  • Family files lawsuit after Texas student suspended for hairstyle – Dexerto

Family files lawsuit after Texas student suspended for hairstyle A family of a Texas student has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit after his school suspended him for his hairstyle. 17-year-old Darryl George is currently serving an in-school suspension since August 31 for allegedly violating his school’s dress code. The school’s officials revealed that he broke the code from his dreadlocks falling below his eyebrows and ear lobes. George’s mother, Darresha, has denied that her son violated any rules, considering he has twisted dreadlocks tied on the top of his head. In response, some people have declared the suspension violated the state’s recently enacted CROWN Act. Texas family denies teenager’s hairstyle violates dress code As first reported by AP News, the lawsuit claims Gov. Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton failed to protect George’s constitutional rights regarding discrimination and freedom of speech and expression. “George should be permitted to wear his hair in the manner in which he wears it… because the so-called neutral grooming policy has no close association with learning or safety and when applied, disproportionately impacts Black males,” the family’s attorney Allie Booker wrote. The family and their attorney also filed a formal complaint with the Texas Education Agency. The complaint alleged that school district officials mistreated George based on his hairstyle. It also claims that the school is forcing George to sit for eight hours on a stool. They also are allegedly preventing him from eating his free hot lunch. George’s mother revealed that she had been hospitalized for panic and anxiety attacks in response to her son’s suspension. The state’s CROWN Act stands for Create a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair. This was enacted to prevent race-based hair discrimination and schools and employers from punishing people according to their hairstyles. George’s school had told two Black male students to cut their dreadlocks in 2020. The two students’ families also sued the school district, a case which helped approve the CROWN Act.

  • Families fight at Disney World as photo-op ends in viral brawl – Dexerto

Families fight at Disney World as photo-op ends in viral brawl Twitter/ParkHoppinA family feud at Disney World turned into a massive brawl between multiple people thanks to a dispute over a photo-op. Disney World is sometimes referred to as the most magical place on earth, but the Florida location became the scene of a chaotic fight due to a disagreement over guests standing in front of the park’s sign. We’ve seen hundreds of viral melees at this point, ranging from grungy gas station brawls to the over-the-top burger joint brouhahas, but the last place you’d expect to encounter fisticuffs is on vacation with your family. Yet, that’s exactly what happened when a family refused to move so another could take a photo in front of the park’s 100th Anniversary sign to celebrate The Walt Disney Company. Massive Disney World brawl goes viral after photo-op argument According to Fox News, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office claimed that when one of the families was asked to move, punches were thrown, eventually leading to a scrap involving everyone at the scene. Footage of the melee posted to social media shows the two groups going at it, with plenty of cheap shots being exchanged in the process. At one point, after one man got hit straight in the jaw, another visitor in a white shirt pummeled him in the back of the head, eventually leading to a tackle and the parties taking their fight to the ground. The clip ends before any real damage could be done, but one of the family members needed medical treatment while two others were removed from the park. Despite the injury, the fighter didn’t want to press charges. It’s not clear if the family ended up getting their photo in front of the sign after all, but at least they’ll always have this viral brawl to look back on as a bonding moment.

  • Family feud turns into violent graveyard brawl with machetes and axes – Dexerto

Family feud turns into violent graveyard brawl with machetes and axes Twitter/South Wales PoliceA group of armed men turned a cemetery into a battleground after a family feud reached violent new levels. Footage of an over-the-top brawl between members of an extended family is going viral after the men attacked each other with machetes and axes. We all have at least one family member we don’t like, but 13 people from one family took things to the extreme in a cemetery after attending a graveside blessing. The brutal brawl took place in Morriston Cemetery in Swansea back in August of 2022, but footage of the fight has only just been released – and it’s definitely a melee for the ages. Armed men fight in cemetery as family feud goes extreme According to Sky News, a group of armed men showed up as members of both sides of the family were at the graveyard. The viral dashcam footage shows James Coffey inside of his van when a black Volkswagen collides with another car, resulting in him giving chase. A hammer-wielding man also joined the fray and launched a brick at his rivals before a large group of people with weapons turned the violence up a notch. Eventually, Coffey came back with blood gushing down his neck and drove off before eventually picking up combatants, one of which had a machete. Needless to say, not even Steve Harvey could referee this family feud. The brawl did not come without its consequences, however. 13 people were charged and 7 ended up being jailed as a result of the clash. “This was an absolutely appalling incident that would have terrified those in the cemetery in the middle of the day,” Detective Chief Inspector Mike Owens said. “The group, who are all known to each other, committed violent offenses in the middle of the cemetery and were seen using weapons against each other.” Owens added that this behavior “won’t be tolerated” and warned that anyone caught committing these acts “will face the consequence of their actions.” Amazingly, this isn’t the only viral brawl to shock the internet recently. Notably, a Taco Bell became violent when an employee hit female customers, and a restaurant chair fight got ugly when a group of girls started pistol-whipping a man.

  • Faker loses his cool and rage quits Jump King after massive fail – Dexerto

Faker loses his cool and rage quits Jump King after massive fail Nexile Games / Riot GamesLee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok might be known as one of the best League of Legends players in history with incredible mechanical prowess, but that skill hasn’t quite made the jump to Jump King, with the mid laner rage quitting the game after failing spectacularly. Faker is known in the League community for his seemingly unbreakable mental and his extraordinary mechanical skill. T1’s star mid laner has been at the top of his game since he made his competitive debut back in 2013, still racking up MVPs back home in Korea. However, his skills haven’t transferred to the notoriously difficult Jump King. The rage-inducing platformer has been the enemy of many streamers as of late, with many of Twitch’s most popular personalities spending days trying to complete it. Faker was playing the 2D platformer while waiting in queue for his League games on his January 27 stream, climbing up the tower trying to meet the “smokin’ hot babe” at the top. However, disaster struck as he was loading into game, with Jump King tabbing out towards the League client as the game was about to start. This cost the streamer a pretty nasty fall, but he could work himself back up. After tabbing back in though, things went from bad to worse, as the client tabbing out sent him into a bit of panic within Jump King. He failed four jumps in a row to fall down to the very bottom of the castle, almost back into the forest level, after being so close to the top. Every fall was met with an exacerbated sigh and a few Korean expletives. As his character laid flat on the forest floor, Faker decided that he had enough of the game, rage quitting and preparing for his impending League game. Read more: Is HAchubby joining OfflineTV? – Twitch chat was having a field day with the unkillable demon king’s reaction though, seeing a side to the League pro that not many have seen. His usually unbreakable mental shattered under the pressure of trying to climb up the Jump King tower, and he looked part-annoyed, part-furious. One could argue that his Jump King fail also impacted his League gameplay. Faker had an underwhelming game on Mordekaiser to finish off his stream with a 2/5/3 stat line in the heavy defeat. Given how much the platformer threw him off his game, it’s unlikely that we will see Faker complete Jump King any time soon.

The studio is working with producers at Kilter Films Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the minds behind HBO’s critically acclaimed series Westworld, Bethesda announced. Amazon has licensed the rights to the Fallout franchise, paving the way for a full series commitment from the entertainment giant. “Fallout is one of the greatest game series of all time… So we’re incredibly excited to partner with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics at Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive, and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios,” Joy and Nolan said in a joint statement. Kilter and Amazon have an overall deal that will see them bring multiple shows to the Prime Video service. The Fallout series is reportedly in the development stages. The world of Fallout and the miniature stories within the main campaigns of the titles give the producers a rich catalogue of lore and characters that could be integrated into series of their own. “Fallout is an iconic global franchise, with legions of fans worldwide and a rich, deeply compelling storyline that powers it. And Jonah and Lisa are the perfect storytellers to bring this series to life,” Chief Operating Officer and Co-Head of Television at Amazon Studio, Albert Cheng said. #PleaseStandBy. @AmazonStudios #KilterFilms pic.twitter.com/7YmLZKIPAe — Fallout (@Fallout) July 2, 2020 While the announcement confirms that a full show is in the works, Executive Producer at Bethesda Todd Howard has been looking to make a show on Fallout for quite some time. “Over the last decade, we looked at many ways to bring Fallout to the screen,” Howard said. “But it was clear from the moment I first spoke with Jonah and Lisa a few years ago, that they and the team at Kilter were the ones to do it right.” The name of the series is currently being referred to only as ‘Fallout,’ though that can change depending on the development of the show. Details for the upcoming series are scarce as the studio ended their brief announcement teaser with the test pattern that’s been synonymous with the Fallout series that reads: “Please stand by.”

Fake TikTok ‘skeleton brunch’ trend goes viral and fools everyone Twitter: Dr. Economy StonksTikTok is a hive for all sorts of viral trends and memes — but one of the most recent fads to take over the platform isn’t even real. Here’s what we know about ‘skeleton brunch.’ The term ‘skeleton brunch’ has been thrown around all across social media over the past few days. Originally, netizens thought the term referred to a trend where TikTokers would film themselves wearing skeleton masks while partaking in some tasty breakfast foods. Unfortunately, it’s not that simple. In fact, the meme never actually existed at all, and was completely manufactured for the lulz on Twitter. Viral ‘Skeleton Brunch’ meme explained The meme’s origins can be traced to Twitter user ‘bear_wrongdoer,’ who wrote a post using the term while comically “trying to think of a viral meme.” Read More: What is Harry Styles’ secret TikTok account? – The post immediately took off, sparking a slew of other viral responses using the phrase “skeleton brunch.” However, it was some clever photoshop that really brought the so-called ‘trend’ into the mainstream. Another comical Twitter user created a series of photoshopped headlines from existing publications like The New York Post and Insider warning parents of the “dangers” of the viral TikTok Skeleton Brunch trend. This appeared quite similar to other dangerous TikTok trends from the past, including the likes of the now-defunct Milk Crate Challenge and the Nutmeg Challenge. https://twitter.com/DoctorPenisBoob/status/1498320033721761794?s=20 While Twitter may have fooled the internet, it’s since been revealed that the entire thing was just a joke that went viral. The Photoshop master behind the fake headlines claimed that “manufacturing content” like this was surprisingly easy to do. “Took less than 23 hours since bear came up with it to force it into reality,” they said of the situation. “Twitter users undefeated.” https://twitter.com/DoctorPenisBoob/status/1498398583472762891?s=20 That isn’t to say you can’t have your own spooky skeleton brunch if you want – fake trends be darned! Viral “fake people” TikTok trend invents bizarre backstories for strangers TikTok: fakehumansofamericanuAs part of a viral TikTok trend, users are creating complex backstories for random strangers they film on their college campuses—but not everyone is a fan. As a hotspot for viral content on the internet, new trends are going viral on TikTok practically every day, with everything from dances to challenges, and more. But the latest strange trend to sweep the app has got people divided. In what some are referring to as the “fake people” trend, participants will film videos of strangers—more often than not without them knowing—walking about in public. They’ll then overlay some text on the video with details like a name, age, and random details about their lives with ideas about who they’re dating, where they’re from, what they study, etc. Click here if TikTok doesn’t load These details are all made up of course, and people try to get as creative as possible when it comes to inventing backstories for these random people. It is a particularly popular trend on college campuses, and entire accounts have sprung up dedicated to videos about people at specific universities. These videos can rack up millions of views and hundreds of thousands of likes, with commenters letting creators know how accurate they think their description is. Click here if TikTok doesn’t load However, not everyone is a total fan of the trend, with some people raising the issue of recording and uploading videos of people without their prior consent. “Why are you filming random people?” one comment reads, with another user calling it, “lame and judgemental.” Despite criticism, this trend is only continuing to gain traction on the platform as people come up with more specific and even crazier stories about people they’ve never met.

  • Fake Dream face reveal goes viral after Minecraft star denies racial slur accusations – Dexerto

Fake Dream face reveal goes viral after Minecraft star denies racial slur accusations YouTube: skeppyA ‘face reveal’ for Minecraft YouTuber Dream has gone viral amid ongoing drama surrounding the YouTube star and while some have been tricked by it, it’s actually fake. For many years, some YouTubers and Twitch streamers have decided to hide part of their identity, and let their gaming skills or impressive videos do the talking. Minecraft sensation Dream, who has racked up almost 20 million subscribers on YouTube and has a rabid fanbase across social media, is one such content creator, keeping parts of his identity hidden and being represented by a small stick figure-like character. On March 25, Dream hit back at viral claims that he’d used a racial slur on an old stream, claiming that the people in the video are just random guys and that people are attaching his name to it to smear his name. As that drama was trending on Twitter, he joined the Scuffed Podcast to talk about things, and as some faces popped up in his spot, fans immediately got ‘DREAM FACE REVEAL’ trending on Twitter, even though it’s fake. Just like other podcasts, the Scuffed Podcast has name tags for each guest that joins in so that viewers can know who is who if they’ve never heard of them previously. Dream, as ever, was displaying a random image instead of his face, but at one point, Minecraft YouTuber ‘Punz’ appeared in his spot, and some fans decided to run with the ‘face reveal’ posts on Twitter. • Fake IShowSpeed TikTok account is getting crazy viewership with old livestreams – Dexerto

Fake IShowSpeed TikTok account is getting crazy viewership with old livestreams YouTube/IShowSpeedA TikTok account impersonating YouTuber IShowSpeed is going viral, amassing a ton of viewers by restreaming old content. IShowSpeed has skyrocketed to the top of streamer stardom with over 20 million followers across a variety of platforms and that has resulted in some fakes popping up. Like with many influencers, users tend to take advantage of their image by creating accounts reposting old content, but one has taken things to the next level judging by the incredible viewership. On August 19, an IShowSpeed fan account reported that on TikTok, an impersonater was generating over 18,000 concurrent viewers by rebroadcasting old VODs. Fake IShowSpeed TikTok account gets over 18K concurrent viewers The VOD in question showed Speed playing Roblox and while 18K is a fraction of what the streamer normally has on YouTube, the fact an impersonator can pick up such a huge vieweship definitely raises some eyebrows. Fans of Speed were mixed by the restream with some saying these broadcasts are actually good, because they help grow his brand. Others even respected the impersonator. “Respect the hustle bro he might be making bag,” one commented. At the time of writing, there are at least two IShowSpeed restreams on TikTok, both generating over 2,000 viewers. It’s clear that many users are taking advantage of Speed’s growing popularity. So far, Speed hasn’t responded to the fake accounts or if he’ll be taking action. The streamer took another step towards becoming a household name last week when he made international headlines by accidentally flashing viewers during a live broadcast.

  • Fake Cristiano Ronaldo TikTok fools everyone before ban & now there’s a Messi copycat – Dexerto

Fake Cristiano Ronaldo TikTok fools everyone before ban & now there’s a Messi copycat YouTube: Al-Nassr/WikiMedia CommonsA fake Cristiano Ronaldo account has, finally, been banned by TikTok after becoming one of the fastest-growing profiles on the app ever. And now a Lionel Messi profile is trying to replicate it. TikTok might have started out as a platform solely for creatives and artists, but it has grown into something that plenty of social media users have to check out on a daily basis. It’s become another outlet to share their daily lives and goings on, and, of course, celebrities are also getting involved. Whenever a new celebrity joins up and embraces a meme about themselves, their follower count usually shoots up massively. We’ve seen celebrities get to over 1 million followers within their first day, however, a Cristiano Ronaldo imposter had everyone fooled – including TikTok themselves too – as it became the fastest-growing account ever. Fake Cristiano Ronaldo TikTok success leads to Messi copycat The account – named cristianoronaldo_nassrfc. – first appeared on TikTok on September 26. It began uploading highlights from the Portuguese superstar’s games in Saudi Arabia. There were also videos of the imposter meeting fans intermixed with those highlights, making it seem like the real deal. A majority of videos shot up above 10 million views as the account’s follower number jumped to over 6.3 million. However, as NoahGlennCarter pointed out, the account has since been terminated after it’s massive success. The impersonation, plus uploading copyrighted highlights, probably made it pretty easy for TikTok to shut it down. However, it did appear that the account was being heavily pushed. Naturally, there has also been an attempt from a Lionel Messi imposter too. That is aptly named LeoMessi_CFMiami, but it hasn’t garnered millions of followers like the Ronaldo one. That account has followed suit, posting two clips of highlights from Messi’s games at Inter Miami. It has only picked up 100,000 followers, but has already been called out as fake by viewers. It likely won’t be long before that is banned either. The clue for these accounts being fake should be the name – high-profile stars are hardly going to have teams in their usernames. So, just be wary before hitting follow on them.

  • Fake Drake TikTok fools everyone with bootleg merch scam – Dexerto

Fake Drake TikTok fools everyone with bootleg merch scam YouTube: Sundae ConversationMusic superstar Drake has become the latest celebrity to be used on TikTok as a way to scam fans into buying unofficial merch, and many are urging others to be careful. As TikTok has grown to become one of the biggest social media platforms out there, plenty of celebrities have gotten involved. Some have only dipped their toe in, posting one video and then not posting again, but some have gotten incredibly involved with trends and memes. Naturally, as mainstream names become more involved, some tricksters take it upon themselves to try and use their names in order to get one over on some unsuspecting fans. We’ve seen it in the past with Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and others, but now it is the turn of Drake as the Canadian music superstar has become the latest victim of a spoof TikTok account trying to scam fans. Fake Drake TikTok finally banned after selling bootleg merch The account ‘champaignpapi44’ popped up in late January and, like all of the other spoofs before it, started using clips from Drake’s actual social media profiles to create a bit of credibility. Naturally, some fans bought in and the account quickly amassed close to 200,000 followers and was even verified by TikTok itself. That popularity, though, saw the account turn into a scam attempt – adding links to buy merch and claiming that you could get an autograph from the ‘God’s Plan’ rapper himself. It was quickly called out, however, by the likes of Noah Glenn Carter and others. “How do these accounts keep getting verified?” asked one fan, with many others noting that they’d seen it and believed it to be real at first. The account has since been terminated by TikTok, but nothing is stopping other attempts from popping up in its place. Despite the verification, the numbers in the username – and the incorrect spelling of his champagnepapi handle – should be a dead giveaway to it being fake. If you have ordered anything from the account’s links, you’re probably not going to receive anything or if you do, it’s hardly going to be the same as official merchandise. So, just be warned.

The biggest things I love are that ‘Squads’ grants opportunities like playing video games with me, getting a flight to visit me, and a personalized one that I came up with is giving ringside tickets to people who want to attend my boxing matches.” “I don’t really get involved in projects that I personally don’t believe in. I haven’t seen an app that does the same job like this one, and if there are other apps, ‘Squads’ does a better job as it keeps you genuinely connected with your supporters. So please stay tuned for this new app. I’m proud of what we have!” Faith Ordway is an extraordinarily positive and driven spirit whose work on TikTok exists as a surface to the ambitious content creator. With the “Squads” app on the horizon, Faith preparing for her first real boxing match, and her life on TikTok just beginning, we’re thrilled to see where she goes next.

In one of the first posts, Corinna shared a message from someone saying she deleted her account on Telegram and had “no intention” to pay them back. She replied: “The amount of messages I get like this on the daily is very concerning… if I don’t message you from this account only, it is not me. I’m not on Telegram nor Whatsapp, nor any email or phone number. “This account only, please don’t get scammed.” Someone responded to that post, saying that they saw a post on Reddit from someone convinced that he’s engaged to Corinna. “He posted an AI video someone sent to him of you telling him how much you love him,” they said. Corinna posted the video to her stories, alongside the caption “A Masterpiece.” “I don’t like how you are leaving me online like that. I told you that I lost my purse with all of my information and you did not talk anything,” the AI video said. “We are going to see each other soon I promise you that.” This is just the latest time a well-known name was used to ‘scam’ unsuspecting fans. Back in March, an AI video scam of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau resulted in someone reportedly losing $12K.

