This led him to release a song that ‘congratulated’ T-Series, while also throwing all sorts of shade at the same time. Somehow, this video helped PewDiePie not only reclaim the most subscriptions on YouTube, but also take back the top spot by a huge margin. PewDiePie’s “Congratulations” has proven to be such the hit that it has already surpassed rapper Post Malone’s song “Congratulations”, in ‘likes’ on YouTube. While this is an impressive feat, it’s made even more so by the fact that it has been available for a much shorter time than Post Malone’s version. Post Malone’s “Congratulations” has over 1 billion views on YouTube and is sitting at 5.5 million likes since its release on Jan 23, 2017. On the other hand, we have PewDiePie’s “Congratulations“, released on March 31, 2019, and has over 71 million views but comes in with 5.7 million, topping Post Malone. Obviously, you can’t really judge the quality of a song based on just the amount of likes it has on YouTube but this does prove PewDiePie reaches a large audience and you can never really count him out in the fight against T-Series. In “Congratulations” Pewds suggests the Indian music label got its start by using pirated songs and even mentioned T-Series CEO Bhushan Kumar’s sexual harassment allegations.

But he’s already amassed more than 600k followers and 3 million likes and left countless people in stitches in that time. His first post, which involved self-deprecating humor about him being a middle-aged man on TikTok, has been played more than 3 million times. But that was nothing compared to subsequent posts that have pulled numbers between 5 million and 8 million views. It’s no surprise, given his popularity on the show. However, the quality and hilarity of his content is the biggest factor. For example, his most viral video has a caption that says, ‘When you live in Hollywood, but they forget you’re from Philly.’ It starts with him bopping his head to a hip-hop beat and mime rapping, only to take a hilarious turn when his cat jumps on the kitchen counter. From there, his wife proceeds to call him out for making a TikTok video telling people that he’s from the hood and mocked him for going to a private school, and it ends with him begging her to be “more supportive” before trying it again “one more time.” There’s plenty of other amazing clips, too. His collaboration with Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington that showed the actor shaking his head while seeing his face on a slot machine at a casino in Las Vegas was also a smash hit. It’s the kind of content and humor that fans of the show hoped to see, and so far, he’s exceeded their expectations as TikTok’s new golden god.

In the case of Italian streamer ‘ilGabbrone,’ the outcome was decidedly negative. In mid-June, Gabbrone visited a cat café — a coffee or tea shop whose main draw is its feline staff (which, in many cases, are up for adoption) — but instead of a purr-worthy relaxing experience, a veritable ‘catastrophe’ happened instead. Gabbrone himself was also speaking loudly during his time at the café… resulting in one customer purportedly berating him for his behavior, as well as the fact that he was not wearing a mask while indoors. Seemingly as a result of this interaction, Garbbrone’s fanbase began calling the cafe’s phone line en masse to complain, which viewers can hear during the end of the YouTube re-upload of the stream. It wasn’t long before Gabbrone was asked to leave — but that wasn’t the only consequence of the IRL stream. The Italian-based broadcaster was banned from Twitch on June 21 in wake of the café catastrophe, prompting satisfaction from critics across social media. The cat café has also posted about the situation via their Instagram profile, claiming that Gabbrone’s fans purportedly review-bombed the establishment with a slew of negative comments. “Hitting in this way a small reality already brought to its knees (like many others) by the pandemic cannot be considered goliardic, but cruel,” the café wrote. The Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, is said to have reached out to Musk and Zuckerberg about staging the head-to-head at the landmark, which is one of the seven wonders of the world. Musk and Zuckerberg are both hoping to fight in the Colosseum Both of the eager fighters were excited about the idea. They reportedly passed on the message to Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White, whose people contacted the Italian Minister. The Colosseum has not hosted a big event, let alone a fight, in hundreds of years, and only a few hundred spectators can be seated in temporary seating within the theater. Italian authority says TikTok’s ‘personalized ads’ change could target children TikTokItalian authorities have responded to TikTok’s next batch of proposed changes coming into effect on July 13, urging them to reconsider their approach to personalized adverts. The Italian SA has sent a clear message to the developers of the popular video-sharing application, warning them that “explicit consent” would be needed for the tweak to be in line with European Union law. These changes will affect users across the EU, United Kingdom, and Switzerland. TikTok to change personalized ads on July 13 An explainer article on their website says: “TikTok is making a legal change to how it will use your on-TikTok activity to personalize your ads… “Historically, TikTok asked you for your “consent” to use your on-TikTok activity and off-TikTok activity to serve you personalized ads. From 13 July 2022 TikTok will rely on its “legitimate interests” as its legal basis to use on-TikTok activity to personalize the ads of users who are 18 or over.” TikTok has been notifying users over the age of 18 about upcoming changes to the privacy policy, though the legality of the decision is under question. Italy responds to TikTok privacy changes In an official statement, the Italian authority said: “In addition to the inadequate legal basis, an issue was of special concern to the Italian SA as related to the protection of child users that are registered with the platform. “According to the Italian SA, the difficulties currently encountered by TikTok in order to establish compliance with the age requirements to access the platform do not allow ruling out the risk that ‘personalized’ ads including unsuitable content will be served to very young users based on the company’s legitimate interest.” The statement was posted to the GPDP website – the Italian Data Protection Authority. It also said: “Therefore, the Italian SA relied on the powers conferred on it by the GDPR and sent a formal ‘warning’ to TikTok that processing data on the basis of its ‘legitimate interest’ would be in conflict with the current regulatory framework, at least with regard to the information stored in users’ devices, and would entail all the relevant consequences also in terms of corrective measures and fines.” Previously, TikTok had assured those under 18 years old that the changes will not affect them – though they can give their consent for personalized ads. When they do eventually turn 18, a number of other effects will kick into gear. As seen above, these will depend on whether the user has previously given consent to use their activity to serve personalized ads. Whether this warning from Italy’s authorities will have any effect on the implementation of TikTok’s proposed changes, or its timeline for rollout, remains to be seen.

