dexerto

James Charles addresses surgery rumors in new YouTube video James Charles, YouTubeYouTube star and makeup mogul James Charles is one of the net’s most popular beauty gurus — but his stardom has stirred up some uncouth rumors regarding his body parts. Aside from his skillful makeup looks, Charles is also known for his bold fashion sense, having made international headlines thanks to his daring look for Coachella 2019. However, some critics have used his outfits as a means to spread invasive rumors about the star, as revealed during his TikTok reaction video on February 21. In the video, Charles reacted to fans’ TikToks about him, one of which joked that he’d had his external genitalia removed by showing photos of the content creator wearing skin-tight biker shorts and other such clothing items. Although he found the video funny, Charles took the opportunity to put a stop to the rumors once and for all, clarifying that he had not removed his genitals, as some have speculated online. “Speaking on this topic — especially in recent TikToks, where I have worn biker shorts — there is a rumor,” he began. “And that is that I no longer have my, umm… ‘sister schlong.’ I’m here to set the record straight: it is, in fact, still there.” He went on to explain why some fans might have come to that conclusion, clarifying that certain pants — like biker shorts, for instance — can have a flattening effect on the body. “I wear biker shorts, and sometimes, tight-fitting clothing,” he continued. “So therefore, it goes… tucked underneath. This is so uncomfortable to talk about! I wanna be done!” (Topic begins at 12:26 for mobile readers) This isn’t the first time the YouTuber has addressed speculation of getting certain surgeries or even being transgender: during a 2016 interview on The Ellen Show, Charles claimed that some members of his family mistook him for being transgender, which he clarified was not the case. “Men in makeup, obviously, is a very new concept,” the star, who identifies as gay, explained. “It has not been widely accepted in the past.” With great fame comes equally intense speculation, but thanks to his years in front of the camera, Charles knows how to put these rumors to bed — and even managed get a laugh out of the issue, too.

  • James Charles apologizes to Lauren Conrad for “nasty” Instagram rant – Dexerto

James Charles apologizes to Lauren Conrad for “nasty” Instagram rant Instagram: Lauren Conrad / James CharlesBeauty guru James Charles has issued an apology to TV personality Lauren Conrad, following his public rant after receiving a PR box of empty makeup products from her new range. Earlier in August, James had already come under fire for criticizing celebrity makeup brands when he subtweeted singer Alicia Keys for releasing a “makeup brand” that later turned out to only be a skincare range. He publicly named Alicia as being the celebrity he’d subtweeted, and apologized for considering the new line to be a “cash grab.” James also said: “It wasn’t [his] place to gatekeep this industry.” He called his previous tweets “childish” and insisted he is “not the gatekeeper of makeup.” However, on August 20 James uploaded an Instagram story in which he berated a PR box that was sent to him by a “new makeup brand from somebody who has no business having a makeup brand.” He showed fans an unsealed tube of what was meant to be highlighter with no product inside it. He also demonstrated that there’s “no actual ink in the eyeliner pen.” The beauty influencer ends with a plea to “stop making makeup brands!” https://twitter.com/defnoodles/status/1296310880884232192 This time the turnaround for an apology was much quicker, only a few hours later uploading a written apology on his Instagram story, naming Lauren Conrad publicly. He says he’s “been on the verge of tears all day” and that opening the half-hearted PR package was the “icing on the cake” for weird things to happen that day, ultimately causing the public outburst. “My stories talking about the products were supposed to be funny but they just came across as nasty,” he continues. According to James, he and Lauren “spoke privately about the misunderstanding and are both good.” For now, the frustrated rant remains up on his Instagram story alongside his apology in an apparent move to remain transparent about his mistakes.

James Charles reports losing over 30 million TikTok followers after apparent glitch Instagram: jamescharlesBeauty YouTuber James Charles reported that he appeared to lose over 30 million followers on TikTok after a bizarre glitch seemingly affected his account. 23-year-old James Charles is a beauty influencer who rose to fame on YouTube, where he posts makeup tutorials, challenges, and celebrity collabs for his now 24 million subscribers. That’s not to mention the huge following he has on other social media platforms like Instagram or TikTok, where he has 36.2 million followers. However, on May 3, fans were baffled when the influencer revealed that he had appeared to lose the vast majority of his followers on TikTok without warning. In a video captioned “hello? Anyone there?” he wrote: “Me making TikToks and having 36 million followers that I love & appreciate. Somehow losing every single one of them.” In the second half of the clip, he included a screenshot of his account, which showed that he only had five followers left. Viewers immediately flocked to his profile to check whether it was true, and many of them also reported that the influencer’s follower count was remarkably low. Click here if TikTok doesn’t load However, shortly after, others began reporting that James’ follower count had been restored, though it’s still not exactly clear what caused the issue to happen in the first place. With how quickly his followers returned, it appears as though it may have just been a glitch with the display, but it certainly managed to confuse his millions of followers. James actually lost over 80,000 followers on Instagram in late May, after he posted a picture of him ‘tucking.’