On December 30, Bryce joined Twitch streamer Tommy Unold for a hot tub stream, and they invited Faith to join too. However, before the stream even began, Faith left, with Bryce claiming she was upset over a “salty remark” he made. Faith later claimed that he had been pressuring her to kiss him on stream, and called her a “p**sy” when she said she didn’t want to. She was also angered when Bryce used an image of her kissing him on the cheek for his YouTube thumbnail. Bryce hit back, writing on Twitter: “Welcome to clout season; it’s when the lying women like Faith Ordway try to create a false narrative to boost their ‘career’.” Faith Ordway responds to Bryce Hall After Bryce even suggested in a TikTok video that Ordway’s claims could amount to “defamation of character,” and hinted at legal action, she responded in a series of videos, also posted on TikTok. In the first video, she calls the actions of both Tommy and Bryce “disgusting,” reiterating that just because she and Bryce had a history, it did not mean she consented to anything being on camera. “Consent once does not mean consent anytime,” she captioned the video. https://www.tiktok.com/@faithordway7/video/7048760878354713902?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id6891233912640226822 In her final video, Faith is in tears, and says she will be taking a break from the internet. “You’re all bad people, and you’re going to get bad karma, and I’m not a bad person, I know what happened. She revealed that the leaks involving Sketch hadn’t changed her opinion of him at all. Ordway clarified that she hadn’t intended to give a “deep-dive” on the situation but she was prompted to by her followers. “I feel like it should already be known what my thoughts are,” She began. “I have no opinion. • Facebook reveals plan to get Gen Z users back – Dexerto

Facebook reveals plan to get Gen Z users back Elliot Reyna/UnsplashDespite having been created by college students, Facebook is now the go-to social media app for older generations. But the platform now wants to change this and become more appealing to Gen Z. For the past decade, Facebook has become known as the “boomer and Gen X” social media platform, as the younger Millenials and Gen Z tend to prefer apps like Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok. But now, Facebook has revealed their plans to change this and make their own platform more desirable for younger users. At an event in New York City on May 31, 2024, Facebook execs presented their strategy for ensuring the “next 20 years” of Facebook, which included how they were planning to make themself more desirable to the younger generations, Mashable reported. Facebook President Tom Alison said: “We’re still for everyone, but we also recognize that in order to stay relevant, we have to build for… Gen Z.” He continued: “We noticed… this is the time in [Gen Z’s] life when they start making a lot of huge transitions: moving, going to college, getting their first job, getting their first apartment, finding a romantic partner… They want a way to explore their new interests and they want to find real people and real experts who share them. And that’s where we think Facebook comes in.” Alison then went on to explain how Facebook could be beneficial to Gen Z, whether it’s finding great deals on furniture on Marketplace, exploring their interests with Reels and in Groups, connecting with their local communities and small businesses, or finding someone they like on Facebook Dating. He also revealed that they’ve updated their Reels and Feed ranking technologies to improve the recommendations they send users. They are also hoping to grow the Facebook Reels feature, just like Instagram and YouTube have since the rise of TikTok. In a separate blog post outlining the strategy, Facebook said it hoped to “have the world’s best recommendation technology” by 2026 and that it was introducing updates to its video recommendation algorithm that will deliver more clips “more effectively” to user feeds. They also claimed that Meta’s recent focus on AI would help the platform appeal to Gen Z thanks to the AI features being “fun, engaging, and helpful.”

  • Facebook reportedly paying for smear campaign against TikTok over “dangerous” trends – Dexerto

Facebook reportedly paying for smear campaign against TikTok over “dangerous” trends TikTok/FacebookFacebook are reportedly paying a huge consulting firm to run a smear campaign against popular video app TikTok, calling it “a threat to American children.” TikTok has become one of the most popular apps on the planet in recent years, with small creators all the way up to global corporations sharing content on the platform in order to boost their social footprint. While TikTok has faced controversy in the past — with threats of it even being banned by the former United States president — it is being reported that Facebook is working to make matters worse for the ByteDance-owned app. Targeted Victory, a consulting firm that works extensively within the United States’ political spectrum, has reportedly been called upon by Facebook parent company Meta to boost messages besmirching TikTok as a threat, due to “dangerous” viral trends. As reported by The Washington Post, Facebook’s campaign against TikTok includes “planting Meta-approved op-eds in major regional news outlets from ‘concerned parents,’ promoting dubious stories about ‘TikTok trends,’ and pushing to draw political reporters, politicians into the fight,” explained reporter Taylor Lorenz. Read More: Top 20 most followed TikTok accounts – “We need to get the message out that while Meta is the current punching bag, TikTok is the real threat especially as a foreign-owned app that is #1 in sharing data that young teens are using,” one member of staff reportedly said. The firm allegedly worked to amplify negative TikTok coverage with links to dubious local news stories citing TikTok as the origin of dangerous teen trends, which partners were encouraged to replicate in their own markets. Emails obtained by the Post show how “the firm has effectively promoted its anti-TikTok messaging without revealing that it came from a firm working on Meta’s behalf. None of the op-eds or letters to the editor were published with any indication that the Meta-funded group had been involved.” The report also suggests that many of the TikTok trends deemed “dangerous” actually originated on Facebook. A TikTok spokesperson told The Washington Post that they are “deeply concerned” about “the stoking of local media reports on alleged trends that have not been found on the platform.” Targeted Victory responds Dexerto has since received a statement from Targeted Victory CEO Zac Moffatt. It said: “Targeted Victory’s corporate practice manages bipartisan teams on behalf of our clients. It is public knowledge we have worked with Meta for several years and we are proud of the work we have done.” In a Twitter thread, the chief also claimed The Washington Post’s story “mischaracterized” the work they do. He tweeted: “Today’s Washington Post story not only mischaracterizes the work we do, but key points are simply false. We tried to reach out to The Washington Post to further talk through them, but never got a response.” We are a right-of-center firm, but the teams we manage bipartisan teams, including the ones mentioned in the article—also both authors are Democrats. Here is our full statement—omitted by The Post: 2/ — Zac Moffatt (@ZacMoffatt) March 30, 2022 Moffatt claims that the original story omitted a statement he provided, too – reposting it to Twitter in a string of seven messages. “The story infers that the words of the letters to the editor were not the authors’ own, nor did they know of Meta’s involvement,” Moffatt continued. “That is false. They will confirm that. We had hoped to not have them included in this manufactured story out of respect for their personal privacy.” Dexerto will continue to update this story as it develops.

  • Facebook respond to Amouranth Instagram blackmail accusations – Dexerto

Facebook respond to Amouranth Instagram blackmail accusations Instagram: AmouranthFacebook have responded to accusations made by Kaitlyn ‘Amouranth’ Siragusa who alleged that someone is removing her Instagram pictures in an attempt to blackmail her. Amouranth is a popular Twitch streamer and online model who uses her Instagram account to promote herself to her audience, however, she claims she has run into some serious issues with the platform dating back to June 1. In an interview with the Huffington Post, the 24-year-old stated that someone who claimed to work at Cognizant, a firm hired to perform content moderation for Facebook, of using the alias ‘Tampa’, had been removing her posts, and then asking her to send them around $2,600 every month to stop taking down her pictures. ‘Tampa’ was also aware of some of Instagram’s inner workings, such as a 14-day restriction period for accounts who have breached their Community Guidelines which Facebook later confirmed to be accurate, and according to the streamer was able to inform her of the times at which her pictures were taken down from the site 600Facebook have now responded to the accusations made by Amouranth, with the Twitch streamer claiming that her management were told in a 20-minute call with the social media giants that her posts had been removed for being “inapproptiate and sexually suggestive.” In a statement given by Facebook to the Huffington Post, they say that no employee at Cognizant removed her Instagram pictures, but rather that their “proactive artificial intelligence technology” flagged them as unsuitable for the site. “We take accusations like this very seriously,” the statement reads. “We investigated this matter and did not find any evidence of abuse.” 600The identity of ‘Tampa’ is unknown, but it is possible that the emails were part of a scam attempting to take advantage of the removal of Amouranth’s posts from the social media platform, with no affiliation to Facebook, Instagram, or Cognizant. Huffington Post reached out to both Cognizant and ‘Tampa’ for comment, with the company declining to address the situation any further, while receiving no response from the accused. • Facebook Gaming testing ad breaks and donation features to compete with Twitch & YouTube – Dexerto

Facebook Gaming testing ad breaks and donation features to compete with Twitch & YouTube Respawn EntertainmentFacebook Gaming is making a major step forward in its efforts to compete alongside Twitch, YouTube and other platforms for their share of the livestreaming market, with the introduction of long-awaited monetization features. The new features will include the ability for streamers to run mid-roll ad breaks during a stream, as well as use ‘stars’, the donation system on Facebook Gaming, for VOD content. Twitch has generally led the way in terms of innovation for monetizing livestreams, but is outshone in the VOD department by YouTube, and perhaps Facebook Gaming too. “Many gaming creators know us as a livestreaming platform,” the announcement explains, “but VODs (videos on-demand) are very popular on Facebook, and obviously for gaming at large. We’re increasing our focus on gaming VOD to give creators the tools and support they need for making awesome content on Facebook Gaming. “We want to invest in helping gaming creators take advantage of the resources Facebook can provide to help their content reach as many people as possible, whether it’s live or on-demand.” What are Stars on Facebook Gaming? Viewers on FB Gaming can already use Stars for live content, which works as a donation system, akin to Twitch’s ‘Bits’. Moving forward, Stars will be enabled for VOD content. Creators will be able to set a Stars goal on a video, and they can then respond individually or in batches to thank viewers who have sent Stars. 10 Stars are free, 45 Stars cost $0.99, and 145 cost $2.99. Creators receive $0.01 for every star received, so a 500-star donation is equivalent to $5 for the creator. Stars on VOD is currently being tested with a select ‘pilot’ group of creators, before being rolled out fully. Ad breaks come to Facebook Gaming Facebook has also announced that they are adding functionality for streamers to take an ad break. This too is still in the testing phase currently. “We’re testing Live Breaks, a new form of mid-roll ads for gaming creators in our partner program to earn money and keep viewers entertained while taking a short break. Live Breaks are manually-triggered 30-, 90-, or 150-second mid-roll ad breaks that incorporate a mixture of standard mid-roll video ads and creator-generated or viewer-generated content such as highlights and clips of amazing plays or curated calls to action for your viewers. Calls to action could include anything from videos to educate your audience about Stars and Fan Subs, or calls to join your Facebook Group.” At first, Live Breaks will only be available to a select group of partners, before rolling out after the test phase. Facebook Gaming is also expanding its ‘Level Up’ program, which is effectively a tier below partner on the platform. It allows creators to start earning from their content, even if they’re not a partnered streamer. Level Up is now available in nine more countries: Hong Kong, Kenya, Nigeria, Norway, Paraguay, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Ukraine, and Venezuela.

  • Facebook introducing Meta Verified for $12 a month – Dexerto

Facebook introducing Meta Verified for $12 a month MetaFacebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has announced Meta Verified, a system similar to Twitter verification, that will be available to users for $12 a month. Tech insider Marques Brownlee, or MKBHD to many, shared the message with his audience on February 19. At first glance, this service seems to operate nearly identically to Twitter’s new verification feature and aims to help protect users from similar threats. The price tag attached to it is relatively expensive, and MKBHD has raised concern over whether or not Meta is in for a familiar social media storm. Facebook rolling out ‘Meta Verified’ this week Brownlee shared the entirety of Zuckerberg’s message, which explains what Meta hopes to achieve with this new system. “New product announcement: this week, we’re starting to roll out Meta Verified, a subscription service that lets you verify your account with a government ID, get a blue badge, get extra impersonation protection against accounts claiming to be you, and get direct access to customer support,” the announcement revealed. “This new feature is about increasing authenticity and security across our services. Meta Verified starts at $11.99 / month on the web or $14.99 / month on iOS.” This comes in the wake of months of controversy over Twitter’s decision to lock account verification behind a paywall. Brownlee pointed out that history could repeat itself with the other major social media player. “12 bucks a month to be verified on Facebook… I wonder if people will keep that same Twitter Blue outrage energy?” he asked. The response has been mild so far, but we will have the latest updates if things start to kick up in the days after this announcement. The last line of the statement revealed that Meta Verified will be rolling out in Australia and New Zealand this week, with other countries “coming soon.”

  • Facebook Gaming reinstates THINND after ex-partner’s abuse allegations withdrawn – Dexerto

Facebook Gaming reinstates THINND after ex-partner’s abuse allegations withdrawn Instagram: THINNDFacebook Gaming suspended one of the platform’s biggest partners, Michael ‘THINND’ McMahon, after his ex-partner alleged he abused her while living together. After an investigation found no wrongdoing and the accusations were withdrawn, THINND has been reinstated as a partner. THINND has over 900,000 followers on Facebook Gaming, racking up hundreds of thousands of viewers every stream. He was also one of the first streamers to be partnered on the platform. However, his career was put on hold after allegations he abused his partner while living together arose on June 21, 2020. His ex-partner Theresa ‘Luxeum’ Nheap claimed THINND would lash out at her, before turning on his stream and acting in a completely different manner in an attempt to “save face.” She also claimed that THINND pressured her to have sex with him in an attempt to “solve” the problem. Facebook Gaming opened an investigation into the accusations, stating they did not condone the alleged behavior and suspended THINND while the investigation was ongoing. However that investigation has since wrapped, with the Facebook Gaming partner being absolved of any wrongdoings and his suspension lifted. Luxeum also publicly withdrew her claims against THINND. She claimed things were taken out of context and added there was no sexual or physical abuse at any time during their relationship. “My post was primarily about my opinions or feelings regarding what occurred during our relationship and was not meant to be taken out of context or for anything to be read further into the post,” she said in February 2022 in a court filing which has been provided to Dexerto. “We both said harmful things to each other and have since moved on.” THINND denied the allegations leveled against him from day one. He instead claimed that that she placed “undue financial burden” on him and was only trying to help her. “The accuser would take my credit card without my knowledge or permission and spend it on shopping, food delivery, and multiple other personal items to treat themselves,” he claimed. He also said that “there was absolutely no physical abuse” and that he “tried [his] best to help” her receive support for mental health issues. It comes after dozens of people have come forward in June 2020 detailing their own experiences of abuse from prominent figures within the gaming community. Tom ‘Syndicate’ Cassell and CS:GO caster Henry ‘HenryG’ Greer are two of the biggest names to be implicated. It has also prompted platforms like Twitch to come out and address the allegations. The Facebook Gaming competitor made a statement saying they’re “committed to working to make the streaming community safer for everyone.” Update (July 24, 2022): This story has been updated with new information following a court case which led to all allegations against THINND being dropped. He has since been reinstated as a partner with Facebook Gaming.

  • Facebook Gaming takes aim at Twitch by making streamers insane offer – Dexerto

Facebook Gaming takes aim at Twitch by making streamers insane offer Twitch / Facebook Gaming / Unsplash.com: Stanley LiFacebook Gaming has made an offer some Twitch streamers might not be able to refuse, with a limited-time deal. No matter where you choose to stream, fans have the ability to support you via channel subscriptions. When viewers subscribe to you, you receive roughly half of what they paid and in return, your viewers get ad-free viewing and your personal emotes. Knowing that Twitch offers creators 50% of the cost of subscribers, Facebook gaming has taken aim at the platform with an insane special offer. FB is offering a 100% revenue cut for streamers when subscriptions are purchased with Facebook Pay, and until the end of 2021, up to $20 extra with a maximum payment of $10,000. Facebook takes aim at Twitch In a blog post, published on November 3, the tech giant shared their new idea of helping streamers grow their subscription businesses. Facebook Gaming is now offering an invite-only program that gives users a bonus on top of their subscription revenue. “Facebook will pay creators a bonus of $5 – $20 for every new subscriber they get from now until the end of 2021. “This new bonus program is part of the company’s commitment to invest over $1 billion in creators through 2022,” the company explained. “Creators can earn a bonus of up to $10,000 over the course of the program. It’s invite-only in all 27 markets where the Subscriptions feature is available to creators.” It goes on to explain that even though they have an ongoing system that gives streamers a full revenue cut from subs, those that are purchased on a mobile device automatically lose 15-30% of their revenue due to the mobile platform taking a cut. To combat this issue, they have enabled a special portal that allows mobile users to directly pay for subs to their favorite creators — meaning streamers can now get full revenue cut from subscriptions made by mobile users just by sharing a promotional link in their chat. While Facebook Gaming is far from being the top dog of live-streaming platforms, this will go some way in building their profile in the space.

  • Facebook Gaming ends partnership with Jeff Leach and NitroLukeDX as streamers feud – Dexerto

Facebook Gaming ends partnership with Jeff Leach and NitroLukeDX as streamers feud Facebook: Jeff Leach / NitroLukeDXFacebook streamers Jeff Leach and NitroLukeDX have lost their partnerships on Facebook Gaming, following a spat between the two broadcasters which brought up various clips from streams including sexist language. Leach, a comedian, streamer, and the voice actor for Ghost in Call of Duty, was accused of sexism in a Twitter thread posted by NitroLukeDX, which included clips from his stream. Leach responded by arguing the clips were out of context, and that it was an assassination of character by NitroLukeDX. He also said that his lawyers were “already on his case” and that it could be the “end” for NitroLukeDX. Following the accusations made by NitroLukeDX, Jeff Leach tagged Facebook Gaming in a tweet with a clip of his rival streamer making a joke about a viewer’s mother. Facebook Gaming ends partnership On May 12, Facebook confirmed to Dexerto that they have ended their partnership with both streamers. A Facebook company spokesperson said, “We expect our Facebook Gaming partners to model a high standard of conduct. As of today, we have ended our contract with Jeff Leach and terminated his partner status with Facebook Gaming. We’ve done the same with NitroLukeDX due to his behavior on prior streams.” Now, instead of their profiles showing “Partner”, it displays that both are “members of the Facebook Gaming Level Up program.” The Level Up program is a sort of ‘entry’ level status on the platform, intended for “emerging streamers.” Leach was dropped by three key sponsors also; Sneak Energy, Team Kitchen, and AimControllers. Activision said that they are no longer working with Leach following his comments, primarily made against Twitch streamer Natalie ‘ZombiUnicorn’ Casanova. Jeff Leach was banned from Twitch in 2017, allegedly because of his comments about Casanova, which break the community guidelines. However, during a May 7 stream, he claimed that he was actually only banned because Casanova was dating a member of Twitch staff. Casanova told Dexerto that they have never dated any Twitch staff member.

‘Face glitch’ trend goes viral on TikTok as bizarre phenomenon mocked TikTok: yeeyeehoeperiodt / Unsplash: Alexander ShatovSome TikTok users have been left baffled by the sudden influx of people jokingly claiming their faces ‘glitched,’ and they all seem to stem from one user who claimed the bizarre phenomenon happened to them for real. When something weird happens to someone on camera, the number one place people go to share their bizarre findings with the internet is, more often than not, TikTok. The app is the center of viral content on the internet right now, and with such a huge userbase, it doesn’t take long for the weirdest things to go viral. In November, TikTok user yeeyeehoeperiodt went viral after they posted a video claiming their face had ‘glitched,’ changing facial expressions impossibly fast. Click here if TikTok doesn’t load The video, which currently has over one million likes, was met with a decidedly mixed response from viewers. While there were some who wondered what possibly could have caused the phenomenon, others were not at all convinced by the video, claiming the creator had edited it. “He just felt like lying today, and that’s okay,” one comment with over 150,000 likes read. Read More: What is the ‘miso soup’ TikTok sound? – The user went on to upload a screen recording of the editing process to prove that it was just one clip, but many still weren’t convinced. Click here if TikTok doesn’t load While some have been confused about the sudden influx of videos all claiming their facial expressions “glitched,” others have cited yeeyeehoeperiodt’s video as the source of the trend. This isn’t the first time TikTok has decided to collectively parody a viral video. In October, users were quick to make their own versions of the insanely popular ‘couch guy’ video that saw a girl surprise her boyfriend at college.