On February 8, 2022, it was reported that the Island Boy’s home in Coral Springs, Florida had been raided by the authorities. The rappers themselves were not arrested, but one of their childhood friends left the scene in handcuffs. Authorities arrested one Andrew James Thomas on charges of first degree murder in a fatal drive-by shooting of an 8-year-old girl. Thomas was also booked on charges of “gun possession and violation of probation” for an unrelated robbery case, as per TMZ. The Island Boys’ manager, Dovi Bezner, spoke to the media regarding the situation, claiming that the rappers were unaware Thomas was a suspect in the shooting. According to Bezner, the Island Boys “just knew him as a quiet kid.” “He would come and hang out and do his thing and go back to whatever he got going on, but we had no clue about any of these allegations toward him,” Bezner said. “We just knew him as a good person, someone who grew up with the Island Boys.” “If we knew something like this was going on, we would have never allowed him on the property.” The Island Boys also told investigative reporter Terri Parker that Thomas had allegedly shown up at their home a few days prior to the arrest and “crashed on their couch.” According to police, Island Boy Alex Venegas had claimed that Thomas was running toward him down a hallway with a handgun when the SWAT team arrived. Venegas stated that Thomas had asked him to hide the weapon, but Venegas purportedly refused. Alex then claimed that he witnessed Thomas run into their laundry room and leave without the gun. Authorities claim they discovered the gun inside of a closet in the laundry room. On July 4, 2022, he went viral on social media after lighting fireworks inside of his bedroom, prompting a call to the firefighters. Now, the YouTuber wants to take a streaming break due to hate from viewers that he has been receiving since the clip went viral. iShowSpeed considering a stream break During his July 6 stream on YouTube, iShowSpeed began receiving hate from viewers in his chat spamming “common sense” as well as hateful messages read aloud through super chats. “Don’t light fireworks inside, it’s common sense,” they said. Speed said: “Whoever’s doing that sh*t, chill out bro. Seriously. Chill out, bro. Seriously stop, cause I’m not in the mood for that bro. IShowSpeed won’t receive YouTube ban after viral wardrobe malfunction Fans were extremely worried that their favorite streamer would receive a permanent ban from the platform, which prohibits “the depiction of clothed or unclothed genitals, breasts, or buttocks that are meant for sexual gratification,” including “the depiction of sexual acts, or fetishes that are meant for sexual gratification.” However, it looks like these fans can take a breather from their efforts in trying to convince YouTube to go easy on Speed. In his most recent IRL stream, IShowSpeed took out his brand-new, Ronaldo-emblazoned Lamborghini Huracan to show it off. During the stream, another driver set Speed off prompting the content creator to race the other driver. Wearing no seatbelt, IShowSpeed weaved through traffic and reached speeds exceeding 150 mph. Viewers of the stream have called out his recklessness and flamed him for endangering others. Throughout the stream, IShowSpeed made some decisions on the road that many took note of but it was just over the halfway point when another driver caught his attention. Screaming expletives, Speed took off on the highway and engaged them in a race. “You’re not gonna beat me in no f**king Acura,” Speed screeched as he took his Lamborghini to 154 miles per hour. As Speed rode around the city with both Griffins, they decided to stop by KFC to get some lunch, in which we get the wonderfully surreal image of IShowSpeed getting chicken with Peter and Lois (who is in a bikini and rollerblades). As the three conversed with each other ordering their food and eating, many of the store’s patrons and employees took an interest. Taking pictures with them and filming them as they ate their chicken. In an absolutely bizarre moment, the three broke into song, singing the Theme song of The Family Guy, with the crescendo ending in Speed doing a backflip to cap off their song. IShowSpeed was also among the few already confirmed to be playing after KSI promised him a spot if he completed 20 kickups — a challenge that he’d complete. While matching with others on Ome.tv, a website similar to Omegle, he heard a commotion and called his assistant to see what was going on. IShowSpeed threatens to quit YouYube after swatting During his stream on November 22, IShowSpeed was matching with people and chatting with fans when he removed his headset from one of his ears after hearing commotion outside. Speed quickly called his assistant, Slipz, and let users listen in to the conversation he was having with the police outside. While Slipz was talking with police, Speed became increasingly frustrated. “Yo what the f**k is happening bro?” he said. “There’s no way. I’m about to quit YouTube bruh, I can’t do this anymore.” Speed’s assistant took to Twitter/X to share his frustration as well. In the post, he simply