  • James Charles accuser admits grooming allegations were fabricated – Dexerto

James Charles accuser admits grooming allegations were fabricated YouTube: James CharlesA 15-year-old TikToker has publicly apologised after it was revealed that a previous video he posted, which supposedly showed conversations between him and James Charles, were fake. In the original TikTok, which has now been deleted, user Kian Jones showed what he claimed were screenshots of a conversation between himself and James Charles. In the screenshots, the 15-year old is shown telling ‘James’ his age who then responds by saying “I’ll pay for you to come now if you want.” However, soon after he posted the TikTok, fans suggested that the DM conversation between the minor and Charles was fake and edited. One TikTok user said at the time: “This is f*cked up. James Charles is an awful person but falsely accusing them isn’t okay either.” Rumors then swirled that Jones had posted an apology video about the allegations before quickly deleting it, but when confronted by a fan on Instagram, he blocked them. https://twitter.com/defnoodles/status/1381067136538341376 Now, Kian has posted a public TikTok admitting the screenshots were indeed edited and the accusations he made against James were false. “I am just here to apologise to absolutely everyone about the James Charles situation,” he said. “It was fake and it was my stupid, stupid irresponsible idea to do that, to try and ruin someone’s career and try to gain clout along the way.” https://www.tiktok.com/@iamkianjones/video/6949286633552252166?sender_device=pc&sender_web_id=6931184181967947270&is_from_webapp=v1&is_copy_url=0 He continued: “But honestly, I am so, so sorry from the bottom of my heart. I know I’m going to get a lot of hate and I do deserve that, but I’m just on here to say that I’m so, so sorry.” This false allegation comes after up to 10 minors publicly accused Charles of sexual misconduct and grooming. He recently responded to the allegations with a 12-minute YouTube video, wherein he claimed that wasn’t as vigilant as checking people’s ages as he should be because he is “desperate.”

James Charles addresses allegations of sexual harassment from Coachella date James Charles, Instagram / Gage Gomez, YouTubeJames Charles has responded to claims of sexual harassment from male model Gage Gomez, who was seen holding hands with the YouTuber at the 2019 Coachella music festival – spurring an onslaught of questions from fans. Charles posted a lengthy message to Twitter on May 4, where he addressed claims of sexual harassment as alleged by his Coachella date, male model Gage Gomez. According to Charles, he and Gomez had talked for five months before his trip to the 2019 Coachella music festival, where the two “held hands” and “slept in the same bed.” However, Charles vehemently denied any claims of pressuring Gomez into sexually compromising situations – a claim that Gomez made in a video on the topic prior to Charles’ Tweet. “I told James I wasn’t interested in any of that,” Gomez said of Charles’ purported advances in the video. “…he was aware of how I felt about him, and basically still pursued this action.” Gomez claimed that he was “blocked and unblocked” by Charles multiple times on social media throughout the duration of their relationship, alleging that James had gotten upset when he initially denied his invitation to Coachella. Gomez went on to claim that he’d made it clear that he wasn’t interested in experimenting with his sexuality, which had allegedly upset Charles and his friends, who’d decided that Gage was “using” Charles for clout points. 500https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoQoaiGt-3gOf course, this isn’t the end of the drama, by far; purported texts have since leaked between the two, which show Charles accusing Gomez of “faking” his sexuality for a chance at internet fame and a “free Coachella ticket.” This wouldn’t be the first time Charles has Tweeted about Gomez, either – Charles even referred to Gomez as a “con-artist” in a now-deleted post, a claim that Gomez himself addressed in yet another video prior to the harassment scandal. Drama between the couple surfaced after the two were seen holding hands at Coachella, who questioned the YouTuber about his “new relationship,” prompting the aforementioned Tweet by Charles who even stated that Gomez had played him “for months on end.” Gomez has yet to respond to Charles’ statement responding to his harassment allegations.