  • Facebook cut ties with white streamer after he claims to identify as black – Dexerto

Facebook cut ties with white streamer after he claims to identify as black Facebook: jbanfieldFacebook has cut ties with livestreamer Jerry Banfield who announced that they identified as a black man while on stream, despite actually being white. During Black History Month, Banfield went live on Facebook and decided to share the announcement. “Major new announcement that I’m very excited about today,” he told his viewers. “Today I’m grateful I have the courage to do something I wanted to do for a very long time. For years I’ve wanted to be black, I’m tired of being white… “Let’s just get to the point: I am now identifying as a black man. As an African American. I no longer wish to be identified as a white man… That’s not who I am anymore. I’ve been wanting to make that change for a long time.” Shortly after the livestream on Wednesday, February 16, Facebook Gaming acknowledged the incident and spoke out about Banfield, claiming that they have “cut ties with the creator in question.” They added that Banfield had been removed from their official programs, including monetization features, with immediate effect. Thank you to everyone who alerted us to a livestream this morning which ran counter to the spirit of Black History Month. We have cut ties with the creator in question, removing them from our official programs, including access to monetization features, effective today. — Facebook Gaming (@FacebookGaming) February 16, 2022 The streamer made several responses on his Facebook page, though since deleted, frustrated by how Facebook had treated him. In one post, he revealed that he had been demonetized, saying that “we live in a world where we are free to change genders and therefore this must apply to race as well.” In another post, he questioned Facebook Gaming referring to his announcement as ‘hate speech’. “Which part exactly [is hate speech]?” he asked. “The simple fact is that denying anyone the ability to self identify as any race they choose and denying them to celebrate all the related holidays is discrimination.” In a follow-up comment, he stated that “The only way this makes sense is if I am not allowed to define myself as black because of my current skin tone which by definition is discrimination.” Banfield’s Facebook page itself is still up at the time of writing, but needless to say, many are upset by the comments he made already. Whether he seeks an opportunity to continue monetizing his content on another platform, however, remains to be seen..

Tfue has been clipped during streams on a few occasions flirting with Instagram model Corinna Kopf – who was recently spotted cozying up to Logan at a baseball game. Having first brought the pro player’s name into conversation during his latest edition of the Impaulsive Podcast, the popular YouTuber couldn’t contain his laughter when the guys jokingly asked him about his relationship status. “I don’t get how they find people bro” Logan said, after FaZe Rug explained how he joined the clan. “Like, uh, that guy Tfue. How did they find this guy and now he’s one of the biggest on Twitch. He’s so fucking good.” After the panel talked of their admiration for Tfue’s Fortnite skills, with Rug saying he’s one of the best in the world, things quickly switched away from gaming as they seemed to joke about how Corinna Kopf is now Logan’s girlfriend. “I feel like he could get any girl, bro. He’s slick” Mike said, before Logan Paul breaking into laughter. Check out the conversation at the 12 minute mark in the video below. The podcast host turned away from the camera for a few moments, with the curious panel’s questions about his current situation left unanswered. Despite talking to Tfue on streams and being spotted with Logan Paul on a number of occasions, Corinna Kopf declared herself as “single as fuck” in late December, 2018. Whether or not her situation has changed since then is unclear, but if Logan is dating the model right now, he seems pretty smug about it. How will these comments go down with Tfue?

  • FaZe Ewok celebrates gift from Ninja with ‘Pon Pon Dance’ – Dexerto

FaZe Ewok celebrates gift from Ninja with ‘Pon Pon Dance’ Instagram : EwOkfn / YouTube: Jimmy FallonFortnite player Soleil ‘EwOk’ Wheeler was so happy after receiving a gift from fellow streamer Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins that she broke out his iconic ‘Pon Pon’ dance to show her appreciation. Back in August, the 28-year-old revealed that he had partnered up with sportswear giants Adidas as part of a new sponsorship deal, and since then has been sending out gifts of Ninja-branded Adidas apparel to content creators and friends. FaZe Clan’s EwOk became the last popular personality to get her hands on some sick Ninja merch, revealing that the Mixer streamer had sent her a jacket, and celebrating in the only way she knew how. The Pon-Pon became a huge part of Ninja’s streams when he first transitioned into battle royale games, standing up and performing the dance in between matches or after securing wins back on H1Z1. While he doesn’t break it out that often anymore, it’s still widely recognized as Ninja’s signature move, so after opening the gift on stream, EwOk decided there was only one thing to do. In a tweet sent from her Twitter account on Thursday, September 5, the 13-year-old thanked Ninja for the jacket he had sent her, before launching into her own rendition of the Pon-Pon. Thanks @Ninja for the awesome jacket! I opened it on stream today and did a pon pon:rolling_on_the_floor_laughing:! :love_you_gesture: pic.twitter.com/vvGgxcuzyu — FaZe EwOk (@Ewok) September 5, 2019 EwOk has become a star in the Fortnite community, become the first female to join FaZe Clan, while showing off her insane talents at Fortnite. What makes her accomplishments even more impressive is the fact that she is deaf, and after receiving a host from Tim ‘Timthetatman’ Betar, has skyrocketed up the Twitch charts and remained as one of the game’s brightest stars ever since. Both her skill and infectous positivity brings viewers to her stream in thousands, but whether we’ll ever see her hit the dance move again remains to be seen. It could just be a one time thing, but who knows, maybe if Ninja keeps sending Adidas gear, EwOk will keep the Pon Pon going.

  • FaZe Censor explains how his pricey new car was actually a bargain – Dexerto

FaZe Censor explains how his pricey new car was actually a bargain FaZe Censor, YouTube/InstagramFaZe Clan’s Call of Duty professional player unveiled his new ride during a video he uploaded to his YouTube channel on June 23, giving fans not just an idea of how it looks, why he bought it, and also hinted at his plans for the future too. While it’s not exactly brand new, he managed to pick it up with a 2019 registration plate, an impressively low number of miles, and for a snip of what the original price would be it if just left the showroom. 600“I came in there and he gave me a price. I ended up only playing $44,000 for a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I got a third of the price off just because another guy decided to take the car, drive it around for two months and take it back in,” he said during the video. The original price of the SRT model vehicle, if purchased directly from Jeep, would be around $68,000 – according to the companies website. According to the YouTuber, the previous owner decided to take it back to the dealership to upgrade to the Trackhawk model, a step up from the SRT, and that car is available from $86,000 – depending on the specifications choices. (Timestamp at 2:46 in the video below) Censor was clearly delighted to have come across such a good deal and it was made even cheaper after he traded in his 2015 Chrysler 300, contributing a further $14,500 towards the deal, making the actual financing price just $29,500 for the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT. Pointing out its main selling points, he said: “I really wanted a car where I could be sitting up higher when I’m driving because, I love the Chrysler, but I just don’t like being low.” He also says that the purchase is very much for the long-term as well, after revealing some of his future plans in the video. “I’m at that point in my life guys where I still want to compete in Call of Duty full-time, still want to win championships, I want to expand into acting after I do Call of Duty. I still want to be a gamer, livestreamer, YouTuber, vlogger,” he says. “But, I do want to become a father by the time I’m 30.” Censor went on to describe his new ride as the “perfect cool dad car” as he walked viewers through some more of the Jeep’s interesting specifications.

  • FaZe Banks surprises girlfriend Alissa Violet with $100,000 car – Dexerto

FaZe Banks surprises girlfriend Alissa Violet with $100,000 car FaZe Banks / YouTubePopular YouTuber and actress Alissa Violet broke down to tears after FaZe Clan‘s Ricky Banks surprised her with the car of her dreams. FaZe Banks posted a video to his YouTube channel on April 7, where he told viewers that he had a “big surprise” coming up for his girlfriend and there’s no way she could have seen it coming. Reason being, she was told to close her eyes until they drove to the location of the big reveal. FaZe Banks had help from The CarBiz to make it all possible. While the pair sat in the back of the car, Banks said: “Close your eyes, trust me please,” but it took a few minutes before Violet did eventually close them. At one point she joked about it feeling like a kidnapping, but once they arrived it was clear that it was nothing of the sort. After keeping her eyes for a few moments, Banks helped his girlfriend out of the car and told her to turn around – where a brand new Range Rover was waiting for her, with a huge bow on top. “Shut up… You’re lying!” she said in excitement, but just moments later she broke down to tears – clearly taken back by the gesture from the YouTube star. (You can see the start of Range Rover reveal at 11:35 in the video below) “I don’t deserve this. Oh my god,” she said before taking a look inside. Violet joked that she was going to “pee” on her boyfriend later, sealing a memorable moment for the couple. The CarBiz, an up and coming YouTuber, worked with Banks to pull off this epic surprise by handing over the car to them for free – which could be worth $100,000 or more if price statistics from U.S. News for similar models are to be believed. They say: “The base price for the Range Rover is well above average for its class, coming in at $89,160. The top of the line model is one of the most expensive in the segment at $208,200, which is more than $80,000 more than the average luxury large SUV.” Read More: Top 20 most subscribed YouTube channels – Banks is starting to make gifting videos a regular thing, too, after surprising a 13-year old Fortnite pro H1ghsky with a celebrity meet-up on March 31. • FaZe Adapt Finally Makes the 50 Foot Reservoir Jump – Dexerto

FaZe Adapt Finally Makes the 50 Foot Reservoir Jump FaZe Adapt- YouTube, FaZe ClanWhen FaZe Clan pro player ‘Tfue’ made his move to the Fortnite team house, he and FaZe CEO ‘Temperrr’ made a near 50 foot jump off the side of what they called the ‘Reservoir.’ However, FaZe ‘Adapt’ was too scared to make the jump along with them. He made two attempts at the feat before retreating, frustrated that his fear held him back. Now, he’s finally done it – with a little help from his teammates. A large group of the FaZe Clan members made their way down to the Reservoir to take the plunge, all of them with cameras in tow. Adapt waited until everyone else had jumped before he made his move forward, and for a moment, it seemed that he would take a pass once again. Although one in the group assured Adapt that he was a lifeguard, he continued to stall, despite his teammate’s encouragement. He hung onto the guard rail, cursing himself for not following through – much to the FaZe Clan’s amusement. “Dude, that shit doesn’t look good! …I’m shaking. Fuck this!” The squad stepped in with a word of encouragement, telling Adapt to take inspiration from JackAss’s Steve-O. While Adapt appeared to brush off the statement, he couldn’t allow himself to fail a third time and finally stepped off the edge. He seemed to black out halfway down, asking his teammates, “Did I do it?” after resurfacing. He appeared to be just fine following the jump, stating that it was ‘easy’ in comparison to the long swim to shore. “I was just thinking… no way is this gonna get posted again and I’m gonna do this again. Even more people were gonna call me a pussy.” Adapt made the leap and conquered his fears – and even got a workout in the process.

The reports that Tfue had filed legal proceedings against the organization he represents sent the internet into overdrive, as Tfue stating that FaZe take 80% of revenue from branded videos on his social media channels, and that the organization is jeopardizing the health, safety and welfare of its members. In response to the suit, FaZe founder Banks has appeared on Daniel ‘KEEMSTAR’ Keem’s Drama Alert to share his side of the story, and also released a video of his own titled “Dear Tfue” to address the claims made by the Fortnite pro player, and to reveal the emotional toll the lawsuit is having on him. FaZe Banks “heartbroken”by Tfue lawsuit, won’t forgive him In an emotional video from FaZe Banks, the founder of the legendary esports organization stated that he knew the lawsuit “wasn’t aimed” at him, but he is crushed by the situation, and doesn’t think he’ll ever be able to forgive Tfue. “I thought we were friends. I called you family. I know this isn’t aimed at me,” an emotional Banks told Tfue. “But this is me. I know I am the last person you meant to hurt by this, but you hurt me more than fucking anyone has, ever. “FaZe Clan has changed so many people’s lives, and you just spit on it and stomped on it. You took everything you could from it, you sucked it clean of everything you could get from it, and then you threw it in the trash, and how dare you. “I’ve never been done this dirty by a homie. A homie that I helped, a homie that I changed their whole fucking life. “I’ll never forgive you for this homie. Never.” Clip begins at 17:15 for mobile users. FaZe Banks disputes Tfue’s claims Throughout both his interview with KEEMSTAR and his public address to Tfue, Banks disputed a number of claims made in the lawsuit brought by Tfue, stating that FaZe Clan don’t take 80% of his revenue, and have only ever made $60,000 from their partnership with the Twitch star. Banks also used a number of clips to fire back at other claims made by Tfue, including shots of the streamer attempting to convince Alex ‘Adapt’ Pinkevich to jump off of a reservoir in California, using this to hit back at the idea that he was forced to perform dangerous stunts. Since news of the lawsuit becoming public, Tfue has refrained from releasing a statement addressing the controversy, but it’s seems almost certain that fans of the streamer and the organization have not heard the last of this situation.

F1 driver Pierre Gasly’s gaming setup is out of this world Instagram: Pierre Gasly / RS SimulationIt’s a well-known fact that most of the younger Formula 1 drivers are avid gamers. After all, race simulators are an important part of their training regime. However, Pierre Gasly might be the biggest gamer of them all — at least if his insane gaming setup is anything to go by. Like all masters of their craft, Formula 1 drivers need to dedicate a lot of time and effort to hone their skills and stay sharp week-in, week-out. Fortunately, racing simulators have proven to be a powerful low-risk tool to assist the younger generation with their training and development. But that’s not the only reason why do it. They like to have a bit of fun, too. Charles Leclerc, George Russell, and Lando Norris all stream on Twitch from time to time. They’re also huge fans of esports racing in general. Lando even has his own esports organization. However, Pierre Gasly is passionate about gaming too. Although he might not have as big of a following as them on Twitch, it seems like he might have the best gaming setup thanks to an insane race simulator created by RS Simulation. View this post on Instagram Gasly’s personal racing simulator was fully customized to match the design of the helmet he was wearing when he won Monza 2020. It has shades of white and navy mixed with orange and even includes his car number. In terms of features, it has three panels, a carbon Formula 1 steering wheel, real racing pedals, a carbon racing seat, and a force feedback motor, all connected on a tubular steel frame. To top it off, it’s surrounded by a ring of neon lights to add a sense of atmosphere. RS Simulation has designed racing simulators for other drivers, including Nico Hulkenberg, Nico Rosberg, and Romain Grosjean. They all look incredible, too. However, there’s no denying that Gasly’s gaming setup is the most unique. And considering he just finished in third place at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, it seems like he’s been putting it to good use.

Streamer tier lists are not uncommon on Twitch, but there was a slight twist for this one from ExtraEmily. The content creator went live with Nick ‘Nmplol’ Polom and decided to rank the funniest streamers out there right now, using printed photographs that featured the likes of Pokimane to TimTheTatman. However, it wasn’t just top streamers in the running, and not all of them liked where they placed. Twitch streamer furious at ExtraEmily’s tier list During a stream on February 8, OTK’s newest member ExtraEmily had already put Tim and Amouranth in the B tier. Equally, a few were pushed down into the D and F zone, humbling one streamer in particular: jakenbakeLIVE. I want a revote!” Jake was not the only streamer to be placed in the bottom positions on Emily’s tier list, either. Here is how the final list shaped up, below. During the broadcast, Emily also said Pokimane is worthy of a top-end spot for being funny. “I like Poki. I see her clips on Twitter and stuff. That’s why I’m going to put her in B.” After the raging response to placing in last, Jakenbake was taken off the list and replaced by Michael ‘shroud’ Grzesiek. It’s all fun and games, so make of that what you will.

Extremely Fungible Tokens ‘mocks’ NFTs with free-to-use profile pictures Extremely Fungible TokensA website by the name of ‘Extremely Fungible Tokens’ has gone viral on social media for ‘mocking’ NFTs by offering completely free images for fans to use as profile pictures. Throughout the past year, Non-Fungible Tokens have gained viral popularity on the internet as projects like Bored Ape Yacht Club and Cryptopunks have become worth millions of dollars. The new-age technology has also been met with its fair share of distaste due to the alleged environmental impact, occasional misleading artwork, and the rising amount of NFT “scams.” A popular style of NFT projects is ‘PFPs,’ or profile pictures, which are commonly used by buyers as their display pictures on social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram. A new project called ‘Extremely Fungible Tokens’ has gone viral on Twitter and is looking to provide similar style PFPs without having to support NFT projects. Extremely Fungible Tokens “mocks” NFTs Created by TheRealSullyG as an “anti-NFT” movement, they provide a very basic website. • Eye-popping Twitch stats reveal how popular Just Chatting has become – Dexerto

Eye-popping Twitch stats reveal how popular Just Chatting has become Over the past year, Just Chatting watched hours on Twitch have grown over 2600%, reaching heights the directory has never seen before. When people think of Twitch, names like Tfue, and formally both shroud and Ninja, come to mind, but there’s a whole lot outside of gaming that takes place on Twitch. Gaming does dominate the landscape, but Just Chatting, a spot where streamers are able to do things like talk to their viewers, dance, or even sing, has been growing exponentially. According to SullyGnome, a Twitch statistics and analytics website, watched hours in the Just Chatting section are over 697 million hours, an increase of 2608% over the past 365 days. To put that in perspective, GTA 5 has the second-highest growth in the same timeframe, with an increase of 249.9% hours watched. No matter which way you slice it, that’s a massive increase and shows that Twitch has a foothold in areas outside of just gaming. Of course, this number wouldn’t be as high as it is without the streamers for viewers to watch. Kaitlyn ‘Amouranth’ Siragusa has proven to have strong staying power in the Just Chatting section, even after being banned due to a wardrobe malfunction. In fact, Amouranth became the fastest-growing streamer on Twitch when her ban was up, proving that her temporary departure from the platform was actually a blessing in disguise. Of course, Amouranth isn’t the only big Just Chatting streamer, but she is the most popular by far. Some other notable names in the directory include Knut, Greekgodx, Trainwreckstv, RajjPatel, and that’s just scratching the surface. According to SullyGnome, Just Chatting has been the third most-watched category in the past year, trailing only Fortnite and League of Legends. While other games have risen in popularity but have since tapered off to more modest numbers, Teamfight Tactics and Apex Legends as examples, Just Chatting has proven it belongs in the upper echelon. Whether the Just Chatting section is able to keep up its blazing hot growth remains to be seen. Even if the rate of growth drops off by 1000%, it’ll still be far and away the fastest-growing part of Twitch.

