There’s more money up for grabs than ever before in esports now which means there are many players looking for an organization to sign with. With the emergence of Fortnite Battle Royale as an esport and its ability to be played from the comfort of your own home, there are a lot of reasons a player would want to sign with a team, whether that’s for a salary, exposure, and free gear, but is that the best path? Tfue and Ninja have explained what players should know before signing. Do the negatives outweigh the positives? Tfue says if you are signing to an organization, you need to make sure your team doesn’t take a cut of your Fortnite World Cup earnings. He explained this to Clix, a recent pro who signed with Misfits Gaming. “They’re not taking any World Cup earnings, are they,” he asked, which Clix confirmed that they are. “You need to get yourself a lawyer.” The FaZe Clan pro further explained his point, arguing an organization doesn’t do enough for them to deserve a cut of your money. “I don’t care, none of these orgs are doing anything worth the cut they’re taking,” he said. “You win a fucking $3 million and they take, let’s say 10%, that’s $100,000 on the million. For what, so you can rep their name in-game?” Ninja echoed this sentiment, saying you need to know what you are getting yourself into before you sign with a team, but there are benefits. “All orgs are different, all orgs take different percentages and different things,” he said. “When you’re smaller, an org is almost 100% of the time beneficial for you. If they’re amazing they’ll give you good exposure, verification on Twitter and make some connections within the scene.” On the contrary, there are some things you need to look out for. “Some people get caught with some really terrible contracts where some of their Twitch revenue is taken by the org, their YouTube revenue taken by the org, or half of it, but they’ll offer you a couple thousand dollars a month.” You can catch all of what Ninja and Tfue say in the video below, starting from the beginning. Ninja angry at Epic Games for not “protecting” him from stream snipers Twitch superstar Tyler ‘Ninja‘ Blevins is no stranger to being stream sniped but he feels that video game developers put too much of the burden in preventing it on the streamers. Stream sniping is often just what comes with streaming to thousands of people a day. There are things streamers can do to help prevent this like checking if their game has a “Streamer Mode” or even putting a delay on the stream. Putting a delay on a stream will stop the real-time chat interaction which is something not all streamers want to deal with, which means the onus is on video game developers to do something. Ninja argues it should be easier to stop streaming sniping and thinks the developers could certainly do more. Are developers doing enough? Ninja feels that stream sniping is prevalent enough in all games that something should be done, especially in Fortnite Battle Royale. After seeing a familiar name pop up again, he shared his thoughts on the matter. “These guys won’t ever get banned either unless we go out of our way to tell Epic,” he said. “That’s not how it should be.” Stream sniping in battle royale games has been a problem since their inception, but the problem has worsened since viewers on Twitch started to flock to them. “Do you guys feel like it should be up to us to get stream snipers banned,” Ninja asked Dr Lupo and TimTheTatman, to which they both answered with a no. Ninja takes it even further, suggesting that Epic Games owes the content creators better protection from stream snipers. “I’m just going to come out and say it,” Ninja said. “I feel like Fortnite owes it to their content creators, their streamers, to try to protect them as we continue to broadcast the game to millions of people.” Ninja compares streaming to a stand-up comedy show, something he has done before, where a heckler would be kicked out immediately but a stream sniper isn’t. “We have to go out of our way to get people removed,” he said. “We have to provide evidence, we have to go in and show clips, we have to get their username, we have to all of this stuff where if it’s a heckler the guy just literally goes “get this guy out of here” and he’s out of here.’ Dr Lupo mentions a comedian has a much smaller audience and it’s really easy to pinpoint a heckler where a stream sniper isn’t as cut and dry. It’s hard to know if somebody is 100% stream sniping, something we’ve seen Ninja deal with in the past, which is likely why Epic Games and other developers require so much evidence to get somebody banned. Ninja is far from the only one who complains about stream snipers as Tfue runs into them just as often, if not more.

Friday Fortnite returned on May 31, seeing NRG Esports’ MrSavage and Benjyfisy take home first place as they overcame Ghost Gaming’s Kamo and Issa in the Grand Finals of the $20,000 tournament. Ninja, the most followed streamer on Twitch, was playing with his long time duo partner Reverse2k, whom he is still struggling to qualify for World Cup Duos with. The two finished a respectable third place. However, for Week 2 of Friday Fortnite Season 2, on June 7, he will be playing with Swedish YouTuber PewDiePie in one of the most unforeseen moves in the history of the tournaments. PewDiePie is best known for his YouTube channel which sits at over 96 million subscribers – the most subscribed to individually run account in the world. His Fortnite Battle Royale abilities will remain a mystery to most who follow him, as he has not exactly made the game a staple of his channel, but he’ll be hoping to step up alongside Ninja when June 7 rolls around. While Pewds’ channel started life with gaming content and quickly grew to be known for some of the most popular ‘lets play’ videos ever made, the Swede has not focused on video games for a long while. He has, however, been known to mock Fortnite Battle Royale above just about any other game on the market today, making the collaboration with Ninja even more bizarre. The news was confirmed by the host of the even KEEMSTAR, who posted a video of Ninja’s highlights and described the two men as the “biggest names in gaming”. The news was well received by the community, amassing over 35,000 likes at the time of writing. It’s understandable that competitors will be so keen to face the king of YouTube – the opportunities for content will be next to endless, especially given his comedic commentaries and statements about the game, and its personalities, in the past. It will be a pleasant surprise to those watching if Ninja and Pewds are able to mount a serious challenge. The tournament is generally dominated by professional duos but some celebrities, such as Tory Lanez, have proven their talent, and even challenged the professional duos. PewDiePie will be hoping to replicate this outsider success when June 7 hits, and KEEMSTAR will be keen to see if the combined might of two of the internet’s biggest stars will be enough to help his tournament break viewership records. Ninja, of course, will be streaming on his ever popular Twitch account while PewDiePie, given his recent deal with DLive, will be streaming via that platform starting at 1pm PDT. Ninja and Tfue battle for most watched and fastest growing Twitch channels Many consider Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins as the king of Twitch, but his crown is being challenged by fellow Fortnite streamer Turner ‘Tfue’ Tenney. Ninja has been streaming on Twitch since it was known as Justin.tv, and was already a big name, but rose to new unprecedented levels of popularity with the release of Fortnite in late 2017. Tfue similarly boomed with Fortnite, largely due to his reputation as one of the very best players in the game, winning successive ‘Friday Fortnite’ tournaments, and joining FaZe Clan. Ninja peaked around March and April of 2018, where he even hit over 200,000 paying subscribers, but has since leveled out. He remains the most followed channel, with over 11 million, but the rate at which he gains followers and viewers has declined, which is expected given the huge peak he had. For Tfue however, he may have never hit the peak which Ninja did, but he is now gaining followers at a faster rate than Ninja. According to Twitch Metrics, Tfue has gained 142,707 followers this week, while Ninja gained just over 100,000. Despite this, it is unlikely Tfue will be overtaking Ninja in total followers any time soon, as his 2.9 million (7th most overall), is still a long way off Ninja’s 11.6 million. But, Ninja’s massive follower advantage is not directly translating to viewers. Twitch Metrics has Ninja as the second most watched streamer over the past 7 days, beaten only by League of Legends creator Riot Games. Tfue though, even with only a 3rd of the followers of Ninja, is not far behind in total hours watched. This statistic does however depend on the total amount of time streamed too of course. Twitch attempt to recruit YouTube Live streamer, forgetting they’d previously banned him But, Tfue is, for now, the fastest growing channel on Twitch in terms of followers gained, and could easily scale his way up the ranks if he can maintain this growth.