JakeNBake targeted by serial stream sniper CoolSlick in Japan IRL stream Twitch: JakenbakeLIVEJakenbake was targeted by serial stream sniper CoolSlick while IRL streaming in Tokyo, Japan, and wasn’t exactly happy about being approached by him. With some of the biggest Twitch stars providing more IRL content recently, stream snipers have been on the rise. Most are relatively harmless, simply asking for an autograph or expressing their gratitude for their favorite streamer before going on with their day. Serial stream sniper ‘CoolSlick’ is a bit different, as he’s stream-sniped quite a few creators in more than one country. JakenBake targeted by serial stream sniper Back in mid-2022, Mizkif, Emiru, and other OTK members made their way to Korea for their first IRL streams in years. Just a few weeks later, Pokimane, JakenBake, and more did the same. During the two different trips, a stream sniper by the name of ‘CoolSlick’ approached Mizkif, Jakenbake, and Pokimane explaining that he didn’t know the streamers very well, didn’t watch streamers, and just happened to be in the path of each stream. Mizkif quickly found out that wasn’t true, calling him out during a stream just weeks later. Now, CoolSlick has approached JakenBake while in Tokyo, Japan, and apologized for his actions. “The hell, are you sniping? I don’t know if you should be sniping,” Jake warned. “Didn’t you say a bunch of crazy sh*t on Twitter? I remember a lot of people warned me about you so I’ve been very stand-offish.” “I regret all that stuff. I wanted to say sorry last time, this whole time I’ve wanted to say sorry,” CoolSlick revealed. After accepting his apology, Jake was able to walk away from the serial stream sniper and his friend so he could continue his broadcast as planned.

  • JakenbakeLIVE banned on Twitch for using phone while in his car – Dexerto

JakenbakeLIVE banned on Twitch for using phone while in his car Instagram: @jakenbakeliveJakenbake has been temporarily banned on Twitch after viewers reported him for using his phone while driving, but he plans to appeal the case, claiming it happened in unique circumstances. It’s against the law to use a mobile phone while driving. It’s a rule that applies to anyone, at any time, regardless of status and fame. Jakenbake learned that lesson the hard way after some viewers reported him for doing it live on stream, and Twitch responded by banning him for seven days. However, he opened up about the situation on Twitter and shared his side of the story. He believes he has sufficient grounds to submit a ban appeal because it happened on a private race track. Jakenbake owned up to the mistake but believes he has sufficient grounds to appeal. “[I] got reported for looking at my phone as I was cooling down my car,” he said. “I made a conscious decision to do that because it was a closed track and private event on private property. I assumed that would be fine.” He insisted it’s not something he ever does while driving in public and believes his fans know that’s true after watching him do “dozens of driving streams.” Still, that didn’t stop Twitch from issuing him with a seven-day ban. “Based on the context of the situation, I will be submitting a ban appeal. Due to the environment and nature of how it happened — I don’t believe it falls under the same category as using your phone while driving normally.” It happens I guess… Was from today’s track stream. For reference: https://t.co/jdKGFxoRSl pic.twitter.com/zB5Wr6o6mU — Jake’n’Bake (@jakenbakeLIVE) March 27, 2021 Jakenbake said he felt “pretty down” about the situation, and understands its severity. However, he is adamant his case should be considered an exception and hopes the appeal will be approved. The ball is now in Twitch’s court. It will be interesting to see what happens next. Regardless, Jake’s ban will lift on April 2 at latest.

  • JakeNBake snaps at viewers spreading “wannabe facts” about coronavirus – Dexerto