ExtraEmily and xQc had a couple of run-ins and collabs over the course of the current year. Such as when ExtraEmily elbow dropped a cake meant for xQc after finding out Love or Host was just “for content.” The mentioned live stream show hosted by AutinShow on Twitch was the genesis for many of their other interactions and mixing of their fanbases. On her April 19 livestream, ExtraEmily was convinced by her viewers to call Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel, with some chat members joking “he misses you.” After mulling it over for a couple of minutes Emily decided to call him on Discord with a devious prank in mind, but it quickly backfired when xQc one-upped her. ExtraEmily calls xQc but it does not go as planned ExtraEmily picked up a suggestion to call xQc, ask if he wants to play Devour, and then say “Devour these nuts.” When she did just that Felix taunted and questioned “Is that the best you got?” Before stating that he was playing a game of “Mabona.” Confused by his question, Emily immediately asked what that is, to which xQc replied: “My balls bit**es”. After the humourous exchange, Emily wished X a nice day and thanked him for picking up before hanging up erupting into laughter in disbelief that xQc actually picked up her call in the first place. The pair have proven to be comedic whenever they link up, so its no shock that fans want more of them as a duo.

  • ExtraEmily wants to visit Mizkif’s house instead of $50,000 prize: “I don’t want the money” – Dexerto

ExtraEmily wants to visit Mizkif’s house instead of $50,000 prize: “I don’t want the money” Twitch: Mizkif, ExtraEmilyEmily ‘ExtraEmily’ Zhang, the winner of Mizkif’s trivia gameshow ‘Schooled’, has asked to trade the $50,000 in for an even more special prize — meeting the streamer and going to his house. After a drama-filled final finale ExtraEmily was declared winner of Mizkif’s second season of ‘Schooled’ after original victor EEvisu confessed to cheating his way through the final, which has caused a furore amongst viewers and streamers. However, instead of taking the prize money, apparently Emily wanted a different prize from Mizkif, with the streamer opening up on her response on stream on April 27. “I called her right after EE apologized, well he didn’t apologize. I called her right after EE admitted he cheated,” she said. Talking through the conversation, Mizkif said he congratulated Emily on winning to hear her respond “yeah, wow oh, no way he cheated that’s so sad.” Responding in typical fashion the host continued “cut the crap you won the money.” However, ExtraEmily refused the money instead asking to head to Mizkif’s house. “Oh, I don’t want the money. Instead, can I just come over?” Seeing the potentially savvy nature of this move, the OTK member and ‘Schooled’ host replied: “Oh, okay you want long term on this. You don’t want short term you want long term on this.” Mizkif initially made it clear it was a literal go big or go (to his) home moment, saying: “It’s one or the other here we don’t do both offers” This lead ExtraEmily to finish their chat with “oh yeah no I’d rather come over, for sure! I wanna come over.” At the end of it, it seems like Emily will be able to have her cake and eat it too. “Nah she gets the fifty thousand, and I told her she could come over,” Mizkif concluded.

  • ExtraEmily wins OTK Schooled after original winner EEvisu admits cheating – Dexerto

ExtraEmily wins OTK Schooled after original winner EEvisu admits cheating Twitch: Mizkif: EEvisu: TwitterStreamer ‘EEvisu’ has apologized to fans after admitting to cheating during Mizkif’s OTK Schooled game show. As a result, he was denounced as the winner and the crown was given to his fellow creator Emily ‘ExtraEmily.’ OTK’s Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?-style show ‘Schooled’ has been a particular favorite among Mizkif’s viewers since the team started the show in April 2021. A number of famous streamers have appeared in the series and faced one another to answer tough general knowledge questions. However, the show has since been wrought with several cheating scandals. It all proved too much for Mizkif on April 26 after Smash caster EEvisu was crowned the winner of OTK Schooled Season 2 and walked away with $50,000, only to be called out for cheating. EEvisu has since apologized for the incident saying he “did succumb to a bit of temptation” and sent his best to the “real” winner ExtraEmily. EEvisu apologizes for cheating Following on from being crowned the winner of OTK Schooled’s Season 2, EEvisu was later called out for cheating by viewers after he was spotted using his phone to peek at the answer to the final question “who wrote the social contract?” In a video uploaded to Twitter, EEvisu stated that he had resolved everything with OTK and that he was sorry for the issue. He explained that a friend of his saw that he was struggling so sent him the answer to the question and he “succumbed to temptation.” “I did get the answer sent to me,” the streamer said. “I apologize. It was one of those things where you’re just like so close to the end you know you’ve done a pretty good job, you just succumb. I succumbed. I admit it. I’m sorry about that.” Sorry @OTKnetwork Temptation creeped up on me at the end! Gratz to @extraemilyy she’s a real Champ! pic.twitter.com/jKgTTH4QIp — EE »★« (@EEvisu) April 26, 2022 EEvisu said the reason he came forward with the apology was that he wanted to have a “clean conscience” about the controversy given how he and ExtraEmily were playing for such a huge amount of money. He also said that he ‘understood’ why there was such a backlash to the drama. “The truth brings no man a fortune.” – Jean-Jacques Rousseau Your REAL Season 2 Schooled winner is… @extraemilyy!! 🥳🥳🏆 #OTKSchooled WOOOOOO pic.twitter.com/lLi9bWb3k2 — OTK (@OTKnetwork) April 26, 2022 Soon afterward, ExtraEmily was officially named by OTK as the “real” Season 2 Schooled winner. The team also threw some further shade by quoting Jean-Jacques Rousseau, who was the answer to the question that EEvisu was caught cheating on, saying “The truth brings no man a fortune.” This is likely a scandal that OTK won’t have to go through again, especially with Mizkif proclaiming that he is canceling Schooled for good following the drama. However, with fans begging the streamer to reconsider, there could still be hope for it to return.

  • ExtraEmily takes Twitch subathons in new direction by spending 24 hours taped to a wall – Dexerto

ExtraEmily takes Twitch subathons in new direction by spending 24 hours taped to a wall Twitch: ExtraEmilyOTK’s rising Twitch star ExtraEmily has taken subathons in a new direction by deciding to spend 24 hours taped to a wall. Subathons on Twitch have proven to be a wildly successful method in gaining viewership, followers, and, obviously, subscribers on the platform. Many superstar streamers like Ludwig have used this format to attain record-breaking subscriber counts. Streamer of the Year Kai Cenat even breaking said records with his latest subathon too. Subathons generally involve a streamer being live for an extended period of time, with a countdown timer that increases whenever a viewer subscribes. Thus, these subathons can last a long time, with Ludwig’s initial concept going for an entire month before his stream ended. However, since the original marathon run by Ludwig, the formula hasn’t been changed all too much. That’s where new challenger ExtraEmily comes in. The OTK streamer has seen a massive soar in popularity of late and now, they just began a subathon of their own, though with a unique twist. ExtraEmily’s subathon sees her being taped to a wall for up to 24 hours, depending on if the streamer can handle it. ExtraEmily’s subathon sees streamer taped against a wall for up to 24 hours As the streamer has a new take on the subathon, she’s also offered extra incentives to her viewers to subscribe. These include having water balloons and eggs thrown directly at her for those willing to gift and donate throughout the event. Many are uncertain if ExtraEmily will be able to complete the subathon, as the health consequences of taping yourself to a wall aren’t exactly positive. Redditors have wondered how Emily will eat, use the bathroom, or even be able to circulate blood during the marathon broadcast. Emily is still in the midst of the subathon as of the time of writing, with just above an hour left on her timer. However, that number is likely to increase the lower it gets as fans donate or subscribe to her channel.

  • ExtraEmily shocks Nmplol after not cashing cheque worth thousands – Dexerto

ExtraEmily shocks Nmplol after not cashing cheque worth thousands ExtraEmily/UnsplashTwitch star ExtraEmily left fellow OTK member Nick ‘NMPLol’ Pollom stunned after he found an uncashed cheque just sitting in her car worth $2000. Becoming a Twitch streamer has become a genuine career path for some, as getting to a sustainable level of income without being a top name is an actual possibility. Streamers can make money in plenty of different ways, be it through subscriptions, donations, completing Twitch bounty board listing, or getting their own sponsors. The last one can be incredibly lucrative too, as many streamers have found out over the years, seeing the likes of Ninja team up with Red Bull and beyond. In the case of ExtraEmily, she’s been on the rise on Twitch over the last few months, becoming a part of OTK in the process. While that’s certainly been lucrative, she did take her eye off the ball for one big payment. ExtraEmily leaves $2k cheque uncashed and people can’t believe it She was streaming with fellow OTK member NMPLol for July 4, when, as they were sat in her car after grabbing food, Nick noticed that there was a cheque just sitting in one of the compartments. “Oh yeah, it’s voided because I didn’t turn it in in time,” Emily said after he spotted it. Nick quickly took a look at it and was shocked to find out that it was worth $2000. “What the f*ck! This is for $2000!” he added. “It was from the Poker sponsor, it was the money I won from Poker,” Emily replied. “I don’t know why they had to give me a cheque!” Nick noted that some companies send cheques with a void date because, as in Emily’s case, if it doesn’t get cashed, they don’t have to pay out. Even though they do usually give you a few months to cash it. Plenty of viewers couldn’t believe it either, roasting Emily for leaving that sort of money on the table. So, maybe it’ll be a lesson for the next time she gets a cheque.

  • ExtraEmily pranks Mizkif by covering streaming room with hundreds of sticky notes – Dexerto

ExtraEmily pranks Mizkif by covering streaming room with hundreds of sticky notes Twitch: ExtraEmilyOTK streamer ExtraEmily decided to pull a prank on fellow content creator Mizkif by covering his streaming room with hundreds of colorful sticky notes. ExtraEmily has been making waves on the internet recently. The up-and-coming streamer saw a meteoric rise in recent months, enough so that she’s joined OTK. The organization’s owner Mizkif and herself have become quite close, with them often messing around on stream together in amusing ways. Emily’s ventures have seen her complete outlandish challenges, such as spanking a complete stranger in public, while her most recent subathon required her to tape herself up on a wall, with eggs and other projectiles being tossed at her for a whole 13 hours straight. Once the event had ended Emily jumped into a freezing pool for good measure. Now, her most recent on-stream adventure saw her ‘decorate’ Mizkif’s streaming room with an overwhelming number of colorful sticky notes. Upon Mizkif’s return, it was clear the OTK founder wasn’t too keen to see his entire room plastered with sticky notes, responding to Emily’s inquiry of if he likes it with a mini joke rant. “No one else has to deal with stuff like this,” he said. “Everybody else just streams, they go offline, they do ads. Like I just go to the gym and have like two errands to run, I come back and this is my life.” Emily playfully responded to the dejected streamer, “Ya! Isn’t it great? It’s cause you’re such a nice pal, Miz. And I feel like I can, you know prank ya, you know, prank ya hard.” Mizkif had only three words to say after that. “You got me.” Elated in her response, Emily asked Mizkif if he was able to run a stream with it. Just “one stream” with hundreds of sticky notes plastered around his walls is all she wanted to see. Though Mizkif wasn’t all too eager to keep them up. Unfortunately, Emily’s question seemed to fall on deaf ears, as Mizkif could only respond with a sarcastic gesture.

  • Twitch streamer ExtraEmily joins NPC TikTok trend and fans are actually impressed – Dexerto

Twitch streamer ExtraEmily joins NPC TikTok trend and fans are actually impressed ExtraEmily/TikTokStreamer ExtraEmily has shocked fans and other fellow streamers as she joins TikTok’s latest NPC live trend. And fans are stunned at how good at it she is. A new trend is taking TikTok by storm, but not without weirding out users. In video games, NPCs are Non-Player-Characters that are not controlled by any human operative. They mostly regurgitate scripted lines giving tasks or information and work to make the world feel lived in. When taken out of video games, NPC streamers, most commonly found on TikTok, seemingly work to emulate the characteristics of video game NPCs primarily through repetitive actions and dialogue. In July, 19-year-old TikToker Pinkydoll’s live went viral after repeating phrases on an apparent loop. But eagle-eyed viewers soon realized she was being paid using TikTok’s sticker function and the phrases corresponded to the stickers people paid for. The trend has since continued to grow, with more and more creators joining in. One of these was TikToker Nerdywinter, who has since revealed the jaw-dropping sum she was paid after her first three-hour-long stream. Streamer ExtraEmily joins viral NPC trend on TikTok One of the people who had their eyes opened to the new trend was streamer ExtraEmily, which Mizkif came across during a recent live stream. As he was scrolling through his TikTok live on his stream, Mizkif came across Emily’s TikTok Live, where she was in the middle of an NPC stream. During her live, Emily was seen reacting to the stickers that her viewers are sending to her, with each sticker having its unique reaction. Some of the reactions included “I’m a cowboy, yeehaw” while making lasso hand movements as the sticker placed a cowboy hat on her head, and the ice cream sticker making her say “ice cream so good, yum yum yum” while making matching hand motions to the sounds. While watching the live, Mizkif made a note that the cowboy hat sticker was $20, while continuing to watch with a big smile on his face. Fans are amazed at how good ExtraEmily is at NPCs Mizkif’s comment section was soon filled with people expressing their amazement at how good Emily was at the NPC trend. One person wrote: “Bro she is perfect for this.” Another said: “She’s way too good at this.” “Holy sh*t she’s good,” a third said. This is just the latest odd moment to take over TikTok after a man was arrested after driving “free candy” van to get police attention

  • ExtraEmily “knocked out” Emiru during OTK’s game day – Dexerto

ExtraEmily “knocked out” Emiru during OTK’s game day Twitch: NmplolOTK’s game day event featured the org members facing off against other streamers in a match of American football. During the game ExtraEmily collided with Emiru, leaving them both on the ground. OTK’s game day is a new show hosted by the organization where members of it go up against other streamers in various physical team-based sports. Week 1 and 2 featured soccer and basketball respectively, and now week 3 of the weekly show featured American football. During the match, ExtraEmily playing for the blue team was blocking Emiru playing for the red team when they were making a play. When the ball passed over them, Emiru attempted to do a quick turn and run after it, but collided with Emily who accidentally struck her, resulting in both dropping to the ground. Both teams quickly rushed in to assess the situation and determine if play could continue. Emiru collides with ExtraEmily during OTK’s football match It was quickly determined that despite falling to the ground in quite a dramatic manner, both streamers were uninjured and the game continued. Fans of OTK and viewers of the show jokingly attribute it to the lack of physical abilities displayed by the streamers present during the show. “Watching people who are athletically challenged try to run and throw a ball is both the funniest and saddest thing ever. Like spectating adult-sized toddlers with underdeveloped motor skills,” commented one user of r/LivestreamFail. Other users joked about the fact that it was a collision between the two Emilys present on the field. “There can only be one Emily,” joked another viewer. Followed by another similar comment reading: “Emily on Emily violence, you hate to see it.” If you crave more of the latest news about your favorite streamers head over to our entertainment section for more news and other viral Twitch stories.

  • ExtraEmily & Mizkif cut each other’s hair on stream and it ends in disaster – Dexerto

ExtraEmily & Mizkif cut each other’s hair on stream and it ends in disaster Twitch: ExtraEmilyTwitch streamer ExtraEmily decided to randomly snip a bit of Mizkif’s hair during her stream, initially dumbstruck Mizkif responded in kind chopping off a bunch of Emily’s hair. ExtraEmily has been in the spotlight quite a bit since her signing with OTK earlier this year, no doubt thanks to her great sense of humor and abilities as an entertainer. One of said abilities is to turn events surrounding her and the larger Twitch happenings into quick random skits and gags, such as the time when ExtraEmily elbow dropped a cake after finding out her appearance on xQc’s Love or Host was just “for content”. This time Emily took advantage of Mizkif being distracted while ordering food and asked him “can I cut your hair,” and proceeded to cut some of his bangs without waiting for the reply. Mizkif was initially shocked, but he decided to stay silent while confiscating Emily’s scissors. What happened next sent Emily into a bit of a panic as Mizkif cut a big lock of her hair in retaliation. ExtraEmily and Mizkif trade cutting off each other’s hair Emily initially was very upset at the amount of hair Mizkif cut in retaliation, pointing out that it can be clearly seen from afar. “Miz! That actually makes a difference,” screamed Emily. “You can actually see it, oh my god it looks horrible. Because it’s like, near the front of my face.” Mizkif eventually calmed Emily down before evening some of the hair out for her and reaffirming that it was barely noticeable. The moment was also somewhat cut short because Mizkif dropped his phone immediately after and everyone was worried that it shattered. ExtraEmily’s chat exploded with various responses, some just spamming laughing emotes finding the moment hilarious, while some angry viewers wrote things like “omg punch him,” or “omg why.” Though, neither Emily nor Mizkif holds a grudge against each other and they simply laughed it off.

  • ExtraEmily embarrassed after confusing bystander for fan in hilarious Twitch moment – Dexerto

ExtraEmily embarrassed after confusing bystander for fan in hilarious Twitch moment Twitch: ExtraEmilyTwitch streamer and newly minted OTK star ExtraEmily was left utterly embarrassed after she mistook a bystander for a Twitch fan when being asked to take a photo. One of OTK’s newest streamers was left absolutely dumbfounded after an embarrassing interaction with a bystander who she mistook for a fan. ExtraEmily has seen her viewership soar over the last year, where she often hosts variety content like speedrunning and IRL streams. With her success as a streamer she was invited to join OTK earlier this year, and with it, she’ll soon be hosting her very own show called “Wheel of Chaos”. Whilst doing an IRL stream walking around New York City days after the announcement, however, the streamer ran into what she had thought was a fan. The individual named Jason had asked Emily if she was able to take a photo of them, and of course, Emily obliged after removing a poop emoji costume she was currently wearing. After Jason was ready to pose for the photo, Emily approached him to take the photo as a selfie, Jason, obviously confused asked Emily, “oh… together?” After a brief pause of awkward silence, Emily burst out laughing realizing her mistake, and proceeded to take a regular photo of Jason. Both of them then apologized heavily to one another, making for a rather wholesome yet hilarious Twitch moment. This interaction is held in stark contrast to a previous interaction ExtraEmily had with a stranger on stream. Last year whilst IRL streaming at a Mcdonald’s, a woman barged onto her stream and made a racist comment towards her. Redditors have called out that this more recent interaction as faked, as Jason originally recognized Emily, after asking her if she was a part of OTK before this interaction. Reddit users were suspecting that Jason was a “paid actor” or that he was simply “was trolling” the variety streamer. Regardless of Redditors’ suspicions of the individual asking for the photo, ExtraEmily and her entire chat found the interaction hilarious and pointed it out as an almost grounding moment for ExtraEmily’s momentous rise as a streamer.

  • ExtraEmily has police called on her for kayaking in skate park – Dexerto

ExtraEmily has police called on her for kayaking in skate park Twitch: ExtraEmilyOTK streamer ExtraEmily was attempting to kayak in the middle of a skate park when a displeased passer-by called the cops on her. ExtraEmily has always had some rather unorthodox methods when it comes to content creation. The OTK streamer has completed challenges like spanking a stranger on stream, and, more recently struggled through an entire 14-hour subathon taped to a wall. It’s suffice to say that viewers never quite know what they’re tuning into when they hop onto her Twitch channel. As a prime example, during her latest broadcast on May 14, fans were treated to a stream that showcased Emily kayaking in the middle of a skateboard park. In a Jackass-esque fashion, Emily kayaked around and about the skate park, with it going as well as you’d expect. Unfortunately, Emily’s shenanigans were not well received by all, as some individuals standing by seemingly called the local authorities on her. This led to the streamer speaking with the police officer off-camera, explaining what she was doing, and documenting it all on stream. After some brief introductions, the officer explained that they had received a complaint about Emily’s kayaking schemes. “First of all, somebody complained about it. They said that you were kayaking here. I asked those guys over there and they said you’ve been respectful, not getting in their way or anything like that.” Emily politely listened to what the officer was saying, who allowed her to continue on with her hijinks. “If there’s a call I have to come, there’s no specific rule that says you can’t do it, so you don’t have to leave. But I do have to come and at least check what’s going on, so that’s what I’m doing. But you seem kind of conscious, so I don’t think there’s an issue, you don’t have to leave. If anyone calls, we have to come out every time.” Before leaving, however, the officer was incredibly curious as to why Emily had decided to kayak in a skateboard park. “I’m just curious, is it… why kayaking on a skateboard?” “It’s kind of like a Jackass thing.” the streamer responded. From there, Emily went on to continue kayaking and even ended up giving it away to one of the skateboarders.