The return of Friday Fortnite has made a splash within the gaming community, attracting all sorts of stars to compete within the tournament in previous weeks such as Tory Lanez, MrBeast and DJ Akademiks. It was the unlikely duo of Ninja and PewDiePie which caught everyone’s attention, however, as two of the biggest names on the internet linked up to battle it out for the $10,000 prize. Amid accidentally leaking Mr. Beast’s phone number and streaming the whole ordeal on Tfue’s personal channel, it seems that the beef has been settled, as the trio has been spotted together on social media. During her time in the White House, Michelle Obama started the ‘Reach Higher’ initiative, which aims to “inspire every student in the U.S. to take charge of their future by completing their education past high school.” And the former First Lady has continued her work in higher education since, with the May 2nd the first time we will see influential live streamers take part. Tyler Blevins and his wife-and-manager Jessica were en route to Florida when disaster struck. The exterior window pane in their row suffered a deep crack and it looked as if it might completely give way. As is appropriate with such a serious safety concern, it threatened to have their entire trip put on hold as the airline pondered an emergency landing, but they ultimately decided against it and continued the flight. The 30 under 30 list, first started in 2011, selects 30 influential figures in 20 industries, in recognition of their achievements and contributions to said industry. One such industry is ‘Games’, for which 30 of the most important and influential names have been selected. Former Halo professional turned streamer, Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins makes the list, which is unsurprising given his massive rise to fame as the world’s most popular Fortnite streamer. “Ninja is the most followed gamer on the streaming platform, Twitch, with 12 million followers. This year, Blevins broke Twitch’s concurrent viewer record for a single user with over 600,000 people watching at once. He also finished first at Epic Games’ first sanctioned Fortnite tournament and earned a sponsorship from Red Bull. Similarly, YouTuber Alistair ‘Ali-A’ Aitken, who has over 15 million subscribers, is recognized in the games category. “Known as Ali-A, Aiken is one of the most popular content creators for Fortnite, having amassed 15 million subscribers and 5 billion views on YouTube. Ninja’s first Mixer host almost brings small streamer to tears Ninja / mixerPopular Fortnite star Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins has already positively impacted the community since his move to Mixer, after hosting one of his fellow streamers on the platform. Ninja’s move away from the popular streaming site Twitch was initially met with some major concerns from his audience, when he announced that he would be livestreaming exclusively on Microsoft’s platform, Mixer. However, Blevins quickly proved any doubters wrong by amassing over 1 million subscribers on August 6 (although it should be noted that Mixer is giving out free subscriptions for Ninja’s channel for the first two months), only a week after announcing his switch, and began giving back to other streamers on the site with by hosting smaller channels. After Ninja’s stream on August 5, he decided to build up one of his fellow Mixer streamers, SoloQJokerr, by sending all of his viewers towards his channel with a massive raid. SoloQJokerr was in an intense battle with a BRUTE mech when the host came through, completely unaware that thousands of new viewers were now watching him getting frustrated with Fortnite’s latest addition. However, his day was instantly made better as he was left speechless when realizing who had just hosted him, turning to look at his chat which was spamming him with Ninja’s name, “Holy jeez Louise. I have no words.” After SoloQJokerr had finished with the stream he thanked Ninja and his community for their support, claiming it was the best and craziest day of his life to be Ninja’s first host on Mixer. “I had to turn off alerts as it was an endless wave of over 1.5k instant follows,” the streamer added, “almost teared up and extremely grateful for this man.” Yesterday marked the best/craziest day of my life. Ninja accuses Fortnite opponent of hacking – turns out it was Tfue Top Twitch streamer Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins almost reported a Fortnite player for what he believed was hacking – but it was actually FaZe Clan player Turner ‘Tfue’ Tenney. Playing squad matches, Ninja, alongside other popular players Justin ‘FearItSelf’ Kats and Jacob ‘Hysteria’ Reiser, ran into the Fall Skirmish winner Tfue, who was playing solo. As the winningest Fortnite player ever in terms of tournament earnings, Tfue managed to wipe out all of Ninja’s squad, with the exception of Ninja himself. Tfue eventually appeared to just give up on the fight, going for a flashy play with balloons and simply falling to his death, but his incredible plays had got Ninja’s suspicions raised. Unaware that it was in fact Tfue (all players were using ‘streamer mode’ to prevent stream snipers, so their names were concealed), Ninja was convinced that it was a hacker. “I’m going to go into theater and report your ass bro – literally didn’t miss a shot on me the entire time” Ninja said, before looking to his chat, who informed him of the opponent’s true identity, “Was that actually Tfue?” You can see Tfue’s perspective in the clip below, where he also seems unaware of who his opponent was, before going for the flashy balloon trick shot. Ninja can hardly be blamed for his mistake however, considering the increase in hackers that have been noticed in Fortnite, particularly in the more competitive ‘Pop-Up Cup’ playlist. After the match, Blevins explained to his stream why he had initially believed the player was hacking, commenting on the ‘laser’ like shots. It’s also testament to just how good the FaZe Clan player is, that even a high level player like Ninja would think he is hacking the game to hit his extremely accurate shots.

Twitch’s recent decision to update their guidelines with regards to branded content was received about as poorly as could be imagined. Streamers across the platform from Asmongold to Ludwig to MoistCr1TiKaL and even MrBeast panned the decision. Good for you if the story they assign for you is a positive one… but bad for you if people decide you’re horrible and awful and any time you breathe it’s to be mean or rude.” It’s not a one-off journey either. Nina admitted she “became a worse person during quarantine”, and it took some time following her NIJISANJI debut in late 2021 to overcome the defensive mentality she built up. Some have auditioned upwards of five, even ten times, to try and pursue their dreams at Hololive or NIJISANJI. Your first stream will probably not be as good as your 10th year of streaming. But there’s so many variables that come into content and streaming, YouTube and YouTube videos. “We’ve seen paintings being sold for millions of dollars and I’m sure you’ve heard people go ‘I can draw that.’ But it’s not just art, it’s also marketing and so many other things. I do believe, if you keep creating really good content, it can rise to the top. But you will also need some good marketing behind it. “It’s not just your stream. It’s not just what you do on stream, it’s what you do off-stream. It’s the friendships that you make and play together so you’re always in people’s psyches together. It’s the plan you have for the next week. There’s so much in it.” And at the end of the day, being successful in streaming can be like math. It does require a degree of luck, but if you do your homework and pass the exam, you can make it somewhere. However, Avocado’s content have caused a lot of concern among fans in the past, with several of his videos depicting him crying on camera while overindulging in food. Things escalated when, following a collaboration with fellow mukbanger Stephanie Soo in December 2019, she claimed that he made her feel “unsafe” both in the past and during the filming of the collaboration. The total came to just over 3 million, or 230 bags and an entire lorry. The biggest challenge was to get all the peanuts into the house without any of his housemates noticing, but Niko managed the task in a gruelling four hour period. He even received a visit from the police, who took issue with the fact that many of the unloaded bags were obstructing the road. This ultimately didn’t dent the prank though, with Omilana managing to execute it to perfection. Once the Beta Squad had the prank revealed to them, their attention turned to how the millions of peanuts would be cleaned up. In a hilarious twist, Omilana decided that the best thing to do would be to call a plumber, who seemed completely baffled at the “leak” he was asked to clean up. In early June, small business Scandal Beauty, which sells press-on nails, uploaded a TikTok in which they compared a set of their nails, with the ‘Scandal Press-Ons’ set that was released as part of Nikita’s collab with beauty company Makartt. “We heard there are some new scandal nails on the market,” they wrote in the on-screen caption. “Oh, how interesting. She actually placed an order from us not too long ago.” Click here if TikTok doesn’t load They included a screenshot of a purchase from someone calling themselves Nikita Dragun from LA 8 months prior. Scandal Beauty then compared the two sets of nails, showing the difference in the number of nails and sizes provided, the color of the nails, and more. They also attempted to snap both nails to test the durability, with only the Makartt nail breaking. “We can’t wait to see her rocking these on the red carpet,” they added, referring to Nikita’s collab. Another user wrote: “Maaaybe she could’ve gotten away with it cuz it’s just a simple black french, but the fact she ordered and named it the same is a dead giveaway.” So far, it appears as though Nikita and Makartt have yet to respond to the video from Scandal Beauty.

On top of his regular gaming content, Haywire is well known for his ASMR and roleplay streams. His roleplay streams tend to fall on the riskier side and often get quite personal. However, this time around, some viewers claim Hex may have gone too far, calling out a particular comment he made. Hex criticized for comments during Yandere roleplay stream During a recent roleplay stream, Nijisanji’s Hex Haywire made a controversial remark that attracted the attention of the vtuber community. The XSEOLEIL member suggested that it’s okay for female partners to kiss other women but not men. Addressing his audience Hex said: “It’s fine to give a lot of kisses to a cute girl that was in you last night, that’s fine. Women are a different story. Women suffer enough and get kisses from another girl, that’s adorable. But other men? No, no no we must talk about that.” One vocal response on Twitter called Hex Haywire out for these comments saying they were “sick and tired,” of lesbian relationships not being taken seriously. The same user then labeled the Nijisanji member’s way of thinking as “icky.” Another user followed up with a damning reaction: “Everything I see of this man is against my will.” Hex apologizes for kissing comment On his April 13 stream, Hex addressed both his comments and the reaction of the vtuber community. He admitted to being confused by the response at first but understood his mistake after educating himself. “I looked into the topic myself, read about it and now I understand why nonchalant comments like that can be hurtful,” Hex Haywire said in his apology. “I’m sorry for perpetuating detrimental [stereotypes] like that.”

From the calm looking President Ver Vermillion who can “look into your very soul and read your future,” to the mischievous smirk of Meloco Kyoran, they each have vastly different identities. Kotoka Torahime, Hex Haywire, Doppio Dropscythe, and Zaion LanZa round out the six talents in NIJISANJI’s XSOLEIL generation. A teaser video, released on December 6, gives insight into each of the new VTubers and their personality with the patented one-line quips NIJISANJI’s debuts have become known for. The English star had not streamed for weeks, and was floating in and out of hiatus before the sudden announcement. Yugo Asuma was one of NIJISANJI’s breakout stars from Noctyx, the all-male group which, alongside Luxiem, cemented the agency’s place in the English VTuber sphere. However the DJ from the group has announced his sudden graduation on December 14. NIJISANJI put out a statement, saying: “Numerous discussions have been held with Yugo Asuma on what it means to be a Liver affiliated with a company. “However, despite our discussions many aspects of his activities and behavior as a Liver could not be accepted as a company. “After much deliberation between both parties, as a company who supports many Livers from NIJISANJI and NIJSIANJI EN, we have decided to have Yugo Asuma graduate.” It comes after Yugo Asuma said they would be taking a week off on November 28, but didn’t return for three weeks. The announcement from ANYCOLOR is the first communication regarding the star since the start of December. “Hello my lovely Yuguys,” Yugo said in their last tweet on December 1. “I really wanna tell you that you are all awesome. Your existence means a lot. I’m sorry that I am not good enough to satisfy all of you but your existence means a lot. I love you and I hope you are sharing love to everyone.” Yugo Asuma’s social media accounts and videos are being shut down straight away, with no graduation stream planned for the Noctyx member. “Yugo Asuma will cease all Liver activities, and his YouTube Channel, Twitter, and other social media accounts will be made private, and the sale of merchandise and voice content will also be suspended,” NIJISANJI’s statement added. Some of Yugo Asuma’s genmates have spoken out on his sudden graduation, including Fulgur Ovid. “We are going to do our best to weather this storm as we always have,” he said. “In the meantime please give us patience to compose our thoughts and allow everyone to grieve and deal with the news however they need to. “Wherever our DJ next chooses to perform I’m sure they’ll bring more light and love to all those around them. Go finish off those androids, kyoudai. You’ve got this.” Uki Violeta said the news took the group by surprise: “We’re currently still processing and digesting everything right now, so please give us time. Our hearts are hurting, and we know yours are too.” Yugo Asuma’s graduation is the second this month for NIJISANJI, with Axia Krone graduating from the Japanese branch two weeks ago. Yugo’s departure is also the first for NIJISANJI EN, who recently released its seventh wave in XSOLEIL.