JakeNBake snaps at viewers spreading “wannabe facts” about coronavirus Twitch/jakenbakeliveIRL Twitch streamer ‘JakeNBake’ was trying to enjoy his last day in Tokyo before flying to LA, but snapped after his chat continued to lecture him about wearing a mask in public. While walking around the streets of Tokyo and meeting with some friends, Jake’s chat was constantly flooded by comments such as “the masks are meant to protect others from you” and “those masks literally only prevent the spread from infected to others not you from them.” As Jake was trying to socialize, he ended up focusing in on some members of his chat instead of ignoring them. “You’re a f**king idiot, dude!” he screamed. “Doctors wear masks to protect themselves from patients that are sick. What are you talking about? Your logic is that all doctors are already infected with something and they won’t get other people sick.” According to the streamer, the only reason his chat was saying masks won’t help against coronavirus is because the Surgeon General of the United States said not to buy them to save masks for the professionals. “Of course they f**king help!” Jake claimed. https://twitter.com/Surgeon_General/status/1233725785283932160 While it’s true that the Surgeon General told people to stop buying masks, he also said that they were “NOT effective in preventing the general public from catching coronavirus.” “If healthcare providers can’t get them to care for sick patients, it puts them and our communities at risk!” Dr. Jerome Adams said back in February. Additionally, the WHO has advised people not to wear masks as there is no evidence they protect people who are not sick. They recommend people should only wear one if they are sick themselves or taking care of someone suspected of being ill. Nonetheless, JakeNBake walked away from his group before absolutely letting loose on his chat in a series of vulgarities. “You uninformed dumbass motherf**kers!” he began. “Listen to me! I’ve been in the f**king heat of the moment for this sh*t for three f**king months. I’ve done my f**king research; I understand this, dude. I understand the risk I’m taking and I’m trying to balance this sh*t out and enjoy my last day in Japan.” He added: “You’re coming here and talking about bullsh*t about the stupid ass virus we all hate. Get the f**k out of my channel, dude. Stop coming here spreading your dumbass wannabe facts that you read on a Twitter article on The Guardian dot net. I don’t give a sh*t!” he raged. Jake then proceeded to tell those viewers they don’t know what they’re talking about. “I get this isn’t going to save me!” he said, pointing to his mask. “I’m trying my best, dude. I’m trying my best to balance out life, enjoy the stream and have fun.” Damn. Didn’t think it would hit me this hard… 😢 I love my friends in Tokyo so much and I’m bad at expressing my emotions Thanks for making my time here so special ❤️ — Jake’n’Bake (@jakenbakeLIVE) March 17, 2020 That all said, it’s likely that the stress of leaving Japan pushed the streamer over the edge. Taking to Twitter the day after, Jake wrote that he didn’t believe leaving would hit him so hard and that he loves his Tokyo friends. Hopefully, the situation will get under control soon and things will return to normal for everyone affected by the virus.

JakeNBake is one of the most popular Twitch IRL [In-Real-Life] streamers out there, entertaining fans with his adventures around Asia. He has recently been spending the majority of his time in China and Japan and recollected about a meeting with Chinese streaming platform Huya, who offered him a very tempting $1 million deal. A usual stream on February 3 saw Jake sitting outside and chatting with his viewers when he brought up the topic of Huya. He had met a representative of the company at an event in China, and was approached with an offer. “If you remember, at our ChinaJoy stream last summer… [we met] a guy from Huya who wanted to poach me to stream on the platform and said they would pay me $1 million,” he said. He then jokes that “we didn’t go through with that deal… maybe it’s leaked [now], but yeah they’re expanding” as he was clearly still streaming on Twitch, months later. The American then continued with his story, explaining he would have also had a job at the company and why he turned it down. “He wanted me to be a product manager for Huya in America or something. If I wasn’t streaming it would be a great opportunity… but yeah, it wasn’t enough.” His reason behind not wanting to join Huya wasn’t too clear, but it seemed that the offer wasn’t good enough for him to leave Twitch behind. Fans speculated that Jake would earn more than $1 million from continuing to stream on Twitch, and he may value the freedom of streaming on Twitch quite highly. For now, all fans can do is continue to enjoy his content and wait to see if he is willing to discuss it again.