  • ExtraEmily doesn’t hold back vs other candidates on xQc’s Love or Host episode – Dexerto

ExtraEmily doesn’t hold back vs other candidates on xQc’s Love or Host episode YouTube: extra emilyTwitch star ExtraEmily expertly roasted her rivals with an anime reference during xQc’s viral episode of Love or Host — and viewers couldn’t get enough. ‘Love or Host’ is a popular dating show on Twitch that’s hosted by streamer Austin Show. The livestreamed competition pits a slew of broadcasters against each other to win the heart of a contestant… but viewers determine the winner. At the end, it’s revealed whether or not the winner chose to either go on a date with the contestant or host their Twitch channel on Austin’s profile, hence the name ‘Love or Host.’ On March 5, prominent Twitch streamer Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel appeared on the show alongside a slew of potential female companions following his split from ex-partner Adept — and things got a bit heated at one point. ExtraEmily roasts Love or Host contestants with One Piece quip During the show, a few of the participants hit out at each other for their choice of clothing (or lack thereof), with ‘lickitthong_’ asking, “Where is your coat? I’m pretty sure Miss Billie Jean and Mister Billy Bob would not appreciate you with your breasts out.” It was then that Twitch star ExtraEmily got into the fray with a roast that sent viewers into stitches. “Honestly, x, there’s more filler here than in One Piece, so I’m definitely the most authentic girl, and I think I’m the one you should choose,” she said. Her not-so-subtle shade immediately lit up the Twitch chat like a Christmas tree — but it looks like xQc wasn’t fazed by her statement. “For the record, I don’t mind fake, okay?” he replied. “All t***ies matter.” In the end, ExtraEmily ended up winning over all her peers, with xQc explaining that he appreciated her ability to banter on camera (perhaps as a direct result of that One Piece roast?). ExtraEmily wasn’t the only streamer to get some shine out of this Love or Host episode, either, with Zastela also going viral due to her uncanny similarities to xQc.

  • ExtraEmily elbow drops cake for xQc after finding out Love or Host was just “for content” – Dexerto

ExtraEmily elbow drops cake for xQc after finding out Love or Host was just “for content” Twitch: ExtraEmilyTwitch star ExtraEmily destroyed a cake she made for xQc with an elbow drop after she found out that xQc’s appearance on ‘Love or Host’ was just “for content.“ ‘Love or Host’ is an online Twitch dating show hosted by Austin Show. The competition sees streamers going against each other to win the favor of a contestant, and the last standing person wins. In the end, the winner chooses to either go on a date with the contestant or have their Twitch channel hosted on Austin’s profile, thus the name “Love or Host.” On March 5, Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel appeared on the show as a contestant, with ExtraEmily being the eventual winner who chose “Love” at the end. Since the show xQc came out and stated that it was just for content creation purposes and that he and Emily are not dating. This did not go over well with Emily who was outraged by the claim. “F**k you xQc, you used me for content but I made you this f**g cake so screw you, you little rat f**k,” said Emily before doing an elbow drop on the aforementioned cake. While on the surface it looks like a genuine reaction, ExtraEmily spent a lot of time setting up the scenario live and even erupted into laughter right after the elbow drop, clearly stating that it was a joke. ExtraEmily elbow drops a cake meant for xQc in rage The clip made its way to the LivestreamFail Subreddit where it was met with some confusion regarding a lack of context, but one comment cleared it all up. “There’s a clip of X saying the show was just for content and they’re not actually dating. She made a joke response being offended that it wasn’t real. She rehearsed this clip for like an hour and laughs hysterically the second after this clip ends,” explained one user. The rest of the comments section is a mix of praise for the execution of the elbow drop, jokes at the expense of xQc, and users worried about the waste of food. ExtraEmily, xQc, and others who appeared on the show are still very much in the spotlight, and you can read all about the newest relating to them in our Twitch category.

  • ExtraEmily confronted on IRL cooking stream as woman thought she was making “crack” – Dexerto

ExtraEmily confronted on IRL cooking stream as woman thought she was making “crack” Twitch: ExtraEmilyTwitch streamer ExtraEmily had a very unexpected encounter with a stranger during an unorthodox cooking stream, as her small stove set-up in a car park attracted the wrong kind of attention. ExtraEmily is known best for her IRL streams, where she often gets up to mischief and creates entertaining highlights for her now 7,000+ average viewers. Many of these viewers tune in knowing that really anything could happen on these IRL streams, and when Emily began cooking steak in a car park, it was sure to cause some commotion. During the cooking stream, a stranger, unaware of Emily’s stream, confronted her after mistakenly believing she was instead cooking up an illegal substance. ExtraEmily confronted during cooking stream Admittedly, Emily’s cooking setup did look rather suspicious, as she simply sat down on the asphalt and used a small portable stove. The woman, under totally the wrong impression, shouted over, “Ma’am, this is a family establishment. You’re not allowed to cook crack in the parking lot.” “Oh – I’m cooking steak!” Emily quickly retorted, to which the woman, perhaps not believing her, asked, “What kind of steak?” Thankfully, once the misunderstanding was cleared up, the woman simply said “you go girl,” after ExtraEmily explained it was for a “YouTube, Twitch thing.” “She was so mad, but then she was so nice at the end. That was crazy.” Emily said. Moments like these are of course why Emily’s stream became so popular throughout 2023, and if she keeps up these antics on her IRL outings, 2024 could be another year of growth for her channel.

  • ExtraEmily dared to spank a stranger by chat randomizer challenge – Dexerto

ExtraEmily dared to spank a stranger by chat randomizer challenge Twitch: ExtraEmilyTwitch star ExtraEmily was dared to “spank a stranger’s butt” during a randomizer challenge while streaming at a mall, leading to an awkward confrontation with a shopper. Twitch is home to a haven of content from all corners of the internet, but IRL streams are some of the most varied out of all the site has to offer. These broadcasts follow streamers as they share their daily lives with viewers from anywhere in the world. Some, like QTCinderella, bake cakes for their audience, while others, like JinnyTTY, travel the globe as her viewers watch from home. However, OTK’s ExtraEmily decided to switch up her trip to the mall with a ‘randomizer’ challenge to make her IRL stream more exciting. ExtraEmily asks stranger if she can spank them in randomizer challenge During her stream, viewers could donate a certain amount to spin a wheel with a random list of tasks on it. In this case, 5 subscriptions, a $20 donation, or 2,000 bits would spin the wheel — and Emily would have to perform the task that showed up. During her shopping spree with fellow streamer Squeex, the wheel spun on an outrageous challenge: “Spank a stranger’s butt.” At first, Emily tried to get Squeex to ask passersby if they’d take part in the challenge — but quickly took matters into her own hands, asking two random men walking past if they would allow her to spank one of them. After a little deliberation, one of the men turned around and allowed ExtraEmily to give him a pat on the rear. Fans’ reactions were mixed, with some urging her against undertaking this particular challenge, while others simply laughed at the antics playing out on stream. This isn’t the first time creators have doled out spanks for content online; in 2020, League of Legends streamer Tyler1 got a paddlin’ after failing to finish a 20,000 calorie burger during an outing with pro player Faker.

(Accident happens at 2:50:15 in VOD) After pulling over into the parking lot, Emily and the man who hit her got out to talk and check out the damage done to each vehicle. Luckily, nobody was hurt and the damage to each car wasn’t too crazy, so they just went on their way. ExtraEmily breaks silence on Twitch ban after texting while driving: “I am reformed” OTK/ExtraEmilyExtraEmily has confirmed she was in fact banned from Twitch for being on her phone while driving, with the popular OTK content creator stating that she is going to make sure she is able to “grow” from the incident. On October 14, Dexerto reported that ExtraEmily was hit with an 18-hour ban from Twitch after she was seen texting while driving during a stream. The content creator, who has over 260,000 followers on the platform and plays an integral role in the prominent streaming org OTK, raised concerns within her community over the past couple of months for regularly being on her phone during streams. Even when driving, walking across busy roads, and other situations that could be putting herself in harm’s way. Now that her ban is over, ExtraEmily decided to address the incident in her first stream back. In her latest Twitch stream, Emily recapped the chunk of her return stream, talking in depth about why she was banned and what she has taken away from the experience. She first expressed how excited she is to be back streaming, stating that the ban “felt like an eternity” despite only keeping her offline for two days of her regular schedule. She then quickly moved onto the topic of the actual ban, confirming that it was because she was caught on her phone while driving. While some content creators opt to be defensive about their bans, ExtraEmily was frank about her understanding of why Twitch took her off the platform. “I completely understand why I was banned because I was looking at my phone while driving and from that ban, I have learned from my mistake and I’m going to make sure I grow from it and not look at my phone ever again while streaming. So all I have to do is just turn off the phone screen, I don’t have to have a phone in my hand.” ExtraEmily then added that, “I am reformed. It will be great and I won’t promote this distracted driving on stream anymore or on stream or anything…I did a lot of self-reflection over the past few days.” For all the latest entertainment news and updates, be sure to check out Dexerto’s full coverage here.

  • Experts warn of explosive bowel movements from viral TikTok saltwater flush trend – Dexerto

Experts warn of explosive bowel movements from viral TikTok saltwater flush trend TikTok: chaconsjourney / mandyvjonesHealth experts are warning against a viral TikTok trend where users are “flushing” their innards with saltwater, saying the fad could result in explosive bowel movements. TikTok is home to a slew of viral trends and fads that have taken over the platform many times in the past. Chief among these trends are health-related crazes — but not all of them are being well-received by experts, as seen in the app’s recent obsession with “butter boards.” However, the latest craze to be scrutinized by health and diet professionals is the saltwater flush trend… and it could have some dire consequences. The saltwater flush trend is, essentially, what it sounds like; it encourages users to drink salt water as a way to “flush” out the ‘sludge’ in their intestines. In fact, some TikTokers claim the practice has helped them lose significant weight, with one user saying she lost 8 pounds in three hours from the cleanse. TikTok’s viral saltwater flush trend gets backlash from experts But health experts say this isn’t actually good for you. According to a report from the New York Post, professionals are arguing that saltwater flushes can result in less-than-desirable consequences… like explosive diarrhea. Registered dietitian Abby Sharpe says these cleanses are “very dangerous for the masses” and even called them “napalm for your bowels.” Sharpe says the concentrated salt from these cleanses draw “all the water into your bowels and blasts everything in its path out the other end” — essentially giving you a really, really bad time on the toilet. That’s not all; she also claims that such cleanses can cause dehydration and a loss of electrolytes, something that tends to happen after a particularly stressful session in the bathroom, according to the Cleveland Clinic. Instead, professionals say that the body can flush waste out all on its own without the need for inducing a stomachache. This is just the latest health-related fad to get pushback from experts after users started putting calamine lotion on their faces back in August.

  • Experts warn TikTok users about negative effects of viral ‘healthy Coke’ trend – Dexerto

Experts warn TikTok users about negative effects of viral ‘healthy Coke’ trend TikTok: healthylittlepeach / pepperonimuffinTikTok is loving a viral recipe for a ‘healthy’ Coke alternative involving the key ingredients balsamic vinegar and flavored sparkling water, but some experts are warning that it might not be as healthy as it sounds. People love posting their viral recipes to TikTok, and viewers are often looking for food and drink recipes that will help improve their health in some capacity. In June, a recipe for a ‘healthy’ alternative to Coke started going massively viral on the app, with videos of people trying the recipe garnering millions of views and likes. To make it, you simply mix balsamic vinegar with flavored sparkling water. Some people claimed the strange combination tasted just like Coke, whereas others were not so convinced that it was an appealing alternative to the original drink. Click here if TikTok doesn’t load In response to the trend, some experts are warning that ‘healthy Coke’ may not actually be as healthy as the name would suggest. Speaking to CNET, registered dietitian and sports nutritionist Gabriela Barreto said: “Consuming that amount of balsamic vinegar, which is highly acidic at a pH of 2 to 3, in a beverage can be harmful. Generally, when we consume balsamic vinegar in a salad, there are other ingredients and the content of balsamic vinegar is not that high.” Click here if TikTok doesn’t load Cosmetic dentist Dr. Joyce Kahng went on to add: “The pH of vinegar is about 2 to 3, which is around the same level of acidity as a full sugar Coke or a Diet Coke, meaning it’s equally as detrimental to the enamel in high volumes. For reference, tooth enamel demineralizes at a pH of 5.5, so regardless of whether it is a regular Coke or not, both are unhealthy for teeth.” ‘Healthy Coke’ isn’t the only health-based drink trend doing the rounds on TikTok. The ‘internal shower’ trend is garnering millions of views, as people film themselves trying the chia seed beverage.

  • Experts warn against viral TikTok blackhead removal method using raw eggs – Dexerto

Experts warn against viral TikTok blackhead removal method using raw eggs Unsplash.com: Georgia DurrantTikTok’s latest skincare craze involves the use of egg whites — but experts are warning against using yolk to remove your blackheads, as it could lead to some negative results. TikTok is known for spawning the occasional viral trend from time to time. From dances to recipes and more, the video-sharing platform has kicked off so many iconic fads over the years that it’s honestly hard to keep count. The latest craze to emerge from TikTok deals with skincare, which boasts a huge following on the app as users across the world give their own tips and tricks to achieving clear, pore-free skin. However, this recent “hack” promises to clear up blackheads with an unusual ingredient — raw eggs. A viral video from user Armen Adamjan shows viewers how to make their own ‘blackhead pore strip’ by using egg whites. In the clip, Adamjan brushes egg whites over his nose and places tissue paper over top. He goes through a few layers of this, allowing them to harden before peeling them off, much like you would with a Biore pore strip. Unfortunately, this method might be better off back in the carton from whence it came. Health experts are warning against using raw eggs on their faces, as it could give people salmonella — a bacterial infection of the gut that can lead to such unpleasantries as stomachache, diarrhea, and vomiting. Skincare expert warns against viral TikTok DIY pore strip “hack” “Egg white does contain the enzyme lysozyme, which could break down bacteria on the skin,” Rachael Robertson, founder of Bedew Skin, said of the matter in a statement to the Mirror. “However, the whites of the egg are made mostly of water, so the benefits are very limited in comparison to a product designed for purpose. Due to the protein content, it could make your skin feel a bit tighter, but this would only be temporary.” “The technique itself might work for surface level dirt and oil in sebaceous filaments, which people often confuse for blackheads. For actual blackheads, it just isn’t going to cut it. They need proper extraction.” “Not to mention that, while the risk of salmonella is low, it’s not impossible,” she added. This isn’t the first TikTok trend to come under fire from professionals; recently, the viral ‘Lion Diet’ was called into question after experts took issue with potential nutritional deficiencies from the internet-famous ‘elimination diet.’

  • Experts warn of environmental dangers due to TikTok’s viral ‘frog army’ – Dexerto

Experts warn of environmental dangers due to TikTok’s viral ‘frog army’ TikTok: thinfrogExperts have warned that the viral ‘frog army’ on TikTok and other similar trends could have dangerous consequences for the environment if real, potentially driving certain populations closer to extinction. In February 2022, TikTok user thinfrog started documenting the process of creating a so-called ‘frog army,’ collecting frogspawn from puddles that appeared to be drying up. In June, thinfrog claimed that the frog army had finally hatched, explaining: “95 days ago I rescued 1.4 million frog eggs and put them in my pond for a frog army and now they [are] leaving the pond. And now a million little frogs [are] hopping around the garden. I don’t think I can walk on the grass anymore. This is the biggest frog army ever but I kind of regret this now no one can go in the garden.” Videos of swarms of frogs garnered millions of views, however, some users have argued that thinfrog is actually faking the frog army with footage taken from YouTube. Regardless, some are worried that the virality of this particular creator could prompt others to copy the idea. Click here if TikTok doesn’t load Experts are warning of the dangerous impact of trends like the ‘frog army,’ predicting negative consequences for the environment if they continue. Speaking to the Guardian, Tierra Curry, a conservation biologist at the Center for Biological Diversity, said: “It makes me cringe. Instead of helping, [These TikTok users] are actually hurting the animals they’re releasing and all the animals in the environment that they’re releasing them into – it’s creating a vector for disease and invasive species.” Click here if TikTok doesn’t load Chris Nagano, who worked as an endangered species biologist at the US Fish and Wildlife Service for 27 years, went on to say: “It’s the law of unintended consequences. I have no doubt this person may have thought he was doing a good thing, but he may actually be driving these populations to extinction.” Marine biologist and researcher for BBC Wildlife Dawood Qureshi also told Metro in June: “Breeding that many frogs is definitely not good for the environment. “It can cause an influx in frogs that wouldn’t normally survive in this environment, and that can have adverse effects such as too many predators of various insect species being released without many natural limits, which then decreases numbers of insects and can in turn have a negative impact on important processes such as pollination — a process that ensures food plants are growing and thriving.” Thinfrog has garnered over 20 million collective likes for his videos about the frog army, as well as 2 million followers, but many remain convinced that it’s all fake.

  • Experts warn against TikTok’s viral ‘slugging’ beauty trend – Dexerto

Experts warn against TikTok’s viral ‘slugging’ beauty trend TIKTOK: mikaylanogueiraTikTok users have been warned against the viral ‘slugging’ beauty hack trend, as experts claim it can cause acne. The Korean beauty trend has swept TikTok, and has been hailed by users as a glow-giving miracle. The process of ‘slugging’ involves slathering your face with petroleum jelly, like Vaseline, after going through your skincare routine. The product is meant to act as a barrier over the skin, sealing in moisture, and keeping your skin hydrated. Once applied, it looks like slug residue on your skin. The hashtag for slugging has over 465.6 million views on TikTok, and many users and celebrities have endorsed it. Content creator edwardzo went viral with over 5.5 views as he shared a ‘slugging’ tutorial, and claimed that it was great for people with “damaged, irritated, or sensitive skin.” Many experts have also praised ‘slugging’ for its many benefits, especially for those with dry skin. Jessie Cheung, MD, a board certified dermatologist and founder of Cheung Aesthetics & Wellness, told Healthline: “Skin slugging is simply the application of an occlusive to act as a barrier to seal moisture into the skin.” “Dermatologists have been recommending for years as the last step in your skin care routine to treat dry skin, as we know that skin slugging helps prevent water loss,” she told the outlet. Despite the proven benefits, some dermatologists have now warned that the popular beauty hack could cause acne. Experts warn against ‘slugging’ TikTok trend Experts at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachussetts, wrote in the journal Clinics in Dermatology: “Slugging entails slathering a petrolatum-based ointment on the skin as a last step in your evening skincare routine and is currently trending on TikTok.” “Due to its occlusive nature, slugging has the potential to cause acne,” they claimed. The BIDMC team also warned that slugging may “unintentionally increase potency of topical medications (e.g. steroids) when layered.” Dr Anjali Mahto, consultant dermatologist and British Skin Foundation spokesperson, told MailOnline: “I would not recommend slugging for acne-prone skin due to the risk of it occluding pores.” “There are far superior moisturising agents for acne-prone skin which are less likely to be comedogenic,” she said.