NIJISANJI VTubers start mega Minecraft rebuild after Luca Kaneshiro accident YouTube: Luca KaneshiroNIJISANJI EN’s joint Minecraft server was destroyed after Luca Kaneshiro accidentally deleted half of their village with a bugged biome change. Instead of dwelling on it though, more than a dozen Livers got together to start a mega rebuild on September 15. NIJISANJI EN once boasted a great Minecraft server full of creations from all talents. It was a place where the various VTubers would hang out and play games together in a communal spot. However it was accidentally destroyed on September 7 by Luca Kaneshiro due to an unfortunate set of circumstances. Luca was attempting to set up a server to play with fellow Liver Elira, but didn’t realize what server he was controlling at the time. Luca Kaneshiro accidentally deleted part of the NIJISANJI Minecraft server, and with it a ton of creations made not only by him but a number of members. He tried finding a backup copy of the server, but it overwrote itself just after the accident. It included his house and farm, dozens more buildings, and even the NIJISANJI logo: “I didn’t know until I woke up [the next day] that it was messed up,” he said after the incident. “It was 6am in the morning too.” “I tried flattening it out for six hours. Everyone was streaming and I was doing this in the background. Because the server got reverted back, for some reason when we switched it back to it just spawned this really big biome. “I messed up so bad. I was being so careless as well. I didn’t know I was dealing with a server that wasn’t mine.” The accident sprung an opportunity — not just a private session remaking everything, but a big rebuilding collab. “All of them weren’t sad about it at all. I trust them when they say that — they’re not mad at all. As soon as I told them what happened, they were like ‘we can rebuild everything again. Now that it’s all flattened out we can rebuild it even better.’ I was so confused, shouldn’t you be angry? “They are kind of disappointed that this happened, but they’re like ‘it’s fine’. It gives us an opportunity to work on it more.” A week later, on September 15, that’s exactly what NIJISANJI EN did. More than a dozen EN VTubers joined the rebuilding session. Instead of trying to create stuff in the old server, they made an entirely new map to rebuild on. They managed to copy over elements using WorldEdit, like the handmade logo and specific buildings. They were sure to take a final group photo together — but even that was accidentally ruined by Luca who teleported a ton of mobs onto everyone. It was a massive affair as everyone laughed away the pain of losing everything, making new memories along the way. Luca himself was in his element trying to make sure everything was okay, putting things together for everyone and running around doing the menial tasks. It’ll be some time until it’s back to its former glory — or even beyond that — so NIJISANJI EN’s Minecraft server is going to get plenty of attention in the meantime.

NIJISANJI VTubers targeted in TikTok hack as talents lose their accounts YouTube: Yuhi Riri / Youtube: Fushimi Gaku / TikTokMore than 10 NIJISANJI stars have been targeted in a TikTok hack with thieves taking over the VTuber’s accounts on the platform, privating their clips, and in some cases changing their tag. NIJISANJI management is trying to recover the accounts. Top VTuber agency NIJISANJI is warning fans to not interact with hacked TikTok accounts of their members, as well as working to try and recover them as more than 10 talents have had their work on the platform wiped from the internet. In a statement on June 27, NIJISANJI said “it has been discovered some of our SNS [social network] accounts have been illegally accessed by a third party.” The hack was discovered days earlier on June 25, with Yuhi Riri and Elu among the first victims. Their accounts were taken over by a coordinated group, who then changed their usernames and privated all videos. Some of the idols targeted in the attack had already graduated from NIJISANJI, like Umiyashano Kami. Individual talents have also addressed the issue publicly. Yuki Chihiro, whose 25,000 follower account was hit by the hack, said “I think some people followed me with confidence because of the official checkmark, but it is okay to unfollow [my TikTok account].” Fushimi Gaku also spoke out about the hack, saying he lost access to his account on the night of June 26. “I’m leaving it to NIJISANJI management… but thank you for your cooperation,” he said. https://twitter.com/Chihiro_yuki23/status/1541624789701238784 Dexerto has been able to confirm 11 accounts have been taken down in the hack. Combined they have more than 300,000 followers on the platform. However while touching on the subject of work with friends at a party, she had to explain away some misconceptions, including a big one of her being an OnlyFans creator. Being a VTuber can make it hard to explain your job. Not only is streaming a cutting-edge entertainment business, but how do you add on the fact you don’t show your face and use an avatar instead? What if you’re maintaining your privacy? It’s a conundrum many face, especially agency VTubers. It can be written into their contracts — like NIJISANJI’s Mika Melatika’s — about what they can and can’t say or show, even off-stream. So when Mika Melatika went to a party with friends recently and made small talk about her work, she tried to move the conversation along as fast as possible: “One of them asked me ‘hey Mika, so what are you doing now? Like what are you doing nowadays?’ I can’t really say anything because I am under a contract so I’m not going to be like ‘oh, I stream!’ “I said ‘oh I’m just working, anyways’ and I changed the topic.” Sometimes it’s all said and done there, but not in Mika’s case. Instead, one friend kept pushing the issue because they had something else in mind. “One of my friends really didn’t want to change the topic and they literally said ‘Mika, you should be careful!’ I was like ‘why?’ They said ‘you know you can put rules in your description’ and when they said that, I shat myself. “First of all, does that mean they know me? Second of all, they read my rules? Who does that? I was like ‘what do you mean the rules in my description’ and they’re like ‘rules so they don’t abuse it, you know, the stuff you produce.’ “I was like ‘oh my God what do you mean?’ Now are you telling me that not only do you know, but there is drama and controversies revolving around me, and someone has been abusing my content? I was freaking out — I want to know what to know what’s happening, but I don’t want to confirm their suspicion. What if they were just talking out of their ass and I confirm it?” As the conversation pushed forward, it became clear what the friend was alluding to: OnlyFans. As much as Mika tried to deflect the conversation from what she was doing, the absence of confirmation — plus some rumor million behind closed doors — left some raised eyebrows. “They were like ‘okay Mika, I’m just going to say this but I’m sure you know you’ve been doing this for a while, but sometimes when someone pays for a subscription, they don’t want to be the only ones seeing it, so they’re going to be showing pictures to other people, and then these other people aren’t going to pay for your subscriptions and then you’re just going to be losing customers.’ “We went on a conversation about it and yes, my friends genuinely believed for six months now that I have an OnlyFans. I asked them what makes you think I am taking pictures of my t*tties and posting them on OnlyFans?” How it got to this point is quite possibly the best part of the story though. It’s classic parental gossip. Apparently Mika’s roommate’s grandmother got wind of what she was doing, kind of, and spread the word. Instead of saying she was a VTuber though, without having any knowledge of what that was, she just gave her a vague title of “night worker” which definitely blew things out of proportion. “Just follow me on this one — my roommate’s talk to their grandmothers like ‘Mika has been having this stable job for a year,’ and this is quote-unquote, ‘like she’s literally going to start working at 8PM, sometimes she starts working at 10PM, sometimes she’s done at 4AM. There’s a lot of people, people would watch her, and she just does stuff on the internet and then people give her money.’” The biggest fear now for Mika is how far that information has spread. It’s not like she can just turn around and say she’s a VTuber, but clearing the record is going to be tough. She has got a foolproof plan for now while she goes around making sure the air is cleared: “Now I don’t know who knows. I have to say ‘I have work to do, I don’t do OnlyFans by the way.’”

NIJISANJI VTuber Miyu Ottavia announces graduation after three years YouTube: Miyu OttaviaNIJISANJI VTuber Miyu Ottavia is graduating from the agency, just shy of three years from her debut in December 2019. The Indonesian star will finish streaming on November 27. Miyu Ottavia is one of NIJISANJI’s longest-standing English-speaking talents. While originally part of the now-defunct Indonesian branch of the VTuber agency, she quickly became an inspiration for many of the talents debuting there. However, after accruing 100,000 subscribers over three years, she is now moving on and graduating from NIJISANJI. She announced the move on November 2, four weeks ahead of her departure date. “I’ve been wondering what to write and I’m not sure if I could convey everything here,” she opened her statement with. “It was a really hard decision for me to make, but with this, I’m announcing my graduation will take place on November 27. “I don’t think I’ve ever been able to say thanks to you properly, but I’d like to thank you for sparing your time to accompany me, listening to my singing, and turning into my stream even on your busy days. “It’s sad, but let’s have fun together with the remaining time we have left!” The star received an outpouring of support from her fellow NIJISANJI Livers, none more so than Millie Parfait: “Miyu I know that this must’ve been a hard decision and it’s so sad to see you go. I truly love your Yoru ni Kakeru cover and I listen to it a lot. “When I saw our VTL duet script, I was so happy that I downloaded your lines and tried to match it with yours. I’m sorry I suck at DMs but whenever we talk it makes me happy. Hoping we get to have an opportunity to collab before you go.” The wider VTuber community, including Hololive’s Kureiji Ollie and VShojo’s Zentreya, also left farewell messages on Miyu’s post. Miyu Ottavia was known for her covers and karaoke, while also often streaming FPS games like Apex Legends and more recently Overwatch 2. She will keep streaming plenty all the way up to her November 27 graduation.