  • JakeNBake meets dancing “Dr Disrespect” in Japanese street – Dexerto

JakeNBake meets dancing “Dr Disrespect” in Japanese street IRL Twitch streamer JakeNBake was celebrating Halloween in Tokyo’s Shibuya district on October 31 when he came across a partier dressed as Dr Disrespect. Shibuya is becoming one of the best places on the planet to celebrate the holiday and Jake was there in the flesh to take in the sights. While walking through the commercial and business district dressed as Heihachi from the fighting game franchise Tekken, Jake came into contact with a man dressed as extremely popular Twitch streamer Dr Disrespect. Although this costume lacked the iconic red that the two-time wears during his broadcasts, this party-goer opted for a slick blazer-wearing Doc while keeping the hair and sunglasses intact. Jake tried to explain the costume to his friends, but noted the man lacked Doc’s 6’8 frame. “I know how to fix this,” one of Jake’s friends suggested and motioned for the streamer to bend down to give the illusion the costume-wearer was taller than he actually was. “You’re so long, man!” Jake joked while crouching. “Special effects, CGI,” ‘Dr Disrespect’ chirped back, referencing Doc’s incredible production quality during broadcasts. “Damn, we got to see the Doc, chat. He really is 6’8. Look at this vertical leap,” Jake replied, getting the cosplayer to jump in the air. The conversation then turned to whether or not a 37’ vertical leap was actually that impressive – something the real Doc often touts he is able to do as part of his schtick. “I can definitely do three feet,” Jake said. “Listen, unless you’re a f***ing like full-time athlete, you cannot jump that high,” the man in the Doc costume informed him. Eventually, Jake did his best jump, but came nowhere close to eclipsing three feet, showcasing just how impressive Doc’s claim really was. While the Doc-impersonator wasn’t able to jump as high as the real thing, he put his dancing skills to the test shortly thereafter when music began to play. The costumed two-time started randomly dancing in the street, causing people around him to stop what they were doing and take notice. In the end the musical stunt even earned a high-five from Jake who was super impressed by his performance. It would be interesting to see if the real thing can match the dancing skills shown by one of his fans. It doesn’t help that the cosplayer had one of Twitch’s best platforms to show what he’s made of. According to the third-party website TwitchMetrics, JakeNBake is the 7th most-watched English Just Chatting channel and has over 400,000 followers on the streaming platform.

Seriously. Sad.” Twitch has been under fire recently for a variety of reasons, with one of the biggest being its recent announcement to completely phase out the 70/30 sub-revenue split on the platform. Hopefully, JakeNBake can return to travel the world on his adventures soon.

  • Jake Tran “apologizes for nothing” after being called out over sponsors by Coffeezilla – Dexerto

Jake Tran “apologizes for nothing” after being called out over sponsors by Coffeezilla Instagram: jaketran/YouTube: CoffeezillaJake Tran has doubled down on his decisions and claims he “apologizes for nothing” after being called out by popular internet crypto sleuth Coffeezilla. Coffeezilla has made a name for himself exposing crypto and NFT practices by some of the top influencers in the world, including the likes of Floyd Mayweather, Jake Paul, and others. He even made a YouTube Rewind for 2021, but filled with all of the alleged scams he reported on throughout the year. Tran is a YouTuber with almost 1.5m subscribers, in which most of his videos are calling out “evil” corporations and industries, such as tobacco and Nestle. In one of his latest videos, Coffeezilla called out Jake Tran for accepting sponsorships and advertising them in a similar fashion to the businesses he reports against, or hyping up NFT projects that saw huge dips in value. Coffeezilla’s initial video, which has amassed almost 1m views in the 10 days since its release date at the time of writing, spurred a response from Tran. A few days later, Tran posted a statement, insisting that he had nothing to apologize for. “I put my heart and soul into making free premium videos,” he said. “Every sponsor on this channel helps fund this channel so we can keep upping the quality and quantity. You’re not gonna be the right fit for every sponsor on this channel – and that’s okay. So if you don’t like the sponsors, skip the ads, don’t buy from them, or unsubscribe from the channel, and let the people who are a right fit for the sponsor use them.” He ended the statement simply by saying “I apologize for nothing.” Coffee stated in a following tweet that an NFT project Tran promoted made around $1m before prices tumbled by around 80%. While Tran insists that his viewers don’t have to buy anything that he promotes or spend their own money, Coffee claimed that the exact same could be said for all of the companies Tran calls out, but whether they ever see eye-to-eye on the issue is unclear.

