How to make a Text post on TikTok Text posts on TikTok are now different from the typical videos with text overlay that we’ve seen for a little while now. You don’t have to include a video for these, but you can keep sounds and other things over the top. To post one, you just have to click the new post button at the bottom of the TikTok app like normal. Though, instead of recording or uploading a video, you scroll across to where it says Text. This will then bring up all the options to make a Text post, including different fonts, stickers, backgrounds, and where you want to place the text around the screen. So, there’s plenty of customization. Open up the TikTok app – Press the Plus button at the bottom of the screen to make a new post – Scroll left until you hit Text – Start to write out your message – Hit ‘post to feed’ to share it when you’re done! – If you post it to your feed, it acts like a normal TikTok clip in so much that it can pop up across other users’ FYP pages. It won’t just go to your followers if you choose that. These text-only posts can also be shared to your story, so it is another example of TikTok looking to muscle in on the space that Twitter and Instagram both operate in. How to do a TikTok audit If you think that your TikTok account, or somebody else’s for that matter, has been hit with fake followers, then you should run the account through an audit. TikTok doesn’t offer this on the app, but websites like HypeAuditor do. You just have to enter the account name in their toolbar and then wait for the report to complete. Once the report is done, you’ll get a score rating the account for quality. The higher the score, the better your account is, and more chance you have of having real followers. Head to HypeAuditor’s TikTok audit tool – Type in the name of the account you want to audit – Hit check – Wait until the report is generated – Now, other websites offer similar services where you can get more in-depth results, but they’ll charge for those services. If you just want to check how real your followers are, stick with the free tools. Given the fact that Twitch has had it for a while, it didn’t seem like a huge leap but nothing of note was made available for the longest time. Now, on January 28, 2021, YouTube finally decided to appease these fans and announced that a Clips feature was in development and that it was, at least partially, available now. While the company is currently restricting the feature to certain users and platforms, the steps you need to follow to actually clip something are pretty straight forward. Restrictions on clipping as of January 28, 2021 Currently, the clipping feature is in alpha, meaning it’s a bit restricted. Right now, it is only available for select creators, meaning only certain videos can clipped as of the time of writing. If you click on a video and there isn’t an option to clip, then the video isn’t clippable. In addition, there are going to be some general restrictions on what can be clipped, outside of the above limited release. According to YouTube, videos made for kids, live streams without DVR or over 8 hours long, and premieres that are still live can’t be clipped. As for the alpha, there’s no telling when YouTube will allow more people to jump into the program, although the company says they are hoping to make it available to everyone “soon”. How to claim TikTok data privacy settlement: Users entitled to share of $92m PixabayTikTok users in the US could be part of a class action settlement over the app’s use of data, which reached a total settlement of $92 million. Users who believe they are entitled can submit a claim form to confirm they are a member of the settlement class. The settlement also applies to TikTok’s previous version, Musica.ly, and any user of the app in the United States who used it prior to September 30, 2021. There is also a sub-class that applies only to Illinois residents, who used the app to create videos, who could be entitled to up to 6x the payment. “The Settlement, if approved, would provide $92,000,000 to pay the members of the Settlement Class who file valid claims,” the website for claims states. TikTok has reached a settlement in the case to avoid further legal proceedings, potentially more costly than the settlement amount: “The Settlement avoids the further cost and risk associated with continuing the lawsuits; it pays money to those persons whose rights Plaintiffs contend were violated; and it releases Defendants from further liability.” Am I eligible for TikTok data privacy settlement? To be a member of the Class, you must fall under one of these criteria: Nationwide Class: All persons who reside in the United States who used the App prior to September 30, 2021. – Illinois Subclass: All persons who reside in the State of Illinois and used the App in the State of Illinois to create videos prior to September 30, 2021. – You can submit a claim for yourself or on behalf of a minor who used the app by visiting the TikTok data privacy settlement website. How to capture clips on Mixer – the home of Shroud and Ninja streams Mixer is growing by the day, after securing exclusive deals with Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins and Michael ‘shroud’ Grzesiek, but not everybody will know to clip their favorite streamers on the new platform. Microsoft’s streaming alternative to Twitch has a lot of new eyes on it, after securing moves for two of the gaming world’s most popular live streamers. Ninja announced he would be making the move back in August and shroud also decided to switch over on October 24, claiming that he prefers the community vibe on the new platform already. With so many of their viewers presumably making the transition with them, there’s no doubt that the differences between the platforms will take some getting used to. One those features, of course, is clipping. How to clip on Mixer Previously, only Partnered streamers on Mixer had the ability to create their own clips. But that all changed on November 19, when Mixer announced in an update that they were giving Partnered streamers the option to allow viewers to clip. Partners will be able to grant all viewers the access to create clips, or grant only channel followers of certain rank that ability. Mixer are not opting to allow complete open access like Twitch in order to reduce the amount of “out-of-context or low-quality clips.” On a Partner’s stream, there should be a new clip icon, which looks just like the old one but with two stars inside of it. If your access is still restricted, a workaround still exists by acquiring the Google Chrome extension called NeatClip, which can be downloaded by using this link if you’re a Chrome user. Can you clip on Mixer using console? If you don’t want to use the extension, you’re also able to use the NeatClip website but that will make your life a lot harder as you’ll have to paste the entire video in, which makes it difficult to capture a certain moment. This will work for any video and not just Mixer so it’s a handy extension to have. One setback, though, for users who tend to watch their favorite streamers on Xbox One platform don’t have a clip option at all available to them. The new clipping experience that allows for viewers to create clips, if the streamer allows for it, also allows anyone creating clips to access the new trimming and titling features. Clips used to be automatically set to 30 seconds, but can now be altered to be as short as 15 seconds or as long as 60. Creators will have the option to rename or delete clips by viewers of their streams. If a broadcast is deleted, any subsequent clips from that broadcast will be deleted as well.