There are few trending career paths out there experiencing a boom in popularity quite like VTubing is, and it isn’t hard to see why. Fans love the adorable, anime-like avatars the streamers use to represent themselves, as well as their quirky personalities. Streaming and working as a VTuber, just like doing any job, can quickly take its toll on content creators. This rings especially true if the streamer is suffering from unrelated personal circumstances, whether those be in regard to their family life or their health. NIJISANJI‘s beloved VTuber Fulgur Ovid had seemingly taken a mysterious break from his role, only for the agency itself to later chime in to confirm that the streamer was on hiatus. Fulgur is said to be struggling with his health, but he has assured fans that he will eventually return. VTuber Fulgur Ovid’s hiatus announced by NIJISANJI On April 24, Fulgur Ovid took to Twitter to announce that he would be taking a short break due to personal reasons. He did not specify much more, instead simply stating that he will follow up next with a Tweet once he is ready with a new schedule. At that point, the streamer had only cancelled his zatsudan streams, or streams in which the audience can directly engage with the VTuber. This would not, however, be the end of his break. NIJISANJI, the VTubing agency that Fulgur streams with, followed up on May 2 by Tweeting that the streamer was officially going on a hiatus. They specified a bit more than Fulgur had initially, citing his health as the reason for the more extensive break from activity. Fans and fellow VTubers alike responded to the announcement, sharing their love for the streamer and hope that he recovers soon. Many expressed concern over his health while also taking comfort in the fact that he was stepping away from work to focus on his health as necessary. Some wrote to thank him for the update while others simply commented, “Get well soon.” The situation is reminiscent of Ironmouse’s, as she had opened up about her struggles with physical health and wellbeing. Responding similarly, Ironmouse‘s fans wanted to see her thrive rather than simply survive. Many donated to charities for the immunocompromised while others stuck up for her, stating that the most important thing would always be her well-being.

She beat the record set by Hololive’s Gawr Gura with more than three weeks to spare. 1 million points in the name, 1 million YouTube subscribers in the game. Hyakumantenbara Salome is in every sense of the word a viral internet superstar, and her meteoric rise has broken YouTube records in the VTubing community. The NIJISANJI JP talent’s wild May debut has built up a flood of momentum not seen before. Two weeks on from her debut, Hyakumantenbara Salome has hit 1 million YouTube subscribers. It’s a massive achievement in its own right, but doing so in 13 days and a handful of hours has blown out the rise of various other VTubers to be the fastest yet. Salome’s 13 days dwarfs the previous VTuber record set by Hololive enigma Gawr Gura, who reached 1 million YouTube subscribers 39 days after her debut in 2020. It’s also the fifth-fastest climb to 1 million in Japanese YouTube history. The NIJISANJI star reacted to the news on Twitter with a play on her name and her dream of becoming the “1 million point lady”. “NIJISANJI livers, management, and fans who have supported me… thank you very much to everyone,” she said. Her tweet got more than 250,000 likes within 24 hours. VTubers from all agencies, not just NIJISANJI, congratulated Salome for her tremendous achievement. She wasn’t just the fastest VTuber to reach one million either — she also broke the record set by Hololive’s Sakamata Chloe in reaching 500,000 subscribers too. Her rise was potentially spurred on by a lot of mystery surrounding her debut. There were hints Salome would be an alter-ego of other NIJISANJI stars, but the star is just truly, authentically herself. The star has planned a commemorative stream on June 8 at 11PM JST to celebrate with fans.

NIJISANJI star Axia Krone graduates after long hiatus due to harassment YouTube: Axia KroneNIJISANJI star Axia Krone is graduating from the VTuber agency, effectively immediately on December 1. The Japanese star took a long hiatus back in August due to harassment, only returning to announce his exit. Axia Krone was once a rising star of NIJISANJI Japan, garnering a huge amount of support over his first year of streaming for the VTuber agency. However he faced a targeted harassment campaign, which affected him deeply. While he shrugged it off for many months, it boiled over in August 2022. He streamed for one final time on August 1, before making an announcement on August 17 with his indefinite hiatus. “I’ve been reaching out to take legal action against defamation,” he said at the time, according to a translation. “The slander of my own streams and other livers that has been happening recently… I want to take time to properly settle this and restart my activities feeling great.” He also mentioned he was not a fan of the atmosphere of his streams after debuting, with fans coddling him like they were his mother. He tried to change the tone over time, especially as attacks ramped up against him and his collab partners, but nothing really changed in his eyes. “I am just a streamer who plays games; don’t pretend to be my girlfriend and have strange dreams about me,” he continued. After an extended break, Axia Krone would never actually make his return. Instead he would only break his hiatus on December 1 to announce his graduation, effective immediately, vanishing without a final stream. “The reason is I felt it was difficult to continue my activities because what I wanted to do and the direction of [NIJISANJI] did not match,” he said in his own statement according to the translation. “It was a short period, but I was very happy to be able to share the fun with many people. Thank you very much to those who have supported me until now, and those who have taken care of me.” NIJISANJI also released a statement, adding they accepted the reasons for his graduation and thanking those who supported him. It comes after NIJISANJI reportedly filed numerous lawsuits against fans online for harassing and stalking their creators. The agency reportedly handled 88 cases across 12 months up to Sepetember 2022.

NIJISANJI star Enna Alouette asks fans to stop clipping unarchived streams YouTube: Enna AlouetteEnna Alouette has been throwing some unarchived streams into the mix for her Aloupeeps, but clippers have been making them public. After an entire stream was uploaded by a third-party, the NIJISANJI star nudged fans to stop clipping those streams as it affects her future content schedule. It’s been a busy period for Enna Alouette. The NIJISANJI VTuber hit 400,000 subscribers in mid-August, and the third English generation member is gearing up for her first anniversary in October. However as her stream schedule ramps up with crazy collaborations, she has been trying to do some more personal streams to her dedicated Alouettes, unarchiving them for later rebroadcast. It’s an unofficial rule in the VTuber community if a big streamer, agency-signed or independent, streams without archiving (saving the VOD), fans should do their best to not recirculate clips from it. That hasn’t stopped some from targeting Enna’s recent English karaoke stream on September 3 as she pushed through a bit of a fever to put on a show for her Aloupeeps. She was planning on rebroadcasting it at a later date, but the clips circulating make that harder. In response, the star asked fans to be considerate of what they clip as it can impact her future content. “I’ve been told there’s been a lot of clipping on my unarchived English karaoke, and while I super appreciate that, technically that’s not really supposed to happen,” Enna said on Twitter. “There’s even the entire stream uploaded which defeats the purpose of my rebroadcast. She made a plea to clippers out there to take down their VODs of the unarchived stream, and asked her followers to stay vigilant and look out for any clips. Enna doesn’t want her fans to start pestering clippers though — it’s just a reminder — and any archived stream is fair game. “If possible, please take it down or if you see it, please let the people who have been uploading, know! There’s not much I can really do about it but I promise we can do more English karaoke since they are going to be unarchived. “Don’t be upset at the people who were uploading the unarchived stream. The company has just reported their viewership numbers for 2022 to the end of October, and it shows a notable increase as they bring in more talents. Their YouTube viewing time has crested 191 million hours in both quarters of the 2022/23 financial year, starting in April, according to their December 15 report. This is split similarly across all branches excluding VirtuaReal, which isn’t included in the statistics. NIJISANJI EN, despite making up 15.4% of the agency’s talents, make up about 19% of all viewership with 73 million hours in the last six months. NIJISANJI’s Japanese Livers account for 80% of the hours, while the final 1% is their formerly-distinct Indonesian and Korean talents. The numbers also don’t include Twitch streams, which more NIJISANJI talents are taking up. Yuki Chihiro is the most notable, with the Japanese Liver breaking into the top 10 female streamers worldwide with her broadcasts on both YouTube and Twitch. The number of talents didn’t change between the first and second quarters of 2022 for reporting’s sake, but the recent debut of XSOLEIL will affect these numbers for Q3 2022, as well as the graduations of Miyu Ottavia, Axia Krone, and Yugo Asuma. With more events on the horizon, and a big profit posted in the latest quarter, the future’s looking bright for NIJISANJI if they can continue their growth.

Selen Tatsuki has been flat out trying to give her beloved dragoons plenty of great content over the last few months. Having celebrated major milestones like reaching 500,000 subscribers on YouTube, it’s just been non-stop action for the sky dragon. Now with the content slowly dying down following the group’s one-year anniversary in July 2022, she’s ready to take a break. There’s just one thing left in her schedule, OBSYDIA’s new outfit reveal. It’s the NIJISANJI EN generation’s first model update since their debuts, and it came as a surprise for fans too. For Selen though, it was just the cherry on top of all her tasks before that much needed time off. “Now you guys know why I’ve been tired almost every day,” she laughed on stream. “Since the start of August because literally right after the anniversary, we were told that it’s time to prep for outfit reveal and I was like ‘oh’. “So I’ve been basically setting up the stream for the outfit reveal — I hope you guys like the stream. I’m just going to say that!” Selen reportedly tried to knock back the outfit reveal to sometime in September so she could catch her breath between events and collaborations. However management forced her to do it no later than August 29 — so that’s exactly when she’s doing it. “The reason why my outfit reveal is so late is because I told management that I literally cannot do it earlier. I was like ‘I need time,’” she continued. “The latest I could do was August 29. I needed more time between my projects because I was so ready to be like ‘nope, nothing.’” However, once it’s done, the sky dragon will be taking a little break — her first major one since debuting — to reset the batteries. And in her words she’s “ready to f**king hibernate. “I’m just so looking forward to my break. It’s so close! Just two more weeks, and then finally I’ll be free!” As for what Selen will do during her break? She hasn’t yet shared that information, but maybe some Apex grinding off-stream could be on the cards. Even then she’s said she would go on break before but has constantly booked herself into numerous collabs. Between now and then though there’s still an outfit reveal to do, and the one thing she hopes is her beloved dragoons at least find it “cool”.