On March 26, the popular IRL broadcaster was hit with a seven-day ban from Twitch for being in his car while on his phone, a violation of the platform’s rules, despite the fact he wasn’t driving at the time. According to Jake, he knew what he was doing, but felt that because he was on a closed track on private property, he would be fine and safe from any Twitch issues. “Based on the context of the situation, I will be submitting a ban appeal. Yes. It wasn’t baseless since it technically violated TOS. But within context Twitch decided to reduce to ban. It makes sense. Of course best case was to reverse the ban, but I also understand this outcome. — Jake’n’Bake (@jakenbakeLIVE) March 29, 2021 Some users further inquired about the ban, and if he will have a strike on his record even though the suspension was “baseless.” “Yes. It wasn’t baseless since it technically violated TOS,” Jake replied. “But within context, Twitch decided to reduce to ban. It makes sense. Of course, best case was to reverse the ban, but I also understand this outcome.” “TOS isn’t always based on law. They have their own terms in place to protect the streamers, viewers, and themselves. Even if I didn’t technically break the law, it’s arguable that I placed myself in danger. I see both sides to it. Reduced sentence better than nothing,” he further added. • Jake Paul’s victory over Nate Diaz stirs controversy as fans claim ‘rigged’ – Dexerto

Jake Paul’s victory over Nate Diaz stirs controversy as fans claim ‘rigged’ Esther Lin/Most Valuable PromotionsIn the wake of Jake Paul’s victory over Nate Diaz, a storm of controversy has emerged, with many fans once again questioning the authenticity of the bout. Social media was filled with skepticism following Paul’s unanimous decision victory on Saturday, August 5, with numerous fans labeling the fight as ‘rigged.’ A trend that’s been a constant through Paul’s boxing career. One standout tweet contrasted the aftermath of Jake’s boxing bout with the grueling WWE match featuring his brother, Logan Paul. The tweet read: “Logan Paul looks worse after a Pro Wrestling match than Jake Paul looks after a ‘real’ boxing match,” implying that Jake’s fight might have been less punishing than the predetermined wrestling bout Logan had. Several fans took to Twitter, questioning the authenticity of Jake’s boxing victories. Statements ranged from declaring the fights as clearly scripted to casting doubts on the impact of his knockdown against Diaz. The noticeable absence of any damage on Jake’s face after the bout further fueled the speculation, leading some fans to decry such ‘circus fights’ for diminishing the credibility and appeal of the sport. However, there is an alternate, simpler reality to consider. Jake Paul, while originally a social media phenomenon, has consistently shown his prowess and development as a boxer. His victories over renowned ex-UFC veterans have surprised fans, but it’s important to understand that the fighting skill set required for MMA doesn’t necessarily translate to boxing, which might explain the perceived disparities in some of these fights. In his victory over Diaz, Jake demonstrated clear superiority, landing more punches and largely controlling the pace of the fight. While MMA veteran Diaz has had a formidable career in his own right, he was no match for Jake inside the boxing ring. Addressing the criticism post-match, Jake Paul confronted the rigged claims head-on. He asserted that even if he transitions into MMA and wins against Diaz, the same rigged accusations would surface. “They’ll say it’s rigged,” Paul said to MMA Junkie. “They’ll say he got paid to take a dive because they won’t even believe it. I’m going to show them the impossible and prove to the kids out there that you can do anything if you’re crazy enough.” Despite the controversy, it’s clear that Jake Paul’s journey in the world of boxing, and perhaps soon in MMA, continues to draw attention and stir up conversations.

  • Jake Paul’s YouTube hacked? Bitcoin ‘scam’ confuses subscribers – Dexerto

Jake Paul’s YouTube hacked? Bitcoin ‘scam’ confuses subscribers Jake Paul, InstagramFans believe that Jake Paul may have had his YouTube account hacked social media, after some claimed that he was attempting to scam subscribers for bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Following the massive bitcoin scam on July 15, which saw the likes of Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Mr Beast, and more all hacked, it seems as if yet another cryptocurrency scam is now circulating. This time, it appears the hackers, asking unsuspecting fans for cryptocurrency, have used Jake Paul’s YouTube channel as their platform. Jake Paul is known for his popular vlog series and has built a massive following over 20 million subscribers but he has not always been happy with the video-sharing platform. After recently announcing that he was done with YouTube and that he had stopped uploading for a month, his fans were surprised to see his account seemingly active again, promoting a “giveaway” on September 6. The post on the YouTuber’s channel claimed that he would be sending back double the amount of any cryptocurrency that was sent to him first, making some subscribers quite suspicious of the giveaway. After seeing this unusual style of the giveaway, many of Jake’s subscribers have hit out at the star claiming that he was “scamming fans.” https://twitter.com/defnoodles/status/1302607637058433025 Other fans were concerned for his YouTube account, questioning whether or not he was the victim of a hack, similar to the bitcoin scam earlier in the year. https://twitter.com/defnoodles/status/1302607647259029505 The content creator has also seemingly responded to fans’ concerns on YouTube, commenting on the post and claiming that it is “not another Twitter scam.” However, as of now, Jake Paul has yet to respond to the backlash on any of his other social media channels, leaving fans worried that he might still be hacked and also confused as to what exactly is going on.