shared a facepalm and middle finger emoji. It prompted comments from fans, who shared their distaste for whoever is swatting Speed. “This is not funny at all…” one user replied. From going to every single Portugal match in the 2022 World Cup, to typically donning a CR7 shirt on stream, and even giving him a shout-out when receiving a Streamy, he’s been a superfan for quite some time. But with EA FC 24 on the horizon, and with many player’s ratings starting to leak online, Speed was definitely not happy with Ronaldo’s leaked rating which appears much lower from last year’s. “I literally threw up,” said Speed upon looking at Ronaldo’s 2024 rating. “I just threw up in my mouth. That’s how f***ing disgusted I f***ing am right now. That’s so f***ing disgusting.” The leaked ratings come from DonkTrading, a Fifa Ultimate Team leaker, showing that Ronaldo’s overall rating has seemingly gone from 90 in Fifa 23 to 86 in EA FC 24. IShowSpeed threatened with felony after making emergency call During his July 23 live stream, the 18-year-old was shocked to his core after two police officers arrived at his home. Earlier in the same stream, Speed was told to dial 112, the emergency services number in the EU which redirects to 911 in the States, prompting the response from the police. The officers asked the YouTube star why he dialed the number, where he claimed that he had no idea the number is for the emergency services — explaining that his friend on PlayStation party chat told him to call the number. The officer then gave Speed a pretty stern warning, explaining that it’s on record that he was told by the police not to call 911 or 112 already, adding that it’s a felony of the fourth degree that could land him some jail time. “Listen to me loud and clear, I would be very careful calling three-digit numbers that your friends tell you to call,” said the officer. “There’s a thing called disruption of public service. All right?” “You can look up the advice code if you want. It’s a felony of the fourth degree that carries prison time. Does that make sense? Do you understand that? This isn’t a joking matter.” A felony of fourth degree can carry to up to 18 months of prison time, with a minimum sentence of six months. Those charged with a crime will also pay up to $5,000 in fines and spend up to five years on community control. In his live stream on October 3, Speed tried a science experiment in his own bedroom. The YouTube star attempted to make ‘devils toothpaste’ — which involves mixing Hydrogen Peroxide, yeast and dish soap to create a chemical reaction. However, it’s fair to say the experiment went horribly wrong, resulting in Speed struggling to breathe as smoke sfilled his room. Firefighters were called to his home, where according to a message in his chat from his own account, Speed was struggling to breathe and was receiving oxygen. “Speed is currently with the firefighters, they’re giving him oxygen so he can breathe, he should be fine guys,” the message read. These stickers are what caused Pinkydoll and other influencers to act as a kind of soundboard, giving a reaction based on what sticker they were sent. Pinkydoll revealed that this form of entertainment is wildly lucrative, and therefore, many others have hopped onto the bandwagon in the hopes of making some fast cash. One rather well-known streamer has also joined the NPC trend, making their very own livestream where they acted out various emojis. On September 21, his channel was hit with yet another strike. Although this time the reason is not yet clear. “No way I just woke up to a strike @TeamYouTube,” IShowSpeed tweeted. “This one felt very weird because what happened in this stream for me to get this.” Speed clarified that the ban was a result of his stream from two days prior, on September 19. In that stream, he played Fortnite, and reacted to Twitter and TikTok. However, at the end of the stream, he visited the site ‘Ome TV’ – a live chatting platform that cycles through random individuals on camera. These types of websites are banned on Twitch – but not explicitly so on YouTube. It could be the strike was caused by something that occurred during this segment of the stream, when Speed was chatting live to random users. YouTube rule also mentions “sharing personal information, or content that includes egregious insults based on personal attributes (such as protected group status or physical traits) is not allowed.” At one point, Speed asked a random user to use the n word, after they said they were black. The user responded “no, because I am Muslim.” Some have also speculated that it was because he was “trolled” into doing an offensive gesture. Team YouTube is yet to respond to Speed’s Twitter post.

We contacted StreamsCharts about the growth, and they confirmed to Dexerto that Speed’s follower count on Twitch has grown by 112k followers since he was unbanned from the platform. Not to mention, he hasn’t even gone live on the channel since being able to return to the site. With over 20 million subscribers on YouTube, there’s no doubt that Speed’s Twitch channel will grow much more if he decides to go live on the platform.