NIJISANJI posts major profit as VTuber agency continues skyrocketing success NIJISANJIANYCOLOR, the company behind mega VTuber agency NIJISANJI, has posted a record profit in Q2 2022/23, according to Japanese financial listings. It comes as the medium continues its massive growth, with plenty of new debuts and events. NIJISANJI is known for its vast range of talents, with more than 200 worldwide across all of its divisions in Japan, China, South Korea, Indonesia, and the West. They’ve leveraged that growth to go “public”, becoming the first VTuber agency to be listed on a global stock exchange. That means their financial records are open for all, and their recent report for the Q2 2022/23 quarter highlights significant growth among their success. The company posted nearly 12 billion Japanese Yen in revenue, or around $87.13 million in USD. This includes a net profit of 2.99 billion JPY, or $21.76 million USD across the last three months. It breaks all expectations ANYCOLOR and NIJISANJI had at the start of the year, with their profit nearly doubling from the 2021/22 financial year to the current one. ANYCOLOR is the only publicly-listed VTuber agency, having a spot on the Tokyo Stock Exchange as part of their Growth Market. The agency is looking to upgrade its status as a Prime Market company, highlighting its new-found stability and intent for long-term development. The revenue numbers don’t stop there though. According to the December 15 report, each Japanese VTuber in the agency makes around 40 million JPY for the company every three months, or around $290,000 USD. For NIJISANJI EN and its 26 Livers at the time of the reports publishing — taking into account the figures of recently graduated star Yugo Asuma — that balloons out to 55 million JPY, or around $400,000 USD. That isn’t how much each VTuber is making on average, but how much money they’re bringing into the company. Most of this money is through “commerce” such as merchandise, but live streaming also makes up a significant portion of revenue. Live events, such as Meet and Greets and NIJIfes, also contribute to the total. It’s unclear how each stream is split between ANYCOLOR and its VTubers. Despite the positive report, ANYCOLOR’s stock price has suffered significantly in December. It has fallen 45% in the past month to 6,520 JPY a share at the time of publishing. It is still up 18% for the year, but the lifting of ANYCOLOR’s share lock-up from their earlier IPO leading to major selling activity, as well as Yugo Asuma and Axia Krone’s recent graduations, have seen it slide dramatically. As for what the future holds? NIJISANJI is profitable and expects to grow much further. With nearly 300 employees on the books supporting the talents and growing the VTubing space, including through their Virtual Talent Academy, the ceiling is still yet to be broken.

This included Nina Kosaka opening up about being the ‘black sheep’ at debut, but growing into her role as Ethyria’s ‘mom’ and bonding with her genmates. VTubers, especially in an agency, may identify more broadly with who they’re signed to, but there’s a closer personal connection within groups. Often new talents debut in waves, and each unique group bonds closely with each other as they debut and collaborate together. However, at debut it wasn’t perfectly unified for NIJISANJI EN’s Ethyria. While Reimu Endou, Millie Parfait, Enna Alouette, and Nina Kosaka had their debuts together, there was a little division at the start, especially for the latter. Talking to Alban Knox from NIJISANJI’s hyper-popular Noctyx group, Nina couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy hearing their pre-debut stories, leading her onto a tangent about her experience being the ‘black sheep’ of Ethyria. “I tried to get Ethyria into a group call twice a week. I was like ‘hey we should talk and get to know each other,’” she said on stream. “They kept telling me they were busy and they couldn’t make the call. “Months down the line I found out the three of them would voice call each other. When I found that out, I’ll be honest, I felt like ‘man, I’m just being a cool coworker’ and I kind of took it personally. I just started doing my own thing. But it really wasn’t personal — they have a lot more things in common than I did with them, and I guess to them they were like ‘we don’t need to do a voice call, we already voice called’ but they didn’t think I’d also like to.” However, it’s far from being a division within the group. Across the last year, Nina has gotten to know her genmates incredibly well, and calls them dear friends. She did joke she’s too “normie” for the rest of her rather outrageous group, but they also knew each other before debuting for NIJISANJI which put up somewhat of a barrier. “With Ethyria, because Enna and Millie know each other, and they both had each other as a crutch, they really were okay with not interacting with other people. They bonded with Reimu over similar stuff and I didn’t. It’s fine, things are good now, it’s been a year, we can talk about it. “Sometimes it’s funny because Ethyria will be like ‘yeah why didn’t we talk much before.’ I’m always like ‘it wasn’t for lack of trying!’ I remember after our first collab the girls were like ‘it would have been better if we had a conversation before this’ and I was looking into the camera, The Office-style. I guess it would have been nice if we had rehearsed,” she laughed. “I’m a little jealous but it’s okay because we talk and hang out. Now it’s gotten to the point where like whenever they’re doing stuff it’s the three of them arguing and I’m sipping my wine like ‘this is nice’. Nina didn’t absolve herself of all responsibility either. She knew she didn’t share the exact same interests as the rest of her genmates, and she maybe got the wrong read on the room: “Yeah I was upset when that happened, but it’s normal and natural. “To be honest, I misunderstood the situation as well. They would just call sometimes to chat about stuff, but I took it as ‘wow you don’t want to talk to me.’” It’s “fun to look back” now for Ethyria, and there’s no bad blood between any of the NIJISANJI VTubers. In fact it’s a great story to bring up with other generations as they come through the ranks — and maybe serves as a lesson for some.

Nijisanji opens “acting-focus” VTuber auditions as agency looks to innovate NijisanjiNijisanji has opened its latest auditions for Nijisanji EN, but they aren’t as many had expected with the VTuber agency specifically looking for “acting-focus VTubers,” suggesting a shift from traditional streaming to something more unique. It’s not unheard of by any means for a VTuber to get into character. Some of the biggest names in the industry do just that with the likes of La+ Darkness, Pekora, and Debidebi Debiru all being good examples. However, voice acting and playing a character have always been secondary to entertainment. For most VTubers, this means dropping the act soon after their debut and focusing on delivering content. However, newly opened auditions suggest the next Nijisanji members could be far more character-driven with AnyColor going as far as to hire dedicated voice actors. Nijisanji EN wants talented voice actors for its next wave Sharing the application form on Twitter, Nijisanji EN Official posted: “NIJISANJI EN Acting-focus VTuber Audition. Please check the application form for more details. Audition period Sunday, December 10th 2023 at 19:00 PST.” However, the application form attached wasn’t the Nijisanji standard instead putting a huge emphasis on “acting focus,” effectively pushing for voice actors to audition. While most VTuber auditions are left open to the individual, this one is much more specific in what is required: “Please pick a character that suits you best from the options below, and creating a story for the character. and submit a video presenting the story in character.” The four available stories to pick from are: “You are a regular office worker by day, and an idol by night. Can you hide your secret identity while trying to live a double life?” – “You are a traveler researching a planet’s ecosystem. Play out a scene in which you go scouting in a new location.” – “You’re a gatekeeper of hell who acquired a cursed weapon. You are eroded by the weapon, and you begin to lose your humanity. Portray the gatekeeper’s story.” – “You are a martial artist who loves proving your strength in fighting rings. Recently, it was discovered that aliens are real and with new space travel technology, you start your journey across the universe looking for strong opponents to challenge.” – The application explicitly states “original character ideas created by candidates other than the above options will not be considered,” so applicants will want to stick to the four provided character descriptions. This idea was largely well received by the community with many praising it for being original and interesting. Given Nijisanji’s usual gap between auditions and debuts, fans can expect these new talents to start their VTubing activities in 2-4 months.

NIJISANJI’s Mashiro forced to redebut as first YouTube channel remains banned YouTube: NIJISANJIDespite NIJISANJI’s best efforts to recover Mashiro’s first YouTube channel following its permanent suspension, the Japanese VTuber has been forced to redebut on a second channel — essentially starting with a clean slate. NIJISANJI’s Mashiro has been forced to start from square one after his original YouTube channel has been deemed unrecoverable. The male VTuber, who once boasted 370,000 subscribers on the platform, was banned on June 8 for an unknown reason. The agency did state a change in policy had affected some channels with a number of creators taking down their ASMR videos as a result. While NIJISANJI was working with YouTube to try and overturn Mashiro’s ban, the agency was ultimately unsuccessful. However, after a month-long break, the male VTuber is returning anew with a redebut on July 8 on a brand new channel. “We have opened a new channel due to the suspension of Mashiro’s channel,” the agency said on Twitter. “We apologize for the inconvenience to our fans. He posted a red-tinted photo of himself in a forest on June 17 with the caption “please wait” following his suspension, but that’s it. Mashiro has lost practically all of his videos since his debut dating back to December 2019. The only remnants that remain are certain collabs or clips on other channels, but nothing on his original YouTube account. YouTube’s policy around channel terminations does state “if your channel or account is terminated, you may be unable to use, own, or create any other YouTube channels.” It remains to be seen whether the platform will continue cracking down on Mashiro with his one banned account. Despite this, Mashiro has already managed to regain more than 65,000 subscribers ahead of his July 8 redebut, with the numbers flying up by the hour in anticipation of his ‘first broadcast’.

The all-male quartet join the already 200-strong idols under the talent’s banner, further expanding their reach primarily in the Japanese market. VOLTACTION was revealed on July 13 to much applause on Twitter. The group’s debut music single, Inlaid, was also released on the same day. It broke 300,000 views on YouTube within 24 hours. It wasn’t much of a secret — fans spotted billboards in Japan starting on July 11, days before the official launch of the new NIJISANJI group. The four talents are named: Fura Kanato, Watari Hibari, Shikinagi Akira, and Seraph Dazzlegarden. All of them have different lore origins, from mafia stories to assassins — but all of them tie into a similar sneaky theme. Immediately fans jumped on board with the new stars on social media. After the explosive launch of English group Luxiem at the end of the 2021, NIJISANJI has seen a lot of success with debuting new male VTubers. Before even debuting each of the talents has more than 20,000 subscribers on YouTube and rising, while their Twitter followings are already nearing 100,000 each. NIJISANJI VOLTACTION debut dates NIJISANJI VOLTACTION is set to debut on July 16, 2022. The four talents will be debuting in a relay format, with Fura Kanato to open up proceedings. It is the first time a male VTuber has atop the rankings. Hololive’s crown as the premier VTuber talent agency has lost a little bit of its shine with competitors catching up to the pioneers. According to a report by Stream Hatchet, Nijisanji VTuber Kuzuha is leading the way in terms of hours watched. Kuzuha topped the YouTube charts in terms of VTuber viewership, with nearly 9 million hours watched between July and September 2021. While he might not be as big as some of his Hololive rivals, his daily stream schedule across the last three months — as well as a big music single release in September — propelled him to the top of the charts. The Japanese Apex Legends streamer crested 1 million YouTube subscribers on September 2, as well as debuted a new Live2D costume that same month. He has also played in a number of Japanese Apex Legends and Valorant tournaments alongside pro players and fellow VTubers like Shibuya HAL, who placed third on the Q3 2021 list with just over 6 million hours watched. Hololive were still represented in the top five, with Usada Pekora in second at 6.6m viewers and Sakura Miko at 4.8m in fourth. Nijisanji managed to round out the list with Kanae at 3.8m hours watched in three months. Surprisingly, there was no representation from the mega-popular Hololive EN idols like Gawr Gura — who still tops VTuber subscriber count ranks with 3.45 million. However, it’s not all bad news for Hololive. The agency still dominates the subscriber charts and social media, where Peko and Miko are rated in the top five in terms of social reach for all female content creators. With Hololive’s second generation of English stars getting off the ground and collaborations lined up for the tail-end of 2021, the VTuber trend is here to stay.