  • Experts warn against TikTok’s viral washing up liquid condensation hack – Dexerto

Experts warn against TikTok’s viral washing up liquid condensation hack Unsplash: Clem OnojeghuoA plumbing expert has warned TikTok users against trying a viral window hack that sees people using washing-up liquid to prevent condensation. There have been a huge number of different tricks and hacks to go viral on TikTok over the years, to help users with everything from cooking to cleaning, and more. However, while many can appear to be quite useful, some of them may actually end up causing more harm than good. Videos with thousands of likes on TikTok show users covering their windows with a thin layer of washing-up liquid, claiming that it helps prevent condensation. But although some have found that the hack has actually seemingly worked, bathroom expert Evan Jones from Bathroom Supastore told Manchester Evening News why the hack wasn’t perhaps as useful as it seems. “While the videos clearly show that they are condensation free, what they don’t show is that the moisture that would have formed on those windows has now gone elsewhere,” he said. He went on to say that the moisture that would have formed on the windows could instead soak into walls and ceilings. He went on to say: “Removing mold from your walls is more difficult than removing it from PVC. If the mold does develop in your walls then it could cost thousands to fix and could make you very ill in the process.” “If you are using washing up liquid on your windows to prevent condensation you need to stop right away as there are better and safer alternatives that won’t damage your home or your health.” Instead, Evan suggests using a dehumidifier as a more effective way of removing excess moisture, as it’s safer for both you and your house.

  • Experts warn against TikTok’s viral beer tan trend – Dexerto

Experts warn against TikTok’s viral beer tan trend UNSPLASH: Fábio AlvesExperts are warning against a viral TikTok trend that has users pouring beer all over themselves in an attempt to get a tan. TikTok is renowned for sparking trends, and getting thousands of people to participate in them. From must-try mac and cheese recipes to viral beauty hacks and more, the video-sharing app is always delivering the next big thing. However, the platform’s latest craze is actually being deemed as harmful by experts, as it involves people ‘showering’ in beer before laying out in the sun to bronze their skin. Since beer is less expensive than sunscreen, users claim the method of pouring the alcoholic beverage all over your body is a “cheap way” to tan faster. Some have used both beer and sunscreen, while others don’t use any at all. Experts warn against beer tan trend on TikTok Many specialists are now speaking out against the bizarre trend. Jason Goldberg, the director of the travel company Spa Seekers, explained the science behind why the fad has taken off on TikTok, and outlined the harmful effects of replacing sunscreen with beer. He said: “There is science behind why beer can help us to achieve a perfect tan, with the hops in beer activating melanin – the substance in our bodies which is responsible for making our skin darker. “However, if you were to replace using sunscreen for a can of holiday beer, you are leaving yourself vulnerable to the sun’s exposure with no protection. Doing this can leave you at an increased risk of sunburn, heatstroke, or even sun poisoning in severe cases.” For those looking to get that bronzed glow safely, Jason suggested “wearing an SPF of at least 30 and applying it between 15 to 20 mins” before heading out into the sun to achieve the perfect tan. This is just the latest TikTok fad to garner criticism from professionals, after health experts took issue with the app’s viral beef tallow skincare trend.

  • Experts warn against TikTok’s viral “mouth taping” trend – Dexerto

Experts warn against TikTok’s viral “mouth taping” trend TikTok: lexfish, movewithjamesA recurring trend on TikTok has users taping their mouths shut at night to breathe through their noses — but sleep experts are warning of “serious” health complications from this fad. TikTok is a haven for viral fads and trends, but not all of these crazes are good for your health. Take, for instance, the platform’s infamous ‘milk crate challenge,’ which caused a notable uptick in broken bones and sprains to the degree that doctors urged users against doing the challenge. Now, the latest trend to come under professional scrutiny is called the ‘mouth taping’ trend… and experts say it could have serious side effects. Essentially, the mouth taping trend aims to end snoring, daytime mouth breathing, and other effects by taping one’s mouth shut at night to breathe only through the nose. Click here if TikTok fails to load. This trend has been circling TikTok for some time, and the #mouthtaping hashtag boasts over 23 million views, with users across the platform testifying about the results of their own mouth taping escapades. Unfortunately, this method can result in some undesirable consequences, according to sleep expert and self-proclaimed ‘Sleep Geek’ James Wilson. In an interview with Newsweek, Wilson explained that “mouth taping is an extreme way of encouraging nose breathing that has some serious health risks.” “If this is the case, then taping your mouth will make your health worse and could contribute to more serious issues like heart disease, COPD, and stroke, particularly if applied and you are a sleep apnea sufferer,” he added. However, nose breathing definitely does have some benefits. According to Wilson, nose breathing “filters out foreign particles, humidifies the air you breathe in,” and “helps dilate your blood vessels, which can help the body circulate blood more efficiently.” Apparently, nose breathing also helps prevent tooth decay, reduces the impact of asthma, and even helps with allergens… but taping your mouth shut at night just isn’t the way to go about getting these benefits. This is just the latest TikTok trend to receive a word of caution, as users are also explaining that non-Hispanic/Latino people should avoid doing the platform’s viral ‘honey method’ love spell.

  • Experts warn against “dangerous” nasal spray tan trend going viral on TikTok – Dexerto

Experts warn against “dangerous” nasal spray tan trend going viral on TikTok TikTok: permatanco / georgiafox11Creators have been going viral on TikTok for promoting nasal sprays that claim to help your skin tan effortlessly, however, experts are warning people about the potentially “dangerous” effects the products could have. The beauty community is one of the biggest on TikTok, with thousands of popular creators making videos about makeup tips and tricks, recommending products, and sharing tutorials with their millions of viewers. In recent months, some creators have been going viral by promoting the use of special nasal spray products that claim to enhance your ability to tan, either outside or in a tanning bed. Some of these products reportedly claim to include Melanotan or Melanotan 2, which according to pediatrician Dr. Tanya R. Altmann “are synthetic chemicals that act like hormones the body makes naturally.” She went on to say that the idea of the product is supposedly meant to be that “increasing activity of this hormone may increase the number of the body’s own melanocytes and ability to produce pigment.” This TikTok trend is going viral among young teens, and I want to make all parents aware of it. Dermatologist Dr. Whitney Bowe also warned against the use of the products in January 2022. “Red flag number one is that the way this medication is absorbed is that it actually gets absorbed through your mucus membranes in your nasal airway, and that’s basically like a straight shot right to your bloodstream. So that’s going to increase your risk for systemic side effects.” Click here if TikTok doesn’t load The side effects reported with one particular product reportedly include: “Nausea, allergic reactions, hives,” and a “fluctuating libido.” This is far from the only dangerous TikTok trend to become popular on TikTok, with things like Sleepy Chicken and Orbeez shooting being warned against by experts.

  • Experts warn against TikTok’s disturbing ‘Fairy Flying’ trend – Dexerto

Experts warn against TikTok’s disturbing ‘Fairy Flying’ trend Unsplash: Solen FeyissaExperts are warning against a disturbing TikTok trend that has users posting videos of themselves seemingly hanging in the air to appear like a flying fairy. TikTok has been a hotbed of creative content for several years now, with users constantly looking for fresh and unique trends to try and share on the short-form video app. However, not all of them are safe, whether it involves experts warning against smearing beef tallow across your face or users holding their breath until they pass out. Now, experts are expressing concerns over a new viral TikTok trend that sees people posting videos of their bodies seemingly floating or hanging in the air, mimicking a flying fairy. These clips are shot in a specific manner, showing bodies from the shoulder-down, chest-down, or hips-down, giving the illusion that they’re hanging lifeless in the air. Despite the trend amassing millions of views, many viewers have found it unsettling and triggering. Experts warn against ‘Fairy Flying’ TikTok trend In a comment to the New York Post, child and adolescent psychiatrist Dr. Josh Stein said: “The #fairyflying trend could be triggering or bring about negative emotions for people who have experienced suicidal ideation or have loved ones who’ve attempted or committed suicide.” He continued: “Even in its most innocent form, videos that depict people hanging could be disturbing to some. This speaks to one of the major challenges of TikTok and social media — things go live and without awareness of potential consequences or warnings.” TikTok has previously removed content and phrases from its platform after deeming them harmful to viewers. Searching for prohibited terms often results in a “Your safety matters” message. While some viewers have pointed out these ‘Fairy Flying’ videos seem disturbingly similar to death imagery, the platform has a clearly stated policy against content promoting suicide and self-harm. • Experts highlight risks of TikTok’s ‘5 to 9 before 9 to 5’ productivity trend – Dexerto

Experts highlight risks of TikTok’s ‘5 to 9 before 9 to 5’ productivity trend Unsplash: Jessica DelpTikTok users are loving the viral ‘5 to 9 before 9 to 5’ productivity trend that sees people establish a healthy routine before and after the work day, but experts have highlighted some possible risks of the trend. There are so many different communities on TikTok that are generating a constant stream of content. In particular, many users love watching content about health and productivity, to try and find ways that they can improve their lifestyles. This can be anything from quick and healthy recipe videos, to productivity life hacks. One trend, the ‘5 to 9 before 9 to 5’ has been particularly popular on the app throughout 2022. As the name suggests, this productivity trend sees users establishing a morning routine between the hours of 5 and 9, before their regular work day from 9 to 5. It also covers the hours following the work day when it ends at 5. People use these hours to do anything from cooking and cleaning to reading and yoga, but these routines differ between individuals. According to the New York Post, habit scientist and dietitian, Dr. Gina Cleo, backs the idea, saying: “There are only so many hours in a day and using those hours productively can give us a real sense of achievement. “Whether it’s spending time on self-care, personal development, or optimizing your health and wellbeing, creating a healthy 5 to 9 routine before the 9 to 5 working day, can be a great way to make the most of your waking hours.” However, she added that there could be potential risks and harms to watch out for if you’re thinking of trying the trend. “Potential harms can include sacrificing sleep for ‘productivity’, trying to fit in too much in a day, feeling inefficient when your body needs a sleep-in or rest, being too focused on your routine and consequently neglecting listening to your body’s needs,” she said. Dr. Cleo went on to add: “If you are naturally a night-owl, then attempting to do anything at 5 am or even 7 am is likely to feel completely unachievable. “Sleep is one of the most important things you can do for your health, so if you’re naturally waking up just in time to get ready for your 9 to 5 job, then don’t feel bad that you haven’t achieved anything more in the morning. Night owls generally complete their chores, study, exercise, etc. after their workday, not before.” The 5 to 9 trend has received mixed feedback on TikTok, but videos featuring the routine have garnered millions of views and likes.

  • Experts warn against “harmful” TikTok cleaning product overload trend – Dexerto

Experts warn against “harmful” TikTok cleaning product overload trend TikTok: tikktokk.cleaning / cleaningmamabeeExperts have warned users about the potential consequences of trying the viral cleaning ‘product overload’ trend on TikTok, saying that it could be “harmful” to human health and wildlife. There’s a community for just about everything on TikTok, whether that’s for fashion, cooking, art, or pretty much any hobby you can think of. The cleaning community is thriving on TikTok, with thousands of accounts dedicated solely to sharing satisfying videos of them cleaning areas around their house, which can often end up garnering millions of views. One cleaning trend in particular that has been popular on the platform for a while now has been dubbed ‘product overload.’ This essentially involves people cleaning one particular area such as their sink or toilet with multiple cleaning products at once. The products used are often brightly colored, and commenters can even request certain color combinations. The clips have garnered millions of likes and views, however, some experts are warning that the trend could actually be dangerous. DC-based marine resilience specialist Dr. Deborah Brosnan told Insider that the compounds mixed in these videos could disrupt marine life, particularly chlorine-based bleach, as purifying systems in waterways can’t fully extract the bleach. She went on to say: “When dumped in water, chlorine in bleach reacts with other chemicals and causes the formation of dioxins which are harmful to human health and wildlife. Studies indicate that they contribute to the lowering of bird and fish populations.” Campaign manager at Unblocktober Richard Leigh called the trend “alarming” and “dangerous.” He added: “The amount of product used in a single one of these videos is more than many households would be using over six months.” Pharmacist at Medino Digital Pharmacy in London Giulia Guerrini also warned users about the dangers of mixing chemicals together, saying: “Many cleaning products include already-toxic chemicals that, when mixed, can be lethal when ingested or inhaled. Mixing cleaning products is something that you should never, ever, ever do, no matter how ‘pretty’ or ‘mesmerizing’ it looks.” This is by no means the only cleaning trend to take social media by storm in recent years. In 2020, users were going viral with their videos showing them cleaning their fabrics with a method known as ‘laundry stripping.’

  • Experts warn against dangerous TikTok trend where users “sun” their “holes” – Dexerto

Experts warn against dangerous TikTok trend where users “sun” their “holes” TIKTOK: laurenannekennedy/aimeeinghigher_Experts have warned against a dangerous TikTok trend that sees users “sunning” their “holes.” The new trend has gone viral on the social media app, as users claim there are benefits to pointing your butt at the sun every day. Some have claimed that “sunning your holes” for two minutes a day will increase your vibrations. Others claimed it gave them more energy and improved their sleeping patterns. A few have also suggested that the practice made them attract people who are on the same “frequency” and “wavelength” as them. In a viral video, which has almost 400,000 views, TikToker laurenannekennedy shares that she’s happy all the time thanks to the trendy wellness activity. Users were indifferent to the viral trend, as they commented their thoughts under the video. “People just make up anything to be different,” one person wrote. “This has to be a joke,” another one added. “This is definitely a rich people thing, because if I sun my holes, about three neighbours are getting an eyeful,” someone joked. “It’s called ‘where the sun don’t shine’ for a reason,” another person quipped. While the “butthole sunning” trend seems like a harmless wellness activity, some experts have warned others against it due to dangerous risks. Experts warn people against “sunning” their “holes” Nazanin Saedi, MD, department co-chair of the Laser and Aesthetics Surgery Center at Dermatology Associates of Plymouth Meeting, told Health: “As a dermatologist, I cannot recommend any sun exposure without sun protection.” She continues: “These areas, just like other areas of the body, do need sun protection and clothing tends to provide that.” Founder of Mount Kisco’s The Center for Dermatology, Cosmetic & Laser Surgery, David E. Bank, MD, also informed the outlet of his concerns. “It’s actually dangerous,” Dr Bank said about the trend. “This skin is particularly sensitive.”

  • Expert warns Twitch gambling ban won’t mark end of Slots hype in streaming – Dexerto

Expert warns Twitch gambling ban won’t mark end of Slots hype in streaming TwitchTwitch took drastic action to ban certain gambling streams on the platform following recent controversy surrounding Slots broadcasts. However, one expert tells Dexerto the ban won’t mark the end of the gambling hype in streaming as creators look to new platforms. Twitch has finally put its foot down on Slots streams taking the platform by storm over the last two years. Following recent controversy with Sliker “scamming” viewers and other streamers out of hundreds of thousands to gamble, the Amazon-owned service is banning luck-based gambling in October. “While we prohibit sharing links or referral codes to all sites that include slots, roulette, or dice games, we’ve seen some people circumvent those rules and expose our community to potential harm,” the platform said on September 20. “We’ll be making a policy update on October 18 to prohibit streaming of gambling sites that include slots, roulette, or dice games that aren’t licensed either in the US or other jurisdictions that provide sufficient consumer protection.” While it’s arguably the final nail in the coffin for gambling streams on Twitch, it’s not the end of the practice entirely. Mark Johnson, an Associate Professor at the University of Sydney, has studied Twitch for the last eight years, including the rise of gambling content. He told Dexerto it’s still early days in terms of how Twitch’s policy will shape up, and it’s “tough to say” exactly where things will go. Without anything concrete locked in until mid-October, it’ll take some time to truly analyze its effects on the streaming space. There is already a shift though — content creators are just finding new platforms to promote the practice on. “The immense success of slots streams on Twitch shows that there is a big market for this, but it’s also a market of people who are already using Twitch and spending time there — so would moving slots streams to another platform generate the same audience numbers? “I’ve actually already seen some streamers directing their viewers to YouTube, so maybe this will become the next location. I definitely don’t think this is the final development though. This is just one in a sequence and we’ll have to see what happens next and precisely how, and to what extent, Twitch ‘enforce’ these new rules.” There was definitely mounting pressure on Twitch to stop the practice well ahead of the Sliker controversy which pushed the narrative over the edge. While Slots and other forms of luck-based gambling thrived, some of the platform’s biggest names were denouncing policies that let it grow unimpeded. Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys was the leader of this movement, with the Twitch star voicing her discomfort with gambling streams being promoted numerous times. However, it’s also likely the Amazon-owned service felt forced to act on this one issue in the face of many other controversies. “Twitch are at least presenting this as a response to a lot of streamer backlash about gambling, but even that has to sit within a much wider contemporary context of streamer backlash and resentment about a number of ongoing Twitch issues and problems,” Johnson continued. “There’s a lot of stuff on Twitch at the moment — unequal enforcement of rules, adult content, harassment — a lot of people are critiquing, and this has to be seen within the context of Twitch’s ‘shine’ generally declining in the last couple of years. “Maybe Twitch therefore saw this as a way to appear to be responsive to their users — especially in the outcry after the revelations about the gambling stream scam in recent days.” There are also the challenges of navigating a relatively unregulated space and trying to make the rules. The rise of crypto casinos in the last 18 months took everyone by surprise, and before its impacts were truly known Twitch was suddenly the host for the majority of promotion. Websites like Stake and Roobet found ways to crack the market with mega collaborations, such as Stake’s mega Twitch stream with Drake pulling more than 100,000 peak viewers. Even on a smaller scale, crypto casinos were offering streamers millions of dollars a month to gamble live in front of their viewers, all while offering codes to lure potential gamblers in. This poses a legal and moral dilemma for Twitch; one that doesn’t really get answered with this initial gambling ban but could depending on where things go from here. “I wouldn’t be surprised if there was indeed concern internally at the company about potential legal concerns and some of these massive sponsorships these streamers were getting,” Johnson said. “Gambling streaming was, and pretty much still is, a very unregulated and unmonitored area, and I think this is a move by Twitch towards greater caution, and trying to ‘head off’ any potential larger problems down the line.” The one party likely to not be hurt at the end of all of this though is the crypto casinos, and that likely means the Slots hype will continue on different streaming services. “These websites [like Stake and Roobet] might have had a potentially major future source of revenue and interest cut off, however, as these channels were only growing and getting larger and larger in terms of interest, I don’t think their bottom lines will get changed too much. “That said, though, we have yet to see precisely what the details of this policy change are, how Twitch will enforce it, and whether these initial slot streams have given people enough of a ‘taste’ for the content we’ll then see these shifting onto other platforms instead.”