  • Jake Paul’s top 5 most controversial moments before FBI raid – Dexerto

Jake Paul’s top 5 most controversial moments before FBI raid YouTube: Jake Paul[jwplayer mgzBNoPb]YouTube star Jake Paul turned heads across the net after his sprawling Team 10 mansion was raided by the FBI on August 5 — but that’s far from the only time he’s been at the center of controversy throughout his divisive career as an online entertainer. Jake Paul is the infamous younger brother of YouTuber Logan Paul, who incited the ire of the entire internet after filming the body of a suicide victim in Japan’s Aokigahara ‘Suicide Forest’ in early 2018. Since then, both Paul brothers have been wrapped in controversy; but while Logan has seemingly matured (and even started his own podcast), Jake continues to spark criticism left and right. The FBI raid on Paul’s home is just the culmination of a slew of divisive moments during his time as a top YouTuber, which include such offenses as becoming a massive nuisance to his neighbors, being accused of scamming his child fans, and even throwing a party in the middle of quarantine. Setting a fire in his backyard While both Paul brothers are known for “going full send” and pulling off insane stunts, Jake’s early days as Team 10 founder were on another level; particularly in regards to where he filmed his crazy content. Paul incited the wrath of his neighbors multiple times throughout 2017, not least including an instance where he set fire to a mattress in the middle of a drained pool in his backyard. Considering that summer in California is peak fire season, it stands to reason that his neighbors’ feathers were more than a little ruffled; but that wasn’t the last time they’d be ranting to the HOA about their then-20-year-old neighborhood menace. Climbing on top of a news van With fame comes fans — and overly-enthusiastic ones, at that. Paul’s previous Team 10 address got leaked to the public, causing a slew of young viewers to turn up to his home (and annoy his neighbors, in the process). “It used to be a really nice quiet street, and now we’re just this war zone,” one of his neighbors vented to KTLA at the time. “We’re families here, and we’re more than happy to have them live here if they’re respectful of their neighbors, but they’re not.” When a news crew showed up to film a story about the YouTuber, he truly embodied the definition of “full send” by completely owning the controversy, climbing on top of the news van that had driven into the neighborhood to document the proceedings (in spite of warnings from the crew against doing so). Accusations of scamming his fans Jumping to early 2019, Paul was met with a slew of accusations of scamming his fans, many of which are young girls or children. The YouTuber had promoted a website that many felt was essentially a gambling platform, promising fans the chance at winning luxury items by purchasing a “mystery box.” Users could spend anywhere from $12 to $100 on the boxes for the chance at getting items like a simple fidget spinner to pair of designer shoes — but the scamming accusations didn’t end there. Flashing forward to 2019, Paul was also met with similar allegations in regards to his ‘Financial Freedom Movement’ project, the trailer for which appeared to discourage his viewers from pursuing higher education. For up to $480, Paul promised fans a wealth of education to free them from the shackles of debt and the paycheck-to-paycheck lifestyle — but nothing ever came of his promises, and many YouTubers like PewDiePie called out his ‘Movement’ as a “scam” and “complete bulls***t.” Criminally charged after Arizona looting However, these instances paled in comparison (if that’s even possible) to his involvement in a looting in Scottsdale, Arizona, during the massive protests that rocked the nation after the death of George Floyd. gimme my charges and let’s put the focus back on George Floyd and Black Lives Matter https://t.co/nwBZmsxFFz — Jake Paul (@jakepaul) June 4, 2020 Paul was met with backlash after many thought he was taking part in the looting, although the YouTuber argued he simply meant to film a moment in history — but he was handed charges of criminal trespassing and unlawful assembly shortly thereafter, which he waved off in a Tweet encouraging critics to support the Black Lives Matter movement. Throwing a party amid lockdown Paul came under the microscope a month later, after neighbors filmed him throwing a packed house party in the middle of quarantine. Inviting top-tier TikTokkers, YouTubers and other influencers to his home, his Team 10 mansion in Calabasas, CA was chock full of youngsters like Bryce Hall, with videos showing the star hanging off the end of a bulldozer. The event even angered Calabasas mayor Alicia Weintraub, who worked with local law enforcement to enact a “zero-tolerance policy” regarding large indoor gatherings during the current global climate. Now, it seems that Paul’s Calabasas mansion has been ransacked by the FBI, who found numerous firearms within the residence. The famed Graffiti Mansion in Las Vegas, Nevada was also raided, with many critics theorizing that two instances could be tied to Izadi Armani, Jake Paul’s manager of sorts and a convicted pimp. https://twitter.com/defnoodles/status/1291091138544168960?s=20 For now, no information regarding the raid has been released, aside from news that the search was, in fact, related to Paul’s involvement in the Arizona lootings in June. All viewers can do is watch and wait for more information as the star — who was set to face off with former NBA pro Nate Robinson in September — appears to be involved in some serious legal trouble.