NIJISANJI files legal action against VTuber harassers and stalkers YouTube: Axia KroneNIJISANJI is putting their foot down when it comes to the harassment of their VTuber talent, with the agency’s dedicated task force handling 88 cases across 12 months since September 2021. This includes filing legal charges against harassers and stalkers. Harassment is everywhere in the online space, but companies are taking stances against it to protect their talents. VTuber agency NIJISANJI has taken that one step further with a task force dedicated to stopping offensive and defamatory content, including copyright and privacy infringement, stalking, or threats of such behavior. An announcement by NIJISANJI owners ANYCOLOR on October 14 pointed towards the task force handling 88 cases across 12 months to September 2022, including a handful of cases going to court. According to a translation by ‘Hikaru’, the task force tried to handle things outside of the legal system, including requesting people on social media to take down harmful content such as doxxing. Once those avenues were exhausted, some were taken to court. This includes one defamation case, which NIJISANJI is currently preparing for. The agency also mentioned “death threats, and other similar threats, that harm our talents will immediately be reported to police. Measures will be taken to prevent harm, such as setting up security around the talent.” NIJISANJI’s task force was created in September 2021 to stop harassment from boiling over in the community and protect their talents. Despite their efforts, some VTubers have taken hiatuses or graduated because of online vitriol, with Axia Krone being the most recent example. The company issued a statement following Axia Krone’s indefinite hiatus in August saying “if we confirm any acts of slander or defamation towards our Livers and determine these acts to be criminal or illegal in nature, we will accordingly take steps while consulting with our lawyers. “These steps may include filing a lawsuit and requesting disclosure of the sender’s information.”

These teams duke it out in the league phase across the first two days of the Koshien to determine who qualifies for the final. The final takes place on the third day to decide the champion. It saw ten head coaches draft a team of sixteen players from across Nijisanji’s various branches. The draft format saw each coach pick their player of choice for the first seven rounds and then randomly assigned Livers for the remaining nine rounds. The XSOLEIL star said she was not aware of the meaning of the word due to her cultural background. New NIJISANJI debut Kotoka Torahime, from the recent XSOLEIL VTuber wave, has apologized after she used an ableist slur on a recent broadcast. The star was pushing to reach 100,000 YouTube subscribers on the December 29 stream when she got angry in her ARK game: “What the f**k you suck. Seriously guys, come on. Can you not take turns to get out of the gate? You f**king r*tards.” The comments quickly circulated, with many expressing disappointment in the XSOLEIL member for using the ableist slur. She later apologized for using the language, saying she was not aware of the meaning due to her cultural background. “I’ve seen some posts about the words that I said in my prior stream,” she said. “I hope these words reach you because your words reached me. They really helped me understand what situation I was in. It made me realize and gave me knowledge about what mistake I made. “If you are around in my streams a lot, I am sometimes very unaware of the memes. I remember me not knowing some of the dirty puns or the Twitch words. I know how to speak the language, but I’m not up to date with the culture. “This is going to sound like I’m making excuses, but what I wanted to say was I was very unaware. I remember the word. I think I learned it through a friend, and the meaning of it is very different from the meaning people told me on the internet yesterday. “I want to make my stream enjoyable for everyone. I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, but I think I did, and I let people down. I wish I could go up to them, person by person, and say I’m sorry. But the situation wouldn’t be [made] right that way. “I think for some people it’s a little too late. I should have probably said it earlier, but I kind of passed out after that endurance stream. I only figured it out when I woke up and was checking everything. “I hope it reaches you — the post did reach me, so thank you so much for that. I will try my best to not mess up next time, if you do give me a next chance.” It comes after fellow NIJISANJI EN VTuber Enna Alouette apologized for making a racist remark on stream. She said she made an “insensitive and ignorant comment on a certain stereotype”, and called the controversy a “wake up call” to act more responsibly online. “Even though I had no malicious intent or anything, it was very wrong and 100% racist,” she said, reflecting on her actions in November. “I’m going to make sure I’m very mindful from now on [about] how I think, how I act, and what I say. Honestly, I’ve been treading on the bounds a lot throughout my career in NIJISANJI. This honestly was a wake up call, seriously.”

NIJISANJI’s Fulgur Ovid reassures fans Noctyx will live on after Yugo Asuma graduation YouTube: Fulgur Ovid / YouTube: Yugo AsumaNIJISANJI star Fulgur Ovid spoke out on his genmate Yugo Asuma’s graduation. The Noctyx quartet promises to keep together in his legacy, while asking people to give both NIJISANJI’s VTubers and their fans space to “grieve” his departure. Yugo Asuma’s shock graduation on December 14 sent waves through NIJISANJI and its English fanbase. It was the first departure from the VTuber agency’s English branch, with ANYCOLOR citing “many aspects of his activities and behavior as a Liver could not be accepted as a company” in their statement. The nature of the news devastated fans of Yugo Asuma, Noctyx, and NIJISANJI more broadly, but none felt the pain more than his genmates. There was an outpouring of support on social media for the remaining four members, including Fulgur Ovid. He was one of the first to speak up on Asuma’s graduation. With the rest of his genmates on holiday, entirely unplanned, he opened up to fans about the future of the group within NIJISANJI EN. “We’re devastated about Yugo’s graduation,” he said. “We are all going to miss Yugo Asuma, and the fact that he is not a part of Noctyx anymore is really f**king devastating. “Everyone in the community is hurting right now. Whether you were a Yuguy, a fan of Noctyx, a fan of NIJISANJI EN, or just a fan of NIJISANJI — this is a big moment for everyone.” Fulgur mentioned fans will deal with the news in their own way: either with anger at the decision, sadness at the loss, or otherwise. He said he had felt “touched” by the outpouring of support from everyone in the community, but especially other NIJISANJI EN members. The group knew about Yugo Asuma’s graduation before the December 14 announcement. However they didn’t know when the news would be dropped, and the suddenness of it blindsided the rest of Noctyx. “We have known about this for a little while,” Fulgur continued. “We had no idea when it was going to come. We had pretty much no time to prepare for the fact that it was dropping on Wednesday night. “The other three members of Noctyx, who are currently on holiday, did not plan their holidays to avoid this. I did not plan this zatsu to talk about this. This is just terrible timing, and that’s why you noticed so many NIJISANJI Livers who had things scheduled for around the time needed a break because it suddenly hit so hard. “A lot of us haven’t been sleeping properly, we’ve been feeling sick, the stress has been getting to us. But it was a surprise when it was announced, and we’re just doing our best to get through this and move forward.” Instead of being split apart by the news though, Fulgur has assured fans Yugo’s departure has, in some way, brought the remaining four closer together. They will miss some big milestones. Much like Tsukumo Sana’s graduation from Hololive earlier this year, Noctyx will not have a full five to celebrate their first anniversary in February 2023. They will miss all of the future collabs that were in the making, and one of their close friends. Knowing that time is short in this industry has only resolved them to cherish those moments even more, and give fans the full Noctyx experience even without Yugo’s presence. “Technically, Noctyx have been together for a full year already. Two months before we started streaming, we were already with each other everyday in Discord calls, trying to calm each other down about the fact we were going to be NIJISANJI Livers, trying to help each other through that stress, trying to guide each other through what kind of content creation we would do. “I do want to reassure the fans that want to see Noctyx that we will still be together. This isn’t going to scare us away from spending time with each other. “We miss Yugo too. But at the same time, we are going to be Noctyx. We were given other options. Me, Uki [Violeta], Alban [Knox], and Sonny [Brisko] could not see ourselves as anything else other than members of NIJISANJI’s Wave 5, Noctyx. There was no way we wanted to change that. “We’re not going to stop spending time with each other just because we’ve lost someone. We’re still going to be Noctyx with the four of us. If anything, this has brought us closer together. For the last amount of time, we’ve essentially been back in Discord every day like we were pre-debut because we’ve been so f**king stressed and trying to carry this and talking about what we do as we go forward. “We want to keep streaming together, we still care about each other so much, and we still are all very much caring about Yugo.” Fulgur had one last message for his DJ genmate: no matter what, he will always be a part of Noctyx, and they’ll be cheering him on no matter where he goes. “Yugo is moving forward, Yugo is going to find something else to do, and Yugo is an incredibly talented person. In the last year we’ve seen Yugo grow so much as a content creator, as a streamer, as a DJ — just in English, just in how they handle themselves. “We’re all just wishing Yugo well and hope he has a wonderful future, and we’re going to do our best to continue our story.”