  • Experts estimate the eye-popping cost of PewDiePie and Marzia’s wedding – Dexerto

Experts estimate the eye-popping cost of PewDiePie and Marzia’s wedding PewDiePie, Instagram / FreepikYouTube king Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg celebrated eight years of love with former YouTuber Marzia Bisognin in an “intimate” wedding in late August – but just how much did their private ceremony cost? While both Kjellberg and Bisognin kept their wedding under wraps for obvious reasons, the social media stars have yet to divulge how much coin they spent on the affair – but experts estimate that the pair didn’t pinch pennies. According to reports from the Daily Mail, PewDiePie and Marzia’s wedding cost an estimated £121,500 – or $148,860.46, for those across the pond. 600The UK-based couple said their vows at Kew Gardens’ Nash Conservatory and Temperate House, which boasts a hefty fee of £21,000 ($25,728.97) for those hoping to rent out the space – an allegedly reduced price, since the wedding took place on a Monday). That’s not all: the couple likewise dropped £900 ($1,102.42) on a photobooth through company Photobot, providing attendees with unforgettable snapshots of the wedding. Hospitality at the Conservatory doesn’t come cheap, either, with their wedding breakfast costing about £75 per person – leading to an overall cost of £3,000 ($3,675.23). Lighting, PA systems, and other such vendor equipment for weddings at the Conservatory runs at £2,500 ($3,064.56), with experts estimating the couple spent £6,000 on production alone. 600Of course, we can’t forget Marzia’s wedding gown, with costs of designer Joan Fleming starting at £2,000 minimum – leading to an estimated £5,000 spent on the dress. With PewDiePie’s own tux running an estimated £5,600, and with other costs not listed, experts felt that an amount in the ballpark of $100,000 wasn’t out of the question: and with the couple remaining tight-lipped as to the actual cost of their union, it’s the closest number fans can figure for the YouTubers’ special day. 600Additionally, PewDiePie and Marzia are estimated to be worth £27 million together, so their wedding budget isn’t likely to have set them back very far – but it did make for a beautiful day that touched the hearts of fans across the globe.

  • Expert claims PewDiePie could be trying to dodge tax with offshore account – Dexerto

Expert claims PewDiePie could be trying to dodge tax with offshore account Instagram: pewdiepieA tax expert has accused PewDiePie of attempting to dodge paying his taxes in the UK, with plans to shift his company, PewDie UK Ltd., to Cyprus. PewDiePie is one of the biggest online entertainers on the planet. His YouTube channel, in excess of 100 million subscribers, firmly plants him as the most subscribed-to individual creator on the platform, and as such, means he’s doing well to fill his wallet, too. While PewDiePie is Swedish, he has resided in Brighton, England for much of his life, and director of the UK-based PewDie UK since April 2019. Now, though, he has appointed two new directors to the company — and it’s believed that they will help him reduce his tax bill by migrating the company from the UK to Cyprus, where the new directors are based. According to this report from Input Mag, the two new directors — Andreas Menelaou and Kseniia Milevska — have provided a correspondence address on PewDie UK Ltd. that is their own company’s base, Andreas Menelaou LLC in Nicosia, Cyprus. Tax expert Nimesh Shah, CEO of Blick Rothenberg, told Input Mag that this is likely down to PewDiePie’s desire to take advantage of the reduced tax rates — 19% in the UK, over 50% higher than the 12.5% taxation in Cyprus. “From a tax perspective, what I think they’re trying to do is they’re trying to migrate this UK company to Cyprus,” he said. “If the decisions, the overall management, and strategic decisions are conducted outside the UK, you can migrate that company outside the UK for tax purposes, and therefore the UK lets go of it and corporation tax.” Popular YouTuber Kwebbelkop also commented on the matter, saying that “most of them [top YouTubers] are going to start considering looking for ways to minimize the amount of money they have to pay.” Adding “a lot of people try to keep it as secret as possible because it can be damaging for their reputation.” Of course, it is not yet possible to prove that this is exactly what is happening, but it does appear to these experts that Kjellberg is trying to look for ways to maximize his earnings — and cut his losses. It’s also worth noting that this is not an illegal procedure. It’s incredibly common for those earning a certain amount of money to register their companies in offshore accounts so as to reduce tax payments. But, as Kwebbelkop notes, while not illegal, these decisions can damage reputations, so PewDiePie is unlikely to be shouting about his company’s move.

  • Expert says OceanGate submarine passengers will “never be found” – Dexerto

Expert says OceanGate submarine passengers will “never be found” lovee.miss.lauren/TikTokA mortician on TikTok has explained why she doesn’t think the Oceangate passengers will ever be found after detailing what happens to a human body when a submarine implodes. The story of the missing OceanGate submersible took the internet by storm as the US Coast Guard scrambled to find it. Unfortunately, it’s since been confirmed that the submarine was destroyed and likely suffered a “catastrophic implosion” just hours after it departed. In response to the news, TikTok mortician Lauren has been sent several questions about what might have happened to the passengers. In her videos, Lauren usually talks about the craziest ways people have died that she’s experienced through her job, as well as things she won’t let her children do because of her job, like going on carnival rides. But in one of her most recent videos, Lauren talked about what most likely happened to the passengers’ bodies after the OceanGate submarine imploded. What happened to the OceanGate passengers? In the TikTok video, which has been viewed over 19.7 million times, Lauren explained: “They will not find any human body parts. “When a submarine implodes, it crushes inwards like a soda can, due to the intense pressures of the water. When I tell you their deaths were instant, I really mean it. I’m dead serious. “It happens so fast that their brains don’t even have time to register what’s happening or even sense pain. So no, they will not find any parts of them because they have now become fish food, and will forever lie at the bottom of the ocean, meaning that there will be no recovery.” What were the OceanGate banging noises? As officials have been looking for the OceanGate submarine, they reported hearing banging noises coming from the area where the submarine went missing. A Navy official later said the sounds were picked up by Canadian P-8 aircraft that dropped sonobuoys — devices that use sonar to detect things underwater — as part of the international search effort, Rolling Stone reported. Coast Guard Capt. Jamie Frederick said at the time, “With respect to the noises, specifically, we don’t know what they are, to be frank with you.” Lauren claims she is convinced “ghosts are down there and that they’re mad we were in their space.” She went on to say that she often hears “ghosts banging on tables and making loud noises” to get her attention while she is working at the morgue.

  • Exclusive: How streaming star xQc landed $100M Kick deal – Dexerto

Exclusive: How streaming star xQc landed $100M Kick deal xQc | TwitterIn an exclusive interview with xQc’s agency, they revealed how the streaming giant landed his $100 Million Kick deal’s price tag. In June 2023, Felix “xQc” Lengyel and Kick lit the streaming world on fire when it was announced the streaming giant had penned a $70 million with the burgeoning platform, skyrocketing the site’s popularity to the moon. And coming with incentives, it pushed the deal to $100 million. The price tag is one of the largest of its kind in entertainment, with the New York Times likening its size to the two-year contract extension NBA star LeBron James signed with the LA Lakers. With 12 million Twitch followers in tow, xQc’s deal with Kick was so large that his first stream on the site forced the platform to make upgrades to its servers. So the question stands, how did xQc and Kick come to the deal’s jaw-dropping price tag? xQc’s agency reveals how the Kick deal’s price tag was agreed Speaking to Sébastien Delvaux, the COO of Evolved, the talent agency representing xQc, he joked when asked, “good agent-ing”. Jokes aside, the price tag for the deal was set due to xQc’s immense audience size and the level of engagement they’ve proven to have over his years of streaming on Twitch. “We’ve seen that Felix has a great ability to bring his audience wherever he goes, his audience is extremely engaged, one of the most engaged audiences you’ll find on Twitch,” Delvaux said. He pointed out that one of the least discussed aspects of xQc’s community, his subreddit r/xqcow, is one of Reddit’s biggest forums at 300,000 members and is a place where Kick’s name and branding would be plastered all over. Even past his subreddit, xQc is also massively talked about in various other communities he’s a part of, such as the GTA RP, Overwatch, and Minecraft scene, just to name a few. And signing xQc would allow Kick’s name and branding to spread through many of those avenues. “There’s so many communities that we don’t even know about that are all focused around Felix and other creators that fans are putting time into,” Delvaux said of xQc’s influence over his audience. “They’re making memes, and they’re making all these different kind of things, and if Kick can be a part of that, they see that as extremely valuable.” For all the latest entertainment news and updates, be sure to check out Dexerto’s full coverage here.

  • Exclusive: Twitch banned Kai Cenat after “simulated sexual activity” on stream – Dexerto

Exclusive: Twitch banned Kai Cenat after “simulated sexual activity” on stream Twitch: KaiCenatRumors of why Twitch star Kai Cenat was banned have flooded social media, and sources close to Dexerto have revealed why. On April 17, 2023, Kai Cenat was hit with a shocking ban from Twitch that left fans wondering why the record-breaking streamer was suspended. A variety of theories began making their way around social media, including rumors that he was getting prepared to move to Kick. Sources have told Dexerto why the ban was given, making it clear that it’s just a temporary suspension. Why was Kai Cenat banned on Twitch? Regarding his recent ban, sources close to Dexerto have revealed it was due to “repeated explicit simulated sexual activity in GTA.” It is a temporary ban, but it was not made clear how long the Twitch star will remain suspended. Those who have watched Kai Cenat on stream over the last few months are well aware of the wide variety of content the star has to offer. From just chatting streams, getting attacked by a dog during his subathon, and even gameplay, Kai Cenat’s content leaves fans hooked. According to Twitch’s Community Guidelines, Sexually Suggestive Content is prohibited on the platform. “To ensure content on Twitch is appropriate for diverse audiences, sexually suggestive content is prohibited on Twitch,” it reads. “Evaluations on the sexual suggestiveness of a behavior or activity are independent of user attire and are instead based on the overall surrounding framing and context.” Kai’s not the first creator to be hit with a ban for this reason over the last year, as Aydan, Clix, and even Adin Ross have been hit with similar bans on the purple app.

  • Exclusive: Twitch open to working with more platforms following TikTok integration – Dexerto

Exclusive: Twitch open to working with more platforms following TikTok integration Unsplash / TikTok / TwitchTwitch appears open to collaborating with more social media platforms down the line following its recent integration with TikTok, allowing users to export clips directly on the brand’s app. While it may seem like all social media platforms are gunning against one another in the race to capture the masses, that hasn’t exactly been the case of late. Just last month we saw Twitch and TikTok buck the trend with a heavily-praised integration, one content creators had been pleading for for quite some time. Now, instead of having to manually edit highlights from a stream to then be shared on TikTok, there’s a feature that does it all automatically, saving everyone hours of time and effort. In speaking with Dexerto at PAX Australia, Twitch’s APAC Content Director Lewis Mitchell implied it wasn’t a one-and-done deal. Rather, the Amazon-backed streaming platform is more than open to future collabs of this nature should it benefit content creators worldwide. First and foremost, Mitchell sought to make it abundantly clear Twitch is purely focused on the “livestreaming” aspect of its viewer experience. “We are a livestreaming service and that is what we’re going to be concentrating on for the indefinite future.” Though naturally, Twitch recognizes content creators want to spread their wings and share content elsewhere too. So rather than restricting that motive, they’re here to support it where it makes sense to do so. “Creators want to connect to their communities in all different ways,” Mitchell acknowledged. “There’s a whole plethora of different platforms and services. “Hearing that ‘We want to be able to share [content] quickly, it takes time and effort…’ For us, it’s ‘How do we make that easy?’” Aiming to directly support streamers big and small with additional tools where possible, the recent TikTok feature is just one such example of a step in that direction, and it’s not something Twitch is now closing the door on. Quite the opposite, in fact. “We’ll keep looking at that and trying to make sure those tools are available,” Mitchell added. “Find other ways to not just connect your with your current community, but help find new community members.”

  • Exclusive: QTCinderella reveals surprise new category for The Streamer Awards – Dexerto

Exclusive: QTCinderella reveals surprise new category for The Streamer Awards QTCinderellaQTCinderella dished on a brand-new category she’s implementing for the 2023 Streamer Awards in an exclusive interview with Dexerto. The Streamer Awards is among the first awards ceremonies of its kind, celebrating the best and brightest online entertainers and content creators across multiple platforms. First broadcast in 2022, The Streamer Awards is the brainchild of Twitch star QTCinderella, who is highly lauded for the other live events that she’s organized for streamers in the past (such as the widely acclaimed ‘Shitcamp’ summer camp). Last year, the Awards saw a slew of top-tier talent gather together under one roof to honor each other’s achievements and possibly receive a Golden Pepe via community and panel votes — but this year, things are a little bit different. QT reveals ‘Streamer’s Streamer Award’ for 2023 show We sat down with QTCinderella ahead of the Streamer Awards to get her perspective on creating such a major event when she revealed that a brand-new Award will be implemented for the 2023 ceremony. According to QT, nominated streamers attending the event will be presented with a ballot to vote for their favorite streamer of the year in the first-ever Streamer’s Streamer Award. Ballots will be collected near the end of the ceremony to award the content creator that other streamers have liked the most over the last year — and we won’t find out until the end of the show. “Kind of a fun surprise this year is we’re doing a ‘Streamer’s Streamer Award,’” she revealed. “It’s kind of like a Player’s Choice Award. When everyone arrives to the show… my agency is going to pass out ballots, and they’re going to vote for what streamer they love watching.” “That vote will be calculated that night,” she explained. “We’ll see when we get it, I have no clue. They might be whispering it to me ten seconds before. The person might not be attending. It doesn’t matter. It’s about highlighting who streamers love to watch.” Fans can tune into The Streamer Awards on Saturday, March 11 on QT’s official Twitch channel.

Despite a global health crisis, Supercar Blondie says her business is booming: “I took a step back when it comes to flying around the world, but actually my business this year has grown more than it ever has because we adapted to the change and started expanding and creating more content than we ever have before. “We really only had to step back from traveling which I’m also thankful for because it was exhausting. Going forward I will be traveling more once restrictions lift but only for specific things…so we will be based in Dubai more and be filming more local content.” The Craig David and Supercar Blondie race for series 1 is set to take place at 1 PM (GMT) on Saturday, February 6, and will be live-streamed on VELO’s YouTube channel.

  • EXCEL’s Leahviathan explains the challenges of ‘making it’ on Twitch – Dexerto

EXCEL’s Leahviathan explains the challenges of ‘making it’ on Twitch EXCELWhile breaking out on Twitch is never easy, EXCEL’s newest content creator Leah ‘Leahviathan’ Alexandra discusses the pros and cons of trying to make it as a variety streamer in a highly competitive world. With the growth Twitch and of competitive gaming, players across the globe can now hone their skills and transform their hobbies into full-time jobs. Leahviathan, British variety streamer and now EXCEL member, is one such content creator. Starting her journey in 2015 focused on Destiny, Leah has done everything from cosplay streams to watching reality TV on YouTube. The curse of variety streaming, though, is that constantly chopping and changing games means you won’t become a go-to for one specific community. As she joins EXCEL, we spoke to Leah on the challenges of ever-changing streams, and she sheds some light on her personal journey to being a full-time content creator. You’re hired 😏 Welcome @leahviathan! 🎉 pic.twitter.com/pDt9hNM73y — GIANTX (@GIANTXENG) April 29, 2022 There is luck involved While Leah’s vibrant personality and feisty quips make her streams a must-see, she confesses that “she got lucky” when it comes to building an audience on Twitch. “I actually started off not as a variety streamer,” she tells Dexerto. “I intended to start doing variety streams, but then the Destiny community was incredible on Twitch back then; Twitch was very different back then.” As Destiny declined, Overwatch took pole position, but she recalls “you see quite a substantial drop in viewership and interest when you switch to variety streaming because people are there to watch one game, and it’s hard to capture the interest of people who might be interested in you as opposed to the game. “But I stuck at it because I thought to myself ‘to be honest, if I can’t sustain a channel doing what I want to do then I don’t want to do it.’ To me there’s no point in forcing that – I don’t want to just be playing a game to keep the channel alive, because it would be quite obvious I wasn’t enjoying myself and I knew I would end up hating my life! Which is so silly – you’re playing video games – but it is interesting how that does things to your mental. “So then I started variety streaming, and I’ve just been super, super lucky. I play whatever catches my fancy: sometimes it’s the latest game that’s come out, sometimes it’s something that’s been out for a very long time. I just ride the wave of whatever’s happening with my channel. It can be really hard to grow on Twitch, and to be honest, these days if you were starting as a variety streamer I think it would be incredibly difficult.” While Leahviathan also notes that “from my limited perspective it seems like the only way you can grow these days is to have a TikTok or post your other content constantly on other platforms,” she thinks that the grind is very much worth it. “There’s a sense of freedom where if I’m like ‘oh, I want to sit on YouTube for four hours and watch house tours’ then I can do that. I don’t look at my sub count, I don’t look at my viewer count – I don’t look at any of the metrics. “In a way, it’s hard because you pigeonhole yourself sometimes in your content because you think ‘oh I probably do things this way’ – but it’s good to get out of that mindset and realize you can kind of do whatever you want, and if you have an audience who are interested in watching you then it’s up to you to keep their interest.” So sure, variety streaming may not be easy, and sure, maybe Leah was “in the right time at the right place,” to borrow her words. However, her magnetic personality and sense of joy are traits that even some of the world’s biggest streamers would envy. As she continues to grow as a creator under the EXCEL banner, we can’t wait to see what she does next.

  • Exclusive first look at Scump x Rich and Lonely clothing collaboration – Dexerto

Call of Duty legend Seth ‘Scump’ Abner’s collaboration with Rich and Lonely (RNL) will drop October 3 at 2pm CT, and we have an exclusive preview of the limited line. Collaborations between esports players and clothing companies are nothing new, but RNL is looking to make their mark by teaming up with Scump for a limited drop series. The synergy is not unexpected, with designer and founder Aaron Create the man behind the CoD World Champion’s personal logo, and co-founder Marcus ‘MBoze’ Blanks a former teammate and part of the same organizations for close to a decade. Rich and Lonely have given Dexerto an exclusive preview of the drop, plus a quick explanation behind what went down to make it happen. It wouldn’t be an RNL drop without their trademark cream colorway making an appearance. “Well honestly it’s pretty easy for me to work with Seth since I made his logo,” Aaron said. “I know the overall vibe he is trying to put out and he’ll let me know when he doesn’t like something.” The pieces that we’ve seen so far all feature Scump’s iconic logo front and center with a tag for the streetwear brand on the lower right, but it’s not the only design we’ll see. “We wanted to make this collab with Seth easily wearable for anyone, while still including our iconic Richie mascot,” Create explained. “It was important for us to convey the level of prestige that comes with the Scump logo, without it clashing with the colorful RNL palette. We have two main designs for this capsule, one being King Richie and the other based around the Scump logo mark.” We know what the Scump logo hoodies look like, but we can’t wait to see the other option as well. Even though we’ve only got previews of two of the hoodies, there are going to be more choices when the full line drops, with a total of four items in all, and the possibility of another option as well. Scump and RNL’s collab will drop on October 3 at 12 PM PST 3PM EST, and 8PM UK respectively. There’s no word on how limited the collection will be. • Ex YouTube Gaming boss says Twitch’s new exclusivity rules are “still bad for streamers” – Dexerto

Ex YouTube Gaming boss says Twitch’s new exclusivity rules are “still bad for streamers” Unsplash/YouTube/TwitchFormer YouTube Head of Gaming, Ryan ‘Fwiz’ Wyatt is calling out Twitch for its new exclusivity rules letting streamers broadcast on other platforms for not being in creators’ best interests. On August 23, Twitch announced that partners would finally be allowed to stream on TikTok and Instagram live at the same time as they’re on Twitch. Additionally, they would now be able to stream on rival platforms such as YouTube and Facebook, although not at the same time as they’re live on Twitch. According to Twitch, these limitations were in place because they believe “engaging with two streams at once can lead to a sub-optimal experience for your community” – something banned streamer Dr Disrespect mocked by announcing a YouTube-Facebook simulcast. However, while the announcement has been widely praised, not everyone is on board, including YouTube’s former Head of Gaming who said the changes don’t do enough. “Streamers aren’t allowed to broadcast their Twitch streams over to YouTube or Facebook for “extended periods of time.” Twitch says that simulcasting to mobile services like TikTok and Instagram Live is allowed, though.” — Ryan Wyatt (@Fwiz) August 23, 2022 This is still bad for creators. LET CREATORS BE FREE!!!! Former YouTube boss wants Twitch streamers to be “free” In a thread on Twitter, Ryan ‘Fwiz’ Wyatt took issue with how creators would not be allowed to broadcast their Twitch streams on services that support streaming for extended periods of time such as YouTube or Facebook. “This is still bad for creators,” he stressed. “Let creators be free!” After another user commented how Twitch would be losing money by letting streamers broadcast on rivals such as YouTube at the same time, Fwiz voiced his agreement. “It’s an aggressive mechanism deployed when you fear your market position,” he explained. “You don’t see TikTok, YT, or Instagram utilize such policies, and it’s flat out not in the creator’s best interest.” Wyatt further added that video platforms should be at the service to the creator and not the other way around. Whether Twitch eventually decides to allow partners to finally stream on YouTube at the same time is anyone’s guess, but for the time being, being on TikTok and Instagram will have to suffice. And hey, at least they can stream with Dr Disrespect again.