  • Jake Paul’s “truth” video ends claims Anderson Silva fight was fixed – Dexerto

Jake Paul’s “truth” video ends claims Anderson Silva fight was fixed YouTube: Jake PaulJake Paul’s MVP brand has dropped a video with the “truth” about his knockdown of Anderson Silva, which puts to rest all claims that the fight was jigged. When Jake Paul knocked out Ben Askren in his third boxing match, critics of the ‘Problem Child’ quickly suggested that the result was more akin to professional wrestling than professional fighting – claiming that it had been fixed. The accusations have reared their head in every one of his fights since then too, with many calling into question his knockdowns of both Tyron Woodley and Anderson Silva. Critics of the YouTuber claimed the three fights were all “fixed” despite Jake being defended by actual boxers and pundits. While he may be looking forward to his next fight, Jake’s team has attempted to put the “fixed” claims to rest once and for all, releasing up-close footage of the fight against Silva. Jake Paul’s MVP brand releases “truth” video of Anderson Silva KO That’s right, while the fight against Anderson may have happened almost two months ago, Jake’s team has now stepped up with a new angle of the knockdown. In a video titled “The Truth,” they showed the close-range body blows that Jake landed on the MMA legend to set him up for a deadly combination of shots. The YouTuber-turned-boxer landed a subtle punch to the face to drop Silva’s guard, which allowed him to throw a hook. The right-handed hook is what some fans have suggested didn’t totally connect. However, in the new video, it’s clear to see that Jake landed a powerful blow to Silva’s face to cause the knockdown. As some have pointed out, the ‘Problem Child’ wouldn’t be granted a boxing license or have commissions sanction his fights if they weren’t all above board. While he cleverly picks and chooses his spots when it comes to his opponents, Jake has displayed some impressive boxing pedigree in the early part of his fighting career and is only looking upwards.

  • Jake Paul’s steroid tests leaked amid Dana White drug challenge – Dexerto

Jake Paul’s steroid tests leaked amid Dana White drug challenge Amanda Wescott/SHOWTIME/WikimediaThe results of Jake Paul’s drug tests have been leaked as the YouTuber-turned-boxer continues to feud with UFC President Dana White over whether or not he takes steroids. Jake Paul has been battling Dana White for several months in an attempt to let him take on active UFC talent and calling for the MMA boss to change how he pays his fighters. In the latest dispute between the two, Jake said he would retire from boxing and step into the octagon to take on Jorge Masvidal in exchange for better pay and health care for UFC fighters. Instead, Dana White issued his own challenge for Jake Paul to get drug tested, suggesting he was on steroids – something The Problem Child was quick to accept. Now, the results of Paul’s drug test ahead of his fight against Tyron Woodly have been leaked. Jake Paul drug test leaked According to sources at The Sun, both Paul and Woodley passed their drug tests, revealing they “produced negative results for all prohibited substances.” However, in a statement to the site, the Florida Athletic Commission said that it “does not release medical testing information due to medical privacy.” News of the negative test comes after Paul accepted White’s random drug test challenge with a condition. “I don’t do steroids. I take it as a compliment. Because there’s no other excuse to me knocking out all of your champions other than ‘this kid does steroids,’” he said. “If you steroid test me, then I want to steroid test every one of your fighters.” While this test may not be one of the random ones that Dana had suggested, if the Sun’s sources are accurate, the UFC President may have egg on his face if he ever gets the chance to test Paul himself.