NIJISANJI reveal new ILUNA EN VTuber group: Talents, debut dates NIJISANJINIJISANJI are continuing their expansion with more English talents in their all-new ILUNA VTuber group. The six new stars, part of a mixed-gender release, were revealed on July 19 with a relay debut later in the month. NIJISANJI’s growing yet again. After debuting a new all-male Japanese VTuber group in VOLTACTION last week, AnyColor’s VTuber agency is growing by six on the English side of operations with the all-new ILUNA group. The new group follows a high-school theme, with all six members a part of the ILUNA Institute of the Mythics. Each are imbued with certain magical skills which makes up the backbone of their lore — from being a reanimated doll (Maria Marionette) to an “angelic maiden who descended from heaven to observe mankind” (Aia Amare). Their names are: Kyo Kaneko, Maria Marionette, Aster Arcadia, Aia Amare, Ren Zotto, and Scarle Yonaguni. The teaser video, released on July 19, gives a little insight into each of the new VTubers and their personality with a short one-line quip. From the cheerful Kyo Kaneko to the rather seductive Scarle Yonaguni, there’s very different vibes across the board. NIJISANJI ILUNA VTuber debut dates NIJISANJI’s ILUNA VTuber group is set to debut later in July 2022. They will be doing so in a special program that goes live on July 24, 2022 at 5PM PT / 8PM ET. The special program will be co-hosted by fellow NIJISANJI EN members Selen Tatsuki and Alban Knox. Each of the individual ILUNA members will also be holding relay debut streams across the day. They are also releasing — in true NIJISANJI style — with a debut song produced by Japanese artist MATZ named Let’s Get It Started. Obviously if you can make your way to Makuhari Messe on October 1 and 2, 2022, it’s worth doing so with tickets available via a lottery and resale. The tickets cost anywhere between 50$ and 100$ USD. Alternatively there’s online sections of the event from September 30 to October 2. If you want to catch what’s happening on stage but can’t make it out — plus you want an archive of the stream for a few weeks afterward — you can pay for streams of each stage, ranging from 30$ to 50$ a day. The art of VTubing has been on the rise over the past few years, with streamers from both Twitch and YouTube getting involved by having a virtual model or character replace them on-screen. When it comes to VTubers on YouTube, the first agency that springs to mind for many fans is that of NIJISANJI. They’ve been around since 2018, working with over 200 stars across Japan, Korea, China, Indonesia, and the broader West. A number of their stars including Kuzuha and Kanae have managed to break through the YouTube milestone of having over 1 million subscribers, and they’ve now finally been joined by the agency’s first VTuber, Tsukino Mito. NIJISANJI’s Tsukino Mito finally breaks 1 million YouTube subscribers Mito managed to join the 1 million subscriber club on December 12, almost five years on from her debut with NIJISANJI. It’s taken her close to 1800 days to reach the massive milestone, which is quite the grind compared to peers like Hyakumantenbara Salome, who managed to do it in 13 days, and as well as English NIJISANJI member Vox Akuma. “Now, we have made 1 million people subscribe to the channel,” Mito said in her celebratory tweet. “Thank you so much for giving me such an interesting life!” Mito’s tweet about the milestone has blown up, with plenty of fellow VTubers and fans chiming in with messages of congratulations for the VTuber, including some peers from NIJISANJI and across other agencies. This included ANYCOLOR CEO Riku Tazumi, fellow NIJISANJI first gen liver Higuchi Kaede, as well as English members Vox Akuma, Luca Kaneshiro, Pomu Rainpuff, and Alban Knox. Many are looking forward to what she’ll do next and just how big she’ll be able to grow up. Regardless, her years of grind have finally paid off in a big way.

Nijisanji fans slam talents for “feeding the trolls” with controversial clapbacks NijisanjiTwo of Nijisanji’s male VTubers have come under fire for “feeding the trolls,” with fans believing they should have ignored critical comments rather than engage and potentially cause more issues. Since Selen Tatsuki had her contract terminated on February 5, 2024, it has been a difficult few weeks for Nijisanji and its parent company, Anycolor. Posting on her alt account, Selen alleged a “toxic environment,” that resulted in multiple attempts. The backlash from this was so severe that CEO Riku Tazumi made a statement promising changes to internal systems, though many felt this was undermined by the controversial response video posted on Elira Pendora’s channel that dismissed many of Selen’s claims. This chain of events inevitably saw trolls and critics alike attack Nijisanji over its perceived management of talents, with some even reaching out to the VTubers on social media. Up until now, the Livers had largely avoided publicly addressing this but that is no longer the case, and fans aren’t impressed. Nijisanji VTubers’ social media replies draw criticism Both Yu Q. Wilson and Uki Violeta posted controversial responses to critical comments and neither has gone down well in the wider Nijisanji community. Addressing these replies, one fan posted on the official Nijisanji Reddit, “Whoever told these guys they can cook needs to be fired,” encouraging Nijisanji’s other members to avoid following their lead. Wanting the talents to not cause further issues, one highly upvoted response stated, “Honestly, one thing they can learn here is some proper f**king PR 101. They are just refueling fire man.DO NOT engage with troll comments. You are just giving them ammo. IGNORE and BLOCK. Its just that.” Another equally irritated user replied, “Like seriously. a.) how tone deaf can you be when your organization has been accused of bullying its own employees and b.) don’t feed the trolls. He got baited plain and simple. He walked right into it and got absolutely wrecked.” The criticism continued with other upvoted responses including, “Bro, come on. I get that you want to keep your job and maybe don’t even think Niji was wrong, but the talents need to shut the f**k up if they want Niji to recover from this,” and, “they didn’t cook they burned the whole kitchen.” Uki Violeta’s comments have come under especially harsh criticism with both his critics and even other VTubers like Kirsche accusing him of “not-so-subtle racism,” an accusation that the Nijisanji member has yet to address. Before this latest controversy arose, Nijisanji had benefited from a relatively calm week with talents shying away from stating anything publicly. Also, the return of fan-favorite members Rosemi Lovelock and Finana Ryugu has been seen as a huge positive with their futures previously uncertain.