Their most recent episode saw the appearance of UK music artist Example, best known for such songs as “Won’t Go Quietly” and “Kickstarts.” During his time on the podcast, the group’s conversation steered toward drama in the music industry, prompting Example to dish on who he personally feels is the biz’s biggest diva. “What’s the most ‘diva’ thing you’ve seen someone do?” host Jack asked, after the group deliberated on the declining “fakeness” of such scenes as pop and rap. “You must have seen some divas in your time.” While Example didn’t name any names, he did admit that a popular Dutch DJ was at fault for such self-centered behavior, as seen during a music festival in Australia. “We were flying from one festival to another, and a world-famous DJ didn’t want to get on the helicopter because he’d requested a black or a white one,” he explained. “It was a green one.” That’s not all; Example even claimed that the DJ requested his set times be changed, as he would rather take the two-hour drive in a vehicle rather than travel in an unfashionable aircraft. “He was like, ‘No sir, I said it has to be a black or a white helicopter,’” he continued. “‘I’m not getting on that one. It’s green.’ And they were like, ‘Well, it’s a two-hour drive to the other one.’ And he said, ‘Well, they’ll have to change my set times then, because I’m not getting on it.” (Topic begins at 4:05 for mobile readers) As for his reasons for the odd request, Example suggested the DJ might have been on a “power trip” — and while fans might never know who it actually was, due to the Netherlands’ wealth of EDM artists, they’ll now be haunted by the possibility that their favorite producer could be a total snob.

Ex-UFC fighter wants to “throw hands” with Jake Paul after praising him Instagram: jakepaul / YouTube: MMAFightingonSBNFormer UFC fighter Mark Hunt has revealed he would be down to “throw hands” with Jake Paul while complimenting the YouTuber’s career so far. Former professional mixed martial artist and kickboxer Mark Hunt competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) until 2018 before announcing he would not seek to renew his contract. However, the possibility of Hunt returning to the ring seems not entirely crossed out after an ambiguous post on X (formerly Twitter) left many speculating over a potential fight with Jake Paul. Now on an episode of The MMA Hour, Hunt has divulged what exactly his tweet was all about and how he feels about taking on the younger Paul brother. Appearing on the YouTube channel ‘MMAFightingonSBN‘, Hunt was asked, “I’ve seen you also tweet at Jake Paul, is this a fight that you want?” “Is that the fight that he wants?” Hunt replied. “I always thought he was kind of small for it, but if he wants to throw hands, I’ll throw hands with anyone, to be honest. That ain’t a problem.” When asked whether the former UFC fighter was “impressed” with Paul, Hunt said, “I actually like what he’s done. He’s actually done a lot of good things for himself and fighting. I mean he can sell out stadiums as being a YouTuber, so I have respect for that. But as skill level goes, I don’t think so, to be honest. But who knows what the future holds?” Viewers, however, weren’t entirely convinced the fight would ever happen and expressed skepticism over the possibility that Paul would accept Hunt’s invitation. One person wrote, “Hunt would need one shot at about 25% power to KO Jake. Jake will never take this boxing match. He’ll stick to boxing older MMA wrestlers, and octagenarian basketball players to improve his ‘boxing legacy. The kid’s making [money] though.”

Ex-Vlog Squad member says working with David Dobrik made him feel “worthless” Instagram: BigNik/David DorbikYouTuber and former Vlog Squad member Nik ‘BigNik’ Keswani has opened up on his time working with David Dobrik, explaining how the videos and atmosphere drove him to depression. David Dobrik’s Vlog Squad is made up of a rotating cast of characters, mainly YouTubers, who he has collaborated with for a few years – even stretching back to Vine in some cases. With any group, there is turnover as people leave and new creators join. Though, in recent weeks, there has been plenty of ‘tea’ spilled, with some former members lifting the lid on the atmosphere around the vlogs. BigNik, who made his name on Vine back in the day, left the Vlog Squad, and revealed that the constant mocking of him drove him into depression and to reconsider what he was doing. The former Vlog Squad member joined H3H3’s After Dark Podcast #22 to talk about the YouTube collective, with H3H3 asking if he ever felt the same way as Trisha Paytas, who admitted that the videos gave her suicidal thoughts. Read More: How does David Dobrik make money? – “For a long time, I felt worthless being in those videos. I was like, dude, why am I even like here? What’s the point in my existence because I was just treated like this punching bag,” Nik said. “Everyones just joking about me, mocking me, and then the fans in public are doing the same. “I had a good long look in the mirror and I was like wow, I’m really depressed. I realized right there that followers, fame, money, none of this stuff is worth it if I’m getting to the point where I don’t even want to live.” Timestamp of 1:13:50 While Big Nik admits it was a negative time for himself, he’s used that time to change around and put a positive spin on things, using it as a growing experience. “Honestly, I’m kind of glad I went through that because it kind of broke the way I viewed success,” he continued. The former Vlog Squad member explained that he equated success with money, followers, fame but realized, even though he had that stuff, he was “more depressed than ever” but that broke the myth of fame to him, in turn helping him become more mature. He also noted that he’s spoken to Dobrik about his experiences and the two are on a good footing, but it was the constant sniping and piling on from other members that didn’t help his cause.

  • Ex-Twitter employee celebrates last day at the company with hilarious cake – Dexerto

Ex-Twitter employee celebrates last day at the company with hilarious cake Twitter: FollowChelseyA former Twitter employee marked their resignation in a creative way with a “sweet joke” by poking fun at recent ‘rate limit’ struggles on the platform. It’s been a turbulent time for Twitter in recent months, to say the least. From a transition at the very top as owner Elon Musk steps down and new CEO Linda Yaccarino takes over, to a frequent series of platform-wide changes impacting daily users, there’s been plenty to keep on top of. Perhaps one of the biggest talking points over the past few weeks came at the start of July when Musk himself outlined plans to tackle “data scraping and system manipulation.” The platform’s solution? To temporarily limit the number of posts any given account could see in a day. Naturally, for millions of users scrolling the social media platform, an error message soon appeared, one warning they had reached their cap. “Rate limit exceeded,” it read, quickly becoming a meme in its own right across social media. Looping back to the platform’s recent decision, now ex-Twitter Brand Strategist Chelsey Leader Brooks marked her final day with the company by having some fun with the rate limit meme herself. “When you don’t know how to say goodbye, use cake,” Chelsey shared to her personal Twitter account on June 10 before the tweet soon went viral to give her a fitting sendoff. The cake itself featured the Twitter logo up top with a brief example of a timeline below, one that had hit its daily allowance. Employees all dug in and enjoyed a cake poking fun at the platform’s recent limitations, and while it could be seen as a critical departure, she soon followed up to assure it all ended on good terms. “I peacefully resigned with gratitude,” Chelsey explained in the replies. “The cake is a fun little joke. I resigned, humbly, with another opportunity ahead. Not every ending is a bitter dramatic one. The cake was a sweet joke for my amazing friends and former coworkers. Lighten up.” Most recently, Twitter has been embroiled in legal drama as the platform’s owners look to sue Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta and its brand-new rival in Threads. Having exceeded over 100 million sign-ups in its first week alone, Threads is quickly proving itself a worthy competitor in the ongoing social media platform war. In fact, Chelsey herself is already on Threads now as well.

  • Ex-UFC fighter challenges Jake Paul to MMA fight debut – Dexerto

Ex-UFC fighter challenges Jake Paul to MMA fight debut Instagram/JakePaulA former UFC fighter is challenging Jake Paul to step up and fight him in his MMA debut if Nate Diaz isn’t able to take him on later this year. Jake Paul made waves as a boxer going undefeated in his career with victories against UFC champions such as Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley and now he’s ready to make the jump to MMA. On January 5, ‘The Problem Child’ signed a deal to the PFL and set his sights on battling Nate Diaz in his long-awaited debut in a brand new combat sport. However, not everyone is convinced that Diaz will be able to join PFL this year. In a recent interview, former UFC fighter Kevin Lee issued a challenge to the influencer to step up and battle him. Former UFC fighter Kevin Lee wants to fight Jake Paul in MMA Speaking with TMZ, Kevin Lee explained how there are some big issues with Jake Paul wanting to take on Nate Diaz and how he’d be a better opponent if the YouTuber wants to get his feet wet. “Nate Diaz is a good fight. I’ll give him that, but there are two problems with the Nate Diaz fight. Nate Diaz ain’t going to take that fight, let’s be honest. They’re going to go back and forth for months and years,” Lee said, noting how negotiations with PFL may be slow. “If he makes the Nate Diaz fight happen, great but I don’t see that happening within the next year or so and if he wants to fight this year then he should fight somebody that’s on the roster and already making it happen,” he added, further stating that he was close to signing himself. According to Lee, he would be Jake Paul’s best choice for an opponent, hyping himself up as someone who has fought six world champions in his career so far. “Let’s make it happen. Be a man. Put your money where your mouth is. Step in there. You might lose. You’re going to lose. It’s going to happen but I’m gonna shake your hand afterward and let’s make some money,” he urged. “Let’s fight. Let’s see what you do.” So far, Paul hasn’t responded to Lee’s challenge, but so far it’s looking like the influencer will have no shortage of possible opponents between him, Diaz, and even a possible rematch against Ben Askren.

  • Ex-Twitch staff debunks Kick’s claims Ninja’s earnings would be “way higher” – Dexerto

Ex-Twitch staff debunks Kick’s claims Ninja’s earnings would be “way higher” Twitch/Ninja/KickThe former head of creator development at Twitch responded to Kick’s claims that Ninja would make more streaming with them after the Fortnite icon leaked his streaming revenue. Ninja has returned to form thanks to the hype of Fortnite OG with his Twitch earnings coming out to $140,000 over the past 30 days, but Kick believes he would be making an even bigger fortune on their platform. After Ninja accidentally leaked his Twitch dashboard revealing his stream earnings, Kick responded on X, formerly known as Twitter, by stating that his earnings “would be way higher on Kick.” However, these claims soon came under fire from former Twitch staff member Marcus ‘djWHEAT’ Graham, who hit back at the revenue dispute. DjWHEAT blasts Kick over Ninja’s Twitch earnings According to DjWHEAT, even though Kick’s 95/5 sub-split dwarfs Twitch’s, Ninja would actually be making less if he streamed on the green platform. “If you look closely you can see that most of the revenue (over 50%) is from Ads, which Kick doesn’t have. So it wouldn’t be way higher even with the 95/5 split,” he shot back. Kick’s claims were also disputed by Call of Duty content creator JGOD, who calculated that even if Ninja had the same sub count on Kick, thanks to the ad revenue, there’s a difference of $29,000. How? — James – JGOD (@JGODYT) November 16, 2023 23,828 Subs x $5 = $119,140 95% of that equals $113,183 $113,183 (Kick 95/5) < $142,177 (Twitch Ad + 50/50) Difference of about $29k Unless you meant he would be getting a contract. pic.twitter.com/uvAf4nczj2 These series of interactions are just the latest in the ongoing feud between Twitch and Kick. Since its launch, Kick has constantly taken aim at its streaming rival and even signed some of its biggest stars such as xQc and Amouranth to lucrative deals. Twitch, however, has since decided to phase out signing streamers to exclusive contracts, calling bidding wars with Kick and YouTube “unsustainable.” Earlier this year, Twitch even announced that it was ending its multi-stream rules and is letting streamers simulcast on rival platforms such as Kick.

  • Ex-Twitch staff member finally explains controversial emote bans – Dexerto

Ex-Twitch staff member finally explains controversial emote bans Twitch/ChicaA former staff member of Twitch’s safety team has finally explained the decision-making between some controversial emote bans. Twitch bans are always a hot topic in the community and so are emotes when streamers reveal that their own unique features have been removed from the platform. Over the years we’ve seen dozens of questionable emote bans. From mushrooms in hot tub tubs to dancing monkeys getting the boot, streamers have been wondering what was wrong to begin with. In a recent thread on social media, Angel, a former Twitch staff member, chimed in on one particular emote ban featuring a chicken making an “L” sign and explained why it was removed from the site. Former Twitch employee reveals why certain emotes get banned According to Angel, emotes that could potentially be used “with a targeted negative sentiment” are not allowed on Twitch. “Consider – a minority streamer is being harassed, they have every imaginable negative word on their block list…But raiders found a hack! Tons of channels with Loser emotes. This becomes impossible to moderate,” she explained. “I know it seems improbable, but I promise these decisions aren’t made on a whim. There are millions of users & communities on Twitch that you’ll never see, and the possibilities for misuse are more than most realize,” she continued. This line of thinking didn’t sit well with everyone, however. One user commented that anything could be twisted to have a negative connotation, but Angel had an answer for that. “Sure, you can twist just about anything. But the question isn’t just ‘can it be misused?’ but rather a series of questions,” she said, listing off the possibilities for an emote to be misused and how often. Luckily, for those not wanting such strict moderation, there are a lot of alternatives to Twitch popping up. Kick, for instance, has emerged as more of a free speech platform where almost anything goes. However, for users curious about Twitch’s decision-making when it comes to emotes, at least there are finally some explanations about why popular emotes are suddenly banned from the Amazon-owned site.

  • Ex-teacher sues school over claims she ran OnlyFans & slandered governor of Iowa – Dexerto

Ex-teacher sues school over claims she ran OnlyFans & slandered governor of Iowa Snapchat/theiowastandardA former teacher is suing the Waukee school district after allegations she was running an OnlyFans account and slandered Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds. Yet another teacher has found themselves in hot water thanks to the popularity of OnlyFans, but in this case, she’s claiming that there’s no evidence she ever had an account. Ex-school teacher Katherine Rinken is claiming that she was fired over a 2021 post on Snapchat criticizing Governor Kim Reynolds’ decision to ban mask mandates, and was later accused of running an OnlyFans account. According to the Des Moines Register, Rinken alleges she used “vulgar” language on Snapchat when she learned that students and staff would no longer be required to wear masks – and that set off a chain reaction of unfortunate events. Teacher accused of making OnlyFans content sues school The same day Rinken made the post, Prairieview Principal Mark Stallman informed her that it had been screenshotted and was creating a “distraction to the learning environment.” Screenshots shared by the Iowa Standard allegedly show Rinken flipping the bird and calling Governor Kim Reynolds a “f**king c*nt.” As such, she was suspended for the remainder of the school year, but later that week, more allegations surfaced, claiming that she was also running an OnlyFans account. The lawsuit alleges that Associate Superintendent Terry Hurlburt and the district’s human resources director met with the teacher because they had “compelling evidence” she was making OF content. She was also accused of “slandering” the governor. Rinken ended up resigning, because in order to fight the allegations, she says would have had to endure a ‘witch trial’ where parents could directly address and speak against her. She also resigned believing the district would “write positive letters of recommendation.” The teacher is seeking unspecified damages and alleges that she was “forced” to resign. The lawsuit has since moved to the US District Court for the Southern District of Iowa, but the school district hasn’t filed a response yet. This is hardly the first time a teacher has fought with the school district over OnlyFans. Recently in Canada, Ava James ‘The Dommy Mommy,’ says the school subscribed to her content as she tries to keep her teaching job and OnlyFans account.

  • Ex-Twitch director explains why clips can’t work like TikTok in response to Trainwreck – Dexerto

Ex-Twitch director explains why clips can’t work like TikTok in response to Trainwreck Kick/TwitchFormer Twitch Director of Creator Development Marcus ‘djWHEAT’ Graham has doubts that Kick’s upcoming TikTok-style clips feature will work. Trainwreck has the streaming community hyped over a new Kick feature that aims to increase the discoverability of creators through a feature similar to TikTok. While many have called for Twitch to do something similar with clips, djWHEAT doesn’t see it ever coming to the Amazon-owned site despite viewer demand. In response to fans asking about the possibility of something like this ever making its way to the purple platform, the former Twitch employee ruled it out completely, stating that clips aren’t why people come to the site. djWHEAT dismisses TikTok-style clip feature on Twitch According to the former Twitch director, the site had been trying to solve the issue of discoverability for years, but it’s an “incredibly complex problem.” He added that the vast majority of viewers come to the platform for longer form content and most clips only get a handful of views through Reddit. “The amount of clips generated per minute is insane. Most of the clips generated are bad and only get a few views. A tiny percentage are viewed because of their sharability,” he noted. When the topic of having specific algorithms tailored to individual viewers, djWHEAT explained that he had been pulling reports for weekly top clips as part of his job and Twitch didn’t want those to be representative of their brand. “And that’s also why it doesn’t exist today. Kick is 100x worse,” he added. Speaking of Kick’s system, which includes a voting feature, djWHEAT said it all comes down to the number of clips and that there was no easy fix. “If you think a voting system is going to solve this problem when there are 100k clips an hour, then I don’t know what to tell you,” he explained. “Right now Kick is averaging 10-15 clips an hour. How come no one ever wants to think about scale? It’s just not as simple as, ‘I made a like button.’” We’ll have to see if the former Twitch director is right about Kick and its new feature or if Trainwreck can end up proving him wrong as the streaming wars escalate.

Ex-McDonald’s worker spills tea on TikTok with company secrets TikTok / UnsplashA former McDonald’s employee has gone viral on TikTok after spilling the tea on some secrets she picked up on while working there. McDonald’s lovers are always interested in finding out about secret items on the menu, though this time the tea has been spilled on something quite different. If you have ever wondered why you can’t always order a milkshake or McFlurry at a certain time, your question has now been answered. If you have ever wondered if the employees check who is picking up an order at the counter, you also will have your questions answered. McDonald’s TikTok reveals secrets customers may not know In a now-viral TikTok post, content creator georgiazacki decided to run through a few things that not every customer will know. Georgia says that she’s only posting this information now because she doesn’t work there anymore. She continues: “If we tell you we can’t do McFlurries or milkshakes, it’s not because we have run out. It’s a lie.” The TikTok video says that often the staff cannot be bothered as it’s busy, and she also says if the machine hasn’t been cleaned out – that’s also a common reason. On top of that, Georgia claims that the workers don’t even check who is collecting orders at times. Her video has racked up over 400,000 likes at the time of writing, with over three million views. If the TikTok doesn’t load below, click here. In the comments, users started to ask other questions about the day-to-day at McDonald’s. One asked: “Do you wash your hands after handling money at the till before touching someone else’s food?” A second said: “A lot of my friends in sixth form worked at Maccies too but all different stores and we all had the exact same experience.” Another suggested that the things noted in the clip aren’t done at all locations. They said: “I used to work for Maccies and hearing stuff like this literally makes my laugh cos my Maccies was not like yours at all.” Whether or not all of these points raised in the video will be relevant to your local fast-food restaurant remains unknown, but it’s certainly interesting to hear what goes on behind the scenes.