It’s no secret that several Nijisanji members have opted out of in 2023 but that doesn’t mean its the agency’s overall numbers are shrinking. While the likes of Mysta Rias and Nina Kosaka have moved on and Mika Melatika will join them before the end of the year, Nijisanji has debuted Idios, Orients, and Dytica in the Japanese branch and Krisis on the EN side. Now the successful VTuber company is looking to expand its ranks further with the introduction of three new Livers for EN fans to enjoy. A New Nijisanji EN VTuber wave is here Nijisanji EN has added three new talents to its roster: Claude Clawmark, Victoria Brightshield, and Kunai Nakasato. These three Livers will join forces to form the English branch’s ninth wave and first since Krisis debuted in June 2023. Unlike previous generations, the new wave is currently unnamed leaving fans to speculate. Nijisanji provided a snippet of each talent’s background to give fans an idea of what to expect: Claude Clawmark: “A cleric who studies magic while providing healing to visitors. Nijisanji EN VTuber defends controversial Play Button policy A member of Nijisanji EN has spoken out and defended the VTuber agency’s controversial policy on YouTube Play Buttons by insisting the talents can be sent one if they ask. For several years now, Nijisanji VTubers have claimed they are not sent Play Buttons by management, unique trophies given out by YouTube to celebrate subscriber milestones. These Play Buttons are kept at Anycolor’s office rather than being sent out to talents. Several former members have commented on this including Mysta Rias who expressed frustration that he had not received a Play Button despite passing one million subscribers. Equally, Dokibird admitted to only receiving her first Play Button in February 2024, insinuating that she never received one as Selen Tatsuki. This policy has proven controversial with fans believing the VTubers should be rewarded for their work. One particularly contentious point is that Nijisanji’s largest competitor Hololive does send out Play Buttons and has even shown a willingness to pay for multiple as was the case with Fuwamoco. Claude Clawmark claims members can ask for Play Button Having passed 100,000 subscribers, Nijisanji member Claude Clawmark celebrated his first Play Button expressing, “When I saw it in person, I was like, Oh my god yippee! Now it’s going to stay at the office next to all the other really cool buttons.” Addressing potential concerns on this topic, Claude continued, “I know there are some people who are like ‘Oh my god, how come the Livers can’t have their own button. How come they can’t take it home?’ and it’s like all right, dog, you know what? If we really wanted one, we could just f**king ask.” Claude then revealed why he is happy regardless: “I think the bigger thing for me, it’s really f**king cool the fact that I even have a button to begin with. First announced in the official trailer, Denauth is the next generation of VTubers joining Nijisanji. The new group features three new English-speaking talents: Klara Charmwood, Ryoma Barrenwort, and Twisty Amanozako. Denauth will reveal a new debut song called ‘Sugary, Spooky’, the first group song by Nijisanji EN since Noctyx’s ‘BREAK FREE’ in February 2022. It has been written and produced by Kento Nagatsuka, a Japanese vocalist for WONK. The two prior generations, Krisis and TTT, did not release debut songs, but Denauth brings back this tradition. In her scathing response, she accused the agency of harboring a “toxic and poor environment” which supposedly led to bullying for numerous months, leading her to be hospitalized. And amidst the allegations leveled against Nijisanji, they’ve since announced new merch, which has landed them in hot water for what many are calling “disrespectful” timing. Just 15 hours after Selen’s termination on February 6, Nijisanji announced new merch featuring six of their EN Livers. However, the announcement was immediately slammed by fans for its timing. “To call this disrespectful is an understatement,” commented CottontailVA, an independent VTuber. “This is extremely tone deaf,” wrote Abelia, another independent VTuber. “This just proves it’s just a regular day for Nijisanji, they acknowledge the amount of graduations and terminations they have is just a typical Monday and not even give a hot minute for Selen fans to grieve,” another commenter wrote. Other fans also pointed out that an EN Liver featured in the merch lineup, Kyo Kaneko, is graduating from the agency in just a week on February 17, becoming the first ILUNA member to leave. All this comes as Nijisanji sees a mass exodus of Livers leaving the agency over the past few months, with two of their longest-serving members, Chihiro Yuuki and Momo Azuchi, also graduating. Vezalius Bandage, Vantacrow Bringer, and Yu Q. Wilson are joining the agency’s ranks as part of Heroes EN on June 24, 2023. It’s the first all-male-presenting debut from NIJISANJI EN since Noctyx’s release in February 2022. Heroes EN is NIJISANJI’s first ever attempt at tying together generations across both their main branch and their English-speaking side. The company previously debuted the Japanese-speaking Oriens and Dytica groups in April 2023, representing Heroes of the East and Heroes of the West, respectively. Now yet another development has surfaced with one of ILUNA’s members graduating despite debuting just 18 months ago. The post confirms, “We hereby announce that the NIJISANJI EN Liver Kyo Kaneko will graduate on 17th February, 2023 JST. Thank you for your understanding and for your support of NIJISANJI and NIJISANJI EN.” The full notice continued, “After 17th February 2024 JST, Kyo Kaneko will cease all Liver activities, his YouTube membership will be stopped on 17th February JST after his graduation stream and the sale of merchandise and voice contents will be stopped gradually. Using her alt account, Dokibird, Selen Tatsuki responded on February 5 claiming her hospitalization was a direct cause of Nijisanji’s actions and even alleged the company was harboring a “toxic environment.” A week on, Nijisanji’s CEO has now spoken in a statement that addresses the concerns of fans and promises change is coming. Nijisanji CEO’s statement addresses fan concerns CEO Riku Tazami has addressed several criticisms of his company in a six-minute statement posted on the official Nijisanji EN YouTube channel. In this statement, the company’s CEO acknowledged several criticisms of Nijisanji and promised changes would be made to avoid a comparable situation in the future. Tazami opened up by addressing the controversial document that reassured investors Selen’s termination would have a “negligible impact,” on company finances. Explaining this decision, Tazami commented, “After announcing the termination of Selen’s contract, we received questions from investors regarding the impact this would have on company performance. The notice was published to respond to investors.” “In the notice, we unfortunately used the expression ‘negligible’ to describe performance impact. Our wording lacked consideration for the situation and caused Nijisanji EN fans and everyone who supports the VTuber industry to feel that ANYCOLOR Inc. undervalued the impact of Selen’s contract termination, or Selen herself,” he continued clarifying why the statement was made. Two more Nijisanji VTubers are graduating in 2024 In a Tweet posted on December 12, 2023, Nijisanji confirmed the graduation of two VTuber talents, Chihiro Yuuki and Momo Azuchi. The announcement reveals that the two talents will both graduate from Nijisanji on January 31, 2024, the same day that their Membership will also close. However, fans will be able to send fan letters to show their appreciation until February 23, 2024. Both VTubers are some of Nijisanji’s longest-serving members with Chihiro debuting in its First Generation and Momo as part of SEEDs. Debuting four months apart, these two VTubers have been creating content under the Nijisanji name since 2018. This makes them not only some of Nijisanji’s longest-serving members but also some of the oldest VTubers altogether. Following up on the announcement, Chihiro replied: “I feel really sorry for the first-year students and everyone who supported me. sorry. This is the result of a lot of thinking and thinking. I will work hard to achieve what I have always wanted to achieve. Chihiro was a happy person as she was loved by many people. The tournament would have seen members across all of the agency’s branches go head-to-head in the platforming battle royale game. Much like her new outfit competition, the Fall Guys tournament was entirely funded and organized by Selen. However, it turns out that the decision to go ahead with this tournament was not approved by Nijisanji. Selen Tatsuki ended up canceling the Fall Guys event after Nijisanji blocked her from making it or any future events international. Selen Tatsuki can’t host cross-branch Nijsanji events anymore Following the cancelation of the Fall Guys International Tournament, Selen Tatsuki stated that she is no longer able to organize international tournaments for Nijisanji. The announcing tweet reads: “I really apologize to announce this but unfortunately despite everything I tried to make it work, I will not be able to hold the Fall Guys tournament anymore and will not be able to organize any more international tournaments from here on out.” The dragon VTuber would then confirm that she is still allowed to “organize stuff within EN,” but not host tournaments that feature Nijisanji members across other branches. Many fans were confused by the statement, not understanding what had led to such an outcome. Looking to explain the situation, Selen later provided a statement near the end of her Apex Legends stream on August 8. She admitted: “I messed up earlier tweeting about my excitement and starting my plans of organizing the tournament as I assumed my old approvals for it was still a factor since I’ve been in discussion for it before the Puyo Tetris tournament. COLORS was originally meant to happen on April 8 and 9 in 2023, however, was ultimately canceled due to “schedule delays” and the global crisis, as such refunds were issued for those who purchased tickets. But now, almost exactly a year from when it was meant to happen, 2024’s event will be going ahead on April 14. The 3D AR performance will be split into two stages based on gender, the Pastel and Vivid stages. The following are the Liver performing and which stage they are in. NICKMERCS Wins Keemstar’s Friday Fortnite PC Tournament on a PS4 – Final Placements and Results One of the highest profile Fortnite competitions to date has been won by a PlayStation 4 player going up against the PC competitors. Popular personality and host of Drama Alert, Daniel ‘Keemstar’ Keem, hosted the tournament alongside UMG, with a $5,000 first place prize on offer for the winning duo. The names featured in the internet celebrity tournament included a wide variety of content creators and professional Fortnite players. Keemstar pulled out all the stops to get the biggest names involved, including members of Clout Gang, FaZe Clan, The Sidemen, OpTic Gaming, 100 Thieves plus a host of other names including Mr Beast, NetNobody, Logan Paul, GreekGod and a whole host more. Playing through a double elimination bracket, the tournament followed typical UMG Fortnite rules, which were created due to the lack of custom lobbies. Nightbot is a staple of many streamers thanks to its vast array of customization options, such as the ability to block certain terms, run giveaways, and be programmed to answer a series of commands like stream uptime. With so many streamers relying on this, many were surprised to see Nightbot had been briefly banned, meaning none of the moderation it was set up to do would work anymore. While it was one of the shortest Twitch bans you’ll ever see, it was definitely enough for some streamers to freak out after seeing Nightbot wasn’t doing its job. Why was Nightbot banned? NICKMERCS under fire for “anti-LGBTQ+” comment about Pride Month in schools Twitch: NICKMERCSPopular Twitch streamer and FaZe Clan co-owner Nick ‘NICKMERCS’ Kolcheff has come in for criticism, after suggesting that “little kids” should be left alone in regards to Pride Month being recognized in schools. On June 7, a tweet went viral showing a large brawl outside of a school. It’s widely reported that the incident was caused by a school board decision to acknowledge June as Pride Month. The brawl resulted in three arrests. Esports casting legend Puckett commented that the fight had taken place not far from where he used to live, and that “Americans are in a sad place right now. Let people love who they love and live your own life.” NICKMERCS responded to Puckett’s tweet, stating: “They should leave little children alone. That’s the real issue.” This response quickly sparked backlash, with some accusing NICKMERCS tweet of being hateful towards the LGBTQ+ community. Update, June 8, 1:30pm ET: Nick has since responded to the backlash, clarifying that he did not intend to upset anyone, and that he is particularly sensitive of the issues due to the recent birth of his child. Well, NICKMERCS is out to change all that, as he and his family have been directly and severely affected by PWS. His cousin, Marco Kolcheff, is a patient of PWS, and with there being no cure, he has to be under constant care. In a video published on Nick’s YouTube channel, the popular streamer offers a rare glimpse into his personal life away from the entertainment and gaming, as he, Marco, and several other key family members bravely opened up about how their lives have changed due to PWS. In the video, Nick explains that this charity stream will be the first installment of what he’s calling the ‘MFAM Project,’ a series of charity efforts that will raise money and inspire discussion about any difficulties and issues that he, his family, or his streaming community may be going through. “To keep it simple, it’s just a series of charity events that we’re going to be doing on stream,” he explained. “But I want to document it. As one of the biggest streamers on Twitch, the FaZe Clan superstar always brings in extra viewers when teaming up with other content creators, especially when it comes to the likes of Timthetatman and Cloakzy – two fellow Twitch giants who he plays up with on a daily basis. During a recent stream, Nick added a certain David Dobrik into the mix, and since the pair haven’t played much in the past, it was the perfect opportunity to “initiate” the YouTuber with some good ol’ tomfoolery. NICKMERCS teases “huge, huge move” amid YouTube’s latest Twitch poaching spree YouTube: NICKMERCSNick “NICKMERCS” Kolcheff looks set to drop a major bombshell on his streaming future soon, with the Call of Duty superstar teasing that he’s been working on a “huge, huge move” for his career right in the middle of YouTube’s latest high-profile Twitch poaching raids. Valkyrae, CouRage, Dr Disrespect, TimTheTatman, DrLupo: the list of Twitch stars defecting to YouTube — some voluntarily, others not so much — continues to grow. And now, it looks like NICKMERCS may join the exodus. The 30-year-old star didn’t name drop YouTube exactly, but he did tease “the biggest deal of [his] life,” which he had just recently inked up. The streamer’s hints come nearly two years after he put pen to paper on his original Twitch partnership, which understands was a two-year deal. “I can’t tell you guys too much, but I just signed the biggest deal of my life… the biggest deal,” he revealed on Sep. 2. “This is like, the kind of deal that’s not about you anymore. It’s about your family, your friends, all that sh*t, you know? “So, we’re making moves. Huge, huge moves.” NICKMERCS first joined Twitch — then called Justin TV — in late 2010. Since then, his popularity on the streaming platform has ballooned, and he now boasts 6.2 million followers, 69k subscribers, and regularly rakes in 50k concurrent viewers. There is, of course, every chance he still stays with Twitch too. Two years ago, when he signed on to appear exclusively on Twitch amid the original streaming wars, he described staying on one website as “very special.” “I’ve been streaming on Twitch for seven or eight years now, almost as long as it’s existed,” he said in 2019. “I’d love to be able to stay on one platform.
